What a great park! There are a lot of places to explore and history to learn. We brought our dogs and had a great time.
Peaceful & connected to Pinkerton Park at the Harpeth River.
Cool place. Nice hike. Took the trail from the park all the way to the rail road tracks. The view is very cool.
It brings you real close to history when you look at trenches and mounds that were dug by hand 150 plus years ago. Ramps and wooden walkways make it convenient and help to preserve the site. There are plaques in various locations that explain what happened.
So beautiful and fun! Had no idea it connected to Pinkerton Park-- it was a perfect nature walk for our toddler-- spent about 1.5 hours leisurely walking around :)
Lived in Franklin for 10 years, and this was the first time at the historic site, and neighboring park. Great walking paths with historical markers with civil way information, and the neighboring park has a great walking path that connects by a bridge to downtown Franklin.
Walking trail. Rope swing. Playground. Nice park.
Best place for walk and play. You can hike as well.
Worth the stop. The view of the river and valley is breathtaking. If you love history you will love this
Great little hike to a civil war fort. Very historic site with great views of the battlefield.
This place is great for multiple activities like walking or running. Great views and lots of shade from the trees. A very nice park that is very photogenic.
A lovely place to walk, jog, or ride a bike!
Cool little hike. Very short and easy. Close to the city and pretty easy to get to. Next to it is a children playground and a big walking/running lap.
Great history tour here.
Nice walking trail, but was expecting buildings or foundations, nope. Great signage about the battle and the fort
Beautiful landscape. A lot of natural vegetation so the city did a good job of properly maintaining! Overlook spot of Pinkerton Park, and Downtown Franklin. 3 benches at good spots to relax. Family friendly.A connected trail to the park and the train tracts that overpass the river. (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)Good for exploring, discovering history, and just having fun
Its a great view next to the Pinkerton park
Beautiful quiet area with an interesting history. As you walk around, you will see plaques containing historical facts about the area along with pictures.
Nice walk
Enjoyed the walking trails with my grandson.
As a person that enjoyed history I truly appreciate the fact that this fort has been preserve for years to come. A must see when in Franklin. Now its not gated or managed like other well known battle sites which to me makes even better. The trenches well preserve sharpshooter holes and so Sally ports in Canon bunkers are still visible.First you should read about the battle. Print out a map of the layout of the old fort. Please stay on the boardwalk provided by the parks department. Then image yourself there during the battle.Thank you to those that maintain this fort.
Very well kept landmark. It leads right into a local park. Good place for walks, hiking, running and biking with lots of history. There are also a large variety of insects like caterpillars for those that enjoy seeing all varieties of nature.
You dont have to like country music or any music to enjoy this Museum it has very colorful and very informative and displays
A great area to spend an afternoon or early morning. Very interesting history, but also just a cool spot to look out over Franklin and the surrounding areas.
One of my earliest memories was learning about forts. It was a treat to go to this location!
Beautiful earthworks with elevated walkways and interpretive signage around the bluff. Two ways to get there; up the trail and fairly steep steps from Pinkerton Park or access from Liberty Pike entrance.Great views during late fall and winter when the leaves are off the trees. During the spring and summer, bring a book, hang a hammock and enjoy a quick escape close to the heart of downtown Franklin.
Great stop for Civil War Buffs
Lots of history right here. Glad someone had preserved it!
Neat Civil War fort site. A bunch of signs explaining the history of the place and where you are in the layout of the fort. The fort isnt there, but you can still see the earthwork outlines of it and the trenches, which is pretty cool.
Beautiful Park waterfall trails not so good fishing areas but absolutely beautiful
A lovely short jaunt up a natural staircase and you have a beautiful lookout from Fort Granger! Theres also a parking lot close by if you just want to enjoy a peaceful natural spot great for reading a book, having a picnic, or walking around and reading about some local history!
Very cool piece of history
It was ok. Not much to see other than some signs to read about the history of the former fortification, the earthen berm and a peek at the river. Its probably a bit more scenic in the summer when it greens up. It does connect to Pinkerton Park for those wanting a longer walk or a place for kids to play.
Fun, interactive trails that lead you down interesting paths, one of which is a quick little jaunt to downtown Franklin!
Sweet, shaded historical park; great for a walk or run, some boardwalks, some trails, overlooks the Harpeth River. Plaques tell the story of what happened here during the Civil War; let us not forget the sacrifices of those who came before us.
Nice place to break down. But would not plan a trip there on purpose.
This park is perfect for when you just want to take a brief walk in the evening times.
They have a canoeing trail. Walking trails. Dogs permitted. Playground for the kids. Bridges. Great views. Some shaded areas to lay out for picnics. Wonderful park highly recommended
I loves this place! It was so cool getting to walk through actual civil war trenches. Its not everyday you can dive back through history like this. Oh, and its free.
Poorly maintained. There is actually nothing like a fort there. Just some boards
Its a landmark but dont sneeze or blink, youll miss it.
Nice hiking trail old dirt fort nice to see
Be prepared to WALK WALK WALK! You wont want to stop exploring. Took my family (daughter 1 1/2) and it was stunningly beautiful.
Very interesting site. Enjoyed visiting.
Beautiful.
Great historic site, and many trails to use.
Civil War history and no crowds.
Been going here to smoke for years lmao
Stumbled upon this great walking trail and piece of history the other day. Pretty peaceful place to take in some light exercise and a few good views.
Nice walking around park
Small little park that is tucked behind another park. A few walking trails with some historical markers.
Fort Granger, get your hiking shoes, excellent.
Union soldiers captured and abused slaves by forcing them to build fort and used as human shields.
