I LOVE GREAT WOLF LODGE!!!! I liked that they added the magi quest it was so fun to run around with my brother and complete all of the quests. The water park was awesome and loads of fun. Definitely a place I would want to go again.
I’m giving this rating for a couple reasons. I’m talk about the best part first. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. They have a lot of activities for children. The decorations was well put together. They had yoga for my oldest daughter. The swimming area was very clean and secure. There was a lot of life guards on each part of the area. They were really watching and making sure no one got hurt. Great customer service when I checked into the hotel. My room was clean and nice. Now, the downside of my last night stay. Someone came to my door at 1:45 A.M. How is that even okay? That’s an security issue, no call or anything. Talking about my daughter and the tv is to loud. My daughter is two years old. They could have called my room phone for that at this type of hour. I am a paying customer with a young child. Kids aren’t always quiet. When calling the front desk. They said something they received noise complaints in this area. They said it was door slamming. Two different stories were being told. The front desk stated that to accommodate the other people on the floor, they would have asked me to come to the lobby with my child. How is that okay to say to a paying customer? You would really ask to come out of my paying room to please please someone else. Why did I pay for a room? Then stated they have an 11:00 P.M noise policy. I was never told about no policy, nor is it posted in my room. This policy isn’t posted around the hotel. I’m on vacation, I have spent over 400 hundred dollars in this hotel. I am dissatisfied now that my two year old can’t be herself. Don’t bring young babies or kids to this hotel. They will ask you to take your child to the lobby. I was having a great time and until I was mishandled by management.
Could have been cleaner in walk ways (stairs to slides) in water park. Not many activities. Room was not big enough. They did well with insuring people wore masks. Family breakfast was all reheated/frozen food. I liked the baby area but very slippery, could be refinished for walking. My girls kept falling. My family had a great time. We perfer Wi Dells.
First I must say... I am here at great wolf this weekend on a discounted Rate because of issues from my last visit. Saying this to say I see this establishment needs a huge improvement. When I was taking a shower I went to grab a hand towel to wash with. My eyes were closed because I just conditioned my hair. I lathered the towel with soap (eyes still closed). When I opened my eyes the towel was full of blood. And not a little spot of blood. A lot of blood. This tells me that housekeeping is not really checking the linen! If it looks untouched... they are just leaving it.Same with the tissue. There was a half roll of tissue. Meaning they didn’t change it from the last people that stayed in the room. When I was here last they told me they were short staffed. Customers should not have to suffer because they are short staffed. This is unacceptable and I am traumatized. I am literally shaking writing this.We paid a lot of money to stay at this resort. This incompetence is unacceptable!
What an awesome place. Everything is very nice and super clean. The Waterpark is amazing and the kids had a blast there ALL day long. They have a bar there and some booth snacks and plenty of waterslides and activities for kids of all ages. The hotel is awesome and so is the room. Everything was just wonderful and I highly recommend.
Cleanest water park we have been too. Very little chlorine smell. Everyone wore masks expect in pool area and staff would correct people who werent abiding or wearing correctly. Nice get away.
My family and I had a great time! The place was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our 2 bedroom suite was comfortable, clean, and hallways were quiet. But right now the resort is cashless so be prepared for card only transactions.
Despite the previous reviews on here this place was EXTREMELY CLEAN.! Due to covid they still had everything available for kids to enjoy the staff was so on top of keeping things clean and sanitary. Even in the water park which was my main concern but everything was sprayed and wiped down continuously. The staff there was GREAT my son really enjoyed his 1 day get bday get away for his 5th bday. Me and my husband were able to enjoy him enjoying his self and not have to worry about sanitizing everything. Our rooms were clean and I double checked due to the other comments. I didn’t have to complain or clean anything. Although I sprayed my disinfectant just b/c I do that at any stay away from home. We are looking forward to coming back soon. GREAT STAY.!
Just stayed here for 3 days. Excellent service. Friendly staff. All workers & guests pretty much wore a mask, at all times. Only exception for guest was inside the water. Our room was nice & clean. Also, it was ready early! I purchased the Wolf Passes for my children. Well worth every dollar. My kids had a great time. We will definitely be going back at least once a year.
