This place is a gem! Great course conditions, especially the greens. You cant beat their Eagle Club Membership also. The overall value cant be beat among competing public golf courses in the NOVA area. The North Course is a must play and the shorter South Course is a fun track. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and practice social distancing very well. Amazing golf carts too! Food and beverage never disappoints and beer prices are reasonable. They do a great job with outings and weddings. I only wish it was closer to home.
Have you ever reached into your pant pockets and found a crinkled $20?! Thats how you feel when you come to this golf course! I found this little gem when I was playing that dog track (Shenandoah Valley) across the street and boy am I lucky that this course is open to the public! The fairways are wide enough and the greens are cut and rolled so that the golf ball rolls true 16 out of 18 times (nobodys perfect)! I think the most i ever paid was $50 on the weekend (thats with a cart) and to my surprise, they have a VERY good chef that makes more than just hotdogs and hamburgers! If you havent tried this golf course, you are missing out on one of the best out west (in virginia)!
Nice place for a birthday party. PROBLEM: No masks, no social distancing, no signage. Really seems to be high risk COVID wise.
As far as $25 courses go this might be the best in the country! Had a blast there today and was super impressed with the condition even after heavy rains. The price makes this place the best deal around for golf. Good beer and food in the club house, gas carts and all the staff was courteous and professional.
South course: Friendly staff, small but adequate pro shop. Nice course layout, but greens are small and not well kept. (They need to ask golfers if they know how to fix divots) The cars are new and are great. They have GPS and electronic layout and scorecard. They also have ball wager and club brushes built right on to carts. Very convenient.
Great round of golf. Course in great shape, front 9 has had a lot of work done, it shows. Back nine almost the same, but cart paths need asphalt on several holes. Tee boxes were great and the greens very challenging and in good shape. Maintenance folks out everywhere taking care of the little things, but not getting in the way. Everyone most helpful and polite. Beverage cart came by every two to three holes, beer was very inexpensive. The best was the new golf carts: plush comfortable seat, USB charging ports, and state of the art GPS system. Will definitely return.
New Club carts were sweet, cushy seats with GPS and bluetooth speakers. Course was in good condition, for $20 you cant beat it. Greens were aerated and lightly sanded but thats why the $20 reduced price, still a bargain and worth the play.

But this is a very challenging tight little course, the staff was great, the greens are in great condition, the fairways are a little bit narrow oh, and you go back and forth several times oh, there are few blind shots because we are in the mountains after all, the course in general is in good shape

Golfed Sat 2/22 and was surprised how good of shape the course was in. The biggest surprise were the new carts! Super comfy seats and the GPS system was very helpful. Will definitely be going back this spring

I am a photographer. Today was my first time at the club photographing a wedding. The area is great for pictures, lots of options around the club, the staff is friendly. The club has 2 locations about one mile apart - one is good for a ceremony outdoors or indoors; the other one is big enough to seat close to 300. I think. Good place.

If you havent selected a venue yet for your daughters wedding, I highly recommend that you look into Bowling Green Country Club to service your need. Beautiful outdoor arbor. Great tablefare. The staff are very friendly and dedicated to making things work for you. They are very reasonably priced and located just as reasonably from good accomodations. They will also help you find other good services to fill your baking and floral needs. A breath of fresh country air.

I knew I wanted a winter wedding that was not religious, so this meant that I needed an indoor space for both ceremony and reception. I was not too thrilled about having to flip a single room as the mere thought provided me anxiety. I found EVERYTHING i was looking for and more in the Bowling Green Country Club. The space was beautiful and barely needed any additional decor to begin with. It has lots of Victorian charm with beautiful fireplaces, hardwood floors, crown moldings, and pillars! There is also a magical element to both ballrooms (north and south) with the twinkling lights. The event coordinator, Phillishia Phlew is absolutely AMAZING! She is such a warm, kind, and hardworking person who truly aims to please and make your day everything you want it to be! I am SO tremendously grateful to her as she is what really sealed the deal on us booking this place for our special day. Having someone who is so well seasoned in weddings was such a blessing! She was able to aid me in bringing my vision to life! Thank you Phillishia and staff for making our fairytale come true. Love Lindsey and Tony Holdaway

Appreciated the UNsweetened iced tea. Broccoli dish, was very good, to my surprise. Would have liked a horseradish sauce with the roast beef. Healthful salad with power greens. Cherry pie excellent. Good coffee and I am a Starbucks devotee. Great service.

