This is one of our favorite local “staycations”! This was a quick trip on a holiday weekend and the place was packed. Completely booked all 3 nights. Even with a 100% capacity and what looked like 3, maybe 4 wedding parties it was still a great time. With the pool, hot tub and grounds there’s always plenty of room to get away or socially distance. The staff was great, room was clean and the property well taken care of! The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars on this trip is the view from this second floor window was horrible! I don’t know how many times I went to the window to see the pool / outside only to be seeing the very unpleasant room top. We’ve always stayed on the top floor (with the concierge service - HIGHLY RECOMMEND this when it’s offered again) so I guess we took the view for granted. I will definitely make sure to inquire about the view next time before booking. Other than that it’s so worth the trip!!
The lobby, rooms, and everything else are Beautiful, classy, and elegant. The spa is simply amazing! Our massages were well worth the price and we felt so relaxed for the rest of the day. I ordered the Angus Filet for dinner, medium rare, and Ive never had a steak this good in my life.. highly recommend for any weekend getaway!
Love this place! Full of history. A lot of grounds to walk and explore. Walking distance to great restaurants. 10 ft pool and a giant hot tub. Always my choice of stay whether I’m on a business trip or just leisure.
Fantastic stay at The Elms this weekend! Great laid back place ; someone else said it best that it has a Dirty Dancing vibe. Hotel is beautiful and open with old tile and stone. Rooms are spacious, clean, and beds so comfy after a night in the lounge, the grounds, or the pool. The pool is where the action is on a sunny Sunday. Best stay is to stay at the hotel and enjoy the amenities.
I cannot say enough great things about the property. The food at 88 was delicious as well as their cocktails. The building is full of historical charm and my husband and I enjoyed the intimate setting of this property. We visited the Spa, swam in the lap pool, walked the grounds, and took the paranormal tour. While this hotel has smaller rooms and a tiny elevator, we were able to appreciate the history of the buildings original design. The staff was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting with the Manager. There are also multiple restaurants and activities within walking distance. I would highly recommended this hotel for a long romantic weekend or anyone looking to relax and learn some history. Our stay here exceeded my expectations and was a welcoming surprise.
I booked online for myself and a couple friends. I was initially pretty upset at the cost being twice as much as any modern hotel in the area. What really made me mad was apparently anyone can call the hotel and change your reservation with out approval from the person whos name and card is on the room. This happened to me when a member of my party changed the room type, and extended dates. The hotel made the reservation changes and I didnt know until I had email saying there were changes. By that point I couldnt retract the changes.Aside from terrible reservation management. The rooms were fairly small and clearly old. Maybe I just dont like historical buildings, but this hotel is very over priced for mediocre, old rooms. The hot tub was nice though
Wonderful grounds, Pool Bar for lunch was awesome. Dinner at 88 fabulous! Lap Pool great workout then the hot tub to limber up. Cafe for breakfast Bacon egg and cheese croissant, berry tart and blueberry muffin with a fresh made cappuccino. They have their own herb garden. A completely relaxing experience. The Staff is absolutely all about their guests!!!!
Wow! We didn’t even know what a gem we had so close to KC! We went to the Elms Hotel and Spa for our second wedding anniversary to get away for a day and relax. Our stay was perfect and we both feel so rejuvenated! The rooms themselves were clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. The staff was very cordial and the customer service was outstanding! The 88 restaurant had great food and cocktails; they must have quite an outstanding chef there as well. The hot tubs and pools were clean, relaxing, and the surrounding architecture is beautiful!! There is also a courtyard with a gazebo which is stunning as well. Don’t even get me started on our experience at the spa—it was awesome. We got to spend two hours in the grotto which included a separate underground hot tub, sauna, 2 steam rooms, and a cold plunge shower. The massages we had were amazing and the masseuses were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had such a great time and it felt like a mini vacation which was exactly what we needed!!
