Customer service is amazing. They teach you how to throw axes and other items. They are attentive and fun. There are also other games to play while there like put pool pong (beer pong on a turf table with pool balls) and others. All the employees are super friendly and fun to hang out with. Playlist is also on point

Recently a friend invited me to The Ratchet Hatchet. Virgin thrower here and I was met with kindness, skill and great care. I truly enjoyed the experience and want to do it again. Gonzo did a great job explaining and showing the first time. Carlos was wonderful at showing different tools and explaining the harder the wood the more you needed to wet it. He made the wood wet enough for us to get a good stick. Definitely if you need a fun relaxing event Go Throw An Axe!

This place is awesome! Never before used to be able to use any kind of sharp weapon and I learned in 5 minutes and almost never missed the target. Carlos was such an awesome guy. Definitely recommend. What a fun place.

Awesome experiancre. Amd one of the few places that actually let you throw at your own pace and however you want.The addition of available beer and the BYOB policy makes it a great combination. Alchohol and throwing hatchets. What could go wrong?

My family had a great experience at The Ratchet Hatchet in Fort Walton Beach. The atmosphere was fun, and the staff was friendly and attentive. They stopped by regularly to ensure my family of 4 was having a good time and offered tips to help us all improve our throw. I am not sure what was more fun - watching my hatchet hit the target, or watching my children smile from ear-to-ear when they did the same! Looking forward to playing again soon!

The problem with living in a tourist town is that when you find a really great place, you want to keep it to yourself. But the problem with finding a really great place, is that they deserve to have it shouted to the world.The Ratchet Hatchet is one of those places.On a recommendation from a co-worker, we made a date on a Thursday evening. We showed up 30 minutes early but were able to immediately get into a spot. Hektor greeted us with a big smile right away and breezed us through the check in. (Make reservations online and sign the online waiver to get right to it!)When we were shown to our spot, we got to meet Carlos! He gave us a thorough explanation of the workings of our axe- throwing adventure, and made sure we understood all of the safety protocol. (Not just for us, but to respect their equipment, as well.) He gave a great demonstration and made sure to let us know he was there to help with anything we needed.Now, you might think that this would be a place for Jason Momoa-looking lumberjacks to saunter around and make you feel silly, but be reassured: 1) Hektor and Carlos definitely give off the confident axe-weilding type, 2) There were all different ages, groups, etc. there to just have fun and miss more than they landed, and 3) Once you get into the sheer fun of throwing an axe, youre not worried about what anyone else is thinking or doing.Throughout our hour there, we were given different throwing tools to add to the 3 types of axes. Carlos and Hektor were always on hand to help and encourage, not to mention making us feel like we were fierce People of the Axe. And, in addition to helping out, they made sure we knew they could make a beer run, too. Nice!We will definitely be back, considering an hour of athletic, good-humored fun was half the price of a dinner out. (And during the current pandemic, the social distancing is a given in an axe-throwing lounge, LoL!)Thank you, Hektor and Carlos. WOW!!! How did I not know about this place earlier?? The facilities were fantastic, the employees, even better! First time throwing an axe? They will walk you through technique. From full on pro caliber to the beginner, this place is awesome. The resident blacksmith was fun and the others, also very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend stopping by to check it out, even if you dont plan on chucking an axe.

The Ratchet Hatchet is one of those places that after the first experience with them I was really wishing I had not waited so long to check it all out! What a blast! They are in the coolest space downtown, and If you arent quite sure what you are doing, they have an amazing staff to educate and help you to feel comfortable throwing! I cannot say enough great things about my time here, and how awesome the staff was! I cant wait to go back! Oh, yeah- bring beer! :)

I wanted to provide a fun night out for my team from work. Something unique. Took my managers out for a night of pizza and axe throwing and had a blast! Gonzo and Hector gave us great tips on how to stand and throw and cheered us on! It was really awesome. We cant stop talking about how fun it was and are already planning a trip back with more of our crew from work! If you havent done this, do it! Its indoors, family friendly, handicap friendly, climate controlled and DIFFERENT! Parking is free in downtown FWB too. Thank you Gonzo, Hector and Caleb for the fun times!

If you havent been to throw axes, hatchets, throwing stars, etc at The Ratchet Hatchet in Ft Walton Beach, you definitely need to go check them out. It is hands down my favorite axe/hatchet throwing place. Hector was a great teacher, and once in awhile my #vikingwarriorgoddess came out and I did okay. Fun activity for date night. The staff are friendly and helpful with a great sense of humor. I highly recommend this for a date night (theres no accounting for taste). They are also cool with your bringing in your own snacks and refreshments. I suggest you share, but Im not your parents.

Down here TDY and stopped in when our plans fell through. Great prices and a great time. Very helpful employees. Ended up buying my own hatchet from them to practice more at home. Can not recommend highly enough.

Visited Ratchet last night, our group had a blast! We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The main employee who helped us, named Carlos, was an absolute pleasure. He made sure to help in anyway he could and even bantered with us. This is a unique place to hangout with friends, have some BYOB and throw some axes. Overall we give it a 10 out of 10 and will definitely go again!

