Depending on the time of year this location has a lot to offer. There is no boat launch here though. This place does have: camping, beach with lifeguards during the summer and picnic areas. The parking lot is big but get there early because it will get packed and sometimes they will close the park because its too packed. Great place to send yourself and people watch.
Had a baby shower here. The space we had was great and allowed us to have safe distance with everyone due to COVID. This is a very beautiful park. The only bummer was the lake is nearly drained so we couldnt go swimming.
We always fun at Folsom Lake. Some areas of the lake offer rentals of all kinds, such as boats, jet skis, kayaks and body boards to name a few. There is a concession stand at the Folsom Blvd entrance also. Before going swimming, just check around to see which is the best place at that time of year. We were at Oak Beach yesterday, and the water was very muddy due to all of the water activity. We immediately noticed our clothes were stained when we got out of the water. It came out after several soaks, but I would wear something dark colored just in case. There are so many different places around the lake to explore, hike, swim or boat. Its a great place for the family and friends to have a great time.
If you havent ridden any of the trails at Granite Beach/Folsom Lake SRA, we highly recommend it! There is a wide variety of trail types and difficulty... truly something for everyone.Sadly it was pretty smokey, so we had to cut it short. Definitely could spend some more time here!
Great place for camping, fishing, boating.Great place to spend time with friends and family. I have been coming here since I moved to Sacramento, almost 4 years now. It feels comfortable, relaxing and the check in was easy and without hassle. I have found some great hidden spots here :)
Good place to go hiking. Not a lot of people. Pretty quiet which I like. Good view of the lake.
Found the perfect area to pull up close to the water with a soft/easy to walk on surface. Water was perfect
Love lake days with the family, we usually stay until sunset in the summer, its big so there is a lot of locations.
All around Folsom Lake is awesome. If you want to go to the cool part of Granite Bay you have to go on a weekday. Once you get to that gate on the weekend it will be open on the weekdays. In the peninsula Campground it is really great when the water is very very full like is right now in June of 2019. The water was right up to our campsite it is campsite number 35 one of the best ones if you want to be by the water.
There is great parking here and many nice places to set up! The water is really clean and shallow as you go in so you can find great spots for kids to play. We brought sandwiches and chairs and easily set up at a shady place at the shoreline, very fun day!
Very nice lake for relaxing and swimming. I personally have not fished much at this lake but I have heard that fishing is great.
It was so much fun getting on a boat with friends. We went around the lake, had a picnic, and went tubing. It was crowded, but the lake is so big everybody is all spread out. The water was perfect. Warm to swim, but cool for the hot day. Super fun place to hang out.
My home State park has many trails. I feel very safe with the rangers and life guards out there. I deducted for, I wish they would open two lines on busy days...one for pass holders and one for daily payers.
Beautiful, not to crowded except very specific holidays/times. Boating is fantastic, travel up the arms of the river for smoother water, ooen middle can get windy and choppy. Recommend getting the annual pass, it works at a number of parks around the state and if you go even some what often will safe you money!
Pretty barren, not the best place for a hike. Good for bike riding and taking a dog down to the water.
This lake by far is our favorite. We easily found an area to set up and enjoyed the space with our family. Quiet location to hang out. We noticed people fishing which is definitely something we will be hauling on our next visit.
Lots of fun. Just dont do donuts in front of the park rangers they dont like that apparently.. speaking from experiance.
Great place to take the kids and swim. We went to the Beales Point day use and other than the fact that you have a looooooong walk from the car to the water its worth it!
Went camping at the peninsula campground. Love how it is right by the lake. It is so peaceful and calming.
Nice warm water great view not crowded. The water is shallow...
I dont know all the amenities, but seen scattered picnic tables and restrooms are accessible. This was perfect for my younger grandchildren and their parents. It wasnt all packed with people. We put up our own shaded covering, brought chairs & icechest. They were all together in the water and enjoyed themselves while cooling off.
Wonderful place to spend your weekend at, plenty of spaces to park and set up for a day to bbq, relax, get in the water. People were keeping their distance and happy to be there
Pics out at Dotons Point. Beautiful, and you can drive right down to your spot if you have the right vehicle.
Not really a beach when the water is so low. Water smells bad. Probably better for boats and jet skis. Havent explored the biking yet.
Such a nice place to go out and chill! There are some grills there if you dont want to take your own, just have to be there early. But even a small picnic is good just to spend the day and swim a little.