I want to give more stars, but simply can’t based on my stay. Overall, there is tremendous potential here and I acknowledge that my family’s trip had some issues hopefully others do not run into.Pros:1. Location: anything you could want very close by including Six Flags and Gurnee Mills essentially across the street. Also great dining choices.2. Amenities: While most of the dining we did not attempt due to not being able to sit in restaurants with COVID guidelines, I thought the in house Dunkin Donuts was great for the kids and also the adults enjoyed having coffee close by. I felt the range of activities outside the water park were great and mostly fairly priced and my kids enjoyed the ropes course and climbing wall. The one exception was the arcade where many games were in the 2-2.50 range depending on how many points you bought and if you have multiple kids the points will not last long.Neutral:1.Check in/check out: check out was perfect with a “bye” and no wait. Check in was a longer wait as staff had said that the reservation system was “lagging”. Not sure what that meant, but It did take awhile compared to the number of people in line. Check in staff did not mention to our party or other family members staying at hotel but they give out 2 types of wrist bands for the room and water park access. 1 with features to charge and enter rooms and 1 that is just a wrist band with no room entry available. Both of our parties gave the kids the bands with room and water park access. Just flip the bands over to make sure you have the ones with the chip.Cons:1. Water Park Safety: my 10 year old child stepped on a tack in the water park. This is an odd occurrence, but I’m trying to figure out how a tack got in there in the first place. I assume this was dropped from staff and if so these sorts of sharps should not be allowed in a water park without exception as it is just asking for trouble. I was also concerned that my son came limping back to me after he noted this to staff who gave him a band-aide and cleaning towel. No incident report if it got infected later and no one escorted him back to his parents with the injury. As a former lifeguard instructor and aquatics manager, this just is not a way to do this work. Disappointed is an understatement.2. Rooms: the room itself was ok. I actually enjoy the spacing as it is adequate for the number of guests. The tv features with apps were a plus for our family, however we had an issue where our in room smoke detector was randomly going off. The first time it went off on its own, the second time someone came up to change battery (I was not happy at all with the time it took for maintenance to get there as the noise bothered the kids). The third time, I did not have to wait nearly as long for maintenance but we had guests already sleeping who got woke up and had to mask up for maintenance staff who made the comment that the model was very old on the smoke detector. Simply, not a comfortable stay for our family.Overall, reasonably I could see an instance where people did not have our issues and completely enjoyed their stay as well. For our family, we will likely stay somewhere else and enjoy theme parks, water parks, and shopping close by.
The waterpark itself is nice as well as the amenities, but when it comes to the rooms and lodging the resort has a long way to go. We ended up leaving and not staying the night. Our room was dirty and smelled bad. There is a thermostat on the wall but purely for show as it did not work. There was a wall unit that smelled moldy, musky and dirty and hardly broke the humidity level in the room.. We were willing to make do with it for the sake of the kids, especially since we spent 100s of dollars on the arcade and paw passes that they didnt even get to use yet because that was the plan for the morning.... until I discovered toenails on the side of the bed and hair all over the bathroom. I was beyond fed up at that point that we packed our stuff and left. We easily spent over $600 between the room, dinner, arcade, and souvenirs and management would barely even work with me on recovering the cost of the paw passes that the kids didnt even use, which was the nail in the coffin for me. They explained that since it was past 9pm (check in is 4pm) we had used enough of the amenities to justify what they were willing to refund me. Which, Im sorry, but 3 hours of pool time, an overpriced restaurant for dinner and some arcade time is the reason we were not in our hotel room noticing toenails on the floor and poor quality of the air conditioning. We have stayed here before with no issues, but this will definitely be the last.
I felt it was overpriced for the availability of the amenities that were offered. #covid. I think that room should have been cheaper based in the fact that I couldnt take advantage of THE GWL has to offer.
This place is awesome! I had a blast with my family. The pools and food are great. The rooms are also very clean. Take your family here. You wont be disappointed.
My kids from 31 years old to 3 years old loved all the slides. My family had a blast!! Food was awesome and the souvenirs made them all happy. Thank you to all staff. Great service!!
Awesome spot for indoor pool, went during the weekday so there wasnt too many guest. Great spot for the kids, also water slides for the adults. A bar located right next to the pools and arcade games to play right outside. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
So this was my very first experience at Great Wolf Lodge. I am giving a 3 due to cleanliness and follow up. Other than that I had a great time there. Protocol and social distancing were handled well. I like that due to Covid staff is not allowed in your room. They will drop off anything needed. Everyone was really nice and friendly. Due to Covid and the advertisement of deep cleaning I was disappointed to walk into a room that was not quite as clean as expected. Upon entering I could see this room had not been used recently due to the dust on the tv and dresser. The light switch above the table was filthy with what looked like cheese puff from a kids hand. There was hair in my sink, tub and on the floor. The toilet area had the stench of urine. I brought my own cleaning supplies because i have a two year old daughter. I cleaned everything but the smell was still there. When I took a good look at the dark grey walls you could see there were yellow run spots as if someone urinated down the walls. Hey boys will be boys, I get it but double check rooms for full cleanlyness before allowing the next guest to check in it. ... I cleaned the walls but the smell was still there. Moving on the last reason for a 3 which I now feel like should be a 2 star review, when I pulled the sheets back on the bed there was a small spot on the sheet that looked like blood. When we got up the following morning I called for new sheets which were dropped off in a timely manner but when we got back to our that evening and I went to put the sheets on the bed they were for a Twin bed not a Queen bed. I called around 10pm for the sheets and had to call back about 30mins later because no one brought them up. Needless to stay for me that was a horrible experience with my room. They were small things yet big things....