Great hidden gem. We love taking short stays at this place. Close to home and reasonably priced. Love the old school feel. The rooms are up to date, comfortable and well done. Service in the restaurant can be slow and you need to book ahead of time. The food is very good and the restaurant itself is very cool with murals and furnishings harkening back to the hay days of presidential and mobster patronage. The outdoor pool is pretty cool and the grounds are good for a evening stroll . The indoor pool is ultracool and the spa is first rate. I’m torn about talking the place up too much, because I don’t want the secret out.
Room was fantastic. Spa was nice. Pools were great. I took 2 stars off for service. We were not able to get a table at the restaurant and took 15min just to be greeted and then turned away. Then had the same experience at the tavern. Then tried calling for room service and nobody answered the phone. We gave up and ended up leaving the hotel to go to a local eatery. We drove a really long way just to get snubbed multiple times. Will visit again, but next time ensure we make reservations well in advance. And the ghost tour is highly recommended!
Not just a destination for out-of-towners or weddings. Locals should enjoy this treasure more often.Since the holiday order is non-traditional this year, we decided to entertain ourselves for Thanksgiving dinner at The 88. What a treat! Great food and service.
We had a great time! Friendly staff. All current COVID-19 precautions were observed.
This was our second time visiting. First time was quite and uncrowded. This time we a lot busier but the staff was very accommodating. We were their for our anniversary and they upgraded us to a King suite room on the top floor without even being asked! Definitely would recommend for anyone seeking a relaxing time without the b&b lace doily feel.
10/10 would recommend. Austin Hunter and his staff here are exactly what you would expect at a hotel and spa of this caliber. We felt that we were at a resort the way we were treated and the fact that we didnt need to leave the grounds. Just a short drive from KC, allowed us to unplug, enjoy the spa and relax. Martin and his staff in the restaurant took exceptional care of us so much as to remember us when catching us in the hallway or around the pool. Highly recommend taking some time for the spa. We all had great massages and the time in the Grotto is so relaxing. If you have not done a relaxing stay cation here you are defiantly missing out.
Toilet paper behind the curtains. Heater didnt work properly. Called desk. Did someone would be up to look at it. We left at check out. Nobody showed up. Elevator didnt work. Had to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Light bulb in bathroom was held in by aluminum foil and fell out in sink. Shower heads were mounted almost to ceiling. Hot water ran out. It might have been a great hotel at one point but it did not live up to my expectations. Staff at night was super friendly and accommodating. They are the only reason we didnt leave and ask for refund to go somewhere else.
We like a lot eating out. Last night we visited this delicious restaurant which friends recommended to us. We had a beautiful experience there with great dishes and a well-trained crew and an impressive chief cook. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we will no doubt go again soon. We highly recommend.
Wonderful place to unwind, relax and have some drinks. The Grotto was awesome, I fell asleep so relaxed in there after my couples massage with my wife. Plus, there are fun restaurants, diners and breweries in this quaint little town. Definitely will be back!!!
The grounds are incredible, just a beautiful estate. The spa is wonderful, we got all the treatments. My neck and back havent felt this good in a couple years. The ambiance, attention to detail and all the little things make this place the hidden gem it is!
So fun! We will be back. Watch out for xtra fees on your receipt. Great 6ft hot tub and alot of EMF while ghost hunting
High quality everything.Stayed in a comfortable bed, a cute hotel overall with cool features. Loved the pool and hot tub, and the steaks at the restaurant were cooked perfectly. I recommend the fried tomatoes appetizer. Got a massage at the spa, it was very nice! Customer service was A+!
Had a great time. The grotto was a great experience but by far my favorite part of the trip was Jay and the ghost tour. Hes an excellent speaker and obviously loves what he does. In fact, everyone that works at The Elms seems to love what they do. I would definitely recommend this place to family/friends.
