Love this winery. The pizza dough is fantastic. Love the white truffle pizza, but it didnt taste the same today. Different ingredients? Still good, but not fantastic like before.
The nicest loveliest place to hang out and enjoy the wine in the Grants Pass area. Lovely relaxing setting. The wind blows through the trees while you sit in the shade sipping wine flights. The food is pretty good too. The folks who work here are all family. Family operated place. Highly recommended!
All things considered in these strange times, it is a lovely respite. Cooler weather, clean air, autumn colors, good food and wine mixed with music is not a bad combination.
This is my favorite place in Southern Oregon. Why you ask-- The staff is super friendly and will help you decide the best selection of wine for you. The food is amazing from the wood oven pizza, olives, cheese plates and the olive oil and vinegar platters. The views are amazing and they have seats everywhere on the grounds. Its so relaxing you can just take time for you. Theres nothing better then bringing great friends here and creating lasting memories.
The wine is very good, amazing* pizza and a variety of great seating*Autocorrect had this say snaking pizza
PSA- Schmidt Family Vinyards no longer allows minors. For years I have gone to their late Friday nights with my children and was turned away this evening. It was no where written on their main page of their website, they claimed there was a sign when you entered however the sign said “hours 10-5No minors permitted at this time in small print . So when I rolled in at 6 on a Friday I thought we were in the clear.Owner comes up to me and states “Didn’t you read the sign? No minors allowed. During covid children can’t stay 10 ft apart and we aren’t allowing it.” As the owner in this exchange is standing a foot from my face, no mask on, explaining to me that my kids don’t know how to stand 10 ft apart even though the mandate is 6ft and she couldn’t even abide by it.She said we could stay tonight but my kids couldn’t so much as stand up from the table. As she proceeded to walk back to her table that had children at it running around not seated.I don’t complain much about covid mandates because I get it and want to support local business and the fact that they are just following rules but this was not only a breach of the rules by the owner but unrealistic mandates that aren’t even required.So... to sum up here were my takeaways:My kids know Covid rules better than the owner. They would never go less than 6ft away from someone without their mask as they did.Their wine isn’t that good anyway and we only came for the pizza and space for kids therefore I won’t be back
Love Schmidt Family Winery, great wines, beautiful setting, wonderful simple food.
One of my favorite vineyards. Excellent for entertaining and impressing. Great food, lovely wine, and I recommend taking home a vintage bottle. The garden is the real treat though. Please make sure to walk the grounds and enjoy the amazing plants and friendly chickens.
Lots of outdoor patio seating, very spacious.
This was an amazing experience! I took My wife to Lunch here for Valentines day it was our first real Wine testing experience The staff was amazing quick friendly knowledgeable when I ask for a recommendation of a little sweater wine to take home for my wife they quickly responded with A rose Wine simply call Pink let us sample it and It was exactly what my wife was looking for Because of all of this and as well the calm relaxing atmosphere and beautiful Land scaping we left with Our very first wine club membership.
Great pizza and great outdoors.
Beautiful landscaping and well laid out seating area, great wine and great ambience. Must come back when restaurant part is open again.
Servers werent knowledgeable in their wines. Only states it is popular.
It was great. Happy that you are open again.m
My favorite winery in southern Oregon!
A lovely drive through the Applegate Valley and well sign posted. The winery itself is well worth a visit. A wonderful tasting room - warm and cosy in winter - and the great outdoor area for summer. Light food available in the form of Pizza, cheese platters etc. Wines - a rather large selection with different tastings available. Some great award winning wines to choose from both whites and reds. Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and many more. It was very busy when we went on Saturday afternoon March 2017.
Beautiful grounds. Welcoming atmosphere. So nice to be able to sit at one of the numerous inviting areas and enjoy a glass of wine and have a bite to eat.
Spectacular experience, delicious wine and perfectly paired food options, with beautiful scenery to stroll and live music, cant get much better than that!
Really beautiful grounds! I am not a wine drinker, so I was pleased to see the winery also offered beers. My wife was impressed with the wine selections and tastes! Great wood Fire pizzas as well! Would highly highly recommend this place. Great for families with kids and or adults just looking for a peaceful afternoon !
Highly recommend stopping by if you are anywhere near! Beautiful place and staff is very friendly!
My favorite place in the valley, the atmosphere is amazing, great selection of wines and family friendly. Staff is also wonderful EVERY time.
Love Schmidt!!! Favorite place hands down in the Rogue Valley. Great food, great wine, beautiful venue, wonderful staff.
Very beautiful! The wines are very tasty & was wonderful with the cheese & fruit plate.
Always a great place. Great wine and excellent staff. They also serve a small good selection of food.
Very beautiful setting. Whether you decide to sit indoors or outdoors, you cannot go wrong. Nice picnic area available on the lawn too. Try the wood oven pizza, looks delicious .
Great staff, great wine, great food, and a beautiful place to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the day.
My all-time favorite winery! The grounds are beautiful with outdoor tables and sun umbrellas overlooking a bridge and pond - and a beautiful garden and gazebos in the back. Good wines - a total experience!
