The people who run the theatre are so warm, welcoming and friendly. The tickets are typically only $10 each, which is a bargain for the quality of shows they put on. They have two live performances by great groups every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The shows are always new and different, and really funny. And theyre Improvized so they are new every time. They have a great beer selection, and candy available at the bar. The seats are comfortable, and have cup holders for convenience. There are no bad views of the stage in spite of having a larger structural column at the front of the audience, because of how the seats are arranged you can still see everything. The space has a nice homey feel while still feeling professional. It walks that line really well. Id highly recommend checking it out. It makes a great date night spot, something cool, different, and pretty inexpensive.
The show was great. The place is a little small but thats alright, you can get a good view from anywhere.Theres a bit of an odd smell when you first walk in. But it must be coming from a neighboring building or something. Its gone by the time you round the corner. Dont let that throw you off, keep on going.
Great place for birthday parties or a fun thing to do on the weekend. Sea tea is kid friendly and encourages kids to participate. I recently went to one of their improv shows and was not disappointed. I laughed so hard!At the concession stand youll be able to be snacks and drinks. The theater is designed to look like the inside of a boat which makes the experience that much better.Visit Sea Tea Comedy Theater if you want a good time.
Best theater Ive ever been to
It was a very nice venue which provided a comfortable atmosphere. I went there for an improv comedy show which I was VERY pleased with as all the performers were excellent. The setup of the chairs is kind of like a movie theater feel and it is very personable be cause you are close up to the stage. They do not serve food but they do serve snacks and they also serve beers, tea, and sparkling spiked seltzer. I enjoyed myself and will definitely return as I enjoyed the vibe.
Can’t beat it. Support local and this is a cost effective way to do so and be thoroughly entertained
The show was definitely not what we were expecting. It was advertised as a write-in show, and we thought the written in questions and comments would be used during the show. Instead, there were pre-selected advice letters that were read on serious topics, and the panelists (supposed comedians) gave serious answers. Id probably still go here for another show, but will not be back for asking for a friend. The funniest part was the reading of the write-ins at the very end, and audience contributions were often funnier than the comedians themselves.
Great venue and the troops bring a lot of energy to the stage. Ive been a bunch of times and only a couple fell flat for me. Park on the street for free!
Fun night of improv with a Star Trek theme
Had a great time at the day before Thanksgiving show to see my high school classmate perform. Everything was also very affordable.
I came here with some friends to see the stand up show on Friday evening. it was only $10 for the tickets to get in and it was so worth it! The group was really funny and the audience was great with the suggestions provided. They have a little bar where they served beer and wine which made for a great addition. Id definitely go back!
I love seeing shows at Sea Tea because the view and the audio are always great! I have seen a variety of performances here, and its great to see so much talent from in-house Improv comedy teams and also from out of town visiting performers alike! There is accessibility solutions for those who need them, and there is ample (pay) parking and some free parking nearby. Great little gem right in downtown Hartford!
Was really funny a just a informal fun time.
An intimate feeling for both performer and audience.
Great little theater with fun improv groups
Pure fun great place for couples new and experienced with each other. Sea Tea is a hidden gem in our capital city. I encourage you spend the 10$ to support local artists rather than some out of touch celeb at the movies
A very enjoyable evening filled with laughter.
Most fun Ive had in a long time. They really made you feel like you are a part of the show by taking suggestions from the crowd! Im Deffinitly going again soon!
Excellent comedy theater set up. As is very important with venues like this, the vibe is cozy and relaxing. The acts range from amateur (and sometimes cringeworthy) improv to absolutely hilarious standup from local, up-and-coming comedians. Support your local arts scene and swing by!
One of my favorite places. Being improv, the shows are all different and unique. They also have stand up, sketch shows and a number of different styles of entertainment. The staff is largely performers so they are friendly and funny as well. Very welcoming, open, diverse community. Most shows are Fri-Sun but there is often something during the week as well if you check the website. The group teaches classes as well. The performers (and the theater!) can also be hired our for private training, workshops or performances.
This is a fantastic spot in downtown Hartford - really fun improv shows and a friendly community too. Some of the best comedians in CT perform here.
There were some funny bits and some not so. Sometimes it felt as if we were paying to watch a workshop or rehearsal instead of a performance. But there were some clever and creative bits and lots of good audience participation especially from the kids.Worth the price of admission.
Friendly staff and delicious food. Not much else to say here.
Pretty affordable shows, 10 - 15 bucks. They have snacks and beer/wine. Absolutely hilarious most of the time. Ive never seen a bad show, maybe a few meh ones but its imorov comedy so that can happen. For the price of admission the chance of that happening is well worth it for all of the side splitting comedy Ive seen while there!
Great shows, incredible talent, and you cant beat the ticket price!
Great space, friendly staff, nice location. Found many of the groups to be very funny. Not just for a young or old crowd. It was a very diverse group of audience and performs. Highly recommend
Great little gem in downtown Hartford. I would highly recommend the Sunday afternoon family show!
Live around the corner and finally made it over here. Service was good/friendly and the establishment itself is clean and nice. I thought the show was pretty funny and for the price (only $10/ticket) worth it.
Fun and affordable. Helpful, friendly staff. Entrance can be hard to find as its just a door that leads to a basement level.
Very entertaining with much humor. Great crowd and believable Santa claus.
I am going to go back. The comedy show was outstanding, the groups were great, the evening was a great experience.
It was great they gave me some
Nice underground gem of Hartford. Get some laughs, do team building, or take a class. Lots of options.
Such an amazing spot! A welcoming, wonderful community that always provides a laugh. Would highly recommend seeing any shows here and taking classes as well!
Great place to watch brave people put their comedic best out for the world to see.
Fun, the actors were great. I plan to go again.
Good local performance venue. Positive vibes. Small and intimate good for a date night. Clean unisex bathrooms.
Great to see such a nice unique place in Hartford, and Sea Tea is a wonderful group. The theater itself is nice, with plenty of parking across the street.
Always a good time watching improv! Come prepared to laugh. Arrive early.
Great place, trendy crowd, comfortable chairs,Top notch sound
This was the strangest improv comedy Ive ever seen, in that it was neither funny nor improvised from what I could tell. Maybe we caught them on an off night
Another great show. The Nerd Ensemble produced a super fun Marvel universe
Family show is good for kids. A good alternative to going to the movies..
Enjoyed my time there at sea tea comedy had a great time with my grandchildren
I recently got into watching improv shows and was delighted to find there was an improv theater so close to home! If youre not looking for this place, youll likely miss it. Definitely go, though. Always a good show!

This was an excellent time, getting to see some very talented improvisation in an excellent little theater!
The climate control is great. I didnt expect it to be, but it was.
