Careful everyone! The Los Angeles Golds Gym Franchise which includes Glendale, Long Beach and Hollywood Gyms and others is predatory and should not be trusted. The franchise cheated me and many other loyal members out of their special lifetime memberships (My special membership was three years upfront then only $99/month). When I asked the Golds Hollywood sales lady, who originally sold me the special plan, why my plan was stopped, she lied through her teeth saying she knew nothing about my special membership. Also, I see the LA franchise is at it again--The current website lies saying that their prime membership includes full time use to all SoCal gyms--But, if you check carefully, Golds Venice is not included since it is not part of LAs franchise.

I joined Gold’s in Glendale 2 weeks ago. Tito spent the time I needed to sort through the membership plans and gave me the space to make a no pressure decision.I chose to do an initial meeting with a trainer, Tatiana and was so impressed that purchased a few sessions (totally unusual for me) after receiving multiple purchase options.Things haven’t been easy for all businesses, and Gold’s is no exception. There were times, for business reasons, Tatiana could not be present for personal training, Roman jumped in to help me and also did a magnificent job. What I’m saying is that the Gold’s staff worked together as a team (those I’ve meanti ones and others) to provide the services I have been seeking. Unfortunately, that team must also spend a significant amount of time cajoling a few members into quarantine compliance.A lot is happening with Covid, and those few who fight against the spread by not complying with mask wearing are a significant part of the reason the gyms have closed down again today.I can’t wait to get back to Gold’s. Overall, the staff is super friendly. The club itself is clean and each member may grab a bottle of disinfectant and a towel to keep her workout area clean. I love the layout and flow of the space and classrooms. After being a member of other Glendale area gyms, I cannot imagine why Gold’s has any negative reviews.
I went there just to give it a try see how it was and there was a staff told me if you wanna get in the gym you have to pay even for one day (reminder: I was referred by a friend and I could go there for 3 days for free but they made me pay for a day). Ok no problem Ill pay for one day. As i tried to use the machines and equipments, since it was over crowded, i was waiting for a while until I could use them. There was literally no empty equipments or machines. So I decided to not go back there because of that, but a month later, I got a call and they told me that you got charged for the month. (Remember I wasnt a member, I just went there to see how it was) since then ive been trying for months calling them and cancel the payments but no one responds and they keep charging me on my credit card every month and the gym is closed. the worst gym I ever gone to. 24 hour was much better.
Today was my most horrible experience. You offer a trial period of 21 days, its a lie. I made a visit today. The sales manager tried to talk to me and tried to make a deal for an hour. I asked the question: “Do I need to make a decision now? I have not tried your gym. how can i make a deal? Im not ready! ”A sweet smile disappeared from his face. He said: “Call me in the evening and I will give you a discount!” I did not get the trial period that you promise. Farewell! You are not worried about your customers, you need their wallets.
Golds Gym is practicing straight up extortion. I’ve been trying to cancel since COVID began and have reached out through phone, email and tried MANY times on their site and apps to cancel and they’ve made it literally impossible. After finally speaking with someone there today they said you have to cancel through a third party called ABC Financial. Of course I’ve had no luck there either. ABC Financial is a company designed your help gyms make it near impossible to have clients cancel.Working with my bank to reverse charges from Gold’s now.Never stepping foot in a Gold’s Gym again. It’s incredible these tactics aren’t illegal.
Very clean and modern gym for a good price. its usually pretty crowded (pre pandemic at least). Also theyre super pushy about signing up for personal training which can be annoying if youre someone whos happy with their own routines. If you want to cancel you need to call a separate company that will put you on hold for awhile which can be annoying. However, its in the Galleria and very close to both a pizza place and a protein shake place which can be great for a post workout meal.Very convenient location and good pricing with lots of solid, up-to-date equipment available. Customer service isnt great but also isnt terrible.
Guys, I need your help! What number should I call to cancel my membership or talk about a refund? I think someone will likely respond here than on email. Thanks!
The machines and cleanliness is good, but it’s the staff that force me to give it a low star rating. I would be minding my business, and a trainer would come along and “offer” and free session. The session pushed me too hard but he still wouldn’t stop. And when I explained that I couldn’t afford a trainer (my parents pay for my membership bc we all went when it first opened up), a second trainer came into the conversation and told me, well with as much as you go out and eat you could’ve save that money for a trainer. I never mentioned going out to eat or who paid for my meals when I go out, but it was obvious he was alluding to my weight. I’ve lost a significant amount before this happened, but when I said “oh I’m eating x amount of calories to lose weight” the og trainer straight up told me, no your not. Somehow these two men can make assumptions about my eating habits and my finical situation because I attend a gym on my own time. I enjoy the machines and the establishment is clean, I just find a few of the workers very rude, pushy, and ill-intended salesmen.
Worst customer service and every time it feels like the sales team is lying about deals and not telling you the full content of the deal. The equipment is newer compared to other gyms, the view is great by the windows while on the treadmill, also sauna and steam rooms are nice additions, however, very crowded throughout the whole day.
An employee tells me I have to wear a mask coming out of the gym when he is not wearing one himself and is on the front desk where everyone is walking in and out all day. If you want people to wear masks then lead by example. Not profesional at all.
