Ive gone biking up these bluffs dozens of times. Always super pretty. One of my favorite downhills if youre on a mountain bike. Really enjoyable short hike with potential so see Bald Eagles too
This is a great place for a spectacular view or a challenging hike/run. From the parking area there are many routes to take for easy walks, to difficult and hilly trail runs. All of these start with a rather steep decline and finish with a steep climb back to the parking lot.Pros:- Great view of Nimbus Dam & Nimbus Flat Recreation Area- Elevated view for a nice sunrise- Many paths to take, once you get down the hill- Access to the American River Bike Trail- Access to the river side of Mississippi Bar- Challenging hill trails for hikes or runs- Lots of cover to shade those summer walks- Plenty of parking available- Easy to access from Highway 50Cons:- Parking is not free. Self pay $5 each time, or get a Sac County Park Pass for $50 a year.- Steep decline from the parking lots to the trails. My picture of the park marker has some Japanese graffiti on it that says King Wolf. I thought it was funny because I spent some time in Japan and on the rare occasion I saw graffiti there it was typically in English. It was funny to see the tables turned here.
At first glance it looks like you cant go anywhere, but if you look around there are trails you can take down. Scenery is beautiful and theres plenty to explore out here. You could easily come out here every day for a week, be out all day, and still not see everything.
The Park Service ruined this place. All this place is is a parking lot with views of the river, NimbusDam and surrounding areas. Up until the past few years you could drive over to this parking lot and take a break for a few minutes to enjoy the scenery and perhaps take a short hike. But the greedy government got involved and now it costs $10.00 just to park there. $10.00. There are no camping spots or access to the river. There arent even any benches or barbecue grills. Theres nothing the state even has to maintain. Its just a parking lot lookout point--period. But the greedy Park Service said, hey, we can make money there and give out citations as well, so now it costs $10.00 self-registration even if you just want to stay for a little while. Thanks but no thanks.
Its always relaxing to come here. Nice clear, cold water. The people in watercraft can be very entertaining. Saw several sailboats overturn today. But the sailors righted them quickly.
Had a great hike with my Bestie, got to see a baby deer! And so many birds. Awesome time!
Beautiful view.
Beautiful view. Sometimes, I park here to eat lunch and relax
One of the best views around. 360 degree beautiful. Looking down on the river and the dam. Overlooks Folsom rancho gold River
River is blocked by a tall fence.
Nice views of the lake, damn, river and the surrounding area in the distance. Would be nice if they installed a new fence and put more seating/picnic area.
Beautiful place. Not enough bbqs and bathrooms need to be cleaned more.
Beautiful this time of year and a good place to start your hike.
A great relaxing place to walk around and take in the scenery
A great place to take in the view.
Meh
Get out and look around. The cyclone fence is kinda gross but if you can look past that its a fine spot.
Beautiful view.. why does it cost 10$ to park:(
Neat place!
Really nice chill spot
