Its a fun and awesome experience but really wished they enforced masks on while inside the building. About 75% of the people inside were not wearing a mask. I understand that it gets hot or people run out of breath after skating for a while but its not an excuse to not wear a mask.
Just started getting back into skating the beginning of this year and this is my home away from home️ Staff is super nice and helpful. I literally used to take a Lyft every Thursday but then I got a car and I’m up there like all the time. Catch me Westlake how bout dat
Its a nice, laid-back type of skating rink. Great food, snacks and drinks. Recommend for parties, occasions, or just a place to hang with friends
The kids had fun but they are under-staffed. Waited awhile to get skates and even longer to return them and get their shoes back- no one was even at the skate rental counter he was busy speaking with the gentleman in the box playing the music. Poor gal at the concession stand was extremely busy and didnt have any help!!!
I was alot of fun for a great price. If I would have to give some constructive criticism.... The music definitely could be better.
I took my kids here when they were little now 30 years later am bringing my grand daughter it is still a great place for a family to come and just have good safe fun.
The 3 dollar Thursday is great, but they dont have fisher price skates for toddlers and not all toddlers know how to use regular skates and I wasnt happy about that because I basically wasted 8 dollars total for a skate buddy and my daughter couldnt skate. They wanted their 3 dollars and I wanted atleast my 5 for the skate buddy. They also dont enforce masks, do temp checks or pass out sanitzer like another rink I visited.
Really nice to place to skate at. The music is always great. Scott, skylar, kaiden, tre, and terri are super helpful. Staff are always nice. Thursdays are the day to come if you are learning how to skate. I recomend coming if you are trying to learn how to skate, want to have a family night, hear good music, or just to hang with friends. Food is really good, and at a good price.
Scott was very generous and welcoming to my family for my daughters 18th birthday!!! Yesss it was open inspite of corona but had all the hand sanitizer and stuff... If you ever want to enjoy some old fashion roller skating with good music and a nice atmosphere you should definitely drop in.... Oh fyi its very reaaonable price too!!!!!
This is a awesome place yall come out and enjoy yourself skating
Very friendly people made us feel very welcome..
The WESTLAKE SKATE CENTER has been around for quite a while. Its been there longer than I can remember. However, this please could use a very serious upgrade. I mean a very serious facelift. It needs to be brought up to date. It has been the same rugged and rough looking please since I know this please over 15 years ago. The parking lot is so rough that you get scared for your tires. The Staff are so rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. They dont care about customers and you can tell they dont like their jobs. The owner is even worse. When you call him to make a birthday reservation, he doesnt talk to you with a professional tone at all. The talks to you as if he could care less about your business. I had to cancel my daughters birthday party I was to have there and went somewhere else
Great rink. Visiting Dallas and stopped in with family. Message to locals, you are very lucky to have this in your area and state. Roller rinks are vanishing across the country. They need your support. Its great family fun and excellent exercise. Enjoy!
Place is nice for a family outing. Food needs help. Bring extra pair of socks if you rent skates because their skates smell like foot fungus. Staff is friendly.
Nice people. My kids and i love skating here.
Westlake is the goat and the best day to go is Saturday!!!!
My daughter and I frequent this place. I like the wooden skate floor vs the concrete at other rinks. I wish they would do some updates on the carpet though. There are always lots of young people (tweens &teens) but that’s normal at any skating rink. There are the occasional couple on date night and a few older gentlemen who use skating as exercise. I’m updating my score from 5 to 4 because the carpet is even worse that it was before but they have update the outside parking lot to asphalt, which is good.
I love to skate. My girls celebrated their 9th birthday there and they had fun. But, it is time to update the interior of the building starting with the floor.
I love this place so fun
Of course you love to see the family is very happy so give him the gift to play with Westlake
It’s cool but to much tape on the floor I still like it is active
I gave my daughter party there today and it was great SKYLAR was our host and she did a great job with everything I definitely will do this again..
Having my daughters birthday party here now and this place is way over priced. For one this place does not provide order out pizza for your party.. its a Tombstone pizza that you buy at a grocery store for $4 and they charge you $10... its cash only and they did not turn the ac on untill after they open the doors. Which means our kids family and friends where skating in a hot enclosed space. You can not take your food and drinks outside of snack bar area. This place is also very out dated. It feels like they have to over charge everything just to keep the place up. I do not recommend this place to anyone at all....