The Elms is beautiful and well kept. The Staff shows exceptional customer service. I was just married in their regent ballroom and the experience exceeded all of my expectations. The biggest thank you to all the hard working, sweet and professional Elms staff
We came this week for my birthday trip and our room that we stayed in had a mattress that really needed to be replaced. We both woke up on our first morning with back pain. When I went down to the front desk to see if perhaps we could change to a different room I was informed that there were no more rooms of our kind open. Instead they upgraded us to a suite! Ross was so kind, understanding, and accommodating!I couldnt have asked for a better staff or hotel stay for my 30th Birthday! The restaurant was delicious and the wait staff was so friendly. The spa was relaxing and their staff down there was wonderful.I really appreciated how the hotel and spa has handled this pandemic and all of the social distancing measure that they have in place and enforce. I felt so comfortable and safe during my stay here that I would recommend it to anyone looking for a trip away from home during these crazy times!
Great beds! The town was nearby and very walkable. I had the filet, medium rare, for dinner and though the restaurant was not very full, we got great attention from the staff and the kitchen was right on with all four of our dishes!
This place is a must visit.. very nice pool on the ground and the spa is great.. hot tub, Sona dry and steam.. oh wow great place to relax. Its an older building but very well kept..
Sigh....this place is a great get away for those looking for some R&R. Had a glorious experience in the grotto and massage as well as the rest of the spa treatments. This is exactly what the Dr. Ordered...we will definitely be back!
The website makes this place look a lot nicer than it actually is. The rooms are pretty old. The two stars are for the pools and hot tubes which are nice. Also beware of a resort fee, they didnt tell us about that when we checked in. Also, beware of any credits they give you, they will charge you if you tip at the restaurant or café. In a time when its hard to get people to hotels, the elms needs to do much better.
Positive: Great really nice place to stay
The Elms is a beautiful old hotel with great history. The entire staff was awesome and very helpful. I had special requests for my room and they did a fantastic job accommodating them. Although the menu choices were not plentiful, I suspect due to the COVID junk, but what they did have was very good. The Angus Filet was cooked to perfection every time. I highly recommend!
Ghost! Ghost! Ghost! Super relaxing atmosphere! Friendly staff, everything was top notch. Take the ghost tour, you’ll get to hear the history, and see rooms you wouldn’t normally have access to. The lap pool is amazing!
Outdoor pool is absurdly cold all the time. I’ve been here multiple times during the summer and the pool is so cold every time no one ever gets in, not even kids! It’s so sad to see the kids’ faces when they are all ready to swim and then have to sit on the side with only their feet in. It’s gets into the 100s here so they must have a chiller attached to the pool to keep it so cold.Otherwise a fantastic local getaway with decent rooms, a great spa and beautiful, extensive grounds. Just don’t come here to swim.
History, Flare, Cosmopolitan, Ambiance, Decor, Personable...I feel there is something for everyone at the Elms. We signed on for the Haunted Tour, given the season, well worth it! The Guide was fabulous, he is a part of the Elms history. You come to Do the Elms, not just stay there.
Fantastic grand hotel! Wonderful for a 2 or 3 night stay.
Its our 5yr Anniversary and we wanted to go some place relaxing and its 3am and drunk parties all over our floor called front desk several times to complain. Wanted a quiet romamtic night and got 20 some yrs being so rowdy i cant sleep. If you want a quiet romance weekend stay somewhere else.
One of my favorite hotels to stay at. Usually a reasonable price for a workin man. Great outdoor pool and huge hot tub. Then a lap pool and hot tubs down in the basement. I haven’t tried the spa yet. The restaurant is solid but pricey. Make sure you bring your crucifix and holy water. Don’t want them ghost buggin ya.
First time visitor. First ever massage. Oh my goodness.Incredible experience. A national treasure.Friendly staff, professional masseuse. Relaxing atmosphere all around.Tucked away in a beautiful niche in Missouri, northeast of KC.Well worth the trip.
It was an enjoyable stay. The restaurants served great food and we really liked the spa. The ghost tour was fun. It was pretty loud throughout the night and into the morning. Lotsa music playing out at the pool all night long. Seems like a party crowd likes to come here.
This place is a great experience! rooms are wonderful but make sure you take the paranormal tour and the guide has a bunch of good stories.
Historic hotel in quaint Excelsior Springs. Gorgeous spa facilities and pool, comfortable bedding. In hotel restaurant food and beverage were a little pricey but its to be expected. Ghost tours given nightly were fun and educational!
