Good service and distancing measures in place pleasant workers
Got in and quickly. Got copy needed
Great way for customers to shop
Voted early. Staff was well organized.
I went to vote. Quick and easy.
Not enough exists confusing layout
I love going down by the Calder and relaxing the big tire swing down there is a definite plus! If you are a tourist or new in town this is a spot to stop!
The Calder sculpture was in progress of being repainted during my visit. The square has lovely patio furnishings but is essentially a dead zone at the moment for having an atmosphere. Looking forward to seeing what the Calder plaza project will do to revitalize the area!
We were there for the Hispanic Festival. Great food and music. Nice family atmosphere. Bought one of the new Mexico soccer jerseys. They came out with 3 new jersey, s for this coming season. Even though my last name is White I am 82% Mexican. Viva La Raza.
Went and saw Bernie Sanders rally. Was absolutely awesome. Go Bernie!
Cool area to visit
We went do to the Hispanic Festival! It was a great area! They were in the process of repainting it so half of it was covered but not going to complain about them making it look better and maintaining it!
I went to the county clerk to get a birth certificate, was in and out in15 minutes, parking was easy and it was easy to navigate the building!
In an out dont forget to vote
Very nice downtown
Perfect gathering place for events downtown. Its near public parking, the river, and downtown bars and restaurants.
I love having the opportunity to watch performing arts from this stage. I noticed that there are nice large screens for people to watch that dont have a good vantage point. It would be better if the screens could be placed higher and angled. Because the area for seating is limited.
Beautiful plaza just beautiful tho it could use more seating and maybe more accent sculptures or shrubbery but all in all the centerpiece is beautiful so two thumbs up
Its a neat clean Govt building. Attractive.
Amazing structure. Great location to have a bit to eat afterwards
Was cool
Great spot to visit!
Enjoyable place for a festival. I took my daughter to Pride Festival and we enjoyed it very much. I will be going to other events in the future.
The Calder recently underwent a repaint, and this public place has never looked better.
This is a pretty great place to visit. Plenty of space to walk around, nice piece of iconic art for GR, plus on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Fridays Calder Plaza has a couple of tasty food trucks (lunch time only).
Festival of the arts is the best summertime activity in Grand Rapids!
Nice place
I bit cramped. Hispanic Festival was ok, food lacked in flavor. I enjoyed the AFRICAN FESTIVAL BETTER
The band that played wsy way in the back in the corner did the BEST & HAD THE LARGEST AUDIENCE. THEY SHOULDVE BEEN FRONT & CENTER. THE WERE THE BEST
Fun place to visit while in GR. The sculpture is a staple of GR. Usually fun events happen here.
Place is always clean and well kept up. No public bathrooms that im aware of. Theres really not much to do there unless its festival of the arts or concerts going on there. But its still a fun place to go sit and enjoy the sunshine. Plus i think they still got the big tire swing there.
Pretty place
Very hot, not much shade. But the Gaines Festival was fun and the water balloon fight was really fun.
They should relocate the Calder, to a better location. ....close too the Museum. ...so traffic along U.S131 can see it.
Always fun festivals and what not over here. Never really any toxic people around this portion of downtown so I really enjoy it
Its nice to see the citys logo
Classic Grand Rapids sculpture. For as long as I can remember I have always loved this Alexander Calder piece.
There is usually festivals in this area and its fun.
Just checked out everything they are changing things it was nice
Beautiful!! Great event space! Visited during 2019 Pride Festival, it was lovely.
It is statuesque to Grand Rapids yet the space lacks physical appearance and comfortability that promotes gatherings without a hosted event. Hopefully, the development plan for G.R will address this and create more of a leisure welcoming :-)
A big empty plaza when events are not going down so it may seem vacant about 80% of the year. When summer events come about the plaza makes the downtown area seem alive.
Such a nice area!
I love this photo because it shows the restoration half completed
Love this place. Never been inside but, is a fun spot to visit in downtown
Good place to just chill in the city. Events here are the best reason to go.
It was pretty awesome I havent been there since I was younger many years but it was nice . The ice cream was so good waffle cone.
All the Bands play at the Calder Plaza its always live and fun there. Safe place for everybody.