I wish I could give this place a 5 star but the front desk staff was not very pleasant at the time of check in. It takes forever to even get someone on the phone when you are calling the front desk. We love this place, great Wolfe lodge is our little vacation once a year to take our kid. I had called in advance and specifically requested a patio balcony because that is what we purposely booked for and at the time of check in they said we needed to pay a $40 upgrade fee for the balcony even though that’s what our reservation was booked for. It just seems like the staff doesn’t care as much when it comes to customer service which disappoints me. Do not use their vending machines when you are using a card because it will take your money. I called the front desk to ask about it and she basically told me to not bother or trust it.I don’t think our bath tub was cleaned because when we took a shower the tub was very slimy and the water took forever to go down the drain. I didn’t even bother calling the front desk since they take forever to answer.Overall we had a great stay & I would recommend it I just hope the front desk staff would be a lot nicer and welcoming for next time.
We would give 0 stars if offered... Everything started off ok, however that was very short lived! We check in go to the water park as we wait on our room to get ready, We have 4 children with us so upon entering the water park they measure the younger children and put brackets on and explain they do that so they don’t have to keep getting measured for each ride! Seems ok.... WRONG.... My son was harassed for 2 days by guard after guard and even the water park manager! For every 4 times he would go on his favorite slide he would be measured 5 times! Even with the bracket! It would be fine with one guard and not the next! After going through this for a couple of hours I ask the lady in the front and she said he is fine to go on everything! Well that was a lie, after running up and down the stairs a few more times we were tired of it and left for the night only for a night full of tears and questions about why are they picking on me dad? Why don’t they like me? why do they let the kids smaller than me go but they said I was too little? This continued the second day for a few hours.... ok to ride ok to ride switch guards not ok to ride ok to ride... finally we are approached by the Park manager he sees the bracket and makes him measure yet again!!! He says his height is fine and he would let the guards know he is fine.... right after that we go back up to the slide for him to get turned down again at this point we packed up and left!!!! This place is a joke! On top of this when the room was ready the pillows on the bunk bed were stained up, had to get different towels due to what appeared to be blood stains on one and a wash cloth that was wet and dirty as if it had been used refolded and put back on the cabinet! Never Again... we planned this weekend out to get the kids a break since they start school in a few weeks and have been locked in the house since March thinking it would help but to only find out it hurt them more!!!
Good for a weekend or short stay if you want a relatively affordable option. The lodge is clean, staff is nice, but the whole operation could be better organized. One example is their app that they reccomend guests to download to get the activities informations but the data in the app was not updated and there is no option to reserve spots for activities like the story time for kids. The hotel doesnt offer a map or pamphlet with general information and for anything you have to call guest services. My room had the bathtub drain clogged, what made my experience a bad one. I called guest service to have the drain unclogged, they said they would send someone to take care of it and it never happened. The water park is okay, not more than that. It is not a bad place, but I am not planning to go back anytime soon, I will probably try a different place.
This place was great. Me and my family had a great time. The food could have been better though.
This place doesn’t even deserve a one star experience.Upon not being able to locate my ID, I asked if my friend that was also on the reservation could use her ID and they refused. They only accommodated for an hour water park pass until my friend got there, since she was still an hour away to provide her ID. They then mentioned I had to cancel the entire reservation and put it on a card under her name. I mentioned I had cold food with me so an hour free pass to the water park wasn’t being accommodating. The front desk manager named Devin got upset for me swearing from being upset, and kicked us out. He escorted me out along with my two kids and called security and didn’t accommodate us whatsoever. Very rude and walked up to us outside and got in my face in front of my kids. There needs to be a better manager who is kind and compassionate and understanding. Instead he got in my face in front of my kids. Very unprofessional and rude. He also told me what kind of parent was I to be swearing in front of my children. Very unacceptable.
I really enjoyed the steps the staff was taking to clean the facility and make it an enjoyable time. We only stayed for the day to enjoy the waterpark, so Im not sure how the rooms were, but Id imagine they were taken care of and cleaned responsibly.
