Garden city GOLDFISH rocks! From the facilities to the staff. They are nothing short of amazing. Staff and instructors are constantly making you feel safe and comfortable. They communicate with you and thats a big thing for me. They are always willing to help in whatever way they can. The facilities are constantly being sanitized and cleaned. Which in this time is huge. My kids are super comfortable and so am I! I wouldn’t dream of taking my kids somewhere else. We love goldfish!

Gold Fish is a wonderful swimming school! My son and daughter enjoy the atmosphere and have learned how to be efficient swimmers! I am grateful for the instructors and staff at the desk for being professionals. Im only giving a three because I wasnt well received like some people. Its like they dont know whats going on which child goes where. It was very confusing. Every day they was trying to change my daughter with a different teacher. The only thing I cared about was my daughter learning how to swim and I was fortunate to get amazing teacher her name is Aja she made my daughter feel so comfortable.

Great place for kids to learn how to swim

We always have a great experience at Goldfish! Our kids cant wait for their lessons. The staff is super friendly and the instructors are amazing! Ive recommended so many of my friends there

I love the facility that it’s SO inviting and colorful for kids and all the staff is very helpful. I don’t feel like the instructors are always consistent but we have also moved times but even so they’re not always the same as the week before. Some instructors are more hands on and will ensure you are doing the correct movement with your child which I really appreciate in addition to the demonstration. Really happy I found the Goldfish family for my little fish.

We have tried many swim schools in New York, and Goldfish Swim School stands way above the rest. They are professional, friendly, and have a good formula for improving the swimming ability of children. The facility is inviting, clean, accommodating and comfortable. We highly recommend this business!!

Ive been coming to this location since my daughter was very little. We do not get regular teachers, most of them are great but I sign up for classes because of certain teachers and its still inconsistent. Their prices are VERY high for a 30 min class and I think its unreasonable that they arent flexible with their class schedule and withdrawal policy. The experience I get with the counter or when I call is different from a year ago in a bad way. Unfortunately, there arent many options for swim classes for kids in the colder months. I was very happy here for the 2+ years we were here but unfortunately, I will not be coming back.

I have been so happy with Goldfish. I love how it is organized and how awesome the teachers are. My daughter is doing unbelievable and it has been such a joy bringing her.

My daughter- she loves it, so I love it. I only wish the instructors didnt rotate so often. As soon as she is used to someone- there is usually someone different in the lane from the previous week. She responds better with the instructor(s) who are more hands off and encourages her to do more on her own. Something tells me she would advance at better pace if that was consistent within her lessons. But overall, you guys rock!

I wanted to add on how much I appreciate the instructors. They are so patient with the children. I have two enrolled, and it’s been great.

I demand this facility to close down!!!!!!!! They almost DROWNED my son!!!!!!!!!! ZERO STAR!!!Do not rely on the instructors to keep your little one safe in this place.My son was going here for three months when one day the instructor almost drowned my three year old son. My son’s face was in the water and he was unable to breathe for almost 10 seconds while the instructor took her eyes off of my son and wandered elsewhere!!! I suddenly noticed as he was shaking inside the water as he was unable to breathe. I ran and told the girl instructor that he was drowning! She showed no concern and slowly reached him and pulled him up. My son immediately threw up the water he had taken in. I complained right away to the life guard, front desk attendants and managers. They returned my call and apologized the next day and offered me a free month. A free month does notttttt justify my son almost drowning!!! I do not think I will ever trust them with my son again. The instructors change by the minute. I had started loving them but now I just pray and hope that they truly focus on keeping great instructors and not change them by the minute. They really need to focus on employee meetings everyday. It’s a huge responsibility to keep people’s kids safe while swimming and something of this sort can truly hurt someone in the near future. I will not be taking my son here any longer and neither should any parent.

Great place-- always clean, nicely decorated. The instructors are friendly, welcoming, and patient with the kids. Their reception can be hard to reach on the phone sometimes, thats the only negative Ive experienced.

My son Started swim lessons last week. I’m loving the cute decor and the cleansiness of the facility. Staff is super sweet, even though they are young, they hold themselves very professional. My 3 y/o looks forward to swim class every week and I’m looking forward to seeing his progress as a little swimmer.

Our daughter is 4 and, although she does love swimming in family pools with her swimmies on, she was very scared of the lesson and getting her head wet. The instructors at Garden City (especially Tori) were so incredible patient and kind to her. They made accommodations to make sure that my daughter felt comfortable and got the full lesson in. By the end, she didnt want to leave the pool. We are very grateful for the care my daughter was given. Thank you!!!

A great place to bring starter and intermediate swimmers for lessons. Its a great and fun facility. The staff and instructors are patient, polite, professional and knowledgeable. I recommend them highly!

Love this swim school...friendly staff, clean facility, scheduling flexibility and they are very accomodating when I need to cancel and reschedule a class even at the last minute.

Her first class was grate is was a little worried but from the front desk to the pool made her feel so welcome...w had a little time mixup and they accommodated us..wonderful sweet staff.

