This is a fantastic little museum with a modest but interesting mix and of rolling stock just adjacent to the CSX local yard which is on open tracks right next to the museums stock. This offers a great view of active trains which when we visited were busy shunting cars around and getting set for runs. The real show stopper at this museum though is the large model displays of which there are at least 4 separate displays. The cost of entry is modest and the staff was all very friendly. Definitely worth a visit especially if you love model trains.

This is just one of our familys favorite places. I have 3 kids. And they love the elaborate train layouts that never seem to get old. There is always something new that your eyes pick out. The trains are a continuing build. The history is all around you. Beautiful photos from the railways past are all around to see. There is even a work car on the ground floor (thats right 2 levels of train layouts ;)) that you can sit in and pretend your driving down the line. There are the most kind volunteers there. They run trains and build and work on the layouts. They are full of wonderful railway history and will often tell you wonderful storys of our rich past. They have a gift shop and if you should want a yearly membership they have that too. We love this wonderful place.

Cant really say how it is inside or how the employees are due to covid closing. But they do have a line of cars behind the building. Super bonus is its right next to the csx yard so foaming activities abound here.

This place gets a 4 mostly for the delightful train enthusiasts who are here to talk to visitors and each other about their love of model trains. There are several models running, and a very elaborate Christmas train room, but the folksy train guys are the main draw. Come ready to visit and chat.

Took our grandkids and they loved it. Much to see and buttons to push and original train bells to ring! They offer a childrens section of wooden trains, too, for them to play and build their own villages. Also have a store attached to buy souvenirs. If you have train enthusiasts in your home, dont miss this!

This is a very historical building full of wonderful photos, letters, railroad equipment and other memorabilia to view and enjoy. I spoke with a volunteer that works there and heard more of the history of the roundhouse. Would recommend to anyone that enjoys anything about trains.

Visited the museum on Saturday at noon... They were to open at noon but still had not open at 5 minutes past. rather than let the ladies and children stand in the warm dry foyer area the man refused to let us in until they were ready to open. Not very punctual are a good way to treat visitors.

A really nice museum about the old forgotten train aroundabout. It’s been taken out and was a part of the local train history. Very nice for kids to come to and get a little local history as well as trains ( what children don’t like trains?). Good for adults that never came outta the fascination of trains. You can easily miss this place. I realize this place is runed by grants and/or funds but could use a better sign to drawl more attention. Been here a few times and have enjoyed it.

Great place to take the family... Just be careful because the entrance/exit is so close to the busy road. Hold on to your kids! The guys are very friendly there. If youre looking for a brief excursion (1 to 1 1/2 hours max), this is the place to go.

Took my five year old and my grandmother today for a event held at the museum. After paying to get in and being there for a few mins my son wanted to take a picture of the Lego trains in the one room. Only to be screamed at several times by the oversized rude old man sitting in the corner for getting too close to his trains which my son was nowhere near. I then said God forbid someone take a photo no need to be a jerk to my son and we went to leave. Upon leaving I went to place a complaint up front where we had paid, only to be told that a too bad because he runs things there. No one had made any effort seven this being a family event and our first and last time there to rectify this and we headed out and my son was so upset and didnt understand what he had done. This was an awful experience and we will never recommend anyone goes here and is subjected to this rude and unwarranted behavior towards children and familys. A waste of money for the half finished exhibit and rude staff who dosent Carr to ake sure people njoy this and eave happy .my son ended up crying because of this. We were planning on buying from the gift shop and spending the whole day enjoying a potential new Bobbie. But after this ...never again

Let me start off by saying that if youre a railfan, this is for you. If you have small children, then also this is for you! This two story museum does have a whole lot as far as displays, theres one very large trainboard, comparable with the one in roadside america, in Shartlesville, Pa. Several smaller ones as well.Admission (2016) is a modest $5.00 for adults, with children ages 4 - 12 costing .50. There are tracks on the side of the museum, with a few train cars, however they were locked. In my opinion this is a good spot for smaller kids, aged 2 -5. Has a small gift shop. Ample parking, accepts visa and master card.
