1st time going to 20 Monroe live and it was fantastic! We upgraded to V.I.P seats, the staff, private restroom and lounge was top notch. Drinks are a little pricey but what you expect, your at a concert. Definitely felt safe with all the security and definitely coming back for another awesome concert as a V.I.P.
This was my first time at 20 Monroe and I was absolutely blown away by the venue. The floor layout is great and the sound delivery/system is out of this world. My only gripe would be against the price of drinks, but thats to be expected and it didnt deter me from getting a $9 24oz pour of PBR.August Burns Red killed it as expected .
Fantastic venue for entertainment. They have a large open area that can be used for dancing, or if the show requires it, they can fill that space with seating. They do have mezzanine seating all around the stage and there isnt really a bad seat. I appreciate their attention to security, they take it quite seriously. They always have special drinks based on their shows which is kind of cool. Drinks are a bit overpriced but then again, they have a number of events with free tickets available. Beastie Boys Tribute Band, The Imposters, was a blast!
I’ve been to 20 Monroe a few times and most recently to see Johnnyswim. Here are my thoughts: the fees when purchasing tickets are high, the drink costs are high, but the venue size is near perfect. I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house. I’ve seen more popular bands here as well as a comedy show- every time I’ve been to 20 Monroe has been a good experience. There are lots of security staff which makes you a bit more comfortable and able to enjoy why you’re at the venue in the first place. I’ve never had to wait more than a maybe couple minutes for a drink- there is plenty of bar space and staff so you’re not missing the show!
20 Monroe live is a great place to see a concert. The acoustics are amazing! The venue is nice and small so if you get there early you can get right up by the stage. We were three rows away from the band!! These photos are from when we saw the Pixies. If you have sensitive hearing -sometimes the speakers are loud so bring earplugs if you think you need them. Prices on tickets tend to be reasonable, so we are able to see more concerts at 20 Monroe than we are at other venues like Meijer Gardens. The venue is also right in the heart of downtown which makes the experience awesome if you are looking to eat/drink local either before or after the concert. Give this venue a try and I guarantee you will be back!
Came here to see Vance Joy and Alice Merton, won free tickets. I was very impressed with the venue. Lots of space in the general admission floor, plus good views from the seats upstairs. Good drink options at the bar (they had, I believe, 4 bars in here!), although prices were kinda steep...$6 for well drinks! My only complaint would be they need a second set of bathrooms downstairs as there was only 1 one and it was upstairs, so it was somewhat challenging to get to the bathroom, and get in and out quickly....ladies, you know what I mean! Overall though, great experience and I plan on returning very soon! (Like in 3 days to see Gin Blossoms! )
This is a superb venue! Well laid out and every seat in the house have a great view of the stage. Being wider and less deep brings you closer to the bands. Kory Miller or Live Nation host is always amazing and their personal attention to you makes you want to visit again. I would recommend spending the additional money for the VIP experience.
Great environment, great staff! Get the Vanguard, so worth the money! Relax, enjoy, drink, eat, have fun.
This venue is great. It feels intimate but still seats quite a few people. The line to get inside was around the block. They had people come through and check ID and give wrist bands for alcohol so it was already done before they opened the doors. Once the doors opened it was very fast to get inside. Security was good, passing the wand over you quickly. In todays climate its nice to know theyre doing what they can to keep people safe. The show was great and lots of fun. Ill be sure to come back next time someone is playing who I wish to see.
We had an awesome time at this venue! It is smaller but still enough room to have a great experience! We went to see I Prevail and their show was amazing. Their was not a bad seat in the whole venue honestly.
Personally, I LOVE Live Music. It is great that there is another venue in the West Michigan area catering to this. My son and I have seen a number of shows at 20 Monroe. It is awesome. The sound is amazing, a smaller venue for an up close experience. Drinks are a bit high but I understand they have to pay the bills. Great place to see a show!
This is a fantastic place to see a show!!! A nice small venue that makes for not having a bad seat in the house! We went there and watched the movie Moulin Rouge and then a concertMy wife and I were very happy with everything there and all the workers we encountered were super nice. I will definitely be going back here for many more concerts in the future! An added bonus is that its right downtown so you can hit a few breweries and then see a show and then go back to other breweries! Its a win win situation for sure!!!
Awesome place. Can see the stage good everywhere.