Great location and flexible hours for busy families! My children really enjoyed their swim classes. The instructors were very nice and made my children feel at ease at all times; they openly answered any questions and provided tips on how to improve/advance. I am very pleased with the level of service, from the office clerks to the instructors. Currently my 4 year old is swimming after only 4 classes! The fact that your membership extends for a year is great! You can use the open swim days throughout the year, even if you aren’t enrolled for a month or two!

Ok... am I the only one that doesn’t like the way they teach? I have 3 beginner children. They put them all in one lane with another student. How can 4 students learn in half hour. Last lesson was on Saturday. I will not say her name, but the instructor was very rude and ghetto to my child. Taking them to Saf-t swim where they can get one on one lessons and better chances of learning.

We love goldfish swim! Kiesha is so great with the kids my daughter is 7 months old and as soon as we walk into the building she gets so excited to go swimming. Everything is neat and clean and the water is so warm it’s like walking into a bath We look forward to going to swim class all week long!

I love that there are so many different times for the same class. It makes it easy to switch classes if our schedule changes. Miss Brittany is the best - she is so warm and friendly - and Im so happy to see the progress my son is making!

If I could give no stars, I would. We had my sons first swim lesson at 9:30am yesterday morning and the instructor put my son in danger. My son is 3 and it was his first lesson ever. The very first exercise they did had my son swimming on his belly with the support of the instructor going in one direction, but then as he swam back in the opposite direction suddenly the instructor let go of him! My son immediately went under water and the instructor didn’t even pick him up right away. It was seconds before he helped him come up. My son was gasping for air and frazzled. After the class ended I asked him about the level of the class and how this could possibly be day 1, lesson 1 if my son doesn’t even know swim basics. His response was “this isnt my normal class, I’m just filling in here. Talk to the next instructor about it”. Clearly upset, I put in a complaint with the front desk and they told me a manager would contact me. Four hours later I still had not heard from the manager, so I called them and again I was told the manager would call me back ASAP. I still have not received a call. It’s bad enough that they put my child in harms way, but to not even have the professionalism to give me a call is disgraceful.

Update: coach was actually sick that day, it was a substitute coach. Weve changed to another class and will see if a new coach could get him back on track.Avoid coach Sebastian! (Thursday 4:30 Junior 3 class). Weve had a great experience until we moved to his Junior 3 class. He left my son (who just turned 4 last week) unattended in the water for too long without helping or even looking at him, he was looking somewhere else and let my son struggle! Up until this level, they didnt teach how to change breathes and he was teaching a new move, in which case the kid needs to be helped and guided, not left to struggle!!!

Everyone there is so friendly! Its always a positive experience, even when they are super busy. My daughter is only 10 months old and she loves every minute of it. So happy we found this place!

The staff is amazing, great customer service always willing to help and they have no problem rescheduleing classes, somethimes my availavility to take my daughter is challenged by my hectic schedules. The facility is always clean and nice, best of all is that my daughther loves to go there.

Super mixed on our experience. It’s bright, clean and cheery, and my daughter liked going (she was at Goldfish for about 2 1/2 years). But once she stepped outside of the school, it was immediately evident she hadn’t learned proper form or technique, despite being in the highest level at Goldfish. She was immediately “demoted” to level one in her day camp, alongside kids who had little to no swim instruction. It’s very frustrating — she’s having to learn skills like freestyle and side breathing that Goldfish deemed her proficient in. At her level they were teaching her butterfly, when she couldn’t properly do freestyle or, even, swim a single lap (length wise) across the pool. We’re now, essentially, starting over. In retrospect, I think it’s an ok introduction to swim, but they shouldn’t have kept moving her up until she truly mastered certain basic skills. I emailed the school and had also shared my experience with the a woman who later told me she was at a Michigan office (even though I called the Garden City number). I haven’t heard anything back, but hoping our experience is at least considered by management — very upsetting for a six year old to hear they’re very close to swim team one day, then be bumped back with kids who are just learning to kick and blow bubbles the next.

I attended 2 birthday parties here and was really impressed with the facility that I signed my daughter up for lessons. Weve only been there 2 weeks but so far no issues. The place is clean and they keep to their class schedules.

Excellent facility. My daughter absolutely loves coming here. The swim instructors and the overal staff are so nice and accommodating.

My sons just completed two weeks of the jumpstart program here and I love it. My 7 year old started off the program never wanting to leave the pool edge and by the end of the two weeks, he was doing the backstroke. My oldest was already a swimmer but they taught him all of the different swimming strokes. The staff is amazing and the atmosphere is fun. The facility is super clean.

Organized and always on schedule. Friendly staff, and place always clean. Haven’t had to use makeup classes yet so can’t speak to the process. I love that even if your little one is crying they work with them and get them comfortable instead of giving up on them.

I absolutely adore the instructors- they are so wonderful and sweet. The pool and surrounding area are clean and well organized.