If your time is valuable and you work, this crowded gym is not for you, because you have to be in line for most of the high demand equipment. At the beginning, it was really cool, but now, they just think about getting more members. It’s Super crowded with poor customer service. Something the warming up section is closed because they hold classes there. Most of the times the bars for chest press tables, shoulder, inclined, declined are not available because people take them to do squats on the ground. I already requested the staff to add extra bars, or to ban people to take them, but they didn’t care...However, the gym is new, clean and is not smelly
Don’t want to waste my time writing this review, but this gym is over I priced, over crowded, and the management have a rule where if you visit once under a friends membership, then your free week trial is void, and even if you visited with a friend yesterday. Despite telling me on the phone to show up and just show them my ID for a week trial, I arrived and they said my only choices were to buy a $20 day pass or a full membership on the spot. I left and found a better gym (Which I don’t wanna disclose so it doesn’t get over crowded ;)Happy lifting everyone, avoid Gold’s
I like golds gym its a great starter gym for people who just want to stay fit or become physically active. I don’t agree with their cancelation policy to wait 30 days before your membership cancels and you have to tell them prior those 30 days also you have to wait a year for your contract to end so you don’t get charged a fee. Besides that the gym is actually in decent shape. Its jot as big as lifetime, but has all the essentials. The customer service is great, the gym employees are kind, the cleaning staff does a great job. As for the people who come and go its mostly high schoolers or college students that want to show off or train for a sport. The treadmill area has a great view of the city of glendale.
Would not recommend. The gym itself is nice but the fact that you have hidden fees not told to you makes this place a fraud. When I told them about how I didn’t know about the fees I was told that my initial were next to the agreement during the signing the guy told me we’re to sign to make it faster not telling me what I was getting into. Imagine sitting there and reading word by word the signing agreement. On top of all they’re asking $200 to cancel the membership.
My experience has been great.Friendly front desk and clean gym.I always go between 5 am and 8 am so I don’t know how the cleanliness is at later times, however, it’s clean and not too busy at those times. The equipments are top notch! They have good punching bags as well, which is a huge plus for me.And the people that train there are cool, too. No wannabe’s who drop weights, or don’t re-rack them...Overall a great gym!
No notifications on the non refund policy. It took me calling three times three different days and an (unanswered) email from Tony to finally be told they wouldn’t be giving me my refund, as they were just told they weren’t allowed to give refunds.
Nice facility, neat equipment. It does get really crowded though. My initial fitness evaluation test was followed by this head-trainer guy trying to sell me trainer sessions. He kept negotiating the price, I kept saying no not right now for personal reasons, and the conversation became pushier and rather condescending, to the point where he insulted me. :)
This is where my son goes to workout and he wanted a hoody for his birthday so I stopped in during my run to the mall. This was my first time in a gym in a number of years (unfortunately), and I was impressed with the facility. It was large and modern and unbelievable clean! The gym I used to go to paled in comparison to this Gold’s location. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a gym. The staff was friendly too!
The worst Golds gym ever ! Their front desk people are rude and clueless what they are doing, dont care about their customers at all and unfortunately so does the management ... Had a conversation with the manager Ben and he kinda got mad that I wasnt happy with their service lol No wonder why you guys are the worst ... Save yourself from the worst gym experience you can get, dont be fooled by the new equipment . The gym is usually super packed and they oversold the membership (probably thats why they dont care ), always lines to workout and not gonna lie, people who go to this specific location are nothing but weird. Doesnt even feel comfortable to workout, because a lot of them clearly are here not to workout but to stare, play in the phone etc . My advise ? - Stay away as far as you can !!!!
The gym is nice and clean however I think that they should have an employee stationed by the locker room. I find it very annoying when women enters the steam room with sweaty and in their workout clothes and sneakers. When it cleary states the rule before you enter the steam room. I think that is why the steam room smells like mildew at times. Other than that their staff a friendly. The hydro massage are not working half of the time. Oh the towels are way too short or not long enough to your body and i am not even heavy.
Customer service is the WORST!! I do not recommend joining this gym at all! The machines are fine and clean but the customer service is the absolute worst ever! They were supposed to open in January and ended up doing it in April. They told me my membership had features that didnt end up having. Took them 4 months to process a downgrade and they refused to refund me for the money I paid while they were processing. My husband went to transfer his membership to a friend and we still got billed for it and they wanted to not refund me for that either, they told me to get the money back from my friend (really?), they ended up giving me the money back but after almost a month. And if that wasn’t enough, just last week and friend and I were working out in the squats machine, and this personal trainer (Alejandra) comes with her client and starts taking out the weights to use the machine (keep in mind, my water bottle was below the machine, my towel was hanging in the bar and my friend was about to use it); so I interrupted her and told her that I was using the machine and she tells me “you can use it after we’re done” and I assumed that she meant we could all use it, like each of us would be doing a set taking turns on it. Well, that’s not what she meant, because she decided to stay there to use and teach her client for at least 20min… I didn’t know that with a personal trainer session comes a preference right to use the machines over the other customers of the gym… She didn’t even apologized or anything. So in short, I’m sure there are gyms with way better customer service than this place. And as for the machines and facilities, they’re clean but not very well maintained but that’s on the customers.
Poor customer service, called to make a payment refund request and extension to freeze my account because of the obvious (Global Pandemic). Request for a refund not granted because the front desk personell said I have to make a request 10 days prior. Thanks. I cancelled the membership instead.
While covid19 still going and after 3 months they open they charge me for maintenance fee in fact the gym where close for 3months, and they deducted $49.99 maintenance fee without notification. Are they pathetically disparate getting money from us? And looking forward to go to another gym soon!
Worst gym ever. Worst customer service. Canceled the membership 8 months ago and followed up 10 times and they are still charging my bank account.Always crowded.
I went yesterday at first had an issue but then I got helped by the manager he was super friendly and helpful also got a super offer from him. He treated me so good I felt relieved. Super recommend. The place is super clean nice and advanced in technology.