Just got married here last weekend and it was the best experience ever. Phillishia is amazing and the whole staff is so helpful and nice. We had to move the wedding indoors because it started raining 10 minutes before the ceremony and it took them no time at all and it looked so beautiful. You really cant beat the food, services and beauty and its an amazing price considering how much other venues hike up prices for weddings. Thank you all so much!!!
We had our wedding here in May, 2019 --- I’m not quite sure where to begin when there are so many amazing things to say. I’ll start with the venue. Ashley Horan Eastlack and I had our reception and wedding at the South building. The arbor outside is beautifully decorated this time of year with all the flowers and greenery. They do a fantastic job on the upkeep too. The morning of our wedding, the staff was outside adding fresh soil and making sure the flowers looked their best after it had rained the day before. The inside is equally as beautiful with the tables all decorated in white and the window drapery with lights. By itself, there wasn’t much decorating we needed to do other than the tables themselves. The staff made us feel at home throughout our whole wedding. They made sure we were always taken special care of and if we needed anything at all, just to ask.And like many before us, no review is complete without mentioning Phillishia. She is hands down the best and made the whole experience completely stress free. From the endless emails asking questions to stopping by in person, she was always available and more than happy to help. She is a joy to be around and she has a way of making you calm and relaxed. She went a long way in making our wedding day go off without a hitch!

I had the opportunity to work at Bowling Green Country Club twice this past month for two sweet couples and both times were AMAZING! This is one of my favorite venues in Front Royal. The venue is stunning with well manicured grounds and friendly staff. Phillishia is among one of those amazing staff members who couples are lucky to work with. She is organized, responsive, friendly, and everything you would want in an Event Coordinator for your special day. She has many weddings under her belt and will handle any disturbances with ease if they arise. The food is ALWAYS delicious and warm. Plus as a vendor, its important that we eat when the couple eats to ensure we are ready for the next event and they always ensure that we are fed and have silverware as well as plenty of water throughout the day! They have a select number of vendors that they recommend which are only put on the list after review because they want only the best vendors to work with for their couples. Nice course. Good layout, challenging but not overly difficult. Prices are reasonable. I played the south course and plan to play the north course soon. Cant give 5 because the course is undergoing some changes and some of the course (bunkers mostly) are under repair. Regardless, good course and value for $$!!
Fairways where as high as the rough, greens hadnt been cut, course was in pretty bad shape.
2 stars for the course and 1 star for the great value. Only $18 including cart. Course isaverage difficulty. Fairways in fair condition with some bare spots. Greens in better shape. Cart paths need repair- watch out for the craters! For the money a good place to golf.
Came here for a wedding reception. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was okay. The furnishings could use an upgrade, especially in the restrooms. Looks like the original fixtures in there.

Bowling Green has two 18 hole courses, North and South. I play the South course very frequently. We always walk, since it is short (par 70) and basically flat. The condition of the course varies greatly, and is heavily dependent on how the weather was during the golfing (& grass growing!) season. For 2014, the course was in great shape every time I played. However, 2014 was a wet and mild summer. The greens are slow, and typically have a long nap on the grass surface itself. (Think cut pile carpeting versus the hard carpeting thats in your work office). The sand traps, though are horrible. The course is easy to play, and you can score, especially since it has three very short par 4 holes. Also the par threes are not long, so you can hit the greens on those too. This is my one of my favorite courses.

Bowling Green Country Club was a picturesque venue to have our June wedding. From our very first encounter, Phillishia Plew was welcoming and beyond helpful. She gave us practical advice, led us through the thick of our decision-making process, and willingly coordinated the small details with confidence. Phillishia always made us feel like we were her greatest priority. The additional staff at Bowling Green Country Club kept our reception running smoothly; we heard several compliments about the meal, and the kitchen staff even accommodated our request for a late-night tater tot bar for our dancing guests. They willingly accommodated our vegetarian and gluten free meal requests as well. Katie and Phillishia kept up with the fast pace of the bar until the end of the night, and were always interacting with our guests like they were long-time friends. I even encountered one of the owners late in the evening, and he extended sincere kindness and well wishes for our new married life.The North Ballroom is beautiful on its own, so little decorating was needed to make it really sparkle for our reception, and the arbor behind the South Ballroom was adorned with flowers in full bloom during our ceremony. Both my husband and I were grateful to be given spaces that we could get ready in before the ceremony with privacy and comfort. My husband even got to enjoy a complimentary round of golf!We recommend Bowling Green Country Club to anyone looking for a beautiful wedding venue, and are confident that you will be pleased with the friendliness and hospitality of the staff.
Played the North Course and enjoyed the layout. It is a little short but in pretty good shape and the hilly terrain provided some interesting shots. However, EXTREMELY slow. The twosome in front did not let us thru despite clearly holding us up, and our teetime had no meaning, as there were 3 groups on the tee at our teetime.