This place is breathtaking to me atleast as a tourist. I would love to come back and camp in the near future.
Im here almost every weekend. Always a good time.
Great place to take the kids for a day of fun in the sun. The lake is huge so very easy to social distance!
Great lake place to take our boat out. Clear waters and lots of spots to relax and enjoy the lake.
A quick visit, a stroll on a path, and some conversation with loved one in the warmth of the afternoon is always available at Folsom Lake
If you have a boat but havent launch one much before try this place. The launch ramps are huge & as long as you dont go on peak times its great to launch from. Theres tons of beach areas all around as well both by car/truck & by boat. This is a great lake to visit.
I loved swimming here! The water was so clear and the water wasnt so cold as other lakes close by here. Perfect for family picnics.
Very fun end of summer dont bring a boat or Jet Ski.
Beautiful location for fun with friends and family. There are so many different places you can go to find the type of atmosphere you want. Some of the boat launch locations close early so be prepared for that if it is after 12.
The water was nice. No barbecue by water. You can barbecue where the tables are above. You can have a canopy and ice chest by water. Had alot of fun. 12.00 parking
Biggie the Bigfoot has been traveling around northern California with us and we all loved this recreation center. Clean and beautiful a hidden gem we werent heading there but its now on our must visit itinerary!
I dont know what it is, but the sunsets here are the best!
A great place to hang around on a hot day. Soak your feet in the water, go for a swim or just float and cool off.
$12 entry into park but worth it. You can use one of the parking lots or you can drive right up to the water and park on the beach. Water felt great.
Fantastic place for adventure, walks, biking, horse back riding, swimming, boating, fishing and more. I love to take my dog here for a fun walk and swim. A lot of space to explore.
Maybe if you come in cooler weather its more inviting and fun. The bare expanse reminded me of a post apocalypse world that I was trying to escape.
Water was great and lots of fun.. You need to go early because the whole beach line was packed with people.. Hard to find a spot unless you dont mind parking in the lots and walking to the beach or shoreline.. Bring a canopy to set up and claim your spot..
Love this lake and have been enjoying it over 40 years. Great place to take the family or dog to, fishing, boating, biking, camping, etc...
Always fun at the lake. Even on hot days. Plenty of camping. Wonderful staff. Only drawback can be other visitors. But theyre everywhere.
Great Lake awesome fun. You have to get there super early to grante a good piknik table. The keepers are always coming by collecting trash and offering bags. Control the crowd so its never to full. Close to civilization so easy to buy something you forgot.
Great location for hiking. Also good with kids. We will come back.
It’s a beautiful place for an outing. There is ample space for parking. This has great views and one of the landmarks of Folsom city. I like walking near the lake during evenings
Loved it! great place to bring you jet skies
Decent mountain biking that’s close if you live in the area. Can get very busy in weekends though so go midweek if you want to avoid the crowds. Lake is good for water sports and boating as well, just be conscious of rocks if the water level is low.
It was a super fun day! Easy to get to and plenty of water and sun! This place fills up quickly and can get very crowded. Come early.
Although the water is low, this is to be expected this time of the year. This area is a ton of fun, and is great for swimming, boating or just hanging out cooking some steaks on a bbq. Check it out.
Charge people way to much to enjoy something that should be free
Beautiful, and the water feels amazing in the summer! Pretty crowded earlier in the day on weekends, some parts of the beach are very rocky (water shoes are a must!), and certain areas are very difficult to access without 4 wheel drive. But those are all minor inconveniences. Surprisingly very clean, especially given the number of people in the area.
Folsom lake is a great place for hole family! You need to pay $12 entry fees for one vehicle and you can be there all day long or leave and come back later the same day. You can choose what you like more nice and clean parking and sandy beach with the restrooms or you can go farther and drive off-road and get a spot right next to the water without leaving your car on the parking, so it’ll be right next to you, which is way easier if you have a lot of stuff, or small kids... we love this place!
Nice clean park by the water. High water level this year brought the lake right up to the picnic area. Had a great relaxed day. Even though sir said no dogs allowed there were lots of dogs around. So bring Fido!
I love Folsom Lake. I have lived by the lake for 55 years. Beautiful trails. Lots of wildlife. A great place for a picnic. Just please remember what you pack in you pack out.
I love you can back your truck up to the water.
Folsom lake is a beautiful lake with nice beaches and is clean. They mark off areas that are dangerous nice place to spend the day
Nice quiet little park. If you keep walking to the end you will see those bluebonnets. Love it. Some people fishing, and boating there.