20 Monroe has good acoustics, reasonable drink prices (especially for a concert venue), clean restrooms, and friendly staff. I got in line about 45 minutes before doors opened, because I had general admission tickets, and even though it was a sold out show, I had a great view. Im 56 and I do feel that if I were shorter it would have been difficult to see, though. If height is an issue, Id recommend paying the extra for balcony seats if possible. I didnt order any food, so I cant comment on quality, but I can tell you that food was available.
20 Monroe Live is a great venue to see any performance. The front row seating will cut off some of the view of the stage. The side seats on the mezzanine will cut off some of your view since the speakers are hanging in the way. The mezzanine provides a great view and is not far from the bar and restrooms. Parking can be tough in the area. But I heard they have Valet parking for a fee. They offer an unlimited fountain drink option.
A cool, modern venue where you can see some surprisingly popular bands up close. One big letdown - the craft beer and cider selection is not good and is pricey! My wife isn’t that picky but couldn’t find a single drink she wanted. Confusing how the upper level seating works also.
Nas put on a classic show. If u can; pay him whatever, just to have him back. Great Show!!!?
We had a fun time at the Thunderstruck Concert! Pretty full house and no one was being stupid
Great place for concerts!!!Seen a few here and on the bottom floor is all standing room only, no seating. You can watch the concerts in seats, but you must ask and pay extra for Balcony Seating. Beers and well drinks are priced high...should be expected during all entertainment events, no matter what venue you go to. They do have popcorn and very little snacks. The set up is great. Bar in the lobby and a long bar once you go in the venue. There is also a bar for the balcony seating on the second floor. All in all....a great venue.
Weve seen several concerts here, in all parts of the venue (GA and different spots in the mezzanine) and in every place the music sounds great and you have a decent view of the stage. Drinks are crazy expensive though; just go to the BOB after the show if youre thirsty.
Great venue!! Accoustics are great, with plenty of bars to get refreshments before and during the show. Friendly and helpful staff. Was a little cold on the floor when they opened but warmed up when packed with bodies. Only downfall really is restrooms on 2nd floor. Highly recommended!!
Hell of a place to see a show.. Whether your standing in general admission or sitting in the mezzanine section... Will be going back for sure... We Saw...I Prevail August 9th 2019.. They put on a hell of a show.. Congrats on Trauma Tour
Really fun atmosphere! Live dancers are great! Really like the drink ticket option!
Saw Marilyn Manson LIVE IN CONCERT!! I was a little worried because of the wild storys I had heard about his concerts... Lol. But everything went very well, really enjoyed it!! ️ Even got parking right across the street!
The venue is very nice. I was in the GA floor which I was able see very well. I wish there were bathrooms on the first floor too and not just on the second floor.
Saw Skillet and Alter Bridge. Had the VIP Vanguard tickets. Great view of the stage from the side mezzanine and the staff was professional and helpful. Great concert experience!
Great Venue! Had a blast at Third Eye Blind! Had some great food and service at Gillys Smokehouse before the show, highly recommend!
Very professional staff. Very nice. And some were very helpful. Some just walked passed my daughter and I when we asked where our seats were but we were able to get someone else attention and they were more then helpful
Awesome venue! Friendly and realistic staff/security. Hands down the coolest mural (Johnny Cash) Ive seen in 20+ years of seeing live music at indoor venues. Clean, maintained and operating bathrooms is always a nice find. Ill be back!!!
Great venue! The size is perfect for a show. No seat is bad. Plenty of bars around to keep lines low.
Great venue great acoustics the sound in the mezzanine was unbelievable!!! Quick to find seats loved everything about this place except the cost of alcohol. Extreme but you get what you pay for.
Excellent venue. Right downtown Grand Rapids across the street from the Van Andel Arena. Not too huge. Very loud. X Ambassador show was great there.
Loved these guys they done a great job
One of the best venues Ive ever been to. For such a small space, it definitely has a lot of room for huge acts to come. Sound quality is amazing, and the atmosphere is the best.
Went to 20 Monroe Live to see Kevin Gates. Lets just say that it was lit. I was a little reserved about standing the entire time but it was fine. It is a very nice venue great lighting, great sound, and a great experience overall. Kevin Gates as well as his opening acts put on a good show.
Good sized venue, not overwhelming. Adore the wait staff making rounds with their LED trays. Smart move checking ID and giving wrist bans in que. It sped up the door.
They take great care of their guests! Ensured I had a spot to sit during the show since I walk with a cane. They also threw free tickets to the audience for an upcoming show!
The venue as well designed. Everything is easily accessible. Multiple bars multiple bathrooms lots of clear signage to know where to go. Also coat check is relatively available. Security and ticket scanning goes by pretty quick. Also at the end of the show venue clears out rather quickly
Checked out extreme midget wrestling, venue is of good size.