Carlos was the man! Taught me so much and it was the most fun date I’ve had in awhile! Will definitely be going back! Fun atmosphere, awesome host, friendly, and great coaches. 5 stars!

So this was my second time here the first was an amazing experience, staff was amazing axes were good and if something happened with one of the axes in your lane you got a new one from the staff. At the new location I had the opposite experience, we came in and they were a little busy signed our waiver and paid, which by the way was about $15 more expensive than my first time, we waited a short time and got our lane. When we were walking down to our lane I heard one of the staff members telling our escort dont change the boards out...I wasnt worried until a few throws in and and our axes could not stick because there was not wood left to hit. Our axes were rather blunt compared to the first time the only axe that could stick was the small tomahawk (I spent 15 minutes sharpening myself) the axe handles were splintered as well only held together by electrical tape to hold them together the employee that was watching us apologized for it and said they had a few on order when one of our handle cracked where we couldnt use it they ran a 4 inch screw down the shaft the wrapped it with tape again. Needless to say I will never be going here again and will not recommend to anyone again.

My husband and I have someone watching our 3 kids for our 7 year anniversary. Unfortunately we decided to come here to have fun. Very hot inside. My husband and I paid $50 dollars and after 15 min we were over it. The blades were constantly slipping and I couldnt handle how hot it was.. I think the workers were having more fun hanging out and laughing.

It was a really cool experience and we will definitely be going again. The staff are super friendly and laid back. It is a very chill place to have fun and hang out. The building is pretty cramped and small, hopefully they will expand in the future. I recommend going in the early afternoon if you plan on going on a weekend. We got in immediately on a Saturday around 4:00, but noticed more people coming in as it got later.

Awesome place! The entire staff is incredibly welcoming. Carlos is a master and can teach you everything you need to know. Definitely a must stop if you’re in the area.

Had a blast here tonight!! Carlos showed us how to throw and the girls won!! Then he set up beer pong for us and it just made the whole night! Also there was a puppy named Titan!!

Cool idea but not a place run well at all. We walked up to the door there was a bunch of guys just standing there, the girl to take care of us was eating something and then finally took care of us, we were told we would get a discount on drinks at a bar next door—that was absolutely not the case, coasters said no discount so I’m not sure what’s going on there.We were by the back door and that is where large crowds pour through the door and leave the door open and smoke right there.The kicker of the entire experience was the manager riding a skateboard in the building smoking then coming up and taking one of our axes that we were throwing away and we had to go and get it back from him to keep playing. The idea of this place is cool but it is one of the most terribly ran places I’ve been to in a while.

Loved the atmosphere, the staff and the experience. They got me hooked on axe and Hatchet throwing.

Was really looking forward to throwing some axes for our date night but unfortunately just was not great....we have been there before and was much better when it had first opened. The handles were splitting and falling off constantly which made it difficult to throw. tapping them on the anvil barely helped the prices were extremely high for the quality and as we were going to our lane one of the employees asked the front desk lady if he should change the boreds on our lane and was told no they dont do that when they are busy. Our middle board was splintered so bad we were just hitting the back wall which made getting the axes to stick twice as hard.

Chill and laidback. Loved it as first timers and already plan on going back next vacation!

Good time! The owner was so laid back and friendly. We had six axes to throw in our lane. An hour was more than enough time for a group of four people. They have a bar next door where you can get discounted drinks if you play at Ratchet Hatchet. Looking forward to our next time going!

I stopped in on a whim to see what it was about and ended up staying for an hour. Reece and David (I think - I’m sorry, I didn’t get your name!) are very good, very patient teachers. It is a great time and a lot of fun. Highly recommended!!!!

A little pricy with no local discount. Music playing was smooth r&b and top 40 hip hop in an environment when you are drinking beer (byob) and throwing axes into walls. There is zero a.c. in the throwing room and the fans they have dont even blow at you when you are in the booth. Space is tight, the axes literally came undone from their handles and flew across the booth towards the ground.This place has potential but as it currently is, I will not be back unfortunately unless convinced by a group, and when they do bring it up, I will reflect my opinion to them via this post.TLDRNo a.c.Lame musicFaulty axes.Expensive.

The Rachet Hatchet is a great idea. It gets really busy on Friday and Saturday nights so I suggest booking times in advance. Good fun for both young and old, novice or expert. They offer training and coaching for first timers. It is a little pricy in my opinion. Also there is no bathroom located on property. They do have a shared bathroom close by. Building seems a little small and cramped too.

Just got done at The Ratchet Hatchet. Though I did not throw, my boyfriend did! It was so much fun to watch and to be able to talk to the owner! The owner is incredibly nice, helpful, and overall kind. The whole staff did everything in their power to help us. Even though I did not throw I felt inspired and will come back one day very soon and throw for myself. This is a MUST on any Fort Walton or Destin vacation. Make sure to come ready to get rid of any built up bad energy or anger. This place is definetly impressive and we both will be back very soon!