Our stay was not bad overall. It was clear upon entering our room (210) that the windows, their ledges and sills had not been dusted or cleaned in months. All 5 windows (3 in the main room and 2 in the bathroom) had webs and multiple dead bugs! Their was long hair in the soap dish in the shower. The mirrors were smeared and foggy looking, the bathroom door lock was also broken.I cant say if the hotel is haunted but the drink prices in the Tavern bar were the only terrifying encounter I had. We ordered 2 drinks, a long island and a Moscow Mule, our total was $38 and my mule wasnt even served in a copper mug. We found out that the bartender took it upon himself to enter top shelf drinks, which were the most expensive and not what we ordered. We were not offered a menu. The pool bar staff was amazing and the manager on Saturday was friendly and helpful. I believe his name was Mario. Its definitely not quite what the website makes it out to be.
Very charming property. Incredibly warm and wonderful staff. Beds are subpar at best however, very old and extremely uncomfortable. Tried to make a reservation to the spa more than once and no one ever called me back.
The elevator didnt work so we had to walk up and down to 4th floor. The breakfast was overpriced for what we were served. My order came out wrong but by that time I was so over the experience that I just didnt eat it. My shower that morning was not as nice as I was hoping as I ran out of hot water didnt know this was possible at a hotel but here apparently it is.The hand held shower head is placed so high I couldnt reach it. When we opened the curtains there was trash behind them on the floor so it made me wonder what else was not cleaned. Wish I could say had a great time and enjoyed the experience but unfortunately it was very disappointing.
I was so excited when I made my reservation at The Elms. I was meeting my best friend for a spa weekend. When I booked I chose the 2 queen bed parlor suite. The photos looked lovely and spacious. Upon checking in we found we were in a room that was nothing like the photos. Small and cramped with so surfaces to put your toiletries and other items. Dirty windows covered in spider webs met you when looking outside. Couple that with a broken elevator and this visit was less than stellar. Spa treatments were nice but very pricy.
Love this place. So elegant and fun and full of history
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is in walking distance of a couple of great restaurants, and a few miles up the road from a nice winery. The room was fine and the spa was great. Nice little coffee shop attached as well.
The spa was wonderful! I had a massage and facial and spent some time in the grotto. They could have had a few more chairs in there but it was still enjoyable. The hydrafacial was fantastic!!!
Cool old fashioned charm but flip side of that coin is walls are also thinner and you can hear a lot going on outside your room and vice versa.
Nice rustic place. We dined at the 88 restaurant and it was amazing. The braised lamb shank was one of the best meals of my life.
The food was good.... the service was nice... the rooms and hotel amenities were not so great! Dirty pools and Hot tubs... the room had a smell and need some more updating. The hotel is Not handicap accessible at all!
Finally used my gift certificate from Christmas. I chose the Moroccan Detox Ritual, which did not disappoint. I came in 2 hours early so that I could enjoy the grotto but found myself more relaxed outside by the outdoor pool catching some sun. I did try the dry sauna, steam sauna, and hot tub for a few minutes after my service. Beautiful spa, beautiful hotel, only wish I could have indulged more.
What an awesome hotel. The history is amazing. Loved it so much. Cant wait to come back
Its just far away enough to feel like a destination vacation. All kinds of treasures to find in this quiet town.
My wife and I stayed over Labor Day and had a mixed experience with this hotel. Its in a great location, and the grounds are beautifu with a nice pool and spal. However, there were some serious problems with the service. It started when my wife called to purchase one of the Spa packages advertised on the website. When she called to book she was told the advertised packages are no longer offered and everything had to be purchased separately. Next, when we stayed we were told after checking in that we would not receive maid service due to COVID. Finally, we asked for a late checkout on our last day. When I asked for the late checkout I was first told, no problem but then a manager later decided that we actually could not have the late checkout and we must be out by 12pm contrary to what we were told by the first employee. Some of these things could be overlooked but this hotel charges a premium price for not so premium service.