Amazing gymbrand new facilityWith the newest equipmentI go here about twice a week and love the staffThey are very friendly and accommodatingI recommend this gym to all my friends and family
Months after been opened still first class place to go for exercise. What it is a combination of you and the super nice equipment. Keep on going strong thank you..
It looks like a cheap new gym but it’s too good to be true. There are many hidden fees that they don’t tell you at the beginning.I just supposed to pay $24.95 per month and $20 for initiation fee. But after three month, they charged $49 annul fee. When I wanted to cancel the membership, they charged me another $20 cancellation fee! After all, this gym is supper crowded and you have to be in line for everything. If your time is valuable, this gym is not a good choice.
I come to this gym on the daily and I’m going to put my honest opinion. Great gym, great staff but Jesus everyone needs to learn how to re-rack and the staff needs to be on top of people, I really recommend you guys sell some deodorant at the front cus people smell horrible, get on it!!!!! But overall good gym!!
Good place.. My kid is njoying ur kids place
Free parking; convenient location. Its much larger, newer and spacious than most Golds. It even has a room with hydro chairs! But I wasnt impressed. Staff were clueless and managers seem cocky. Theyll give you false advice that leads you astray. The goods in their shop are over-priced, no longevity. I wouldnt pay good money to be member here.UPDATE: Corporate generously and successfully helped me resolve this dispute.
Join at own risk. I was called by a gold’s salesman who tricked me into coming in by offering me a 10 day free trial. Then the general manager Tony Johnson pressured me into buying an all exclusive membership to other clubs in LA area that was falsely advertised by his sales representative. When I explain to them that the membership was invalid days later they explain that the other options was to wait until they can resolve the issue to only find out my only options were to upgrade or cancel. When I cancel I was still charged my initial feee and never refunded. There is no customer service number. I emailed Golds support on Nov 14th and it’s November 10 and still no reply nor a refund, yet they still continue calling my phone trying to sell me other membership plan and to give me another trial. This is outrageous and ridicules.By far worst sales experience. They definitely need to train employees on packages that are available and quit false advertising and schemeball sales techniques.
Good gym! Crowded during busy hours but that is expected. During light hours, awesome experience. Great equipment. However, some is already breaking down, but gym seems to tend to this quickly. Staff is helpful and friendly. I had issues with extra charges and they cleared it up quickly. Gym is clean, but you do have to pay $49 yearly fee for this. Seems worth it. I dont mind this fee as monthly rate was very affordable. On occasion some of members are annoying, but you find that in every gym. Diverse mix of people. For most part, I have had good experience in gym.
Poor customer service. I called and they gave me incorrect information over the phone, and when I went there in person to get accurate info, I also asked why the information given to me wasnt correct. A lady working there, which will not be named, stated everyone was professionaly trained, when it seemed like the lady was just hearing the amenities and rules for the first time from another coworker when the other coworker was stating the amenities I would receive when joining the gym, and explaining the cancellation fee. If everyone there is professionally trained, you would know whether or not you were giving me correct information, and not speak in a disrespectful tone to your customers.
I cancelled my membership with 24 hour fitness after being sold on a too good to be true membership, which later found out were total lies. Additional fees were not disclosed, use of other facilities was not fully explained.... how do I get out of this contract?!
Whatever discounts and promotion they advertise it never works. They told me if I refer 2 of my friends I will get free membership for 1 year. I am waiting almost 2 months for them to approve it. The front desk sending tickets to their head office already 5 times and no answer. Besides by gaining points i was offered to have 2 x 30mins session with trainer, I approached to a trainer he pulled me to another trainer. This trainer talked to me 20mins sitting in front of the desk and only 10 mins showed me some common exercises. This place sucks !!!
I used to be other gym member but I switched. In first 3-4 months I was unhappy because of contract and they charge me around $60 for annual fee( I have family account). I wasn’t told about that fee and I was disappointed. I went to the gym and tried to canceled my membership but couldn’t. I have signed up contract. Anyway.. Now, I am happy that I am Gold’s Gym member, I am there 3-4 something 5 times a week, yes it is very busy place, I wish they would have more equipment in the training area. It is a clean place, where I can train my self, if you bring 2 friends you can get 1 year free membership if 3 -3 year free . Now I bring 2 and 3 friend on the way:):). In 2-3 will see will I get free year or not.))) I love Golds Gym. Very very kind and friendly front desk. Thanks guy!!
BE AWARE. Very disappointing customer service, and I am not talking about fake Hii Welcome when you walk in, but when you really need someone from the staff ACT and DO something. They just either ignore your requests or play games to avoid doing it.Signed up with personal training sessions with minimum 2 months and when due to health issues needed to cancel it, I couldnt get rid of that for about a month!! You call - they say you need to send an email, you send an email - no response, you call they say you got to come in person - you go there, apparently only ONE person (Freddie) can do it and he is never there. After that experience NEVER GOING TO GO BACK TO GOLDS GYM GLENDALE.
I joined Golds Gym because1) it’s more of a high-end gym, and one of the cleaner gyms.2) I give it a 2 because it has no pool. Only a few of their gyms have pools. I decided this: If they can’t have a pool, then don’t have a gym there. It just takes away the appeal. Some lower end gyms have pools! It’d be great if they left the Glendale mall (because the city won’t allow a pool there, but the W. Covina mall’s Gold’s gym does have a pool) and went somewhere outside the mall where they CAN have a pool.3) Anytime I go, the machines are always taken and I end-up pacing around waiting.4) Only high sugar junk food protein bars are sold there as food.
