We recently visited here from PA and rented paddle boards to explore the estuary. There were manatees galore...came right up to our boards! So amazing. Saw some dolphins, birds, turtles. The beach is beautiful - pristine. Awesome shells. Free tram to the beach from the concession stand is great. I went with my 11 yo daughter and we had a fantastic time. Its beautiful place. Ive spent a lot of money taking a tour up in Crystal River to see manatees. This was MUCH cheaper and we had more close encounters. Highly recommend!
I’ve been to several FLSP’s now and this may just be my favorite one so far. It was just beautiful, lots of mangroves and winding paths. There’s a gift shop and bathroom/ main area where you park, and they have a trolley out to the beach which is really nice because it’d be a pretty long walk otherwise. We spent most of our time on the beach, and even on a stormy day it was just stunning. There weren’t many waves and the water was crystal clear really far out so it made for a great day to find shells, and there was no shortage of shells to look at. I mean, in some areas they were literally just piled up like you would find snow piles in the north. Even found two whole, good-sized sand dollars! We walked all the way down to the end of the beach and back just looking around in the water and that was super fun and made the time fly by. At the end of the beach there’s some woody parts that are fun to look at and previous visitors have kind of decorated them with shells and I thought that was neat. I took a lot of pictures of the water because the colors were just break taking and so defined. You can also see Sanibel Island and the bridge over it from Lovers Key, just a lot of great views. There’s an option to rent kayaks and paddle boards and go along the mangroves which I’d like to come back and do at some point. They have bathrooms and rinse stations, and a small restaurant right on the beach as well, which a lot of SPs don’t and it’s nice to have everything you need yet it still feels mostly untouched by humans and it’s so quiet compared to other beaches. Love love love!!!
Beautiful beaches, lots of white sand and great shelling. Bike/hiking trails were fun and well maintained.
Very nice beach. Friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. Family friendly. Will not allow loud music. This is a state park so you will have to pay an admission and they police the beach for adult beverages.
My best vacation ever. Beautiful views with plenty of marine life you can watch from the balcony. Manatees, huge fish, dolphins and plenty of beautiful birds. You have your own private beach for the ones whom love their privacy and I look forward to coming back to this beautiful area!
Overal positive experience :Beach, not overly crowded.. .shuttle service available to and from parking lot. Bathrooms and small cafe near parking lot as well as at beach. Umbrellas & chairs available for rent at beach. Long stretch of beach with plenty of room. Water clean, dolphins, small fish and crabs as well as an assortment of seashells on beach.Things to be mindful of: Be careful with young children as we found a number of bottle tops in sand on beach and there were several people fishing just 20ft. Into water off beach (possible fishing hooks?) Also, even though signs were posted (in English only) there were many Spanish speaking people with glass bottles on beach and in water.
Its aight. Water is not crystal clear. Views arent bad. Parking is limited but I had no problems finding a spot. Want sure if I needed to pay for parking because I didnt see anyone else paying for parking, but theres a sign that gives instructions on how to pay by phone and they have envelopes to drop payment in and leave the stub in the car.? Like I said people just walked right in, but I had no problem paying the $4. If you have a small boat or jet ski this is a good spot, or if you just want to chill or read a book.
One of the loveliest beaches Ive ever experienced, including Hawaii.
This is one of the true hidden gems of Southwest Florida. So much to see and do here. Theres a wonderful kayaking loop that whines through the mangroves, approximately 2 miles long. You can also take the Wilmington bridge approximately a quarter of a mile from the parking lot out to the powder white sandy beaches. Weekdays are definitely less crowded during the summer.
Great place to go to the beach, go for a walk, rent kayaks, etc.Our normal run is to hit up Heavenly Biscuit for breakfast on FMB then head to Lovers Key for a few hours in the sun.Theres a place you can buy souvenirs and drinks and rent equipment like kayaks.Theres a tram that will take you to the beach, as the walk is kind of far.Overall a really great park!
Had a great time kayaking at the park. We saw many beautiful birds including these roseate spoonbills.
In love with Lovers Key! One of my favorite Florida State Parks to date! I love having the option of taking a tram to south beach or walking the cool path to middle beach. We also rented kayaks for a few hours and were able to spot a couple manatees. Canoe and bike rentals are available, as well as a bike and hiking trail. We spotted some people fishing along the way and cant wait to do a little of that there myself. Plenty of beautiful wildlife and the beach was clean with plenty of room for the Memorial Day crowd. So happy to have found this little slice of paradise!
The water is beautiful! This is my new preferred beach. $4 per car for the day! Great deal. It is a bit of a walk to the beach but, they do have shuttles.