The hotel is amazing a lot of history. The haunted tour with Jay was really cool learned about history of the hotel . Al Capone stayed there President Truman stayed there . A lot of history . The town Excelsior springs was super cool with the older shops & jessie james farm good job Jay the tour guy thought me a lot about the history .
What a beautifully renovated hotel with amazing staff that helped make our valentines day retreat a special experience! My husband and I were treated to a fabulous couples massage. The spa was so quiet and relaxing with a romantic feel. With the spa treatment we were able to take advantage of the Grotto. There we could hop in the hot tub, steam shower, sauna, steam sauna or polar plunge shower. The restaurant within the hotel is so tasty. We enjoyed the 5 course meal that allowed us to try several new things that weve never experienced. It was all amazing! Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special night out.
Love the history of the place. Did the ghost tour with Jay and not only did he tell stories about things people experienced, but also history of the property which was nice.
We did not stay here but explored. This is an historic hotel and its beautifully kept. An inviting entrance, a cafe, an outdoor conversation pit. The lobby is large and appears to be all marble. Theres a decent outdoor pool with seating, and tables and chairs at intervals all the way around the circular ballroom/dining room. If you like atmosphere, give it a try. Then let me know what you think.
Stayed at The Elms Hotel for a night and took advantage of the fact that they had a spa and restaurant right in the hotel! Our room was newly renovated and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was beautifully done, too! After we had dinner, we took a quick walk to a local brewery and had a lovely time. We’ll definitely be back. It’s a great place to relax!
The hotel itself is very nice and the beds are extremely comfortable. We did not have the best experience with the staff and you have to keep an eye on the hidden fees which is unfortunate because the rooms are already pricey.
Beautiful hotel. Our room was extremely clean. Smelled good. Had a first floor room that was quite a walk with a steep ramp. Did not like that but it was ok. Pool was nice. Grounds were clean and well kept.
Amazing oasis and escape from life for a bit. Nice staff, cozy rooms, peaceful grounds. Will be back soon!
I went here to get out of the house with my mom, baby sister, and dog. We first checked in and got to our room. To get in you have to wave the card to get in. It takes a minute to for it to finally get i the room. When we got it it was really hot, when somebody came in they said that the heat has been on and we didn’t turn it on. The room was nice and I didn’t have any problems. When we went swimming outside there were lots of bugs in the pool and somebody smoking an electric cigarette, I understand the bugs but I think there should be a rule to no smoking anything. After that we got dinner and it took a bit to get here but the food was delicious. Over all it was a good experience
Great staff. Hotel loaded with history. Good food good spa good room.
Also, definitely take the ghost tour with Jay! It was a lot of fun and he tells really cool stories.
A beautiful resort with a beautiful pool area. The pancakes were some of the best Ive ever had! Service is up to par. We were sad because the ghost tour was unavailable that night.I took some video - posted some screenshots
When we checked into our room there was a dirty towel laying on bench and the bar of soap had been open and used. I called the front desk and the apologized and said they thought maybe someone was given that room but then moved to another room. They had housekeeping come and immediately refresh our room While we were gone out. Great spa
What a joyful experience! There is so much more here than meets the eye. Lots of American history. Plus you can go swimming.
Four of us went to eat lunch. The food was good and the staff friendly. We did not stay at the hotel but wanted a chance to enjoy a meal. The spa services looked interesting. May have to check it out more at a later date.
I will not be staying here again. If you’re looking for a luxurious hotel and a peaceful weekend getaway, this isn’t it. I can’t believe they charge what they do for the kind of rooms they have. When we arrived, we did not get any robes in our room like the website states. Whoever does their website does a nice job at making this place seem high class. It’s misleading. The king room we booked was extremely small and the bathroom was closet sized. It looks way different online. We had hoped to spend the weekend at the pool and quickly changed our plans. It was not only busy, but locals kept showing up who weren’t paying to stay at the hotel — which would be fine, but they were drunk. It was not a peaceful place at all. Service at the restaurant was terrible, too. I was really looking forward to a weekend getaway here and was so disappointed. I will say — if you’re going to just use the spa, that part is worth it!! I had a very good experience at the spa. The grotto is amazing and so are all the other amenities. But that’s the only nice thing I’ll say about The Elms.