The family loved it... The kids experienced trick or treating the great wolf way. Store time was fun also the dance party just all around fun for everyone
We stayed in Gurnee, IL Grizzly Bear Suite with Accessible Bathtub, Balcony. Being wheelchair bound this place was unequipped for my needs. The beds were too high, no shower bench or shower chair was available, the toilet was too low to use it, fridge was on the ground and I could fall trying to access it, fridge should have at least been elevated. Staff sent me a small broken shower chair when requested and the second one was smaller and but couldnt even fit in the tub. No accessible door for the bathtub so no way to slide inside. The lock on the bathroom door was complicated and made no sense. I needed assistance just to open the door. That being said I was unable to shower or use my rooms bathroom during my stay. The beds were way too high and I needed assistance to be lifted on and off. Some staff was nice others not so much. Front desk, not at all. -very mixed- but it was the manager with the dyed burgundy / black hair who ruined my visit. She made false accusations against me and my family with no reason or explanation. Only saying over and over Im not here to debate it with you. Im just here to kick you out.She made me feel very uncomfortable and very unwelcome and was uncooperative when I asked for an explanation why she was banning us. (Like I would come back) She even had the audacity to stop me from going up a ramp midway to question me which is very dangerous! and demanded to hand her my personal cell phone for information. Who the hell does she think she is!? and how does this woman still have a job there?! I feel discriminated against. This place does not welcome disabled people. As much money as I spent here it was an absolute waste. I will discourage anyone, especially the handicapped from ever coming. It felt better to be home and able to get out of bed by myself again. I will be calling ADA.That pool is a breeding ground for covid as well. No guests were wearing masks inside the pool area, social distancing is nearly impossible. One of the bedrooms reeked that of a gym locker room and the other shower had remnants of the previous guests. Gross. 0 stars if possible.
This park is worth every penny, go in the off season and u get a discount plus not as many lines!! A + HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
The family had a fun time. Everything was clean and the staff were all excellent as always! The Waterpark was clean and disinfected very regularly. Great experience
They say first impressions are the ones that stick. Well, this locations management offers a horrible one.My family was excited to celebrate my sons and husbands birthday here, but unfortunately our stay was ruined upon check-in (or lack there-of). I prepaid and booked a stay a week prior, and got a confirmation email which I saved of course; where everything was correctly listed. When I got to Great Wolf Lodge they said my confirmation number was under a different last name and I couldnt check in unless I have an ID with that name. Silly error on their end I thought? I showed them the email confirmation where it clearly states my name and the confirmation number and the fact that I already paid and booked a lot of extras for the trip.An error occured after my confirmation email and management was needed to fix the problem, so I asked for a manager to talk to. I was left waiting 30 minutes (not an exaggeration) before Grant, the manager on duty, stepped out from behind the counter and proceeded to tell me whatever they have is correct and there is no way im right. There is nothing they can do to check me in. What?!I didnt even get a chance to explain what was going on before he came out with his judgement.I ended up calling customer service while at the front desk so that Grant and the customer service agent could work out the issue. The customer service agent was trying to fix it but Grant was already logged into the reservation so they said he can help me since he is logged in or he would have to log out so they could get in. Grant said he was taking a look to see what he could do and he was acting positive while the agent was on the phone so we ended up hanging up with customer service. Soon as I hung up he said no, he is not checking me in!At this point I showed him the confirmation email with all of my information listed correctly and he was just standing there rolling his eyes. Meanwhile, my kids and I have been waiting 2 hours to check in.Finally 2.5 hours later we checked in. It was after 6pm at this point so by the time we got to the pool we had about an hour to swim.Grant, the manager, had 0 compassion, 0 customer service skills, and ultimately 0 business being a manager if he cant fix a simple error!I would like to say that everyone else on the trip was very nice and the room was ok. But this experience with your manager, someone who is supposed to be a leader and a problem-solver completely ruined our trip and what a waste! I spent over $500 that night with all the extas and would have in the future too if only your manager was polite and helpful, but never again!
The Great Wolf Water park is very nice for children to play and enjoy to the fullest. The food and drinks are costly except for the pizza it is reasonably priced. If looking for a hot tub not here.
Great Wolf Lodge is such an incredible place! Im so glad my wife decided to host our sons birthday party and sleepover there. The staff were so friendly and super helpful. The food was delicious too. The best part was the birthday package in our room. Made my son feel so special. Thank you Great Wolf Lodge!
So much fun! Very much a family environment so many things to do yet its not overwhelming. The check in and out is very easy i only had to text out and check out was done! The wristbands are your door key so no fumbling with kids while trying to find it. I live the lazy river and all the attractions. The bed was so comfy i almost booked another night! Very pleased with our stay.
Very nice rooms, water park was great ! There is something for everyone ! Wish that posted the events in more spots. 3, 5 and 16 year all had fun! Thanks for a great vacation!!!!
Great place to go for a quick kids getaway! The birthday cake provided in the kids birthday package was surprisingly good! And thats a direct quote from the familys professional baker!
We go here for halloween. My children had been looking forward to story time and the dance party for over a year. When we arrived I asked two workers about if there was needed to register for those activities (mind you I checked in right at 4 because we did not want to miss the opportunity to register if needed) and both people told us no we did not need to register. About two hours before the activities I texted their willow line to let it know we would be down and the rep said we couldnt because I needed to register earlier in the evening. Broke my daughters heart who had been talking about it all year and was sooo excited. My husband walked down passed their dance party and there was only 5-6 kids down there.
Our family is here for Christmas break and its crowded. I love watching all the children having fun. My kids is having fun and I cant complain, plus the management is kind and helpful. We plan to return for the summer! Thank you Great Wolf Lodge.
