Great place to take a little hike! The trails are marked but hard to follow. The tower was amazing in structure and gave a great view! Would love to see this view in the fall! But there was trash all around the tower and where there were memorial benches too. Would recommend people to see but would warn them they my be greeted with trash while visiting.

Awesome view of Greenfield! You can either get to the tower by hiking through the wilderness (more or less a mile and 1/2) or the paved road (half mile).

360 degree view of fall foliage view on top of the tower. Easy access but with limited parking lots.

Pretty good views all around, but the best views are to the West, looking over Greenfield.. Its about a five-minute walk from the parking area to the top. You can also drive up to it. There are few trails in the area, all pretty easy.

Every independence day or around that date fireworks are on display in Greenfield from poets seat tower! Last years show was pretty good! Hopefully, this years will be just as good luckily even better! Show your Patriotism! Our freedom has come with a heavy price!

Nice views of the local town and river from the top of the tower. Plenty of benches to take in the views as well. Keep in mind, you can drive all the way up to the tower (there is parking). Or park as soon as you pull off the road and take a nice walk up to the tower.

I have to give 5 stars because Poets Seat Tower is a staple of Greenfield and it looks out over the Pioneer valley with year round views so spectacular words will not do justice. These are pictures of dawn .

Been climbing poet seat for literally years.The most important things to note are that the Gate is not always open and will close with some inconsistencies. This is totally expected so I dont always assume its open and I check their gate before I make a decision to climb up.Another thing is that the flow of traffic is meant to follow the loop. Vehicles are not intended to descend the side of the fork they drove up. Please keep this in mind as it avoids cars having to pass each on the skinniest section of road.View is phenomenal looking west and you can see great sunsets there.

What a gem! Should be on everyones bucket list. Come to be inspired and understand why others were inspired in this Massachusetts iconic spot. Spend hours and enjoy the many views from the tower to the scenic overlooks westward over Greenfield, MA or the 180 degree view of the Connecticut River. Bring a pen and paper and write down your own poems or stories of what you see from this perch which is as high as a birds flight path over the countryside. Bring a friend, bring a love one, being the kids and have everyone writer something about the experience. It is a four season spot that brings enchanting memories each time! Very limited parking, I suggest early morning viewing or sunset awe on those clear days.

Poets seat Tower is located on the Eastside of Greenfield Massachusetts and is the highest point not proper side of town you can see the Baystate hospital directly below and you have a good view of the valley both North and South

The most Iconic location in Greenfield. I have been visiting this place for many years and I still absolutely love the views over the city. The parking area is somewhat limited but its not usually too busy. The hiking trails nearby are very casual and fun for the family or with friends. My only major complaint is the increasing amounts of broken glass, graffiti, and the odd smell like a mens bathroom at the mall. I hoping that last part was just a one time happenstance. Otherwise I highly recommend a visit to Poets Seat Tower. The views alone make it worth while.

Beautiful spot . The tower was repaired recently and it was a poor job . Executed and over seen by people who know nothing about masonry conservation . This repair will cause the stone to deteriorate .

One of the coolest places in all of Greenfield! Its easily accessible via a short walk from a parking area up a paved path. When visiting Greenfield, Poets Seat Tower is a must see.

Poets seat tower is a great free spot to drive up to or walk to. Once at the base of the tower you can walk up the metal staircase to to top and look over the the whole town and some of the surrounding towns.

Its worth the trip to see Poets Seat. I mean on a clear day you can see for miles. The only thing that upsets me is how DISRESPECTFUL some people are to this beautiful party of Greenfields history by painting their graffiti all over it. The citys DPW has painted over it and tried time and time to keep the stones clean but some people with DISRESPECTFUL behavior keep destroying this beautiful place. I say ENOUGH is ENOUGH and that those who do this graffiti need to be arrested,charged and convicted of destruction of property!!

Great place to hike around on the mountain, even if I am out of shape. Great view of Greenfield and part of Turners from the top of the tower.The town locks the gate at 10PM every night to keep oeople from driving up.

PROS: Amazing view! Climb up to the top on a nice day.CONS: Can you drive up here? You can. You can also hike. Its up to you! But a little confusing the first time you visit.

The Town of Greenfield celebrates the 4th of July every year here. The fields line with Yummy food vendors, live musical entertainment, the Clam Shack, and gets larger every year. Sometimes they have train rides for the kids, bungee jumping and rock climbing walls. No fees for parking. Just park in the Beacon Field/Baystate Franklin Medical Center neighborhoods and follow the crowds. We generally get there about 6, find a spot to lay our blanket out, take a walk around to try out all the comfort foods, meet up with old friends, have dinner and relax until the fireworks begin.The pyrotechnics are set up on Poet Seat Tower and give you an amazing show year after year. A solid 30 or so minutes of breath taking entertainment follows.The Town of Greenfields Recreation Department raises funds each year to hold thus event, so all donations are welcomed to continue this annual tradition.Come on out, and celebrate the Birth of America!The Greenfield Recorder or 98.3 fm WHAI will list the dates for said event each year.

Poets seat tower will be closed until August 10th due to renovations to the Tower. The walking trails are still open
