My two boys absolutely love the sessions at the RIO location. Small classes with patient instructors who genuinely love what they do and nurture their students with kindness and professionalism. Helped my older son overcome his fear of swimming! The best!
This is, by far, one of the best swim schools in the county. The instructors are courteous and professional and extremely good at what they do. My son has only missed class when he is sick. He can’t wait to go every weekend. We are so happy to have found BSS. I highly recommend it!
They have a great set of instructors and a good curriculum to train kids to swim, but the management is not equally good. They keep changing the instructors without consultation or prior notice. Kids take time to get familiar with instructors and starts to trust them in water and all of sudden the instructor leaves or is changed. It hampers kids learning. The make up class policy is very poor too. If an instructor is sick for the lesson, they would send in a replacement instructor who have no understanding of childs progress and comforts, so all the substitute instructor is doing is kill time in the class by doing basics of the level or playing with kids and making them laugh, where we are loosing money.I have requested several times to keep a log or short notes of childs progress and share it with the substitute instructor so they can work on the exact same thing that the original instructor have been working on but that has not gone anywhere. It is expensive class. Out of 30 min class, last 5 min is free play time. Each class have 4 kids in lower level below Green hat. that means Approx 25 min between 4 kids which leaves 6 min in total for your child in 30 min class. And approximately one is paying $30/ class, which means you are paying approx $300/hr for the swimming. They would not graduate the kids to next class on consistent basis and using the same yardstick. Between all the instructor changes and makeup and cancellations child typically spends at least more than 10 months on each level and cases have been more than 15 months.I would say they have a very good program but management is very bad which leads to lot of turnover of instructors impacting childs swim learning. Some of the instructors I have met are the best of the human beings and nicest person I have met, but eventually they left and I am stuck between my childs emotional attachment to the place and paying high $ for the swim lesson.
Tracey cares for these kids! Her passion is undeniable. Along with her team of coaches and staff, Sandy, Peter, Natalie — your kids can’t be in better hands. While the initial focus is water survival; over it time it becomes so much more, technique, perseverance, positive support. We can’t wait for our son to begin competitive swim to build on the fundamentals he’s learned with Tracey and her team. #StopDrowningNow
Our son started British Swim at about 6 months old. It has been a super fun experience watching him and other kids learn to really enjoy being in the water. I love that they keep a focus on developing survival muscle memories. I also love that we can enroll any time in the year so we can sign up when it works for us. The teachers are great! Shout out to Limbani!
Excellent swim school. The teachers do a great job at working with each individual student at their skill level while pushing them to challenge themselves further.
Our daughter has taken lessons with Mr. Limbani at the Downtown Silver Spring location between 3-8 months and again between 12 - 14 monthsShe has since transitioned to lessons at the RIO courtyard over the last 3 months with Mr. Angel.Raving reviews for both instructors! We were a little nervous to switch instructors since we had a great experience with Mr. Limbani but we were pleasantly surprised to have another great one in Mr. AngelBoth are excellent communicators to both the child and the parents. They introduce themselves and always explain whats going to happen next. You can tell that they are both comfortable interacting with the children and with the parents. We have also had positive experience anytime we need to speak with someone at the main office or if we needed to reschedule a lesson. Folks over the phone are more than willing to answer our questions and accommodate our needs.Everyone has a different experience and I would encourage you to try it out and see for yourself. We are fans and will continue to go here as long as it continues to be fun for our daughter.
So far our experience with the British Swim School has been fabulous. My 4 year old son has always been fearful of the water and we have really struggled to get him comfortable. We tried lessons with another popular swim school in the area and they didn’t go well at all. After working with him ourselves for a long time to get him acclimated to the water, we signed him up for classes with the British Swim School. I was amazed when the instructor got him to jump in the first class while holding her hands, and when she got him to jump in on his own in the second class. He’s now working on floating independently and is so excited to get in the pool both when we have class and when we go to th pol ourselves. We are going to stick with it until he is swimming completely on his own.
We couldn’t be happier with the British Swim School experience! Our daughter has been taking lessons since she was 3 month old and she loves the water. The program is safe and fun for babies. A great way to acclimate them to the water so they never fear the pool. It’s also a wonderful family bonding activity. I would recommend BSS to any new parent.