This is the best venue in Grand Rapids!! You can get up close & personal at a good price!! It costs a bit more for an upgrade. Great bands and acts.
The staff was very professional and friendly. Accesability was easy. I think its easily one of my favorite venues to go to. I went to see that arena rock show last week and look forward to many more shows at 20 Monroe!
We saw Highly Suspect, and sat in the lower mezzanine. It was an amazing experience. Comfortable seats, wait staff available at your seats, and Great view! Amazing sound system too!
Great service! Staff was amazingly helpful with guests in all aspects. The amenities offered for VIP guests is well worth it. Will highly recommend this venue, and be back myself!
Great venue!!:) alcohol served with special names pertaining to your event. adorable.
It was a nice setup. We were on the floor standing, lots of pushing and shoving. More so then most concerts Ive been at, i been to a lot of concerts and music events. We decided next time we will do seats. Id go back there again for sure
Play this place was awesome and I would probably go back again for another concert. It was my 1st time crowd surfing and the mash pit was pretty cool to. They had some cool things were you could win free stuff I managed to win free concert tickets.
This was our first time here and we had a pretty good time. We had received free tickets from a friend, the tickets had seats listed on them but it turns out that the seats were only for those who had actually paid for them, not a big deal as we didnt mind standing but it is something others may want to keep in mind. These pictures were taken standing about level with the mezzanine (from the floor) - for those taller than me (Im 52) the view was great, I ended up watching from other peoples cell phones .The staff was fantastic; helpful, courteous and fun. The show was WAY busier than they had anticipated but everyone kept a smile and good sense of humor - things ran like a well oiled machine and had I not asked I never wouldve known that this show was anything more than they expected.Like any other event like this the drinks were OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive (with tip nearly $30 for one short and one tall mixed drinks) but there are a ton of locations nearby to get your drink on before and after, if you so choose.Overall I am incredibly impressed with 20 Monroe Live - the atmosphere and staff were amazing and for free tickets I couldnt have asked for a better experience. Im looking forward to many more visits in the future - but next time Ill pay for seats .
Nice venue for a more intimate show than Van Andel. No bad view and the mezzanine seating appears legit, but the floor GA is great too. The way the music sounded was great for a smaller venue (very clear- not too loud or too soft). The place is clean and has nice upkeep and the amount of bars in the place to access for drinks is excellent. Always a great lineup of shows/bands too!
Awesome venue for concerts! Several bars inside for drinks, great ventilation to help keep the temps cool, Ill definitely be back
Its a beautiful venue, its always been very clean. I went to four concerts there since they opened. They all sounded great, the bartenders were friendly and sometimes even recommended some drinks to try. The security was awesome there too, best Ive seen at any venue in grand rapids!
Fun place to see a show, bad place to have a drink! Drink prices are outrageous. Dont buy your tickets when they go on sale! They almost always discount them deeply a couple weeks before the show. Twice now Ive paid over $30-40 a ticket only to see them on sale for $10 the week of the show!
Nice but very expensive.. like not worth it expensive. Try the Fillmore! Wanted to charge me 35 dollars for 2 lemon juices and vodka.. bahahaha. No.
Just the right size for sight and sound. Drink service is good and show prices are reasonable.
There were definitely a couple problems. I paid a lot to see World of Dance and it would have been better if I was familiar with the show or the dancers, but it turned out to be somewhat entertaining. We werent very happy when we arrived at 6:30 for a 7 PM show learned it didnt start until 8. The tickets showed 7:00, as well as the website. They should not show the time the doors open on all the publications. There were a lot of unhappy people standing around for an hour and a half.
First time here at 20 Monroe live!! We really enjoyed watching collective soul rock out!!!
Overly-agressive security and very poor acoustics knocks 2 stars off. However, the stage and lighting are impressive, and its very easy to get a drink.
I have been to almost every venue in Mid-Michigan. Not saying 20 Monroe Live is my favorite one, but I was happy with everything about the place. Will definitely be going back if there is a show worth seeing. Helps that it is in Grand Rapids, it is a nice and fun city to explore.
It was a good place and I had a good experience. One peeve I had with it was the layout, but that is less to do with them and more to do with the building. I definitely recommend this venue
Went there for Extreme Midget Wrestling, cool venue, good time, a little pricey on drinks, but youre downtown so it is what it is...