Honestly their customer service is amazing! As soon as you step in they really make YOU feel welcome! They remember you so they dont give you a generic Hello. The staff will do everything on their power to accommodate you, they take care of every single reasonable request! The manager Ben as well as the staff at the entrance and the daycare are very nice and friendly. The cycling class and zumba with Pablo is awesome, those classes are a must! The machines are great! The only thing I regret is that they dont have a sauna nor jacuzzi...
Stop harassing people for money, if you had something valuable to offer people would pay you for it, this is clearly a scam since you have to force people to pay. Im going to report you to BBB. Already filed a claim with my bank as it is.
Customer service is really bad, and the trainers are not good. I do not recommend anyone coming here if you really want to experience a great gym environment this gym is not the one to go to. On top of that, most gym members steal from you if you dont watch your stuff, which I feel is the most low class thing members do in this gym. On top of all that, I even had a trainer by the name of Isaiah knoll, come up to me in a threatening confrontational manner and claim that I bumped into him, I went with the manager and told him what he did. That was basically the last straw for me and I left golds gym Glendale for good. I highly do not recommend this gym.
All the staff have attitude, is it mandatory to have attitude to get job in gold gym Glendale!
This place has worst customer service in the whole world. Me and my wife are members of Golds Gym (international) for almost 10 years. And always had wonderful experience. Lately we switched to Glendale Galleria location. It is very crowded, it is almost impossible to stick to your training program because you have no chance finding free machine/weight the moment you need. But thats another story. We subscribed for a personal trainer for my wife. This damn service costs $600/mo for 2 times a week sessions. After 2 months we needed to cancel it because of medical condition. And the nightmare started!!!Weve been chasing employees who could cancel our subscription for more than 1 month. Front desk is rude and not aware about whats going on, whos in today and whos not. You cant do anything via phone. They kept telling us to stop by. And we did several times. Responsible person for cancellation is never there (never responds to emails, at break, lunch, sick, too early, too late, no-one-knows...). Meanwhile they charged our card one more time. After going back and forth for a month we were able to speak to general manager. Who assured us that he will cancel our subscription if we bring doctors letter. We did day. He went unresponsive. No answers to emails, phone calls whatsoever. After trying to reach him on his personal cell he finally responded with one word confirmed which supposed to mean our subscription cancellation is confirmed. That was 10 days ago.Yesterday we were charged one more time.Whos going to be responsible for this after all?
It’s an alright gym, but night goers, we don’t appreciate for gym staff to turn off the steam room or the sauna before they close, it was 11:15pm and neither of them were working, they constantly do that even tho night goers pay the same as day goers. Put a sign saying so, and advertise it the proper way if this cause a detriment to your employees or the gym property because they both are advertised as amenities, not partial amenities. We tend to complain all the time, we talk about it at the steam room but seems like the staff is unresponsive.Thank you golds team.
If you have any ounce of self-respect you will avoid this place at all costs. If I was given the choice to pay them an extra penny or gain 50 pounds, I would choose there latter -- here is my experience:I have been a member of this pathetic establishment since last April. A bald, tall worker had helped me sign up. The place was already open when I went in to get my membership and my dad, mom, and sister were already members. So this worker sat me down and began to blatantly lie to me about the gyms amenities. He literally told me they have a pool and sauna that I wont have access to unless I pay for a premium membership. Note that the gym wasnt in construction anymore, he was just lying to me about imaginary amenities. Maybe he was intoxicated and was hallucinating when telling me these complete lies. This probably affected his ability to determine that I was a woman and women DONT have a sauna in their locker room. However, I highly doubt that he didnt notice this since he patronized and belittled me throughout the entire process. Of course he did not tell me of the hidden fees and was deceiving, but that happens to all their members so I dont feel too special because of that. After facing the first sexist worker, I came to the gym a day later and was greeted by my next opponent: the personal trainer. I did not ask for this and literally just wanted to work out, BY MYSELF. He kept pushing me to walk through the gym with him, even though I said Im not interested probably five times. I had to tell him Im having stomach cramps and have to go home so he would leave me alone. He literally made me leave the gym for the day because of how pushy and uncomfortable he made me. I dont remember the name of this moron but if you see a worker with hair that looks like horse p***** then thats the one.The gym itself has been overcrowded and disgusting. Theres always smelly guys yelling around the gym and making everyone uncomfortable. Theres always that one guy destroying the punching bag and yelling at it like it just called his mom fat. My friends and I always avoid passing by these sociopaths because they might start punching us at this point. The workers there are too busy flexing their greasy slickbacks around the gym and acting like their dad is Joe Gold himself.A year and a month later, I decide Ive had enough of this sad excuse for a gym and go to cancel. The manager tells me I needed to give a 30 day notice to cancel and it says so in the contract so I would be billed for June, even though I wont be using the facility. I let that slide. Then she has the audacity to tell me that I have to pay for July too, since I was one day late on cancellation. So I have to pay $60 for two months that I will not be using the gym. She acted like she had no control over the billing and there was a gun to her head telling her to take the money out of my bank account. She did not even *try* to be helpful. She just stood there waiting for me to leave and threatened me with debt collectors that will ruin my credit if I dont pay. I would give that $60 dollars wrapped in a ribbon and patted her on the head if she tried to help me before shutting me down. However, she didnt. Here are the steps that will be taken because of their blatant disregard to a member that has paid them for their services for over a year.1. My family and relatives will be cancelling their memberships, costing them an indefinite minimum of $1,500 annually.2. My boyfriend and his five friends will be cancelling theirs because they like LA Fitness much more anyway, thats an indefinite minimum of $2,400 annually.3. My twelve friends will be cancelling their memberships as well, totaling to an indefinite minimum of $3,600 annually. Each time they cancel their membership Ill make sure to tell them to put their reason as this review. Furthermore, Im sure this review will assist others in being swayed in the right direction which is anywhere but this s*** hole. I hope the price of (minimum) $7,500 was worth the salvation. All this for $60.00.Shame
Zero customer service, they just lie you easily.Should stay on the line for vevry single machin at least 15 min most of the time.Changed facilities that you should pay for them afterward!!!
