My son had a great time at sailing camp! The staff was awesome and did a fantastic job teaching a newbie how to get started with sailing. He cant wait for next summer already. Two big thumbs up!
ECSA Sailing runs a vou very tight ship. From registration to graduation there is never a doubt that this is a first class outfit that has the best interest of the children and their families in right focus. They provide all participants a life skill that help them through all other challenges in life. Being taught to harness the winds of change and move forward with drive and purpose in an environment of uncertainty is a priceless gift to our children. This camp has built resilience into our boys, allowed them to challenge themselves and their fears, enable them to set a course for success and fight against changing environmental factor. What might seems like it would hold them back is now met with a tack or jibe and they realize the journey continues to toward growth. Sailing is a life skill that can be enjoyed well into your later years, and this school teaching them how to respect, care for and honor the tools of life, and the people that teach them along the way.Beautifully run, fantastically prepared, ready for fun and adventure!!!
We signed our son Mason up for the beginners Sailing camp. It was the best. He looked forward to going every day and when the week was over he want to sign up for another week. The Instructors were knowledgeable, professional and encouraging. They also had someone taking photos daily and posting them on their Facebook page. We will be back for next year. Thanks everyone that had a part in making this camp possible for kids and youth.
The camp was well run, and my child loved every minute. The instructors were kind and patient, and I appreciate the extra safety measures put in place this year. This was my childs 3rd year participating, and I know hell be back next year. Thank you to all involved!
My kids just finished an amazing week of sailing camp! This was their first sailing experience, and the instructors were knowledgeable, kind, and patient while always keeping the childrens safety at highest priority. We were looking for a summer camp that felt safe during the coronavirus pandemic, and this organization had safety protocols in place such as temperature taking, sanitizing stations, and mask wearing if the children were in a close proximity under a covered roof, such as sheltering from a passing storm. They finished a fun-filled week of camp asking to return again next summer, so Id say this was a huge hit! Thank you ECSA for igniting a desire to keep on sailing!
Awesome staff. Very friendly and knowledgeable. 100% recommend for anyone whos kids are looking to get into sailing!! Great work!!
Our boys have attended camp the last 2 years. They have enjoyed the staff and activities so much, they have both become youth members then involved in the Opti and high school sailing teams . Staff and volunteers have always had our childrens best interest at heart, providing wonderful role models in the community of sailing. We are so grateful to have this open to the public so friends can enjoy the same great experience with ECSA that we have.
When they changed the guidelines to where our 10 year old and 6 year old would have to where a mask for sailing camp and we informed them our kids would not be comfortable doing so, they replied that our kids would do as their told or be separated accordingly. We were nice, we tried to reschedule the kids to a date later in the summer that had availability. Robert, the president was unflexible and ended the conversation rudely.
Enrolling both our children on May 8th, 2020 for the June 8 - 12 session, we were given the expectations and guidelines regarding their sailing lessons. With COVID-19 a current topic we specifically looked for summer camps that would not force masks to be worn because we felt that this would not be the best experience for our children. Knowing that the lessons would take place outside we were sent an e-mail that stated Campers are encouraged to purchase and wear buffs/face coverings. Seeing the word encouraged implied to us that they would not be required. On June 4th, 72 hours prior to their first lesson, we received an e-mail that guidelines had been changed and that now Campers are required to wears masks. We immediately e-mailed ECSA, to ask what our options were seeing as they had made the change after we had already paid for the lessons as they were originally given to us. With spots available at the end of July when the guidelines with COVID-19 could possibly be lifted or lightened, we requested that our children be moved to a different session. After requesting a phone call, we were promptly told by Robert Harrison, current President of the ECSA that our children would do as theyre told or be isolated at least 6 ... from all other kids. With that kind of response we immediately felt we would not want Mr. Harrison anywhere near our children. The way in which this situation has been handled thru ECSA is disappointing as our oldest had an amazing time when he was enrolled for the camp last Summer and was looking forward to taking his little brother with him this time around and for many summers to come. Mr. Harrisons obvious disdain to help or rectify the ever changing rules and regulations due to the current COVID-19 situation is appalling.Mr. Harrison, you asked the following question on another review my husband left Do you allow your customers at your business Power Up Watersports dictate which rules they follow? Ill answer that here for you:When an issue arises outside of our control we present our customers, many who are return customers, with several options. When the CDC came down and stated that we were not allowed more than 10 people to a boat, we did not call our current reservations with 12 people and tell them Sorry, youll have to leave 2 of your family members at home. We adjusted and made changes in favor of the customer. We first gave them the option to rebook to another date, if they were unable to do that then we offered them the option of adding a jet ski to their rental, if that was outside of their budget then we offered them a full refund. Several options were presented to them because we value our new and returning customers. Our customer service goes above and beyond as a locally and veteran owned company. We sponsor local sports teams, are on the board of local non-profits, help the community when its in need and spend our money where we live.We are saddened and disappointed in the way this situation was handled.
My kids have gone to camp here for two years. We love it! It is so much fun. The counselors are educated, patient, and kind. It is very safe. We look forward to camp every year!
The best place for your kids to learn to sail on the Emerald Coast