My room was absolutely disgusting on on arrival everything seemed just fine but upon further inspection I noticed food in the refrigerator that’s hadn’t been cleaned out or wiped down even tho CORONAVIRUS Is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS!! I then realized that my bed covers were very dirty with stains, crumbs, hairs and HUMAN NAILS shavinng!!!!! It was disturbing... and that’s not the worst part when I called the front desk they said they couldn’t send anybody to clean it until we signed out!!! So I asked for them to send us to another room and the lady at the front desk kept giving us a hard time so I just said can you atleast have someone send new sheets and disinfect wipes to clean the room that should’ve already been clean at check in and she only sent me sheets so I had to go to Walgreens and buy disinfectant wipes to clean the room I payed to stay in and change the sheets that should’ve been clean! Overall the stay was horrible hairdryer didn’t work asked for a replacement and that one was broke too when I ordered the room it said the deluxe came with a microwave so we came equipped with food that we could warm up and eat on our stay then it turned out there was no microwaves so all that food that we bought to eat was no good! The water park was the only ok thing other then when we were in the wave pool and some kid started throwing up in front of the lifeguard and the lifeguard said nothing didn’t ask anyone to get out so unsanitary like aren’t you guys supposed to clean that?!??? I just can’t believe how this place is run rude customer service. I have been to great wolf lodge for years in Wisconsin Dells and they would never!!!! I will be back to the dells but will never return to the gurnee location
This place is absolutely AMAZING and so beautiful!!!! The kids absolutely loved it and was the best time they have had at a water park in a long time!! Definitely worth going and definitely going to suggest going here to all my friends and family! Its great!!!
We love Great Wolf Lodge. We had a wonderful weekend for my grandbaby Zachary 3rd birthday.
Although much smaller than its cousins in Wisconsin dells, this is a perfect quick getaway for Chicagoans. The rooms are cozy and clean. We want on a Wednesday this summer and it was not crowded. Their are about 5 big waterslides and a playground for kids, and splash pad for the little ones. There are a number of activities besides in the water, like climbing wall, bowling and high ropes course. There are a number of restaurants. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of two reasons. The first, while the resort is not the high priced to stay at, it is very expensive to buy things there. The second, is that I got a piece of glass in my foot while in the wave pool. Other than that it was a very good stay.
The room and hotel were clean. The staff was friendly. I would not go there again unless it is a discounted weekday or promotion. Its expensive for what it is. There were limited amenities in the room and I even upgraded to a deluxe family suite with the balcony. The room itself was a decent size. There were a lot of activities available in the hotel for school aged children. A rock wall and rope climbing, a big arcade and magic quest. Most slides required children to be 42 in or taller. My two toddler still had fun in the wave pool, lazy river and two activities areas for kids in the water park.
What a good time. Went just for the day to play Magiquest and had an awesome time. The magician Dennis Christie did a few card tricks with my son which he loved! Value added. Clean and not too busy. Great experience.
This place is great! We had so much fun! I brought a 9yr old, 8yr old, 6yr old, and 1yr old. There was something to do for all of them. The room was nice and clean. They brought up a pack and play for the little one. Staff was awesome, very helpful. In my opinion you have to go during The week when the prices are a little lower but if you have the extra cash, go for a weekend! There is a fridge in the room and a microwave near the ice machines so I brought food and disposable plates to cut cost a little. Overall worth if for all the fun we had!
Lots of fun for kids. Good water temp. Clean rooms.
Waterpark had just enough slides to keep my adventurous 3.5 year old happy and occupied!
I was not impressed with Great Wolf lodge for the prices they charge they should provide a lot more amenities. I mean no DVD player, no toaster, no freezer? If your not going to provide a kitchen then the rooms should be a lot roomier. The indoor park was ok but I felt like it needed more entry ways to get to everywhere. I felt like I had to walk forever to get anywhere in the waterpark.. Also the temperature in the waterpark was a little too cold. Finally I was pretty upset that there were no jacuzzis there. I mean I truly have never been to a waterpark with no jacuzzis?!
We thoroughly enjoyed our day visit at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee!! The boys played for 8 hours and slept well for the next two nights. The wait at Timbers for lunch was ling but the food was worth the wait. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lockers were handy. Bathrooms were spacious and clean (could use a few more benches/shelves/hooks for clothes and towels). We will be back!
Great family fun! The waterpark is big for being indoors! My tips...look ahead at the attractions and decide what you want to do in advance because while the water park admission comes with your stay there are lots of extras that can add up. Also use the bathrooms in the back of the water park. They’re nicer and rarely have people in them. Halloween is a really fun time to come lots of extra free fun!
