Quite an amazing place mainly due to excellent staff and the overall feel. One gets the feeling that Mrs. Daly was a genuinely kind woman. Despite her wealth, built a cost mansion. One can tell how large of a job and cost it must be to keep it up. Enjoyable experience. The photos I added are of the northern buildings -- laundry, icehouse, and garden shed.

$15 admission. 24 minute video then 1 hour to walk around the house on your own with a pamphlet. Grounds are free - but theres nothing but an awful lot of lawn and exterior viewing of the house. Not worth $15 unless youre really interested in Daly.

Beautiful mansion! This place is a wonderful step through history. If you are ever passing through Hamilton and have an hour to spare, you should really come see this beautiful work of art:)

This place was absolutely beautiful, and well priced compared to other mansions I’ve toured. Staff were very welcoming and knew the answer to any question. Would definitely visit again!

Our son and daughter-in-law-to-be showed us the mansion grounds where they will hold their wedding and reception next year. This is a beautiful place to hold such a fabulous event in our lives. I do a lot of woodworking and I was in love with some of the amazing tree trunks located throughout the estate.

Love this place for its history, beauty and such a great place for pictures. I love when the hold events here. Ive been to a few weddings here and they are just beautiful.

Ive been going here since I was a little girl. Even if you dont get the tour, which is great because the house is awesome, you can still roam the grounds and see a bunch of really cool things. Highly recommend for anyone who cares to listen.

What a really cool place to discover. I really enjoyed the history lesson and I want to thank all of the many donors that gave and volunteers who continue to give to preserve it.

A wonderful step back in time touring the Marcus Daly mansion today. Its just out of Hamilton and everyone should go see it. We were greeted by actors in character costumes portraying the people who lived in the mansion. It was very interesting and beautiful. There were some antique cars games for kids homemade cookies and ice cream and a little bit for everyone! This is an event every year in July they call Daly days.

Absolutely gorgeous! It is so full of rich history and the mansion is stunning, inside and out. The volunteers were so very helpful! I definitely got a lot of gorgeous pictures outside with my girlfriend. So very amazing.

Went to the Daly Mansion for an Artisan Craft Show, and got a built-in self tour. This place is amazing! I cant wait to go back and do the actual tour.

We went down for the Celtic Festival with our Highlander cattle or as theyre called coos. I know everybody enjoyed our small calf itty-bitty, and our big bull Pee Wee. Looking forward to coming back for both days next year.

I love Daly Mansions special events. We try to never miss a Christmas Party for the grandkids! The Santa there is absolutely the best I have seen anywhere. He is jovial and looks so authentic and is so good with the kids! I will be sad when the grandkids are no longer of the age that they will want to go. Maybe Ill just go without them!

I love visiting the Daly Mansion!

The Daly Mansion is a must see during the autumn months, its a local favorite for peaceful walks, and pictures ranging from senior portraits to family. This is a no charge location, so you can visit and walk the grounds without stressing about your wallet. Worth noting that the grounds close at 5pm which is unfortunate, seeing as you miss the perfect temperature of the evening.

Shows age but there for exceptional viewing.

The Daly Mansion is always worth the drive to go see. They have tours available for a fee, and the tour guides are very knowledgeable about the history there. They are also always having events there as well. Definitely contact them or find them on line to see hours, events and such.

The celtic festival was a blast, what a great venue!

This was pretty cool! I was born in Montana but left before local history was taught to me. The mansion gave some nice insight into how Hamilton came to be. Also its a freakin mansion thats been around for more than 100 years!If you like history I would highly suggest going on the tour, it took about 2 hours, but it didnt feel like it.

I dont usually go to these types of places but it was great. And other people should go too theyd have fun

The Daly Mansion is an interesting piece of MT history. Its in amazing good shape for having been vacant 40 years. Our volunteer tour guide was very informative. Mr Daly was a major part of the copper industry in Anaconda, Butte, and Hamilton MT

Victorian architecture, furniture, lifestyle etc isnt my favorite thing but if you like that this is a very well preserved example of how the wealthy lived in the west around the turn of the 20th century. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and thorough

My wife and I got married here. It was a great experience! This place will always be special to me. They have special events for kids and car enthusiasts, a community garden, a museum, beautiful grounds, and they sell maple syrup made from the trees on the property.

The grounds are amazing with ancient Maple and various kinds of trees, shrubs. I did not go into the Mansion itself however I did peek through a windowed room on the ground floor and saw an Antique infant bed which appeared to be in good condition.The house is grand in size and Im sure its rooms, decor and History is something to enhance the mind.

They have done a GREAT job restoring this beautiful historic mansion. Events like this weekends Celtic Games are fun and great activities to bring our communities together.