It was pretty cool, free tram so you dont have to schlep your stuff for miles.Beautiful, sugary beach.Kayaking/ paddleboarding areas.
This is one of my favorite beaches in the world. Its quiet, always clean and the Park is beautiful with lots to do like kayaking, etc...
Simply Gorgeous! This is definitely a hidden gem of a beach!Peak hours here are between 10am to 3pm. If you can wait for a few hours to experience serenity and calming waters, this is the place for you....
Great place to watch the sun set over the Gulf with inexpensive parking. The walk to the beach is a little longer than usual, but worth every step.
Always fun! Moderate number of people on the beach. NOT BIG CROWDS. Clean and has bathrooms & outdoor shower to remove sand & shells. TRAM from parking lot to beach.
A beautiful peaceful walk.I would go on a day where theres some cloud coverage as it can get hot and very muggy. But definitely worth the views and 8$ car fee.
We didnt get to spend a lot of time here with this visit due to weather. The park seems nice and they have a nice tram service that brings you to the beaches. There are also bathrooms, a gift shop and I have read about snack shack. The beaches are nice for sea shelling and so so for castle building. We will have to come back on a nicer day.
Super clean and natural secluded beach spot. Sand is powdery. Theres even a little tram here that takes you from the parking lot to the actual beach. The hiking trails are a nice length and take you through a lot of nice looking estuary spots.
Beautiful beach! Theres a small beach access fee but so worth it. There are less people and boats/jet skis not buzzing around leaving gas fumes. Waves are calm, water feels fabulous. You can take an easy dip or just let your body relax and float.
First time here, beautiful beach. Limited parking, be sure to take the tram. Last one from beach to parking lot is at 4:45p. Otherwise its a 0.5 mile walk.
Beautiful location between 2 largely developed areas. Nice to see that Florida protects areas like these for the wildlife and still has an area for visitors. Tip: if you arrive before 10 a.m. the trolley doesn’t run and you will have to walk to the south beach area of the park. Or, you can walk across the footbridge and proceed straight to the beach. This area of the beach does not offer any services so it is sometimes less crowded. I walked all the way to the south beach as I am an avid sheller and was looking for treasures! The South beach area has restrooms, rentals and showers as well as a snack vendor. Very well cared for facilities and friendly staff. The gift shop has many fun things to purchase for gifts or to buy those beach items you may have forgotten.
The beach and fishing spots are amazing. If you get there early enough you will get a great spot.
We have been in the mid of October. Water was way clearer than on Sanibel Island. And no sting rays!
Friendly and helpful staff. Made sure we were comfortable with what we were doing (Kayaking) Saw some beautiful wildlife and had a close encounter with a Manatee.
Only give it 3 stars because of what we call in Cuba jejenes (tiny mosquito-like bug, only translation I found was sand fly but not sure if thats correct). Anyways our fault we didnt bring repellent since being a natural area bugs are to be expected. Im sure Id rate it higher if had seen other parts other than the main beach which the sand wasnt great but water was indeed clearer than Ft Myers Beach public beach for instance. Nice place overall just dont forget the repellent and make time to walk the beach and numerous trails.
Terrific place to paddle! Nice kayak/canoe/paddleboard trail.
Huge Beautiful beach, Plenty of shells to find. Tram if you don’t feel like walking with your beach gear. Lots of parking.
Great beach and Wildlife. Can be crowded at times.
It takes a long time to get into the park. We were probably the 8th car in line, but it took over 30 minutes to get through. But once you get in and park, the beach is absolutely breathtaking. The water is warm and aqua green. There are what looks like little minnows swimming close to shore and other larger fish occasionally.
Clean water, great people ( a couple of mean folks but you expect that nowadays ), lots of friendly puppies ( 1 or 2 aggressive dogs but overall playful ). I drive 4 hours round trip to come here ... totally worth it.
Lovers Key, where oh where do I began? For the experience Id arrive early, park opens at 8:00AM.Its $8.00 to get in, exact change is appreciated & moves along the line. After parking, you will have to walk a little ways before getting to the beach, about a quarter mile?! Dont quote me, its not long at all.Once your feet hit the white sparkling sand, youll forever forget about the walk Lovers Key is open until sunset. They provide rentals of all kinds and concession stands as well as a bait shop. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
There’s a little fee to get in but totally worth it. The beaches were clean. You’re able to take a tram ride to the beach, or walk. They also have canoeing and paddle boarding available, where you might see manatees and alligators. There are small trails to walk on and explore. We saw lots of wildlife! Definitely would want to come back and explore different areas that we didn’t get to see at this park.
