I love this place and these people!! The volunteer leaders pour their hearts and souls into the students. They love them, pray for them, listen to them, invest in them and laugh with them. It’s safe, fun and a great place to connect with God as well as make friends.
Volunteered for weed pulling; ended up having no access to inside, or any supplies (water, bathroom, gloves, etc.). There was a porter porty, but it was on uneven ground, and the lock didnt work for the most part, which the door would swing wide open. I, personally got really bad blisters. It was super hot, close to the 100s. Second day; it was raining, and other kids were there, and i was aloud inside. So, in conclusion the second day was over all better, but still not good. When my mom confronted the leader; she had said, Last year we had kids cleaning the bleaches with toothbrushes.. I am all for hard work, but these conditions to pull weeds, all to go to a church conference. Plus, this didnt happen to just me, both me and my sister-who has/had terrible allergies were also suffering in the heat, with no shade. The leader said that she watched the video footage and we didnt do anything but we did our best with the conditions we were given. Just in case anyone who considers to go to one of the conferences, and volunteers to work for the money that they know what they may have to deal with. The kicker is we asked if we couldve babysat or didnt something else to do that wouldnt put us in direct heat, she said no. Its safe to say we didnt return to the youth group. I only wanted to post this as a warning, or to see if anyone had a similar experience.
Awesome, safe place for Middle and High School students to connect with God, build positive friendships, and learn practical ways to live the best life they can.