Wonderful tour by Judy. Packed full of interesting history and details. Furnishings and artifacts are spectacular, not to mention the grounds themselves.

Great place to go for an uneventful tour of a rich mans palace, devoid of any meaningful context of how the Copper King made his fortune. Dont bring your kids unless they like being bored. Parents will undoubtedly be just as bored. This is merely an homage to the tired ideas of Gilded Age exploitation, but without even so much as mentioning the fact that Daly was a robber baron. Its also stunningly expensive to visit and the tours are only once an hour. No self guided tours at all. The servants are glossed over in a very obvious way. It has great potential if they hired staff with a historical background and docents would really be fantastic. They also have a major bug problem. It was literally crawling with box elders and flies. They NEED to hire an exterminator, badly.

Came here for the Celtic festival and Highland Games, will definitely be back for a house tour! During the games it seems they dont provide guided tours, as the foot traffic is too high to facilitate it, but outside of event days they do.

Good tour and the displays in the house were good. The tour was a little long (2 hours) and then we were allowed to do a self tour on the top floor and grounds.

Interesting history of days gone by. Lovely well informed volunteers do a wonderful job explaining the tbe town and family history. So many artifacts are reminiscent of my childhood and my grandparents era.

It is such a fascinating, historic place. The tour guides are very informative and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous and accessible. It should be a destination stop for anyone traveling through this area of Montana.

Absolutely beautiful venue with great views! Huge 100+ year old maples, 40-some-odd acres of preserved land, and the tour of the mansion is a fun look into local history, and keep an eye out for the horse-drawn carriages! While we chose a different venue for our wedding, this was always a top choice. Friendly staff and volunteers make planning an event or touring the grounds enjoyable. The only thing Id avoid is the locally--made maple syrup they sell...its just brown sugar water, but thats only a minor issue. I would definitely recommend this beautiful, very reasonably-priced venue for an event or wedding!

If you are ever in the Bitterroot Valley a stop to the Daly Mansion is a must. If you have been there before, go again. They are always adding new pieces and restoring parts of the house. This place is truely a marvel and was ahead of its time.

Daly Mansion is rich with history. The property managers/event coordinator are very active to make the Mansion as public as can be. From hosting tours, a city-wide Easter egg hunt, high school musical dinner performance, the Bitterroot Celtic Festival, bottling maple syrup from maple trees on the property for local distribution, and many things in between, the Daly Mansion is very involved within the community, which makes this place a 5 star location.Highly recommended for families, travelers and field trips, and as a venue space and engagement/wedding photo location.

Bitterroot home of the Copper King Marcus Daly. When we moved here 30 years ago, the mansion was in complete disrepair. Thankfully, there is a group of dedicated locals, State help and they were able to restore this and provide tours to the public seasonally. Locals do graduation pictures and there is now a wonderful wedding and event tent. Taker the time to stop here when passing thru the Bitterroot Valley!

Grand old house. Anytime I have friends from out-of-state visiting Missoula in the summer, I take them out there. I would highly recommend it to people who would like to visit the grandeur of Montanas past. The setting is beautiful with the mountains in the background.

It was about a 2 hour tour of a mansion of one of Montanas biggest coal magnets. Really cool and you dont need to know lots about the history to enjoy the tour

Was taken up here by a group of friends on a weekend away to Hamilton, Montana, the home of one of my college dormmates. I was particularly interested in it because the mansion was built by Marcus Daly, one of the Copper Kings of Butte Montana - a Irishman born in County Cavan.He moved to America when he was young, first New York and then San Francisco. He travelled around the West Coast mining towns and worked his way up through the mining companies. Copper was just coming into its use in telephone and electricity wires and Daly struck a fortune in Montana.I found the personal story behind the mansion interesting, how he made his fortune, how he was 30 when he married his 18 year old wife Margaret and what he did with his money - building this mansion.How it was difficult to get an understanding of his life and times from his point of view. According to the website he was not a man to share confidence or talk about himself.I also found his legacy interesting. Although the smelter provided people with well paid jobs at a particular time, it wasnt sustainable. There seemed to be little long term planning by him or the Copper Kings. The Copper industry that had given life to an area and community had equally decimated it ( though it could be argued what the community have done there since has been remarkable) when the industry stopped. The world had moved on and the industry had used the resources available.His wife and kids went off and did their own thing when he died.I walked around the mansion and looked at the front entrance after hearing the stories of his life and wondered what he would have thought of it all.Was it worth it?Could it have been done differently?The museum itself was great. The mansion has been beautifully restored and the guides were very helpful. 5 stars.