No better way to ring in your thirtieth year of living than a few laps around this pristine hardwood rink. Though, if youre pregnant and need to vomit, I wont say the bathroom wont help get things moving. Came for the speed skating, stayed for the tramp stamp temporary tattoos and dope playlist. Seriously, that DJ slaps.Dont be alarmed when they ask for your shoes. Gotta make sure people dont just walk out with their primo blades.
Fun place. Great prices. Great customer service.
It was super crowded, didnt have any skates available, trash all over, and the place had unsupervised kids all over just tearing up the place. Well by unsupervised I mean no parents, seems like it was a dumping ground for kids by their parents, leaving it to the two cops to watch over them. The owners were very nice and refunded me my money since we could not skate. Only reason why I gave it 3. If I didnt get my refund it would have been 1.
Its an alright place to skate. The biggest issue is the customer service. They have overpriced food that you can buy at the store like the Tumbstone pizza. Theres also really rude employees there, all of the people in the front are unfriendly and impatient, especially the woman. She is racist and rude. A lot of the teens there are also rude and impatient, dont come here!!
Have been skating here for a few years now and havent been disappointed with my experiences. Place is down to earth and doesnt have strict rules, but their security doesnt tolerate people being reckless or starting fights. Floors and skates feel much better than most other local rinks. If youre nice to the staff, theyre nice to you. Ive noticed this also includes getting the nicer skates.
Would have given 4 stars if I had a nice story to share. I took my 7 year old daughter to learn to roller skate. We had no idea this rink was so close, I was so excited. We were going to bring her second grade class for her birthday next month for her party. Until I was accused of stealing this skate crutch thingy to help younger kids skate. A boy no older than ten years old told me I stole his crutch and when I told him I had not, and to go find his parents if he was having an issue, he told me his parents told him to come talk to me. I didnt believe him. so I skated over, showed them my receipt and told the adults he was with about his behavior. The man threw my receipt I showed him at me. littering the rink. He said the boy never said that, that I was lying and starting trouble. It he didnt say trouble. he used alot of profanity and even called me a fat, you know what.Their entire group was laughing and starting at us. My daughter is shy and gets bullied at school, we didnt need it at this rink. This isnt the 1980s anymore, you should not accept your patrons bullying other patrons. I told management, who said he would handle it. but all I saw was him give a ten second lecture to the boy. His parents were at fault. They should have corrected him, and fixed his behavior, instead they taught not only their child but everyone watching that bullying is ok. So on my single parent salary I paid for the trip for nothing. we literally were there 45 mintues. most of which were either out to g on our shoes, teaching my kid how to skate then the weird experience. The staff was older, I liked them. I felt they would help and tell the other party to stop or leave. or just kick them out. The whole experience caught me off guard and made me sad. we desperately need to educate our children and teach kindness so ignorance can be laid to rest. I guess thats a longshot.Had this never happened, I could have gone back twice a month and had at least two parties there. it was a nice little spot. old school. Im sorry I didnt get help there or I would have given 4 stars. 5 stars if they tidied up.
I wish I could leave zero stars. My friend booked a private party and we were kicked out by the owner after 30 minutes of our two hour party. The owner is extremely rude and accused us of having alcohol in the rink when we did not. We even told her to smell all of our beverages to prove it, which she would not do. She screamed at our entire group and was EXTREMELY unprofessional. The owner will be the downfall of her business. I highly recommend you find somewhere else for skating and/or a private party. Shame on you, Westlake. As someone who has worked in customer service a very long time, this is not how you should handle customers.
Absolutely horrible experience. We arrived for a birthday party and the owner herself yelled at guests as well as the birthday girl due to a miscommunication. As soon we understood we could not bring food and drink, it was removed from the premisses. She then proceeded to kick everyone out AFTER paying for a 2 hour private party. We felt threatened and not safe due to the owners verbal abuse.
Cannot believe the unprofessionalism of this business. After booking a private after-hours party, we learned after the fact that there was no alcohol allowed in the establishment and immediately took it outside. The owner showed up, belligerently yelling and cursing at everyone, saying she didn’t believe we took all the alcohol outside. What a joke. She was rude to her customers, but somehow even more rude to her employees. Avoid this place like the plague. From the look of the cleanliness of the place, avoiding it may keep you from catching the plague, honestly.
My girls just love it here...nice staff too
I love the place
The business owner should be ashamed of how she carried herself in HER OWN establishment. I will never return, neverRecommend this place to anyone, and never EVER let anyone disrespect me they way she did.