Worst experience ever.Sign up for private class but they take advantage by training new staff with private class.My 3 sons there for months and still doesn’t know how to swim.Do not recommend if you want to learn how to swim. For babies to get comfortable with waters only.

The place is adorable, clean and well managed. The teachers are well trained and the kids love them, they learn alot at each class. They have showers, blow drying station, changing room, bathroom and snacks you can buy from there. Great place to take babies and kids for swim lessons!

The facility is clean and very inviting. I used to think my children needed private lessons to excel. However, after switching to goldfish and experiencing their group lessons, my children are excelling week after week. The style of teaching and availability of classes is great. The staff is lovely and always willing to help.

Have been taking my sons here for almost 2 years. Started off great and now with them moving forward in levels & with the large class sizes (4 kids per lane) which gets so crowded the kids can barely move, limited availability to get both kids in at the same time, the sometimes difficult process of scheduling make up classes and then to top it up raising tuition in 2019 it’s just not worth it.

I LOVE the attention the children get from the staff during the classes. I ALSO like the verbal progress report given at the end of each class! By far the best swim school we’ve been to! Thanks to everyone at the GC facility for making my girls feel so happy every week!

Update: the full amount was refunded on July 30th.We signed up for classes and they said that if we dont like it after the trial class we could cancel and get our money back. We didnt like the class so we decided to cancel. Its been over a month and we havent gotten our money back. After speaking to Angel numerous times and him telling us that the refund has to be approved by the corporate office, weve never gotten a refund, confirmation email or anything from them!

Signed up my son for 1 class. They charged me for a month and then locked me in and refuse to give me a refund. Stated how they don’t want to keep my money but that’s exactly what theyre doing... absolutely horrible & unfair I don’t recommend it to anyone.

Teachers are great! Front desk staff is always attentive, patient and friendly! Facilities are always clean....to sum it up, it’s AMAZING!Still amazed at how my children swim like little fish :-)

Love everything about Goldfish!!! We participated in two other infant swim programs prior to enrolling at Goldfish. The differences were like night and day. We love that every material used in class is not just cute, but actually helping to teach my baby skills that will help him learn to swim. The instructor, the staff, the facility, the time slots...everything at Goldfish is so amazing that I would never consider going anywhere else!

The Garden City team was great from the moment we checked in through to the swim lessons (engaging even the youngest of babies). Our first visit we got a goodie bag with information about other offers, coupons, and a reusable bags and swim diaper. The instructor was very sweet with the babies and encouraging with the parents. The General Manager Dan was very accommodating with re-scheduling my daughter to the Farmingdale location which is closer for us. If it werent for the distance, Id continue to go to Garden City.

They are awesome. Everyone is friendly and help me out when needed. Rough start at first but I am glad I stayed with them. The teachers know their students and pay attention to them individually. Even if I do end up moving upstate I will definetly travel the distance, that is how satisfied I am with Goldfish Swim School at Garden City.

Not special needs friendly AT ALL. I took my autistic 4 year old here and they put her with 4 other children taking turns. She didnt understand what it meant to wait her turn. I was looking for a one on one type of lesson which they dont offer

I love the family friendly environment! We feel at home even though weve only been here in less than a month! I also loved that the staff responds so promptly to all my requests and also very organized system in getting my daughter, Jallycza to her first class and getting her evaluated to move up to the next level. I appreciate your staff, Yolanda, she was the first person we met when we first signed up with GoldFish, she also responds to email request very quickly and we were so happy to see her again last week because she always listens and makes it a pleasure to greet my daughter and give her token of appreciation for her accomplishments. Thank you all for making our experience fun and exciting every single week!

Love the facilities but staff is not helpful. No matter when I call no answers the phone. I leave messages but no one calls back. Any changes you want to make you have to do in person which is very inconvenient.

We have tried a few different swim schools and GoldFish Swim takes the prize! I have a 1 yr old in a mommy and me and a 4 year old in their group swim and both are fantastic! They have small classes, amazing instructors and a beautiful facility. I especially like that the kids do not use swim belts, and instead actually learn how to swim. The pool, and changing areas are very warm. They have blow dryers, plenty of changing rooms, and little stickers, and treats for the kids. They also give out ribbons after class to help keep the little ones motivated.

The best! So many things to mention here...love it!

Swim lessons are done well. Khaia is a great instructor. But swim team with Coach Katie was a complete nightmare. My daughter was so excited to start it and we left with her in tears. She is a rule follower and hard worker and not one of the adults there noticed that she was bright red and couldnt breathe. The lessons did not prepare her for this nor was she told that she could go at her own pace. Very deflating and upsetting. Tonights experience negates all of the weeks/months leading up to it.

Pros:Very clean, instructors are very friendlyCons:Too crowded classes, 4 people for half lane is too much.Rescheduling cancled classes is a headache, as they only reschedule 1 week.There are other places that does 1 to 1 classes. I requested for lowering number of kids for a class to 3, they said its in the fine print and their policy that;class will have 4 kids. I cancled today.