Fresh pretzels, great staff, recommend a stool table or both for sure
Nice place for concerts. Just wish they had bathroom on the main floor. And cheaper beer prices, $10 for a beer that you can buy for $1.50 at a gas station...come on
Beautiful venue for live music. Alter Bridge and Skillet didnt disappoint
Good venue, even the balcony seating looks like it would have a good view. Sat on the floor row B on the left and you could almost touch the stage. The floor seats are just folding chairs, but bolted together and a little close each other... I was very close with my neighbors.
Had a great time at the Nas concert.
Saw Aaron Lewis and it was a awesome show! Drink prices were a little high but the venue was really nice. We sat in the upper mezzanine and the seats were comfortable and the view was perfect .
Great venue for shows. Love the open space on the floor. The bars are clean, with excellent service. The Dan Band was nothing but pure fun, and the ooening DJ was awesome.
Great location and has a really nice staff. Also they have a coat check.
Great location, great sound!! If you are short or dont like general admission crowd get balcony. Still great sounds and view.
Good venue. Its a bit pricey, but thats on par with anything downtown. Premium seats are the best, youre truly treated like a VIP.
Great venue! I was here for Blues Traveler on 2/2/18. The place is the perfect size where its not overcrowded. Its a chance to see your favorite band in a more intimate setting. The place is connected to the B.O.B. where theres some great restaurants. Id definitely go back for another show!
Attended a concert here and really enjoyed it. The venue is big enough to host some great artists and small enough to feel somewhat intimate. Our seats in the balcony still felt really close to the show. Staff there was helpful and friendly. The drink stations are set up with screens showing the stage and the lines were quick so you dont miss much.
Nice venue. Drinks were reasonably priced. Staff was nice.
Awesome place to see a metal show!
Nice little concert hall. First band to see here was Sum 41. Excited to check out some other bands here. They have seating and standing. Standard expensive venue bar prices. They also offer uchellos as food vendor.
20 Monroe live is a great place to see a show. I do not think this venue has a bad seat and the whole place. I was amazed at the sound quality and lighting. And the staff was super friendly and helpful getting us to our seats. I look forward to seeing many more artist there. I have been to a lot of venues and I have to say this is one of my favorites.
Nice venue. Wer had a studio 54 night, or wasd a great time. Spacious, incredible entertainment, good spread of food, courteous staff.
Great venue to see a show. Upstairs had seats and the lower level is typically general admission and youll be standing.
Weve enjoyed some great concerts at this new to GR spot. Not a huge space. Crazy expensive drinks!
Great venue. Ive been there twice now and the staff is great, the sound is real good and its just the right size for a concert.
First concert was to see Ski Mask the Slump God, it was good
I went to see Scotty MCcreery, though it was a great concert, the cops had blocked off a couple of roads that were supposed to take you close by.
Great venue. Just the right size so no matter where you sit you have a great view.
Great event for smaller events. Not too crowded, lots of parking options around the event center, and it’s right in downtown Grand Rapids which makes walking to and from restaurants and bars before and after your event super convenient
We had a blast seeing Fitz and the Tantrums here. Im 8 1/2 months pregnant and when I realized our standing room only tickets were gonna make for an uncomfortable night the staff was incredibly kind and helped us to get seats so we could enjoy the show!
Went to see Good Charlotte here. You cant leave once you enter.
Wonderful venue. Been there several times would recommend it to see any concerts that perform their
Everyone was very attentive. Anything we needed we had. This made for a wonderful concert experience. Best venue so far.
Fair warning. If you get general admission tickets, there isnt seating. So youll have to stand the whole concert. Plus side, youre really close to the band! The drinks were a little overpriced. The atmosphere was good though. I wouldnt mind coming back up to see another concert here sometime.
Great venue, easy to find, great drinks and bar service. Staff is vigilant about those recording when its prohibited.
Bumpin sound system, awesome specialty drinks that tasted amazing, cool mezzanine upstairs. Highly recommend. Fight broke out and security broke it up immediately and even tossed out the aggressor. Highly recommend.
Went and saw Alter Bridge and Skillet with Broken Love. Great concert venue. Staff was great and really helped pull the show together. The rail, though at the stage was very sticky and needed cleaned. But other than that I really enjoyed the show.
Would love to go again one day
Doesnt allow glow sticks or re-entry. Staff basically threw us out as soon as it was over. It feels like the gym of a church with a stage built in. Very odd vibe.
Really enjoy the venue. Great parking, restaurants, and bars nearby.
Most of the space is a giant floor where everyone stands. Thats fine for some shows, but when its 3+ hours with warm up bands Im gonna pass.