We are loving British swim school!! All the instructors really care about your childs success!! Everyone always knows your name and is so friendly! We are so happy we have chosen British Swim School!!! It makes us feel so much better she is learning how to be safe if ever found in a dangerous pool situation!!
Enrolling my daughter was the best thing I’ve ever done. My daughter has grown to love the water and not be afraid. Miss Alyssa and Miss Kimmy at the Rio location are awesome instructors and have built a bond and trusting relationship with my little girl. My daughter started as a tadpole and is now a seahorse and she has learned so much! You won’t regret enrolling your child.
Our son went from being afraid of the water to being on the swim team! Weve been really happy with all of the help and support British Swim School of Moco has given our son to get him here. I can highly recommend them! Great teachers and coaches!
The instructors at the Rio Marriott location are terrific! So engaging that the kids actually want to listen to them! My son loves going to swim class every week and greets each instructor loudly upon entering the pool area.
Instructors and deck ambassadors are very passionate, friendly and patient. We love British swim school.
So far so good. After a few lessons, my kids are already more confident in the water and have improved !
I really enjoyed the time my daughter spent at BSS. I think for her needs, we probably should have more private classes since she didnt like sitting on the side of the pool and feeling cold when it wasnt her turn. Other than that, the instructors were go great and patient! I would recommend.
The instructors are great! We had a lot of fun but it isnt worth the money. BUYER BEWARE: I thought I signed up for 8 classes and paid in full up front. However, I still got charged each month even when we stopped going. I called to get a refund of the months we didnt attend, instead I just got a credit and was told to basically read the fine print next time. Ok thanks, I am human and Im sure Im not the only one who has made this mistake before. Maybe the instructors need to remind the parents to call to cancel the membership 30 days in advanced. However, I think the policy should be changed where you pay up front for how ever many lessons you want and then you dont keep gettin charged every month. I would recommend doing Swim First or lessons through the county. But now I feel trapped into going again since I have to use up my credits. Very frustrating.
British Swim School was great for our family. Our boys loved their teachers and learned so much from about age 3 to almost age 4. I would have given 5 stars but we had issues with cancellations, reschedules, and teacher changes happening frequently when we were there which made it difficult to find consistency for the kids.
We started out a little rough because no one explained the BSS process when we got started so there was some confusion about billing and cost. There were a lot of cancellations at our original location at the RIO Washingtonian Center then they closed down the pool for several months for repairs so we had to move to another location. Then we moved back and things were okay for a few months. Then there were constant issues and classes were often canceled, sometimes we were already on our way. We have since moved to the LA Fitness on Quince Orchard and the Copley Center location since our daughter has 2 classes per week. We have had no issues since our move a little more than a year ago. All of the employees are so great and for that reason we never gave up on BSS. Our daughter has been taking classes for the past 2 years, since she was about 1.5 year old. She can now float independently, climb in and out of the pool, jump in and roll over and so much more. We all love her instructor Ms. Megan. We love that she isnt just learning how to swim, but she is also learning survival skills. We plan to keep going until she decides that she wants to do something else.
Very happy with the instructors, but scheduling can be a little tricky sometimes. Staff are friendly and flexible
My daughter has really enjoyed her experience at BSS. She started out as a minnow and worked her way up to the swim team in less than a year. I dont know what the time frame for that should be, but Im proud of how far shes come. When I signed her up I really just wanted her to become more confident as a swimmer. Now shes learning to perfect her strokes and were seeing improvements every week. I recommend Brittish Swim School for anyone who wants their kids to learn how to swim.
We LOVE the British Swim School! Both Mr. Lombani and Ms. Courtney made my daughters experience unforgettable! Wonderful catchy songs and every instructor is so kind and patient!
Great teachers, small classes. My daughter has been with them since she could walk and now is a great swimmer and LOVES water.
We have been very happy with the teachers at British Swim School. They have been good teachers, and for our four year old, helped rid him of his fears.
My daughter started at 3 months old and she absolutely loves it! Her instructor and her have bonded of the months and genuinely takes an interest in her developement.
Overall great instruction. Most of the pools are great. The one at the Hampton Inn in downtown Silver Spring is really subpar though. I wish they would not use this facility.