Great Place.Absolutely it is mind refreshing recreation place. I have been there with family and we enjoyed lots. We are passing through COVID 19 depressing time, visiting such a place is remedy. Blesses...
Its good place. Just gets packed quick. Gotta get there early for good spot.
Folsom Lake its a beautiful place, right after my almost 9th hour shift I headed there and its simply an amazing place to chill!!!
Live nearby, so I come to the lake often with my dogs. You can take them off leash in the area surrounding the lake. Also a great place to camp.
I recommend bringing a E-Z Up or some sort of shade if youre going to the beach. Also bring a blanket and a couple of chairs Theres plenty of room to set up an area for your family.. they have restrooms and food for sale hot dogs corn dogs buffalo wings drinks, no alcohol. I brought my own BBQ Pit . On the lake theres an area for you and the kids to swim and play thats roped off. My six-year-old daughter is able to stand up for quite a ways before it starts getting deep. Bring floaties for water play, they also have kayaks in some flotation devices for rent .I would have gave another star but but the walk from the parking lot to the beach as a couple hundred yards. Overall we had a great time on a budget
I like to stop here on the way to work when the sunrise is beautiful. You never know what you may capture. For me it was a pair of eagles.
Super flowy trails and expansive hiking next to a beautiful beach
Love this place. Water is very nice. Would recommend this place to you
Today is Wednesday, May 1st. 2019. The weather is pleasant, air and water temperature is really nice, wind is fresh and good enough to swim. If I took my swimming shorts and towel i would swim. I realy enjoyed this time.
Very pretty just wish they had a number/website to call for information
Beautiful. Windy today but it was a nice place. Clean restrooms, water clean, snack bar/store was open. Very nice family oriented.
Beautiful place to visit... You can swim, relax on the beach, hike around the lake, have a family gathering, etc. In the summer the have a snack bar and there are several restrooms. They have several picnic areas as well with BBQ pits. It can get very windy here though and sometimes the lake gets really low but is still a beautiful place to come enjoy whether in solitude or with a group. Watch out for the squirrels though they steal everything!
Great place to go on a boat/jetski. Water was low, so be sure to check the water level, as it could get crowded with boats if the water is low. Water was warmer than lake Natoma. It was 78 degrees at end of August. Not sure on other times of the year.
Always a beautiful walk to where we go and lay out. Pretty private, my dogs love it.1
Great place, food floats and tubes available for purchase and some rentalsm
Beautiful lake view, beautiful trees and damn. You will enjoy its quiet environment, you can swim, jet ski and boating. You can grill and barbecue.
It is a friendly environment to be around with plenty of room for boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming,or just floating around on floating devices. It is also family & pet friendly.
An awesome get away into a fresh water soothing lake! This place is excellent to barbecue, and take a relaxing day swimming and sun bathing!
A place to apend some time reading book.
Nice campground, especially during off season. It was quiet and not crowded at all. Also the campground was clean and the new camp hosts are friendly and helpful.
Great place to jetski, bike ride, picnic with family, hike, swim..
I am 1 mile from rattle snake bar boat launch so it makes it really easy to go get a ski run in before starting the day. The water is perfect this year. Not to cold but the best part, its not warm water. Usually is this time of year and its so low you cannot launch at rattlesnake bar. So enjoy it while we can. I know we are still and wont put the boat away til Oct this year.
Went out yesterday just for a little while. It was nice to have a couple areas to choose from to park and chill. Love it out there.
This lake awesome, my family loved it here. Perfect water temperature, its amazing
Beautiful.lots of space but you have to pick the right area in order to enjoy the water because the shores arent comfortable in some areas.
Great place for family fun! We always enjoy the scenery, warm water and waves.
An easy enough hike on a well worn trail. There is plenty of shade which is great if youre hiking later in the day. There are plenty of chances to view the water, but its just about the same view all around.
Beals point is the spot at Folsom Lake we went to and it was ok. The water is a great temperature, just cool enough to get relief from the heat but not so freezing cold. Decent amount of beach area and just a short walk down to the water from the parking lot. There is a campground there as well that Ive stayed at which is ok as well. Folsom blvd is right next to the camp sites but hey, youre still camping right? Its a short drive from where I live so Im there often, paddle boarding, fishing or just hanging out.
So relaxing and great time with ur family and friends and u can park by the water
Great camping sites, boat ramps convenient parking spots.