Nice place to be I seen a bug in the room but other than that we enjoyed are slef
Everything was amazing I got a bed to myself and we got our own TV with my brothers so we got to watch TV in bed
We have been to other GWL before and this water park is small, but the worst part is the quiet hours that start at 11pm. We have rowdy neighbors on our second night (large group, music, shouting) and the management “couldn’t” do anything until quiet hours even after multiple complaints. For a waterpark filled with toddlers and young children, they need to adjust their quiet hours to 9pm. Most young children go to be between 7:30 - 8:30, so to let one loud group ruin the stay for many other families is unreasonable. We will never return.
I’m planning to come here On my Birthday which Is exciting cause It’s By Chuck E Cheese :) Awsome
My kids had fun, overall they are doing a nice job keeping people safe, masks required, constantly sanitizing surfaces, and keeping people distanced.
The water park is really for small children. 8 and under. My kid were 10 and up, they were way to bored for the price I paid. We spent more time away from the resort then in it.
Thee water park was fantastic multiple pools for all ages the water temperature was excellent. Our room was very clean and modern. There are a number of waterslides.
Had a great time with the fam! Not one bad thing to say about this place!
Great water slides. And water not to deep for kids. Lady was over reacting about social distancing at front desk.
Cancelled our trip due to this location being closed due to covid ... it has been 148 days and no refund yet I’m flabbergasted and continuing to be pushed from one person to the next never being able to help ... was told I would receive a check NOTHING .... today I was told I must have slipped through the cracks ... they were quick to take all the money up front yet won’t refund it quick IM LIVID ... do not go do not make a reservations thinking you can get a refund in a timely manner !!! No one at corporate ever responds !!! This place is a scam I spoke with my bank they stated we can start fraudulent charges due to them not refunded my money !!!
Have had lots of fun here from when it used to be the Keylime resort. I havent visited since so this review is for what it once was. I do miss Keylime as ive have lots of good memories here. The theme has obviously changed but id imagine the waterpark is mainly the same (likely some new additions).
We had a WONDERFUL time and would like to leave a good review and specifically recognize Ricky, the cook at the Timbers. My family and I are Vegan and we saw that there werent any Vegan options outside of fruit. We were going to leave the lodge to go to another restaurant when the extremely friendly staff assured us that Ricky would take care of us. He quickly whipped up some AMAZING options for us and even came out to check on us and see how we liked it. The staff was so nice and friendly and for this experience alone we will be coming back again. Its so nice to know that Great Wolf is so accommodating!!!
I wanted to share my experience with you. I decided to bring my family and myself to the great wolf lodge in Gurnee IL. Check in was 4pm on saturday the 10th. We were celebrating my sons 5th birthday with a few others. What an experience. Arriving at my room at roughly 4pm the room was still not ready. We waiting around in the hall and told the gentleman to take his time. Shortly after he came out and told us out room was ready. As i was sure the room would be up to specs, i didnt even bother checking and got to loading the fridge. A member of your staff came into the room questioning us... who told u the room was ready? basically why were we in the room. Very rude and unprofessional! She cleared the room and left. A gal in my party starting bringing to my attention how the room wasnt clean, and there were spots in the night table. I started looking around and this is what we saw: a dirty coffee pot, sticky marks on the night stand, drips down the front of the dresser, mirror was dirty, hair in tub, hair and dirt on floor, dusty everywhere, nasty spill marks on the couch and hand print marks on the door handle. (I have photos) I was beyond taken back. With covid going on, the fact that i had not taken my family much of anywhere since march and i was trusting great wold lodge to keep me safe during this pandemic. Gosh all of that has me thinking, did i even make the right decision, as i was also interested in a water part in pewaukee wisconsin.I called the front desk, they said they were sending a manager to the room. 20 min go by, no manager. I call again asking to speak to a manager. They told me there would be a wait and that if i wanted to speak to someone immediately to go down to the front desk!!!! W.o.w. ok so i did.Spoke to a manager, he was nice and friendly. Seemed like a good manager.Changed my room. Offered a discount.Headed up to 2nd room. By this time its 530, park is closing in 2 and a half hours, we are obviously on a time limit. The overall appearance of the room was ok, that is what i told housekeeping. Looking past the overview. The bathroom of the 2nd room had hair and build up in every corner and hair on the shower curtain. Something ive never seen at a hotel. I just felt dirty the entire time i was there. All the hallways were dirty, cobwebs and dirty in the corners. No attention to detail in the common areasAfter a long evening with the kids at the park and dinner after, i called the front desk at 5 minutes to 10 for a few extra pillows. 1030 rolls around no pillows. I call back they forgot. They order 4 pillows again that show up at 1055.We woke up at 6am to the alarm going off when we didnt even order an alarm.I am so beyond taken back at the experience i had, honestly i cant say that myself will ever revisit. I am aware that the family who came with me, will NEVER visit the gurnee lodge. Nothing like the experience i has in the dells.
