Our family has had pretty good experience with this location. They have separate restrooms that are kept quite clean. They have ample showers and changing rooms. The swimming pool is nice even if it does tend to run on the high chlorine side. They have a good assortment of apparatuses in the weight room and aerobic machines. Most of the staff are very helpful, however, there are some rough ones. They offer quite an assortment of classes and there is a preschool here too. The kids watch is really great. We have had a membership here for years and will continue to go in the future. If you found this review helpful, please hit the Like. Thanks.
Horrible experience. Unhelpful and rude staff. Seating in the pool area is abysmal. No room for ANYTHING. I will never come here again and Ill make sure to let everyone I know to avoid this place at all costs
I usually give great ratings, but my experience here has been pretty dismal. A couple of employees have a hard time saying what they mean, and it makes it really hard to communicate. Im not sure why these people are in customer service type roles. Bad placement. :( I signed the kids up for a yearly membership, but after my experience its unlikely well come back after swim lessons are over.
Great facility; lacking in employees and management. The pool is frequently closed due to lack of staff, and the membership cost is pricey. Lifeguards are friendly, though several staff members have been less than polite on many occasions. Swim team has priority on the pool, and its very hard to find time to swim with a full-time working schedule. I have asked several times if I can only pay for a membership to the pool, since I do it for rehab and dont use the rest of the facility, but nobody has ever responded. Lots of $$ for a cramped swim!
Staff members are friendly but the facility itself is disappointing. They must be making money hand over fist but dont seem to be putting money back into the facility for upgrades and updates. As such I truly believe that if a private gym with a pool (such as LAFitness) opened up, people would leave here in their droves. The changing rooms are cramped with a tiny bench for your things. There are no designated dry areas in the changing rooms and its a bit frustrating to dodge the puddles when changing. The pool is not open for free swims often enough. There is a real lack of good equipment. They could do with purchasing more of the good treadmills (like the ones on the left), the tall stairs steppers and recumbent bike. Its frustrating to have to wait to get on a decent machine. Also I think there should be a 30 minute time limit on the cardio machines. In summary, this is a very busy place and there seems to be no effort to improve the facility or equipment. As such, I think if a private club with a pool/indoor courts opened up, people would leave the YMCA in their droves!
James E. Trott & wife Rosemary bought Blue Berry Hill in Nov. 1942& I grew up there. The full price was $4000. A beautiful & sometimes cold hill I Father installed central heating & siding on the old house
We joined the YMCA so that we could swim with our young children year round. They have a nice small pool for young children. However, the pool is not open/available very often. It is very difficult for working families to use it other than random times during the weekend when it is extremely crowded. We also tried to use their swim lessons, but they do not have enough slots available, and the classes fill up by 7 a.m. the day they are open. They state that they are family friendly, but after being members for about a year, that was not at all my families experience.
Nicest Y in Southern Maine. Lots of varied programs. Good machines to work out on with no signups or time limits. Lots of parking. Welcoming staff.
Very friendly staff, good facilities. Usually not too crowded when I go.
Average equipment, lots of activities for the whole family. Make sure you check the times for foot traffic because its pretty accurate. They also close pretty early for a gym because theyre geared for families.
I liked this YMCA. Staff was always friendly. They offer lots of different courses. Very clean.
Nonprofit? How you charge a monthly fee to be in the building. Ymca was to be for the community not to suck money from the community. This is a private gym not a community facility. I just moved to Freeport and took my son out to to something and they wanted $20 dollars to swim for 30 mims, got to be kidding me. Is there a water park or something?
Excellent facility, great staff, tons of choices for ways to exercise. We are very fortunate to have this facility in our community.
Friendly front desk staff. The gym area has plenty of machines and there is a track to walk as well. The swimming pools are nice and the locker rooms are maintained well. This YMCA does not have an indoor basketball court, which is a huge downside in the winter.
The Casco Bay Y is a great place for me to take quality classes at an affordable price and the facility is great!
Healthy and Happy. I recommend a family membership!
Great employees, fantastic schedule - classes are rarely canceled.
Average facilities. Excellent child care and helpful staff.