UPDATE:After I posted this review, I was contacted by Golds Gym and Bianca was able to remedy my situation very quickly and professionally. While I do wish that Golds Gym Glendale had this kind of excellent customer service throughout the whole process, I am at least happy to see that there are great customer service representatives who are ready to fix problems. The facilities are fine, even above average perhaps. The parking situation is a little difficult, but usually manageable. My big problem with this gym is the staff and their policies. The process of getting a membership is like buying a used car. I had to haggle with my salesperson to get an even close to reasonable rate and he did the stereotypical let me ask my manager shtick. It is not simple and straightforward like it should be. I was also promised certain things like towel service by my salesperson, but the gym has recently begun to crack down on giving out towels to members who havent purchased the ridiculous up charge for towel service. I also purchased an E-Gym membership, which was fine. The trainer who showed me E-Gym, however, also promised to have monthly or even biweekly workouts with me and to keep in touch with me about my personal fitness. I was very pleased and I signed up for a 3 month E-Gym membership. Within a few weeks, that trainer had left the company and I wasnt put in touch with another trainer. I eventually decided to cancel E-Gym, which I had to jump through several ridiculous hoops to do. And just today I received an email telling me that there is a 30-day cancellation notice, which basically means that even though I want to cancel this month, I have to pay a whole extra month for no reason. Additionally, the staff as a whole are just not very friendly and make you feel like you are wasting their time by asking them for things. Not all are bad, some are nice, but far worse overall staff moral in my experience than at a typical fast food restaurant, which is a pretty low bar. The point is, this gym does not treat its members with respect and is trying to squeeze its members for every dollar it can before they ultimately decided to find a better gym, which I definitely will be doing once my year long contract is over. I am very, very disappointed and I would highly recommend working out somewhere else.
Cleanest golds Ive been to. Does get crowded but people are actually working out here. Excellent customer service, front desk staff is friendly & very helpful. Best Golds Ive been to so far.
Golds Gym in Glendale has been treating me very well since I made the switch from being a 7-year 24hr Fitness member! My only con (which is uncontrollable) is the shear amount of people who workout here! I can’t really follow a set workout plan since the equipment order I need to go in, usually always has people using them.Another bummer is that I enrolled in the 2 for 1 membership special, but ended up only needing a membership for myself. I wish I could switch to a single membership and add the Golds Burn & Fit classes for the same price as what I’m paying now, but I would still need to pay the $200 cancellation fee /:
This is the worst gym i have ever been too. Just to start off, when you are signing up no one ever tells you all the hidden fees that this place has. You cannot cancel your membership within the first year, then the funniest part is that when you cancel you have to give a 30 day notice and if your billing day is within those 30 days then you will be charged for another month. SO basically when you cancel you still pay twice. The staff are the worst, there is absolutely no costumer service, for some unknown reason the staff working there think they are GODS that they are better than anyone going to that gym.Third and the most insane problem with this gym is that there is a whole group of about 5-10 guys that every night go and do some very weird boxing rituals, when i say rituals i mean rituals. They dress up in some weird old japanese uniforms and start meditating and then punching bags very very loud screaming their lungs off. This makes everyone at the gym uncomfortable. Its like a gang in the middle of the gym that you cant cross because they will attack you for no reason.Whatever you do, do not sign up at this gym, just down the street there are other gyms that are much better and the same price without these underlying problems.
Awesome gym. Girl at the front... Kind of cold.
It is a nice place, yet the customer service isn’t. One of their worker messed up my cancellation, and I got charged for the month after. The manager wasn’t on site to attend my issue. One of the far worst customer services. It is easy to get in, not easy to get out.
Very good gymUpdate: 6/30/2019I have the premium membership so I just started to go to two of their classes the Golds Burn and the Le Mills Tone class. They both were fun! The Golds Burn class is more my style but the Tone was enjoyable as well (even when I got lost a bit). Both courses are good for all levels of fitness and the Tone class gives you variations depending on ability. The Burn class you can go at your own pace. Going to keep going to the classes. Both of the instructors I had were really good!Ive been to other gyms before and this is a nice one. Between the classes, the egym equipment and the hydro massage beds dont get what folks are complaining about. Yea theres annoying things here and there but Its a gym and lots of people are in and out all day everyday . Thats everywhere. Parking is fine (free cuz its the mall). The staff are friendly. As far as there being a couple ruder folks, oh well, as long as theyre not keeping you from using the machines who really cares? Thats basically everywhere too. Including your own job :D .Overall this is a great gym. Think people just dont know how to be satisfied.
Super place, nice, clean, large spaces, all modern and new.
THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! Be aware of what they get you into. I was a member for a whole year, for some personal matters I didnt use the facility for an entire year, but because I had signed a contract I was fine paying my monthly membership fees. Then one day I visited the gym, in my gym clothes, wanting to workout. I asked the front desk to check to check and see if my membership was still valid. They told me it was expired on April 2nd and SENT ME BACK!!!! I was TOTALLY fine with it, so I left. Then I see yet another charge on May 2nd!!! I went there the day after I saw the charge, explained the whole situation and I asked them for a refund. They not only charged me for the entire month of April AND May, but they are charging me until the end of June!!! This was the worst experience I had with their obviously not-well-trained staff and the customer service and especially with the Customer Service Manager!! After emailing back and forth and calling them so many times they finally responded. Golds Gym sucks!!!
Looking for a gym. Came to this place just to have a walk around and check it out. They don’t allow anyone in, unless you sign a “waiver” where you would mandatorily enter your email.I just wanted to check out the equipment, and not be bombarded by tons of promotional emails a day. You need to change your policy.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! Such a dishonest company. Once you give them your bank account number, they keep charging you over and over again. There are a lot of hidden fees they never tell you about. Customer service is not about yelling Hi and welcome, or have a good day, which is so annoying. JUST DO NOT CHEAT PEOPLE!!! They try to get you with their low monthly fees, but trust me, youll be so disappointed later.
The best gym I’ve ever been to. Very clean and organized. Professional and friendly staff.
Been a member of Golds Gym Glendale since April and I really enjoy it! Ive taken several group exercise classes and all of the instructors have been knowledgeable, fun, and given a great workout. The facilities are brand new so everything is clean and well maintained. I would recommend becoming a member here!
This is the worst gym Ive ever experienced, and Ive had quite a few different gym memberships in different cities over the last few years. The facility itself is clean and new, but my problem is with the employees and sales tactics.I came in yesterday around 4:30 PM to get a 7 day pass, since Im trying out a few different gyms in the area to work out close to my office. When I came in, I was asked to sign in and provide information on a tablet, and after that a sales consultant would come activate my 7 day pass. Translation, get ready for the sales pitch. I had a feeling that was coming and know that its part of the routine, but this was the most uncomfortable and pushy experience Ive ever had.The sales person first sits me down at his desk to start asking me questions like what am I looking in a gym, what exercises do I like, when was the last time I worked out, what gym was I at before, why did I leave, what did I like about it, and the list went on and on. After the 10 minute question session, he said I then had to take a tour of the facility. At this point I asked him if this was really necessary, and he said yes, because its procedure.I sat through this tour for the next 15 minutes, where he pointed out what a stairmaster is, and what leg machines are and what bathrooms are. Completely unnecessary, but I was friendly and went along with it. When we finished the tour, I once again had to go back to his desk. I had even mentioned I was on a time crunch, and he said this wouldnt be long. Then he pulls out a book and flips through every page, telling me what Golds Gym mission is, where all there locations are, and a ton of other unnecessary pieces of information. Then he gets to a page on the Four Pillars of Fitness and asks me what my diet is like. I have seen nutritionists before and know what Im doing, but he proceeds to tell me Im being unhealthy and should be eating more often and incorporating x y and z into my diet. No offense, but you really shouldnt be advising people to eat certain ways when you dont know anything about their bodies or health background. He finally gets to a page on the pricing and asks which plan Id be interested in, and I told him the basic would be enough but I am not here to purchase anything, and I havent even had a chance to try out the gym. Its already 5 o clock at this point and Ive been there for 30 minutes. He then asks me what he can do to make me purchase today. I once again repeated that I didnt want to buy anything today, and I just wanted to test out the gym and weigh my options on my own. Then he asks me to wait because he needs to talk to his manager. I should have just ran away at this point. After going into his managers office for 5 minutes, he comes back out with the manager and the manager proceeds with the same pitch. At this point, I was really frustrated and said I understand youre just doing your job but Ive already said I dont want to purchase today. I have to leave at 5:30 and I havent even had a chance to try out the gym. The manager condescendingly said Youre not interested in these incentives you can ONLY get today? to which I said No, I have no problem with your pricing, and If Im interested, I will purchase the basic plan as is. I JUST want to try this gym out. I really couldnt believe I had been sitting there for 45 minutes after I had already said I didnt have time for this today - I felt like a hostage! He grudgingly handed me a 7 day pass and rudely said Fine, but just know that if you decide to buy you wont get to negotiate.I worked out for 15 minutes and then left because I had to go home. I spent a few years in sales, and you people need to learn how to READ YOUR AUDIENCE. If Im telling you I just want to work out and dont want to make a decision today and I have other commitments to go home to, you need to listen. Respect your customers. Youre losing prospects, I guarantee it. I will not be proceeding with the remainder of my 7 day trial and definitely wont be purchasing a membership.
In my experience, this is the worst client service I have ever had. They were really inexperienced and unhelpful at canceling the membership. I went to talk to the manager and he did not show up. Later I found out that they had a 30-day notice otherwise you will be charged for another month plus the membership fee. Their gym policy is too complicated and way too expensive. There are other gyms in Glendale with better amenities. Check them out and stay away from the Golds Gym.
This company is a rip off, with lots of hidden fees. There are many problems with the service they provide. The have a long list of agreement to and they will charge you if you cancel early. They charge us for $120 dollars for early cancellation.
Great facility and equipment. Been a Golds Gym member downtown since 2006. was a bit skeptic about this gym at first but once I was done with my workout I was satisfied overall. Love that fact you guys added the synthetic grass, really helpful when doing my Metabolic circuit workouts. P.S. Send the jumping rope and yoga people inside the yoga room because they just blocking the way and slowing down speed workouts lmao keep it up!
Don’t sing up for membership here, if you plan to cancel in some time in the future . They will scam you and steal your money. Many hidden fees that they don’t tell you.&i t’s so packed in here, good luck trying to get a machine. They oversold the membership.