I scrimped and saved to make my sons 7th special this year! GWL did NOT disappoint. Just about every crew member I met while navigating the resort was friendly, helpful and happy. They went above and beyond, constantly cleaning, sanitizing and making sure we had what we needed. Several crew members asked if my son needed a mask. He started out with one but by the end of day 1 was having meltdowns (he’s autistic and adhd) so we decided to use his exemption and let him have fun. When I told them he was autistic they said they understood and even went a step further to help him get the toy he wanted at the arcade but was a few tickets short, gave us bowling tokens for a miscommunication, they gave him so much understanding and it made us all so happy! The water park was smaller than I’d imagined, but warm, clean and safe! The negatives: Front desk crew wasn’t very helpful, friendly or accommodating at check in, with our missing wristband or the check out process. Also the larger blonde walking around, I assume manager, telling me repeatedly to put my mask over my nose finally cornered me as I was leaving the resort. I’m exempt from it due to anxiety and asthma but chose to wear it over my mouth at all times bc it was a crowded resort. I was eating ice cream as I was walking out, mask on my chin. I stopped so my friend could put my babies coat on and she was condescending as all get out. Ruined the entire trip with her attitude and demeaning, so I left on a sour note. She needs better people skills or a behind the scenes job. The food there is also way overpriced, what you pay for your room and the waterpark alone is pricey but you add on the luxury of ordering room in service after a long day I couldn’t stomach the thought of paying 25-30 a meal so we cut our time short and left the resort to eat. I also feel like they should not give out day passes and make the experience more inclusive of those who rent rooms there. Though I don’t run a business and maybe that helps get people to bookin the future, I don’t know but it was pretty crowded. I also wished they offered big deals for customers once they book! I got a 99$ a night offer at check out and had I had the money I would’ve jumped at that. Birthday deals or discounts the more you book the more you save I don’t know but it would get me coming back more for sureNot many negatives, was a fun experience and may return when the snow starts falling. The whole cabin experience would be fun! Great, clean building everything was clean, smelled clean and never worried about a thing
Was here last year and again this year. Love that there are activities for EVERY age. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Will be back again!
Great place to get away and forget 2020. Siper clean and social distancing in place.
Wonderful visit with my young teens. They still had a fun time with all the fun activities;ropes course, arcade, outdoor pool, and waterslides.
Nice place for family to run away from the Chicago winters. Super fun, enjoyable, perfect gateway
My wife tried to check in and couldnt because of a clerical error they made. Instead of the manager trying to resolve the situation for us we ended up calling customer service while at the hotel and they helped us check-in. I believe the manager on duty was Grant. He was utterly useless. As a result of Grant wasting our time for 2 hours we could only use the pool for a limited amount of time.
After staying here when it was Key Lime Cove twice and enjoying the experience this was our first stay since it has become a Great Wolf Lodge. We are here for the weekend so it is really busy and after reading the reviews posted I was prepared for issues. However, our experience has been wonderful so far! We checked in around 5, which was right after area kids get out of school so I think the crowded lobby was due to a large influx at once, but the line moved quickly. You can check in online with the app ahead of time but I am not sure if it saves much time at the desk. I tried to but I couldn’t get it to work with my reservation. I used Groupon to book our room and that process worked well. Our check in person was quick, helpful and friendly and we could go straight to our room. This resort is very spread out and be prepared for a long walk if you are at the end of one of the towers. Room was perfect for 5 with a set of bunk beds for the kids in the separate space. Rooms have fridge, would like to see them add microwaves. I am posting this weekends info about times for restaurants, etc. so you can get an idea of what might be going on when you are here. Lots of activities, etc. Less options during the week, but this is expected. Water park is larger then the old Key Lime one with some nice additions of two large family raft slides and a larger wave pool. The taco place was really good and our counter service girl (Dawn?) was great! Overall our weekend is great so far and we would definitely come back.
It was great to spend time with the grand kids. Everyone wore masks and adhered to social distancing which made us feel safe.
Weve gone to 3 different Great Wolf Lodge (Traverse City, Wisconsin Dells and now Gurnee) and this one is our favorite - seemed like much larger park with an awesome fenced in zero depth area for the younger kids and awesome wave pool, and water slides for the older kids. We have kids from 8-2 and all had an amazing time.Wish we could enjoy some of the other things on site without having to pay again (mini golf, ropes course, bowling) but we expected it. Rooms were clean and nice too. We will be back!
Became my grandson Carter Ray and myself Birthday celebration Tradition!Today is our 4th year and hes already talking about last year and the fun we had!
Kids had a blast playing Magic quest in the resort. It kept them busy for hours. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Would suggest one looks for deals and promotions. It can get pricey depending on your length of stay.
My kids love it we been coming for some years now back when it was keylimecoves it is relaxing n peaceful.
Great family place...really geared towards small children. No water deeper then 4 1/2 feet
My family and I will be going back real soon. Had so much fun.
This place has everything! Good time especially for the kiddos!