This place is heaven on earth the staff is great and its a short drive to sanibel island. If you go here you need to stop by the bubble room in Captiva island also scrumptious diner(about a 5 minute drive) is the best restaurant Ive eaten at in the 30 years Ive been on this planet.
Check out this wonder. The trails magnificent and the beaches wonderful. The wildlife youll see makes the trip totally worth the price of admission. We took the tram to the furthest part of the beach and walked the shoreline back. The shells were plentiful. The attention to detail with all the signed information about what youll see during your adventure impressive. We found the restrooms clean and well stocked. Our only negative was the lack of parking near the beach area and the long walk from the secondary parking.
Great little roadside Park with a playground for the kids currently closed due to covid restrictions . 3 pokestops and a gym for Pokemon go and Castle and 2 inns for Wizards unite !!
This is a great beach. You can find some nice shells. The water is nicer than the northern beaches. After you park your car youll have to take a tram to the beach, or your can walk to the closer one.Its very secluded. There are very few amenities. There used to be a little food shop, but we got there late and didnt look for it.
This beach is beautiful! Water is warm and clear! My family had an amazing time swimming and relaxing on the beach. We will definately be returning to this beach on our next trip to Florida. We also did the self guided kayak tour. Staff was great and very informative. We saw dolphins while we were kayaking near the inlet.
Had a great time here. Nice beach. Rented a kayak, got to pet some manatees. It was awesome.
Beautiful location! Staff is beyond helpful and the prices are very good. The view is amazing; I highly recommend renting or taking your own kayak. The beach is very clean and relaxing. Food items sell out very quickly by the beach area;therefore, I would recommend to bring your own snacks. Overall, the park is amazing!
It was so beautiful. Got to witness a wedding while floating in the ocean.
It is very beautiful and romantic here! There is a tram that drives you from the parking lot, to the beach. There is also WiFi at the beach beautiful place and beach, you find a lot of shells there. Very good place to relax!
Very cool place to visit and see some great birds and wildlife. 8US dollars for admission and tons of parking available. Free trolley to and from the beach and parking lot. Free WIFI also. You can rent kayaks and paddle through the mangroves to see Manatees and other fish. Lots of lookouts and boardwalks to walk through the huge mangroves. A great day trip place to visit!
Went through state park admissions, lots of parking $8/person for admission restrooms, tram if you need it, and concession stand (closed when we there because it was later) half priced admission if you go an hour before closing. Beautiful white sand beach with a ton of shells. Gorgeous sunset. We went off season towards end of November so it wasnt at all crowded.
Very nice beach to spend the day with your family. Its a quite a calm place. The water is clear with a lot little fish . Great place for fishing and hiking. You can get there via boat and even via jet ski. The kids really loved coming here because there is just so much to do. The sand is mostly clean and the water was crystal clear. You can also fish from the bridge or just set up right on the beach. I highly recommend this place and cant wait to go back.
Terrific place for a day visit to either hit the beach (it was Veterans Day weekend 2018 & the place was hoppin’ & admission was FREE!) or walk the trails, where signage informs visitors about the flora & fauna of the four island ‘keys’ that make up this lovely place. Kayaking is available here as well, along with picnicking facilities. It’s a real gem! Another interesting facet was seeing more gopher tortoises than I’ve ever seen anywhere!
Great spot to beach the boat and hang out in the water. Boat ramp is easily accessed and in great condition.
The Park is big. So we did not have enough time to see everything. But we parked and toke the shuttle to the beach. So beautiful place. We enjoyed a lot. It is a nice place to visit with the family.
My new favorite beach. 4 dollars for parking if you are single person in the car. Absolutely stunning areas to walk and discover. Everything you need is there as well.
Beautiful place. Visited again after about 4 years and got absolutely wrecked by midges. Bring repellent or find out about floridas notorious noseeums.
Beautiful sunset about a month ago. Saw jelly fish for first time with out stepping on it
Florida State Parks do an amazing job keeping their parks clean and beaches accessible. They offer a tram ride to the beach as it is a bit of a beautiful walk. The beach has a broad wide section with lots of room to spread out and a fantastic beachfront to walk the length to the pass. Great for spotting wildlife and splashing in the waves!
Beautiful day at the park, would love to come here everytime I visit!
Its quite beautiful and peaceful. Tons of small animals around dusk moving around.
Nice beach..about 1/4 mile walk to rhe beach but they have a trolley to take you. This is a State park so you have to pay 8$ to park but worrh it
Perfect place for quiet time on the beach. Eight dollars to get in and enjoy a crowd free time in the sand! Great experience! For more inspiration on vacation and travel ideas check us out on Instagram.@thetaleofusx6@floridavacationmagic
Very quiet spot to relax in the sand. When you park, make your way to the entrance and grab the blue envelope and for the entrance fee (Its $2.00 per person). From there you go to the right and walk on to the sand. Enjoy!!