Terrible gym. Worst employees
The new golds gym here at the Glendale galleria is spectacular. I had Carlos assist me with the whole process of signing up and he was awesome. He brought my monthly fee to an affordable and reasonable price. Make sure you guys come down to see him for the best deal.
Do not get tricked by the cheap monthly fee. There are so many other fees that when divided by 12 the monthly fee is higher than any other gym in the area. What no one tells you is that you sign a contract where you HAVE to stay for a year and you cant cancel it, and when you do eventually decide to cancel it after a year, you have to pay for another 2 months since you have to give them a 30 day notice (for some unexplainable reason, its like you are their employee and you have to give them a notice thar youre leaving so they can find someone else to trap for a year of payment), so the next billing date falls within those 30 days and you get charged twice AFTER you cancel. Whatever you do, DO NOT sign up at this gym, it is a big scam and every worker there lies and manipulates you into paying more.
Horrible customer service. My husband and I wanted to discuss membership with someone, but no one ever came. They just pushed a tablet our direction, wanting all our contact information, but never had anyone help us out. We left, vowing not to return. This place is too busy and apparently, understaffed for a positive experience.
WARNING: if you are considering this gym, go look at their BBB rating- an F!I signed up for this gym before they even opened. It was a nightmare. They kept pushing the opening date further and further out and when I finally went to register, the sales guy Terrell helping me was a complete Chad bro creep that kept trying to get my number. Newsflash: that kind of douchebag behavior went out in 2008.To be true to their sexist antics, the women’s room doesn’t have a sauna but the men’s room does. Come on, it’s nearly 2019?The gym layout itself was too open and didnt have a decent warm up area (the class room was locked but would’ve worked well for my yoga and contortion warm ups).I constantly felt like the fake staff was breathing down my neck to try to upsell me on unnecessary BS. Parking is an absolute nightmare. Whoever thought putting a gym in one of the busiest cities in the Valley was a good idea should really be fired. This Gold’s is nothing like the one I knew and loved back in the day in Scottsdale. You can tell it is franchised by a scam artist with the credentials to work for Donald Trump. Absolute disgusting.
I have only been able to go tot the gym a couple of times since I joined because work travel, but I enjoy Gold’s very much. Even though its only a few dollars more a month, it is superior to LA Fitness. You are giving me a more luxury experience at a fraction of the cost.A shout out to the amazing sales person I had, Raimond. He was fantastic!
I did a walk-in of the gym yesterday and I had to sign a waiver for it (I didnt mind because I wanted to see the inside of the gym). Coming in, I was 90% sure I was moving to this gym from LA Fitness because of their amenities. I was greeted by one of the consultants (I guess) and he guided me through the tour.He walked me in a full circle and then we sat back to the consultants desk. I then realized that he wasnt able to show me the mens bathroom but then I decided to take the sales talk anyway. So I took the talk, and I was sure I wasnt signing that day because I dont want to make any rash decisions. My consultant was pushy (which again, I understand because its a sales talk) and mentioned Golds Gym employees are all about the wellness and being of their members and want members to produce maximum results and that theyre not all about the sales. Funny, because during that talk, I can sense that he was all about the sales and that he did not really care about me (this part is subjective, but this is a review). So anyway, I was firm and told him that I am not signing today because I really just wanted to see the gym and make a decision after a few days. Finally, he probably became frustrated and just gave up.When we finally finished the talk, I asked him if I could see the bathroom, and he said no, gym members only. I told myself, okay. You just lost a sale. I then called the Glendale gym today and asked them if the tours also showed the mens bathroom inside and the lady said yes.So, to the consultant who denied me access to the mens bathroom just because I said I wasnt signing today, looks like its only allowed when making a sale. I wont name the consultant but it was not a professional thing to do. If you really were all about helping your members, you couldve helped me decide more by showing me the bathroom. That was my number one concern after all with gym utilities. Im staying with LA Fitness because of the horrible customer service experience Golds Gym has provided.edit: Also, the waiver you sign at the beginning will opt you to receive postmails from them even though it clearly states that they dont use that information for marketing. Liars. I started getting mails after my visit.
People take the bars to do squats and leave the bench press useless, and there is no rules on the gym. You have to be in line for almost everything. Most of the staff are nice, except one in the front desk. She seems hate her job ...
Pros: Very good quality gym, I use the free weights most of the time and all the equipment is perfect. Ive used some machines and those are top quality as well.Cons: I kinda dont like the bar for dead lifts, I have a grip issue with them, but that could just be a personal problem of mine. Also, at times the gym gets awfully crowded due to people who go to the gym after work/school, but that is to be expected.
Horrible experience signing up with Gods Gym. The name doesnt represent the company at all. I dont recommend this to anyone.
The staff does not explain all the fees that come with the membership. I got charged 49 dollars for an annual fee, but I was not informed about this three months ago when I initially signed up. Normally other companies inform their customers about all the important things instead of rushing through everything. When I informed the staff about getting charged 49 dollars out of nowhere, all I got was a simple sorry. If I knew about all of these charges in the beginning, I would’ve signed up with another gym in Glendale.
I was also told January when I signed up in October. I joined because I needed childcare to even go to the gym. That is why I joined. I have been going to the Hollywood one. Its fine, but no childcare and the classes start there at 6:30am, so I am hoping the Glendale location will offer some 5:30am spin classes or other stuff. Like the other reviewers, I have had ZERO communication on the date of the gym opening. Could be great. I am giving 1 star because communication on their end has been very poor. If you can deliver on a promise at least communicate about it
I go to this gym every day sometimes twice a day and the staff is super nice and awesome and the facility is always clean considering how busy this place is. I wish they would open till midnight on weekends too! Highly recommended!!