We really enjoyed our weekend get away here at Great Wolf Lodge. The employees were friendly and helpful. The water park was great and clean. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I posted a video on my YouTube channel of our stay. Search up Lord Of Pits.
Really great place for kids, I really enjoyed myself as well so much to do I will definitely return great customer service just perfect
My 4 kids ages 7- 10 enjoyed the water park. It was just the right size that they could run off and I felt comfortable staying in my lounge chair relaxing. The air was hot, water warm, we never were cold. The room was nice, food was good.My son said the rock wall was one of the best ones ever.Id rather come back here than go to the Dells!
Great for kids, lots of things to do, clean and safe areas, good service, clean rooms, big parking lot, good food. We will be back soon.
Great Place for day trips, we did one night short trip and it was awesome. They have good activities for kids along with a great waterpark. They have mini golf which targets younger guests. Rock climbing and rope course is awesome, expect delay so plan a head to be in the line. We did not experience the quest but seems like kids are crazy. Waterpark tickets included in stay but tickets for other activities seems a little pricey.
This was our first time there and must say I was very pleased. Our kiddos loved the water park of course but there are other options. Those include mini golf, bowling, rope course and events for children. It was nice not to travel too far for a mini vacation before our children return to school after holiday break.
This was our first tim here at this location. We drove from grand rapids Michigan to come here and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The water park is big and geared towards the older kids as far as height requirements go. The rooms were clean and and everything was well organized. We will be coming back in the near future if we are ever in north chicago again.
This resort is awesome. We have been here twice and had a great time. Its a little pricey, but well worth it. The check in people do everything they can to make sure your stay is fun. The only flaw was the snack area at the pool. We waited almost 30 minutes for two pretzels with cheese. It was lunch time and apparently the pretzels were cold and could not be served. Instead of explaining this and suggesting something else, they made us wait. I finally asked for a refund. Other than that glitch everything was perfect.
I LOVE this place. I cant wait until we come (hopefully) to this great hotel again. I really enjoyed it! The lifeguards in the water park were so nice, I wish to see them again! I love them, and Im so gonna miss them! Thank you, Great Wolf Lodge. Until next time. Love ya. Bye.
Great way on trying to keep ppl protected!!! My family and I had fun
Room had staples or something poking through that I kept stepping on. For the price, I expect better.
Brand new location!!! This resort is SUPER friendly towards families, especially ones with small children. There are several restaurants and bars on the premises for adults to sit back and relax while the kids have the time of their lives. There are several different options as far as family rooms are concerned. The staff is really diligent about keeping everything clean and they’re always there to help you with a smile. This was the first time we’ve been to this location and we definitely plan on coming back again in the near future.
Great Wolf Lodge is a great family vacation spot. There are lots of activities for the family beside the awesome pools, shopping, arcade, and food is decent with kid options. The down side is that it can be expensive.
Covid conditions impacted negatively but necessary. No hot tubs.
Great place to take kids. Service was great.
The room was nice. Though we didnt figure out how to the lights turn on until we were leaving. Apparently theres a master switch by the door. But the room didnt even have a microwave. You have to walk to where the ice machine is to use a microwave, which was super inconvenient since we had a crying baby who wanted her bottle. But the room, the pool and a few little activities were the only things included in the near $300 i paid to stay here for a single night. Nothing else. Not even breakfast. Breakfast cost $17 per adult and $10 per child over 3. And two of my kids (3&5) barely ever even eat half theyre plates. So we didnt even bother. But Smores were even $2 each. So I didnt bother with that either. Ill buy the stuff and use my kitchen torch to make it at home in Georgia. But, sadly, we didnt even make it to any of the activities here, anyway, except for like 2 minutes of the dance party. But I give it 2 stars because my kids had a lot of fun in the pool area. But we went to a hotel in TN once and it had small play area like they have here to go up and slide down and splash water plus a pool, hot tub and breakfast for $65 plus tax and fees. We can only afford an expensive vacation like every five years of saving up. But, this just wasnt worth my money. Sorry.
Park is great! 3yr old & 1yr old loved it. We stayed in a room with a bunk bed which was nestled in a cute little room with its own tv. Arrived at 1, room wasnt ready until 5 which was frustrating but we were able to go into the water park while we waited. The lockers they have to store your stuff in the pool area are very small and you have to pay for them. If they are going to make you wait for your room, they should at least provide you somewhere to put your stuff. Overall, great place!
Great fun for the whole family. I will say in comparison to another Great Wolf Lodge we have stayed at this one is a bit better for younger kids. The little area in the water park is great for toddlers. The breakfast buffet is extremely small compared to the other location and not worth the price we paid.
Love this Great Wolf Lodge. Plenty for my teenagers to do. Clean, well run, and relaxing.
We had an outstanding experience! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, clean, well appointed facilities, tons of fun for any age. Even lost a cell phone that was found and promptly returned by the security staff within a day. I certainly feel you get what you pay for at this resort. Top notch!