Horrible worst experience for my grandkids bad service and when we complain about it they called the police and ruined the grandkids birthday party they ask us not to come back only served soda and ice cream and we asked if we could get food from somewhere else she replied absolutely now it was sad for the kids
My kids have had birthday parties here and they come and skate and have a good time
Its a fun place to go to have fun with tour friends.
Always a fun place to go. If you havent been, you should try it.
Brings back lots of great memories! Worth every dollar would go again!
Made me sad
I loved the atmosphere that the place had and I love the choice of music, but when I went there was a cord that was sticking out and a lot of people triped over it. Overall I had a good time.
Love love love
Havent skate since HS back in 2012 . this place is amazing
It was okay, because the owner or manager on duty was sort of rude. He never made eye contact and raised his voice at us when he told us that we could only skate for an hour because they would close soon. I mean the skating rink was great but just the experience was not the best.
I go there all most every weekend wth my friend and its the best
This roller rink needs to be bulldozed. Nothing good about it. Service is ungodly awful and the old lady should be in A nursing home or a place equivalent where people treat each other mean and nasty, just as she does. Known her for over 20 yrs and she has always been hateful and rude. She does not like kids... not even some of her own. The old and tearing up rink will tear a good pair of skates up. The place is dirty and stinks. Ive spent ALOT of money here, or should I say wasted, but now will take my business elsewhere as well as many others.
I went for the second since about two years ago. I enjoy skating and dancing around so I try to find a good one. I wouldnt recommend this to more advanced skaters. There were so many kids cutting through everywhere without paying attention. It made for good dance moves, but I didnt make it out without bumping a few. Music was a strange selection. Some popular old rap hits questionably suitable for the age groups there while playing other selections as well. Could use an upgraded speaker system. The floor was really dirty and not quite my shine. It turned my wheels black so Ill be doing some brushing. All in all, its okay for young parties or close entertainment if you dont mind all that. It was almost like a daycare which isnt a bad thing because the staff can handle it for sure. Staff was always working and did great. They pay attention and keep charge of the floor. What can you expect with young kids trying to have fun? From my view, Ill give a generous three stars.
DO NOT GO HERE. Id give no stars if i could !!!staff is rude and unprofessional!! The old woman who i believe is the owner harassed my family and i over an unopened water bottle! Maybe if the place wasnt old, with no a/c, we wouldnt have needed a water! After i was told to take the unopened water to the food court to finish in a very rude way, we did with no problem, she then proceeded to come back to us and asked us where the water was and if i listened to her and took the water over there, i told her we did and we not longer felt comfortable there so we left. Food, drinks, candy, toys are overpriced. Music sucks. The skates are old and tore with rips. I would not recommend going!!! My family and i will not be going back, even if we have been going there for over 15 years! so sad. !!! Save your money and do not go here !
I love this place! And the staff is awesome!
Its so much fun. I go there ALL the time and is willing to pay extra for the late skates!!
Celebrated my daughters birthday and we had a blast. There was breakdown in communication during some parts but all in all she had a wonderful time and it was great to put skates back on after years. We will definitely go back.
It’s a great experience, the floor is smooth and great for skating .
2 stars just because its open. But the owners could put some $ into the place. There is more duct tape than carpet on the floor and the rink was a land mine of dried gum. There was only 1 trash can (you have to walk the length of the building, into the snack bar. What kid is going to do that?)which means there is trash everywhere. Come on, give the kids a nice place to come. Now that White Rock is closed, you could be THE place for family fun in LH.
Like the place, it is very nice and fun but, I wish they had newer skates.
The skating is fun but the tiles definitely need to be replaced. Especially in the food section where there are molded tiles Its a really old place that need renovations tbh but its still a chill place for kids to go to run off energy
Down to earth staff....cool music and atmosphere felt fun and safe
I broke my ankle at this skating rink no one call me to check on me 3months no income customer service
The service was great! The staff is friendly, helpful, and great attitude.
Walking in and Gave the owner a greeting Hello How are you along with no greeting back he didnt even give me eye contact. This isnt the first time its happened. Owners are Rude, he handed my change back and gave me the OK to go in.. Instantly hit in the face with heat and odor and Im pretty sure those to dont mix well together especially when it comes to exhausting skating No A/C in a Skating rink, youll do more resting than skating for sure. You may have to drive a while but go somewhere else, if i wanted bad customer service Ill go to Walmart
They don’t have extra skates Nd they have bad service
Such a fun spot!