Great gym to work out in. Super friendly staff. Some of the weights have been all over the place and some of the bench press benches have been rather misaligned, but its understandable with a lot of the members just tossing the weights around. Still someone is going around trying to fix things.
Place is clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A very friendly vibe.
I wish I could give them a zero for their customer service!!!Edit:After I gave up on costumer service, and talked to the manager, he suggested that I can complain and ask for a refund. However, he said it will definitely be denied since the replies are not coming from a human being. So, I did not complain but I told him that I am going to leave a bad review online. Surprisingly he did not care at all even though supposedly they should at least care about the business if they do not care about the customer.Right after I left the one star review, I received the reply from the owner. I was so pleased that at least there is one person who cares about the customers in this business. He asked me to email Ben Anzaldo, so I emailed and HE/SHE replied in less than 2 minutes. IT asked me to provide my phone number so that they would contact me, but I refused to give them my phone number since I prefer email rather than phone call. That was our only communication; IT did not reply to my email anymore, and I just gave up on them! Conclusion: The online customer service as I was told by the manager, was a default message coming from a machine. Customer service does not exist in this business!Lets hope that I (as well as other customers) would never need to contact customer service.
Took months to open and now that it is, 2 of the hydro massage machines were broken, 4/9 showers in the mens locker room were out of order (its only 2 weeks since they opened), the class schedule I was given at the gym was inaccurate (4/16 9:30pm Yoga with Kitty) and some of the staff were difficult to talk to. I really want this gym to improve. Im looking forward to things getting better.EDIT 8/10/2018:Thank you for the response. Everything is in fact fixed and working. After working out here regularly for a few months this is what Ive noticed:There are circuit machines in the center of the gym for a 30 min complete body workout but no one adheres to the timer, and Ive asked staff to help enforce but no one has. The machines are supposed to be numbered, which they are not. This can be very frustrating and I would have hoped that staff would help/teach others how to use the circuit system or number the machines. Also, I paid for the premium membership, which includes towel use/classes etc, but no one enforces this either (no one checks in/ anyone can walk into classes), which can (not always) lead to very full classes. This also makes me feel foolish for paying extra for perks that anyone can use.If things like this do no bother you, and you dont mind people holding on to machines/dropping weights/small other courtesy issues, this gym is great for a good workout.
Its easy to sign up but for membership cancellationthey give you very hard time. Worst manager crew especially Ben Anzaldo and worst front desk especially Ani
Good value, very clean and new facility. Staff and patrons friendly and helpful
Love this gym great new Equipment
Little bit crowded but its the best gym
This is a great gym, especially since it is brand new. All the equipment is top notch. The classes are good. Not too busy.
Reason why I put 5 stars here, is that this gym is close by and operates during weekends, and ofc, the punching bags there are of badass quality, etc :)
Super nice. Every thing is new and shiny. The staff was very friendly and not intimidating. Email me for VIP month pass since I am a member prdons44@gmail.
I’ve never gone to any other Gold’s gyms, but the one in Glendale is the worst gym you can go to....Before sighing up I asked the guy if it’s a contract and he said no,I can cancel it whenever I want,so I gave it a shot, but after 1 week of working out there I was so disappointed, the gym is in the mall so good luck with finding a parking space, before sighing up they told me that they going to have swimming pool and finally no matter what time of the day it is, it’s always crowded and if you want to do a bunch press there’s a line of people waiting for it,like a freaking roller coaster at Six Flags. Finally,I called to cancel my membership because I wasn’t satisfied, the girl with who I talked to said that I have to come in to do it, I told her that I’m not going to be in the country for a while, and then she told me that I can’t cancel it because it’s a contract and if after all I want to cancel it there’s a fee 200$, I tried to tel her that the guy who sold me the membership didn’t tell me that it was contract quite opposite he told me that I can cancel it when ever I want to, but she doesn’t seem to care much, even after I told her, that it was a guy and his name is Harvey she said “-oh, he doesn’t work here anymore” then I wanted to speak with a manager and guess what she said that the manager isn’t there and he’ll call me back. It’s been 2,5 months and I’m waiting for there maneger to call me.Conclusion: The new equipment is nice, but parking, lines for each machine and the costumer service is the worst.Even though I still have my gold’s gym membership,I go to 24 hour fitness as used to do.
Since i pay to do workout so i care about the machines and the equipment to be in a working condition, if a machine breaks it takes them forever to fix it, for example leg extension its been more that 5 weeks thats out of order and whoever you complain to they say the part is on the way i dont know the part is coming from Mars ? But if your payment gets delayed for a day you will be notified quickly. So the gym owner cares about the payment and having more members not the equipment.
New Gold’s Gym in Glendale Galleria is Great! I got good service and the workers instructed me through every process. All questions I asked were answered with no hesitation by Carlos (:
Poorest service i ever had.. all the staffs at the front desk clerk was super rude and mean.. the persons who answers the call the lady is the worst phone call receiver i ever encounter.
I walked in to the Glendale golds gym today hoping to only look around and was automatically attended with friendly staff. My friend and I were attended by Raimond and Paul which took the time to explain the benefits of signing up to the gym and showed a sincere interest in my goals. I truly recommend for anyone to come and sign up it is a really beautiful gym I ended up signing up today and look forward to my work outs here
Live work and work harder- my golds motto
They have so many hidden costs that they dont disclose at the time of signing you upI got ripped off..watch your back
