Its a bit off the beaten path, but if youre in the area and willing to take a 10-15 minute detour to get here, Id recommend it. Theres no cost, but be aware that the observation deck closes at sundown. As a parent, its a unique place to take the kids to show them the huge machines that work in the quarry. To be frank, the scale is really pretty crazy. Trucks that have tires that are as big as my car, look absolutely minuscule when theyre in the middle of the quarry.Just a unique place to check out for a few minutes, I still remember coming here with my Dad and watching the big trucks move, and happy that I can still take my kids here.

Gives a good overall view of the West side of the quarry but leaves a large portion of this vast pit as a mystery!

Really good view but there is only an elevated platform to take it in. I would have liked to be able to sit and admire it while I ate my lunch. Nonetheless I think its great that the company provides this.

Beautiful lookout. There were so many geese down in the water. This was about the only place that was not frozen.

Its well off the beaten path. You really have to want it. There is no admission, no tour guide, in fact, theres no one around. But, if you want a great (but safe) look down into a huge working quarry pit, this could make your day. You get a clear view from the top of trucks and conveyer belts.

Small observation area where you can watch them working in the quarry. Surprisingly cool to see. Not something you can spend an hour at, but its worth the drive to visit it. Kids would love this place but might lose interest quickly.

Ka

Theyve got an observation deck set up where you can get a good view of the whole quarry, and with all the fencing its quite safe. Whether you are interested in the geology or the mining equipment, this is a sight to see. We ended up there on a day when they were not working and still enjoyed the experience, so I imagine if you can get there when the equipment is operating, it would be even cooler.

Amazing views. Lots of hawks gliding around just about everywhere. Would be nicer if it were a bigger observation deck, but hey, you cant beat the views for the price (its FREE!!!) Had one of the employees from the Hanson approach me and offer me binoculars to use, which was definitely a bonus, as it made the hawk watching even better. I would recommend bringing your own binoculars to improve your experience instead of relying on the benevolence of others. Definitely cant see anything else like this around the Fort Wayne area, thats for sure.
