Wonderful library and genealogical research tools. the librarian is very helpful in narrowing your search for family members from Westmoreland County. They also hold some great evening talks and other programs centered around Westmoreland County History!

Hosts a yearly reenactment of the hanging of a Native American. Highly offensive. When confronted about this, they simply deleted comments and their Facebook page. An apology is owed to the public, as well as assurances that it will not happen again.Edit: The Westmoreland County Historical Society did respond to the problem, and have pledged to discontinue that portion of the reenactment. They have reached out to the Native community and are working to continue to educate the public with other methods.
