Sandy, hilly, and oodles of animals tracks. Loved walking around here! It is very exposed so would strongly advise long sleeves, hat & bug spray in the summer months (we were there in the 80s and sweated our backsides off climbing these hills!!). Lovely scenery around the hike and the drive to the area is beautiful too - really nice to see some rustic Florida! If following the GPS, it will try to take you past the 1st parking area, but this is where the trail head is & its earlier than you think (its more north). Definitely will be back!

I have been here several times. The trails are nice and the scenery is great. I would have to say that the trails are all sand with the exception of a section on the eastern side that winds through the pine forest. This, combined with the hills, makes the trails rather difficult for longer trips. There is also little to no shade so be prepared with sun protection and plenty of water. Also note that there are numerous small ponds and lakes that I have seen overflow onto the trails during the rainy season making them impassible. Bring a map with you so you dont get lost. You can find one to print out on the parks website.

Lots of trails, a few ponds, and one with a degraded dock my kids love to hike to, with crystal clear water, but could be gators, so be careful.

We had an amazing day hiking with our two dogs. We packed a picnic lunch and ate at the top of a hill overlooking a lake. This is a beautiful place!

A great park to get a nice workout. Also great for seeing birds, deer, the occasional snake, gators, fish, and hogs. There are two primitive camp sites with bench tables and a crated fire pit.Definitely wear hiking boots as majority of the park is sand.

In the area for the week and came here to enjoy a peaceful walk and hopefully see some wildlife. The trail was a bit more sandy that we anticipated which was fine, it just wore us out quicker. The trails are plenty wide enough and well marked, no maps were available for us to carry so we used our phones to find our way around. Unfortunately we did not see much wildlife but the area seemed pretty dry and it was hot. All in all though we enjoyed ourselves and would come back, we didnt cover anywhere near all the trails.

What a great place to camp and explore. I took my son and a few buddies camping here in December. It was a fun 3 mile walk/hike to our primitive camp site. There was a fire pit and picnic table. We had lots of trails to explore. This is a great place if you enjoy real Florida. Highly recommended.

Not my kind of park, I guess. Honestly, appears to have been clear-cut ages ago and never recovered. Mostly scrub oaks and sand, and very little wildlife.

Great, peaceful off-the-beaten-path feel. Had canoe rentals available, shady space for a picnic, and clean restroom facilities in the main building. There were also cabin rentals nearby but I dont know if those were technically associated with Catfish Creek.

One of Floridas best state parks! Rare plants and animals seen only here. A few lakes for fishing and there are primitive camping spots. These are ancient sand dunes and what Fla. Was 17,000 years ago, some steep climbs in soft sand. You could basically walk from here to Kissimmee prairie state park if you wanted to! No entrance fee and parking lot is small, so best to go on weekday.

Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve is a Florida State Park, located about 10 miles east of Dundee, off US 27. There is no entrance charge. Florida state parks are open between 8 a.m. and sundown every day of the year (including holidays).

I recently camped at Catfish Creek - Site 1. There were eight of us total, four adults and four kids aged five to ten. This is a perfect primitive camping experience for young and/or inexperienced campers. It was a 30 min hike to camp and the trails are easy to follow. After we set everything up and accumulated enough fire wood, we explored some of the many trails. I would say 75% of the trails are sugar sand. We happened to go two days after a hard rain so it wasnt that bad. Overall, Catfish Creek is a great taste of real Florida. I will definitely be going back and camping at Site 2.

I actually visited Catfish Creek Sporting Clays, which is located within the preserve. The course is beautiful. The stands are sturdy and have plenty of room. Very wide path for traveling by foot/side by side/golf cart between stations. The staff is great. I bought a membership before I left.

My new go to place to de-stress. I feel like Ive found a piece of heaven.Great place to get away, walk, relax and enjoy the outdoors. Unlimited in that you do not have a congested one path option like most places but many trails of vast land.Definitely one of the biggest treasures of Florida. The sand trails compared to walking an asphalt path is strengthening and beneficial to getting in shape.Im thankful to have found this wonderful place.

Even though the day was a cold one for Florida I enjoyed the trails, they are sugar sand so be prepared for sand to get in your shoes. Nice picnic area at the camp site. The lakes are really pretty and so is the horizon. The habitat is mainly scrub so not too much greenery or scenery but plenty of wildlife evidence is present. Wild turkeys, boars, and plenty others.

Great hike with wildlife around each corner. Poor trail directions, should be much better marked with arrows showing which way to go. This is all sand hiking, so great workout and quiet.

Really distinctive example of ancient Lake Wales Ridge -- scrub, big sand hills, and ponds. Very interesting, lovely. Walking in the sand can be tough. And the shooting range nearby can be noisy (what a sad accident to have them close!).