Awesome park. Turquoise water, bath warm in summer time. not a lot of people. My favorite beach in Florida
Dog park was a great place to visit. Was fun watching the different breeds playin together..
Nice to visit. South side has the dog park at the water entrance
Spent the afternoon on Lovers Key. Hoping to photograph an eagle. Did get some pics of Gopher Tortoises. Great place to stroll on the trails or the beach. Take the tram or walk across the boardwalk to get to white sandy beaches. Not very crowded for the minimal fee to get to this State Park.
This is by far one of the most amazing beaches that I have been to in a long time. With a gorgeous white sandy beach, not too many shells to hurt your feet, makes this speech a great one to spend some time on. They offer a variety of water sports at nearby fenders and the hotel offers umbrella and chair set up at no additional charge. We had a fantastic afternoon enjoying the Sunshine from our own personal umbrella and chair set up. A short walk distance away is a bar where you can get some drinks and charge it to your room and enjoy the cocktails at your chairs. The water is very clean and even in times when the red tide pushes in it is still quite nice in this area. The sunsets are absolutely Spectacular from here and we cannot wait to go back. We highly recommend it and think you will love it just as much.
Beautiful beach.Hurricane Charlies worker more than happy to bring your chairs and umbrella down to the beach for you.Tram ride is a no brainer.Leave the car,hop on the tram and your driven right to the beach.
A great place to relax and see dolphins. The family and I have been going here for several years and I highly recommend it.
Always a wonderful time! Great friendly rangers and safe family fun!
Beautiful beaches. I highly recommend
This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area in my opinion. Crystal clear waters and beautiful private spots to enjoy. When I lived here before you could only get to this beach by boat or kayak but now there are walking paths and bridges and even a trolley to assist getting you and your gear from the parking area to the beach. I highly recommend a visit to this beach if in the area!
Not too crowded. Good beach. Some nice shells.
My favorite place to go. Beautiful water, perfect sand, best sunsets!
Great State Park they have kayak rentals. There are places to picnic. Good fishing in the area. They have several Nature trails to hike. There are several geocaches in the Park. The Rangers are nice and very informative. Thy have a beach for swimming too
Beautiful park with great trails. We saw several tortoises and the beach was gorgeous.
Awesome place! I love it! Beach was beautiful
The beach was very nice. The water felt great and was clean. We took a trolly to the beach but had to walk the mile back because of how late we went. Theres also alot of places to park.
It’s my favorite place to be alone enjoying the place taking some pictures
Beautiful place to go relax by the shore! Was $8 to park and well worth it for the lovely beach! Far less crowded space, lots of recycling bins, and even a few spots to tuck under for shade! New favorite beach spot for wifey and I!
Love all of the great to watch Bird,Dolphins, listen to waves roll in .
It was beautiful the water was perfect the atmosphere was great I got 2 keeper Spanish makral by 10:am.. good day good day..
$3 per person. One of the best beaches in the area to relax and enjoy without too many people usually.
I prefer this beach because it is normally, not as crowded. You have a large bit of beach to go up and down so if you prefer to be further from others, that is always an option. They have chairs, umbrellas and all kinds of things at the beach so you can get what you need when you are there, including towels and stuff at the gift shop before you go over the bridge to the beach. Only downer is there is parking charges ($4 a person) so have that ready (I hate paying parking but I know it goes to keep the place clean and beautiful, so I dont mind in the end and keep the 5 stars).
Beautiful beach and warm water. Just lovely.
Great beach area! Not crowded and plenty of space to not be on top of anyone else. Nice white sandy beach..medium wave / undertow warning on our visit, but we were 50 yds or so from the surfline and had no problems. Easy parking for $8 for a carload and Bonita Springs is a beautiful area to visit and dine also!!
Took a day long pontoon boat trip from Ft Myers and made it out to Lovers Key in about 90 minutes! Beautiful trip, saw lots of dolphins and some gorgeous homes along the way! Enjoyable way to see more of the Florida wildlife, soak up the sun and relax for awhile as you cruise along!
Got there by 9 a.m. and parking lot was packed by 10. I paid $4 because I was solo. Beautiful beach. Bring umbrellas and chairs and coolers. Lots of sea shells to sift through. Water was nice and almost smooth. Free tram from the lot to the beach or you can walk 1000 ft to the beach. There is a small snack bar that sells $6 burgers or $5 hot dogs, very tasty.
Great place if you want more privacy at the beach.
Beautiful beach nice fishing this is one of my favorite places in Florida .
