A precious nearby gem - fun to explore! So many beautiful areas in this little park. Unfortunately there is lots of broken glass and some trash around.*I dont know how to respond back to the business... I just want them to know that we also try to pick up any trash we see. Well bring a couple bags next time we come. The glass is a big deal though... theres lots of it over by the graveyard and the path leading up to it. We should collect it and make art! :) Thanks for your response - we love your park!

The amount of Historical buildings and artifacts, especially their Civil War Collection is second to none in the area. Some of the buildings are in a state of disrepair due to lack of funding (the park runs on mostly donations I believe.) There is a nice meadow area in the back of the park with an amazing overlook above the Neuse River. Id recommend Old Waynesborough Park to History junkies, although, it has a regional focus specific to Southeastern NC with all of the buildings being original to Wayne County.

We were greeted by 2 barking dogs that ran to us barking and jumping on 2 five year olds scratching one and scared the other who kept saying hes trying to eat my shirt ( we have a great Dane ). While being told I should have made an appointment to see the historic area I had to keep pushing the dogs away with my foot while holding both kids. I had 5 other kids with me who were afraid to move. We wanted to see the museum welcome center also. Not once did the person pull the dogs back or try to keep them away or lock them in an office. No the dogs were not vicious aggressors. But they were extremely inappropriate for a public place and their owner was hugely irresponsible and insensitive. I loaded 7 kids back in the van returned to the visitor center and asked, yes or no can we see the village area? The person was more interested in questioning how we ended up there and why. I explained again we saw the sign and decided to stop. Yes or no can we see it? She did go and open the doors accompanied by the dogs. After she returned to museum welcome center. We enjoyed the area. Very nice look at life before electricity. Can not comment on museum welcome center. If it were not for the irresponsible dog owner it is a definite stop and see 1to 2 hours easy small path area.

Beautiful park and amazing historical buildings to tour. The welcome center has a really interesting collection of civil war artifacts to see. The employee on staff today was very friendly and knowledgeable about the items and buildings on display. If you are travelling anywhere near the Goldsboro area this is a great little museum to visit and on a nice day the park and trails behind are perfect for a picnic lunch and to stretch your legs. Reasonably close to the downtown areas you can grab subs or whatever to-go and come here to eat and explore

Perfect place for photo opportunities and a great place to pack a lunch and bring the family. Waynesboro State Park is a surprising little place tucked away in the outskirts of Goldsby. Several historic houses were brought in and placed strategicly reminiscent of an old town. Nice for a Sunday outting. You can walk or ride your bike on the trails.

Listed as part of Wayne County Geotrail. I was going to speak in the visitor center and grabbed my pocketbook In case they had items for sell but the door was locked at 4:00. Rude lady came via car and told me geocaching and Pokémon were not welcome. I had driven an hour and a half and would never had made the trip there without the game. The lady called a superior by her telephone and shoved the phone in my face twice (germs). I’m a nurse and enjoy getting outside especially with the spring weather. I felt totally unwelcomed.

Mad that we only discovered this park in January, after living nearby for four years. Its right off 117, easy to miss. Slow down once you see the Armory on the other side of the street.Lots of historical information up front, houses to look at, exhibits. Check those hours separately. (I believe you can rent spaces for events, too.)We have used the park in the back more. Theres a 2 mile loop trail that will be underwater part of the way if the water is up. (If you think it looks soggy, it gets worse. Turn back and take the blue trail shortcut.)Dogs love the sniffs; we love the exercise and (mostly) quiet. Busco Beach is right across the river, so youll hear the ATVs if theyre having an event. Else, wonderful, and right next to almost-downtown Goldsboro.

Old Waynesborough Park is located just west of Goldsboro at the site of the former town of Waynesborough. Originally the seat of Wayne County, the town began to lose residents with the coming of the railroad to nearby Goldsboro. What remained of the town was burned by Union troops during the civil war. In the 1980s, Waynesborough was a state park and transferred to the Old Waynesborough Commission in 1999. Today, there are about 4 miles of hiking trails along the Neuse River and a historical village with buildings representing Wayne Countys past. Across the Neuse River is an ATV park, so expect the loud engine noise while on the trails. At a couple points, we had a nice view across the river and enjoyed watching them splash through big mud puddles. We took our dog for a hike here while visiting Goldsboro and had a really nice time.

Luv to visit here take photos of people win i take photo sessions of others. The only thing i dislike is one of the workers as i always ask is it ok tp take photos of others the lady always has an additude when asked & tells us that we have to stay in one area. Why would we have to dtay in one area unless a wedding is going that would be understandable but when not then it really isnt a problem rpaming to take photos in other areas of the park. Make me at times not wanting to visit and go other places to take photos of otherss.