Great experience! Miss Alyssa is so so good with the kids and gave both of them (6 and 3) the confidence, love, and tenderness they needed to be comfortable in the pool.
My girls are confident swimmers who love the water, thanks to the friendly and well-trained team of instructors at BSSMOCO. Im so thankful for the time and attention they pay my children while in the pool, and Im even more grateful that I have three young swimmers as a result!
Megan and Sarah were fantastic teachers! My son made so much progress whereas with other swim lessons he did not.
Very impressed, and I highly recommend the Germantown campus. Tracy the site director is a phenomenal person who made and effort to quickly learn both of my childrens names and to cheer them on during class.
My daughter is so happy with her swim classes
In just a few months my kids have gone from rookies to comfortable swimmers. The folks at British Swim school are awesome.
Great place for swim lessons for kids!
My 10 month old daughter loves it!!! We started when she was only 7 months old and it took a few classes before she was comfortable in the water without crying. Weve had 3 different instructors and each of them were excellent. I highly recommend giving the British Swim School a try if youre looking to sign your children up for swim lessons!
We credit British Swim School with transforming our 4 year old into a veritable dolphin. The instructors (Bryce is ours) are caring and patient and work really well with the kids.
Amazing. More expensive than the County, but well worth it. Our kids have progressed so much since starting.
Great instructors, fantastic customer service, great communication, convenient locations, reasonable price. Couldnt ask for more!
Great techniques, it would be wonderful if there was less instructor turnover!
Horrible. Inflexible - dont allow for make up classes even for illness (with a doctors note). I was willing to work with that because I really want my kids to learn to be safe with water. However - my daughter was kicked out of the class for crying to much. Yes - 1. a childrens swim school has contracted with a facility that has a no crying rule, 2. this same school signs up kids (3 yo and 20 month old) for a semi-private class at said facility (with no mention to the parent that there is this rule).I had started with them having the kids in 2 different classes at a different facility but found it too difficult to have the kids wait for the other. But at this other class - the teacher would roll his eyes at the kids and told me that my 20 month old doesnt have enough of an attention span - REALLY?Pulling my kids out of this class immediately. What a sham! Disgusting practice. Shame on them.
I was VERY disappointed with the class for my daughter (at the time 4 years old). I bought it through Certifikid for 2 sessions as I wanted her to learn in a small setting. The class was small, but the teacher was not very patient. He insisted that the kids sit quietly on the edge of the pool, and I mean quietly. He wouldnt even let them kick their feet in the water -- a bit unrealistic for this young age group! In addition my daughter knew how to swim underwater when she joined the class, and was the only child who was even willing to put her face in the water when they started. Well, due to their teaching method of learning to float on your back first, she ended up being the only child who did not get the wrist band at the end of the class. She was very upset, and came away from the 2 sessions feeling as if she could no longer swim. I felt so badly for her as in fact she was the only one who could actually swim although she could not float on her back. We have moved on to a more positive swimming experience!
Excellent - love the instructors for both adults and kids.
My oldest son has been with this company since he was 4 years old (he is now 7) and my youngest son recently started taking swim lessons through them. I am disappointed to write that I will probably need to find a new swim school. They have a terrible policy (and poor customer service) with respect to billing. If they cannot provide swim lessons, you are still billed for the class but are provided a make-up class. However, as I clearly explained to them, my son participates in a number of other activities so a make-up class is not convenient. Unfortunately, they would not budge from their policy. Just to be clear, they cannot provide the service but still bill for the service and the only recourse is to accept their make-up class. That does not make sense to me. Very disappointing.
Although frightened, our grandson bravely tried everything the instructor asked for and in the first lesson he floated on his back!
I signed up 2 kids and cancelled 2 weeks in a row because pool heater was not working. Then they kept charging even though I had credit balance. When I called to ask, the person was very rude acting like it wan my fault.I am taking my kids somewhere else. Oh by the way they need 30 day notice to cancel
If for some emergency the child cannot attend any of the future swim classes,Still the British Swim School ask us to provide 30 days notice. How can someone predict for an emergency situation. This is disgusting and totally not acceptable. They need to redefine their policy for emergency situtation.I had a very bad expereince with them.
Fantastic instructors!