Little over priced whole in the wall room. For 239. King bed took up almost all the room space. Breakfast by room service for 2 came to 65. No interest in going back.
We stayed for two nights in July 2020. That was our first and last time. This hotel is filthy. Months worth of dust buildtup in multiple places, the grotto has mold throughout, the bathroom floors/ showers are grimy. We counted six dirty bandaids left along the edge of the lap pool. Gross. We paid $300 for a couples massage and had high expectations. What a disappointment, our reservation was messed up and only one of us left relaxed.About 1/3 of the staff members could use additional customer service training. I had to wait 10-15 mins before anyone came to assist me in the cafe. Once someone was there, rather than apologizing and focusing on getting my order, she complained about what had causes her to leave the counter, which was of no concern to me. This is only one example.I am giving them two stars rather than one because the beds are incredibly comfortable, the pork shoulder was delicious and the ghost tour was cool.
We love this place. Love the style and history the most. Try to come up regularly from KC when the price is right to enjoy the ambiance, the indoor pool and the relaxation. Cute town with an interesting history. Support the town while you’re there.
Went there with my granddaughters, it was for there birthdays.. had a great time, took a friend along and she was in awe and loved the history behind it. Good Memories
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Gorgeous pool with HUGE outdoor hot tub. Outdoor bar serving food and drinks.Awesome spa services!
Pretty place with history. The room was smaller than I thought itd be. The room was dirty... Mirrors had streaks, floors were stained and still had stuff on them, and it looked like nothing had been wiped down. The bed was pretty comfortable and the pool and hot tub was nice. Found this through Groupon- pretty pricey for what you get... The $40 food and beverage credit was nice though. Used it for breakfast in bed which was nice.
The Spa treatment alone is a perfect reason to stay at The Elms Hotel & Spa! The Grotto is amazing, then you head for your massage and finish up with a drink in the quiet room!
Great Thanksgiving meal and breakfast!
Wonderful place. Its an older hotel, but super cool! Thoroughly enjoyed it. If youre looking for drinks, the restaurant on main level is good at making them. Id definitely stay away from the lounge. The bartender there was less than friendly.
Great place for a weekend get away. Beautiful hotel and grounds. Enjoyed the staff at the restaurant, tavern, spa, and front desk. There was an odd odor with the room we were going to stay in, so we were down another room. The woman at the front desk took great care of us when though she had only been at the hotel for 3 weeks... would have never known that. She did an excellent job of getting us a proper room for the weekend. We will be back to the Elms for a relaxing weekend in the future.
Definitely a place to visit in historic Excelsior Springs, many different ways to get a rest relaxation in on the fly. This is a Historic Hotel, its very well known for its Truman Suite, and recently the Ghost Tours that were part of a paranormal TV show. The staff is very friendly and helpful, you might run into a people breaking the rules mildly. Overall its a fantastic play to stay and the only real draw to Excelsior Springs Missouri. Definitely worth a peek if you need a place to stay in the greater Kansas City area.
Cover the good first: good location, limited interaction with the staff wasnt bad, and the pool area was GREAT. Everything else, no so much. For over $300 a night the room had no mini fridge, no towel hooks (just the broken stump of where one went), pull out mirror hanging off the wall with screws sticking out, and VERY limited space. About what i would expect from a $80 a night Super 8. The chain on our door (room 150) is installed backward so it is nonfunctional. The bathroom door gets stuck if you choose it all the way. Need to hip-check it open. The spa services were double the price of anywhere Ive ever gone. The spa was a nice place but I didnt feel, personally, worth double. The Elms Cafe also have a limited menu with the cheapest meal being about $30, for chicken. Thank God the location was within walking distance of a normal place to eat. With the price of the room breakfast was not included. What was offered is an very understaffed coffee shop. Perk, they were still pleasant while being understaffed but as a customer a 30 minute wait for coffee both days is crazy. The ice machine was broken and a nice staff member did get me some from the kitchen. Also even at 9am all trashes in public areas were over flowing. Public restrooms by the pill also out of toilet paper all of Saturday. Basically, for $300+ a night Id expect a functioning room with space. Could be a really cool place but it needs work, badly.