The grounds are lovely, even in the middle of winter- March 8th- Inside is as pleasing- although it was chilly:) They did turn on the fireplace while we were there! We did a full white/red tasting $10 pp. There were 2 of us. We also ordered lunch- I had the Margherita pizza and he had a burger & fries. The burger was good, the fries were coldish and tasted burned although color wise were ok. (Maybe time to change the fry grease) My pizza toppings slid off of each piece I picked up. The dough was soggy/wet and burnt at the same time. I could only eat the cheese topping (and it was bland). I guess that was the universe telling me I didnt need those carbs anyways! The Pinot, the Merlot and the Cab were my top 3s . In that order. Although, the Soulea which was not on our tasting menu, blows the Cab away! We purchased 6 bottles (plus lunch) and still had to pay the tasting fee, which typically in this area is waived with wine purchase. Not here. The Pinot, not usually my favorite was to die for!! The Merlot was full of flavor with a very nice finish! Highly recommend;)
Great grounds, amazing Pizza and special event catering. Love the Syrah!
Fun, beautiful atmosphere. Good wine
This is truly a family run place but no fancy detail has been left undone. The tasting room is beautiful with large windows, a view into the barrel room, a huge stone fireplace, and many wood tables with upholstered chairs to sit and enjoy your wine tasting and/or have lunch. The chef is fantastic and the wood-fired pizzas, salad, beautiful cheese plate, and sandwiches and burgers are lovingly prepared and nicely presented. In the warmer months you can sit outside and eat and wine taste as well. The grandson tends the wine, the daughter runs the tasting room, and the mom and pop own the winery. A wonderful place worth visiting and staying awhile along the Applegate River Valley.
One of my favorite wineries in Southern OR! I come here any chance I get, beautiful setting, great location, authentic pizza, lovely selection of wines, I love the Rosè!
Probably a fluke but, I had probably the worst dinning experience Ive ever had. Took my mom out for mothers day, got there right when they opened and it was already packed. This was our first time out there, so we did not realize we had to seat ourselves, or order at the bar. No one welcomed us or waited on us. Maybe it was my mistake to assume they had a waitstaff but nothing was clear. We sat outside for 2 hours after we ordered, with our number prominitely displayed on our table, but still no one asked how we were, if we needed anything, and our order never came. I paid upfront, so I felt like we were held captive, the line was so long at the counter that I couldnt simply ask where our food was, and I didnt want to just leave because I had spent $60 on food I never recieved. It felt like no one knew where anyone or anything was, no communication, seriously understaffed or overbooked. After 3 hours we were given a refund for the food and a wine bottle because our food never came. Im told its not always like this, and the venue was beautiful, it just seems like they were seriously ill managed. The wine was good.
Very nice place beautiful actually has food and wine and beer
Very nice tasting room and grounds. Pond, garden and restaurant. Food very good. Wines dont quite match up to the environment unfortunately. Wines are good, not great, whites better than reds.
We stopped there last week with friends from out of town. It was around 12:30 p.m. and we decided to have the fruit and cheese platter. It must have been a bad day...there was one small fresh plum, 4 very thin slices of an apple with brown spot, a few 4 or 5 craisins and some cheeses, 2 slices of bread. Our friends old cutting board had a generous chunk of cheese, ours was about half that size. We would recommend getting rid of the cutting boards and serving fresh, seasonal fruit - peaches, apricots, nectarines, melons, grapes, etc. all are ripe now. The price of $15. is outrageous.
Really good help good selection patient and joined the monthly club
Beautiful place and excellent wine. My favorite in the valley!

Great views wine and entertainment
Beautiful grounds, amazing food, and great membership benefits. Sophisticated yet affordable!
Goodness gracious! There are two reviews posted which fair knock me off me pins!I cant fathom the doltish comments about the personnel at Schmidt. Over time I have been at every winery in this area; most hosts are friendly and knowledgeable, the people at Schmidt are perfect - amicable as well as professional. Moreover, I have supped their delicious wine and observed many, many interactions in every season. Sheesh!Insofar at Cal Schmidts approach to wine making, I find it unique to the area and impeccable for adherence to style in the whites which are my choice. Many, many California and Oregon wineries turn out versions of varietals and name them as they were originally perfected in Europe. However, they too-often sacrifice minerality for forward fruit and insufficient fermentation to reach proper residual sugars. What results are perfumed and off-dry and wholly out-of-style.How Mr. Schmidt and crew accomplish their alchemy is for them to hold close to their chests. We may be at peace because he is training his daughter and grandson to carry on this winerys noble pursuits.Heres to them and a hearty pfuito anonymous posters who flail sans knowledge or good manners.
Wine, ambiance, food, all top of the line.
Beautiful venue and good wine!
Lovely ambiance! Great wines.
The worst, most unfriendly, anal-retentive bunch of Californian snobs Ive ever seen !!! They really dont care about Oregonians at all... GO HOME!!! By the way, way overpriced average wine