Went to Calder Plaza as part of the yearly Festival of the Arts. A nice space for events, room for a stage and bleachers
Nice oh, I remember Bethel Pentecostal Church singing down there every year and I loved it.
Its just a huge concrete slab that would theoretically be nice for events except that its all concrete and there is no shade. The art installation is nice, but theres nothing else here.
I loved taking pictures there
The most famous sculpture in Grand Rapids. Always good to see. Very controversial when it was installed. Some folks just couldnt understand why the city would spend that much money on this monstrosity. Turned out to be a great investment and became a city namesake.
I watched the Calder installed and love the way the City maintains this focal point of our community
Ways a nice place to chill for a bit they now have patio furniture to relax in
Under construction right now getting new paint done
A beautiful monument in downtown Grand Rapids. A good way to introduce Calder into your family and friends art repertoire or maybe just your own. A short walk from La Grande Vitesse is the Grand Rapids Public Library if you have an interest to further your Calder education. Or any interest you might have in another subject. Dont forget to visit the 3rd floor bookstore. Great prices on paperback and hardcover books, cds and dvds for all ages! Most books are $.25 to $1 and $3-$5 for oversized books. Cds and DVDs $1.
Great time watching my grandaughter along with all the other things going on.
Got seats with backs and very soon in shade (Friday was one of our 3 summer days afterall) and thoroughly enjoyed all we could hear of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony!
Check out Motu viget, aka the giant the swing
Was extremely inebriated at Pride. Sat comfortably on the steps for 4 hours. Was fun.
Never went inside, just walked by it
No parking. Just a big red thing in the middle of a bunch of concrete. I get that its a tourist thing, but Im not impressed.
One if the main downtown venues. Excellent place to park and walk too.
A cool spot to stop right in downtown GR. During festival it is a great center point for the main activities.
I love all things Alexander Calder! This Stabile is impressive in size & color. I found the Flamingo in Chicago by accident. Its so large I was intrigued by the sheer size. LA GRANDE is large enough to make you stop & wander around. But not feel significantly small. All things Alexander Calder are worth the visit. Hes a genius
It was nice getting a fresh coat of paint on it
It was easy to get to inspite of all the Construction downtown. The people were friendly, and service was quick.
We have fun at the festival..
If youve never been here, its a must see. The Calder is a landmark for the city. When Im usually here is for festival or the color run.
Meh. Large plaza with a sculpture in the centre. Not much else. No free parking in the area and not much else to do around it.
Cant wait for the plaza update. Long overdue!
Not much to report. Its basically just a big concrete space to host an event. As a venue there isnt much in the way of shelter, so if it rains youre going to get rained on (bring an umbrella) but it does have the added benefit of being right above a parking structure.Off centered in the massive plaza is a massive and somewhat rediculous monument called the Calder, that Grand Rapids has chosen to represent the city as a whole. The one thing that immidiately stands out: its large. Its an obnoxious red. It serves virtually no practical use other than occupying space (it does not double as shelter even). But it exists so you have at least something to look at in the plaza.Sometimes big events will be held in the plaza. Usually, their taking place in the plaza is unremarkable, incidental, and unrelated to the plaza itself, but it does represent one thing in the community of Grand Rapids: a large area where people in the diverse city can gather outdoors and experience something together. So while I have been a bit harsh, yes it is an Its Okay level of experience that is altogether unremarkable.
Love visiting at night, very peaceful.
The Calder is interesting, but its just empty space when there is no event going on,it is open to the public...
Huge tire swing nw of Calder is cool
Disappointed. Went to the Festival of the Arts and there is NO MORE FREE PARKING for the disabled.Getting to expensive from the parking to the food. Wouldnt be surprised if the Festival dwindles away in 5-6 years Music was good.
Covered in Dookie everywhere nothing but fecal. Unacceptable
It is simply the best place in the world to view La Grand Vitesse. However it has very little else to recommend it.
1st time there for color run, fun time.
Really showcasing our city with great features and events in the city!
Clean great place for Gizelles Girl run.
Had a great day at the Riverbank Run hosted by Amway.
Its a nice statue thing.
Its cool.
Great time! Fireworks where great
Beautiful abstract sculpture. A Grand Rapids icon.
