I made the trail hike with my family and we had an awesome time. It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to walk the top. And about the same time going down. You will find 2 ways to walk the trail. From the North side and from the South side. Start from the South side going counter clockwise around because its less steep from this side. If you want a steeper walk then start from the North side going clockwise. Its about 3.5 miles to the top. Make sure to take a partner with you just in case. The recommend 2 or more people to do the trail walk. Also, make sure to bring plenty of water to drink.
To enter this trail, you must park in a neighborhood on the side of the road which I am sure the residents arent too keen on. Once you hit the fork in the road, South trail has more inclines and its novice level. North goes higher so the views are worth this trail alone. Majority of the hikers start with North and make their way down South trail which is still a glute workout still. Glendale is so peaceful and quiet so the hike is a well deserved way to reconnect with nature and a pause from rabid stimuli.
Great loop to get some good exercise and a lot of elevation gain for SoCal. Bring lots of water!
After summiting Baden-Powell on Wednesday, this was cake. I alternate between Beaudry, Whiting Woods, La Tuna, and Las Flores to keep in shape for the bigger hikes in the ANF.. Beaudry is my favorite hike in the Verdugos because its a little more shaded in the early afternoon and the north road is a steadier climb. Im still waiting for a clear day where I can see the ocean, Catalina etc. Guess Ill have to wait for one of those crisp winter days
Nice training ground for those who wants to improve cycling hill climb. More shade spots than other fire roads.
I absolutely love this trail. I feel like I push myself a little harder every time I hit this mountain. Its not hard but it is long. I do a little over 6 miles in 2 hours 30. Maybe its a little slow but I do have short legs and take my time. I would suggest to always take a buddy tho. This trail could be lonely. Youll seriously bump into 3-8 people during your trek. Safety first friends.
All inclined but with good sights along the way. Barely any people and the few are friendly.
This is a nice hike over Glendale to the antennae at the top of the mountain, with 360 views form downtown to the ocean. Pretty steep at times but easy enough, bring plenty of water and a hat as it is on a naked fire road under the sun, no trees; the loop takes about 2h at an easy pace. Not very crowded and plenty of street parking.
Very prety! No bathrooms or Water fountains so make sure you go prior and bring tons of water .
The hike is on a fire road. Its got great views. I wouldnt go midday in the summer. Bring water. Practice LNT. Trashcans at Trailhead.
Great hike with friends and a couple bottles of vino!
This is one of the most hikes that Ive had in several years. I definitely recommend this hike for the beginner to intermediate and even the advanced level. I get a good workout by using them elevation mask all the way to the top where the antennas are located.
Awesome wild flowers near the peak. Practically no shade, so bring a hat, sunscreen, and lots of water.
Tough hike but great views of downtown LA to the west, Burbank to the north and more mountains to the east.
Moderate difficulty and a perfect trail to burn a lot of calories.
Dont recommend for beginners, but its a beautiful journey.
Getting in touch with nature and close to the city is the best. Walk or hike you name it.
Beautiful hike! Pay close attention to the signs though because its easy to miss your turn.
Really enjoyed this 5 mile hike. I have been in Glendale for over 20 years and I never realize this hike existed. It is a nice hike and I definitely recommend bringing water as there is a slow incline but you’ll be tired by the time you get to the top
I highly recommend hiking up the South Trail for a more challenging hike compared to the North Trail.
The Best trail ever. I enjoy going there very much whether walking or cycling. The best inspiring fresh canyon ever! Magestic view
I really enjoy the whole view Loa AngelesTo San Fermando Valley and beyond!
My favorite hiking place, I love it
One of the best day hikes in Los Angeles
Decent views on a clear day, but there are better hikes nearby. It does allow dogs, which is great, but a lot of owners obviously dont clear up after them, so theres a lot of poop along the trail.
Great trail with fantastic views. Incline but not bad.
Therere lovely spots to observe sunsets over LA suburbs. You can see Pacific ocean and WestSide on the left. Colors are just amazing.
Great trail absolutely worth the view
This trail get to view Burbank, La Crescenta, and Glendale
Im training for Spacerock here!
Great hike, depends which way you want to go in how difficult you want to make the hike, either a hard start with gentle slope down or easy start with a steep decent down.Easy parking if you start early
This 2.5 hr hike offers multiple scenic viewpoints and lots of wildlife! There is not too much shade at the top, though, so make sure to bring sunscreen and water for you and your dog.
An excellent fire road loop route in northern Glendale. Probably too hot from July through September.
Great 6 mile hike with inclines and flat surfaces
Love this trail. Intermediate and beautiful views
Nice ascents/descents into the verdugo mountains with friendly hikers, dogs, etc
This is a moderate to hard trail, but the view of the city is amazing from Northbound or South bound.
This is a horrible place...dont come here and park in my space...because I I love it and its amazing and beautiful and nice but there isnt enough parking for all of us and I was here first so go away ;)
Beautiful trail for running
Off of Country Club Drive in Glendale. Path is easy to find. Starts out with a pretty good incline and doesnt really let up till you reach the top. Mostly exposed fire road. Best to come early morning or early evening. Only saw a couple hikers. Were more bikers. Footing is good. Path down is very comfortable on the knees and all. Overall a good workout with little impact. Views are pretty cool too!
Good trail. Mostly fire road. Not too crowded even on weekends. Connects to other trails at the top.
One of the best local trails around
Very beautiful hike. Alot of vista points overlooking different parts of the city. Done in nice weather it is just an absolutely gorgeous hike. The scenary is also great, with alot of greenary and diverse amount of plants and foliage. Really good destressing and relaxing hike that is not too terribly difficult or extraneous.
Nice hike but do it in the morning there is not alot of shade
Great hike
Sweeping vistas and a cardio-thumping incline make this trail one of the best workouts in the area.
Great hike! Even for a quick jaunt
Awsome
Wonderful hike, beautiful views, would do this hike a thousand times.
Cute little hike with some decent elevation and great views.
A long loop, plan ahead as it will take longer than expected
Perfect
Gorgeous trail. Not much shade though.
Great views in all directions
Great night hikes
Short and easy hike
Scary at night!
One of my favorites
Not too crowded...if heading up before sunrise. A pretty steady climb, beautiful sights! Majority of folks are wearing their masks and being respectful. Great hike!
