Primarily a transition skateboarder I really enjoyed the mini ramp and the bowl there at YDG. I guess the park could be cleaner and maybe has a few rough edges, but what can you expect? Not the dirtiest skate warehouse I have been to. The skatelite surface can be very slippery if you have older and street worn wheels. Last time I visited I bought a complete skateboard and was AMAZED at the difference in grip I felt with new (Militant) wheels compared to the wheels on my old board. Its a great place for Graham.
Im usually much more critical in my appraisals of parks, as I know they are also often family-oriented and need to be especially appealing to parents of young children. But YDG is just that, a great place to skate and also a trustworthy business. The owner put a lot of work into getting Graham their own park and is good about keeping things clean and well-kempt. I usually skate on Mondays, when there is a discount, but weekends and the rest of the week usually also sees plenty of traffic and the vibe is always really friendly and welcoming. Id recommend this place to parents of and skaters themselves. The miniramp is slightly flat at the 3 section, and the effect is worse at the 4 part, but not so bad that it makes it not worth skating. The bowl is great, one of the best around, but the masonite can be particularly slippy, so be careful if you have street wheels (which are less grippy and usually have to slip around on concrete more easily). There is not as much flat land for the kiddos to practices flips and such, but the rest of the skaters are really good about being aware of one another and Ive never seen a collision in the two or so years Ive been going to YDG.
Had lots of fun here!