First time here and let me tell you it was sooo relaxing! I will come back!!!
Paranormal tour guided by Jay is awesome! The 88 and the tavern is an excellent place for dinner and just to unwind. The live music was fantastic. Chilling by the pool was a big bonus.
Nice place. Some spots are showing there age. But I enjoyed my stay. Loved the pool and hot tub.
Great Hotel, beautiful grounds and very courteous and helpful staff. My wife and I hope to visit again someday.
Off the path but easy to find. Its also a paranormal destination. We booked a Deluxe Royal room on the 5th floor. On that floor you get happy hour in the 5th floor lounge, free adult drinks, snacks like cheese, crackers and some meats. Spa center is fantastic, just book in advance as they also serve the local community. The room was underwhelming, stained floor, updated fixtures, huge jacuzzi tube, walk in shower. The restuarant requires reservations. Close by convenience store for cheap snack. Bed old but comfortable, parking was tight, but there was a 300 person wedding. Plan on dropping some loot if your hanging in the hotel an extended amount of time unless you want to drive in town. Great place, I highly recommend. Plan ahead for the restaurant or spa.
Wasnt able to stay at the hotel. Hotel Operator transfered me to the massage front desk and no one answered so I called the operator back to book a room and she also didnt answer. No one was able to tell me if the amenities were available before booking a room, its kind of the only reason to stay at this hotel.
Very great experience at the old The Elms and the Spa was wonderful ~ everyone Checkout Groupon for great deals here first before you book online (FYI) we enjoy 4 days here and relaxed ~ esp the ghost stories we got to participate in at 9pm given each night by Jay. We will be back ~ so much here that will be looking fwd to being back :)
My sister and I stayed at the elms for a night for a sisters getaway. We loved it! The spa is so luxurious, the grotto with the saunas and hot tub is such a relaxing way to start the day at the spa. We loved our room which the front desk upgraded for us when we checked in, we just asked and they had a suite available and gave it to us. We loved the pool. The beds were soft and comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice. I will definitely come back!
My husband and I had a fantastic short stay at the Elms. The lovely woman at the desk upgraded our room to the Al Capone Suite which made our time there even better. We cannot wait to come back.
We had a wonderful stay. We also added the ghost tour that is offered nightly and Jay was excellent! Highly recommend the tour- very knowledgeable and funny. If you stay at The Elm you must book some time at the spa! 5 out of 5 at the Spa as well.
Beautifully maintained hotel. Very luxurious and cool. From famous gangsters to Presidents everyone wants to stay at the Elms. Front desk folks are not very friendly or helpful though. The restaurant was scrumptious. Waiters, waitresses and bartender were really great. I loved wandering around the hotel. You can just feel the history. My room was clean though a little worn. But the atmosphere was superb..
Good price great pools! Never tried spa yet but have come the last two weekends in a row, kid friendly
Fabulous environment and decor in the hotel and the 88 dining room. No seafood but other delicious options to choose from. Beautiful presentation of salads and entrees. Delicate dark chocolate pastry was just heavenly. Excellent service, friendly and willing to go to extra effort to check if scallops or shrimp available even though not listed on menu. Wonderful experience.
My wife and I have been here many times and have really loved it here. But our last stay was a bit over charged and under advertised. We stayed in the smallest room ever, for $160.00. Advertised price. The bill ended at $230.00+. Parking,( in an open lot). Use of the out door hot tub and who knows what else as we never were not given a printed receipt. I feel when my wife called the front desk to make our reservation they could have mentioned (especially knowing how many times we have spent time there over the past 8 years) they now have parking charges, extra charges to use the out door hot tub and such. Crazy hidden fees they never did prior. Thanks for the good times over the past years, but never again....
Leanne the waitress was amazing as well. very friendly and fast. we had her all three times so we got to see her skills!!! amazing woman!!