Me and my friends go there all the time and always have fun.Staff is awesome too
Great music the night I was there, not too crowded on Fri night. Rollerblade selection could use some help and more places to sit down with skates on outside the rink would be nice
Feels like an authentic skating rink. P good DJ. That carpet tho.. I love it.
Dirty beat up interior. Skating floor was beautifully intact. Did my kids have fun? Of course!! Police presence on a Friday night was a little intimidating but after witnessing the escalating ‘fight’ emotions rise in some girls Im glad they were there. Prices are fair. Food ok. I think if they cleaned it up a bit the place could really run!
Kids had a blast. Organized and entertaining.
Nice for a rental or private party. Affordable. Very used, better to bring your own blades/skates...
It is definitely NOT safe. People have broken bones there right in front of my eyes there before. I kicked a little kid in the BACK OF THE HEAD (not on purpose) last weekend because he was rolling around on the floor. Definitely not worth going back. Sticking to Dads Broadway from now on.
Awesome place for kids & adults! I will always keep coming back!
I was here about a month ago and everything was all good in my book. It wasnt dirty, the music wasnt vulgar, and the customer service was good. There were no kids the night I went which meant a lot of open area to practice your moves. I recommend it.
Great rink. I was surprised how smooth the floor was and the skates were decent too. I expect it to be older building and from my experience growing up going to roller rinks I expect the bathrooms to be gross too lol so really my only complaint is the selection of music... One night they had a good selection but every other time the music was horrible. Looking for other rinks in driving distance just to find somewhere with more variety in music.
We had fun ...
I remember coming here as a kid and having a blast with my friends. Now in my 30s, I stopped by last week with my wife after not having been back in over 20 years. The interior still looks the same! It was nostalgic. The only thing that I disliked was that it looked really run down. I would definitely come here again if they did some renovations. It doesnt have to be all modern and such. Just cleaned up a bit.. Okay maybe a lot..
Cheap and Awesome
My younger years rollin @ the rink.
I bring my kids here every Thursday, $3 admission includes skate rental. Its a little old and rundown, they could use a good cleaning and some updates but the people are friendly and the regular patrons are a pleasure to be around, 9/10 recommend.
I went recently it was awesome i had alot of fun!
Ok place to skating, old building.
Three dollars Tuesday was great but they didnt have any skates in size 10 for me so I had to wear 12s. Its all original old school skating and its a lot of fun.
Needs cleaning but all and all safe, affordable and fun
Yes it could use some upgrades but over all nice. One suggestion though. They should make a section for less experienced skaters. 5 people bumbed into me in 2 hours.
Great Fun Family Entertainment!! We go regularly and had several parties!! Staff is great! Family based business!! Private party we had ROCKED it was easy staff cleaned up and helped my guest 100% all the way!
Paid extra for speed skates but they didn’t have any sizes larger than a 6. Full of kids dropped off by their parents. Kids constantly cutting you off and making it unsafe to skate. All the employees are teenagers and can’t control any of the kids. It’s uncomfortable and certainly not worth $10. Wish i could get my money back :/
Good skate rink. My nephews sometimes have their birthdays here. Decent price, friendly staff, although sometimes I have to wait for someone to get us skates.
A lot of fun love to spend my weekends there favorite game is Teddy Bear Tag wish food cost less money overall great place to hang out with your friends would recommended 8 out of 10
I love there skates theyre safe and they also have walkers for children that day that dont know so we thank you
This place is extremely hazardous I witnessed Many kids getting injured including my son this place was also filthy the owner was extremely rude and I was harassed when Iwas there, there was no a.c. the music was also very bad and tye kods ther were using inappropiate language I will not recommended this place to no one not will I ever come back this place needs to be reported to the better business bureau
It was great kids had fun
It needs to be updated. The seating around the rink was nice especially for beginners.
Very dirty place. We will not go back.
Havent been here in about 10yrs. Still great to see the younger generations being taught to skate. We had a birthday for my granddaughter turning 9.
This place needs to be totally renovated from the floor/crappy-crappy-crappy, carpeting to the ceiling. Its so deteriorated from what it was back about 10-20 years ago! It was pretty warm in there, only a very few areas like the snack bar, and a couple of places on the skating rink floor were blowing cold cold air. It looks really really run down and ghetto.
