Kind of a disappointing place. A very small Museum. You can tell from the building that this used to be a very luxurious place in the past. Right now it is mostly a city hall and municipal offices.the main room that is the Hall of waters is still kind of need to look at, you can tell it was very fancy and its day. I suppose there isnt enough traffic anymore to keep this place as nice as it should be. The bottom is completely blocked off from access. Apparently two stories down theres an old pool that hasnt been used in over 25 years. It must have been very luxurious and its day also. Really not much to look at here, but it is worth a stop.
The Hall of Waters sits in the heart of the downtown of Excelsior Springs. A WPA Project, cost for the building at the time was the most expensive in the country, at one million dollars. The building now acts as the City Hall and also houses the community’s visitors center. The community is currently in the process of trying to save the building and restore the space economically through tourism and business. It has been recognized by the National Trust as a space needed to be saved.
Very interesting history and architecture. But, if you expect to see actual water in the Hall of Waters, youre going to be a bit disappointed. This might change in the future. Seems like they were interested in restarting some of the wells, but right now, all they have is the architecture and the history panels.
No social distancing by Clay Cty Commission Committee when meeting in City Hall Chambers, Thurs, August 13.
Great museum to learn the history of Excelsior Springs. Whether you do a day trip or spend the night at the Elms Hotel this would be a great time. Several good restaurants such as The Wabash or Dubious Claims.
Hall of Waters Ghost tour was outstanding. Believer or not, the tour, history and stories were fascinating. TR and his assistants were so knowledgeable and friendly. Paranormal activity definitely seems to be there. And of course the Hall of Waters is so beautiful at Christmastime.
Amazing architecture and décor. Small museum on the main floor. Lots of history to read and beautiful mosaics to look at
Very cool. We were the only ones there?
It was interesting to go and see all the history.
Really need to move court to a different location
Dont come for the water, you only find history. But the lady there was so nice.. Thank you city for saving this beautiful art decor building.
Beautiful! Browsing the museum area really makes you long for the Excelsior Springs of old, where you could enjoy the actual waters.Informative.(Historic pool is not available for viewing)
Super interesting. Vince is an employee and told is lots of great things about the building and the surrounding buildings.
Tried to vote unfortunately the dmv didnt get me in the system
This place has so much potential. We were bummed when we realized that you can no longer sample the water. Beautiful building and a reminder of years gone by.
Did the ghost stories tour. Very informative. We all enjoyed the tour. It would be nice if in the description of the event it would say its a walking tour
Very interesting history of Excelsior Springs...if you dont like to read, dont go. That is basically all that it is. But the history of the Springs is fascinating if youre into that kind of stuff
Very interesting. Learned more from visiting the Hall of waters that I did all the classes. My grandfather went there when I was very very young. It was interesting just to see what all they had available.
Its sad that they havent done a better job of preserving the history of this place.
Good looking place
Kind of dissapointing
Interesting place. Will have to come back for a guided tour
Beautiful building
Only here for court or pay water bill
Such a cool building
Beautiful art-deco WPA building but a hall of waters with nothing to drink but canned soda, somewhat disappointing. Could be an interesting attraction with a bit of renovation.
A historical place that probably has seen glorious days
Great place to visit DINAMIC history had a great christmas display
Art Deco and full of history. If you’re luck to find TR in the building he will take you behind the scenes and down the the belly of the building. TR is on a first name basis with the building’s ghosts and has a special attraction to Monique the leader of the local paranormal. Fun and free stop while in Excelsior Springs.
It just wasnt what we expected I guess. They didnt even have water in the cooler. It said empty lol and they werent very talkative when I asked questions.
Small, clean and part of the history of Excelsior springs. Historical narrative is concise and its free for visit, we were lucky to have someone on the front tell us all about this place.
Lovely old building but not much going on in it.
It was interesting, while walking around Excelsior Springs it worth a 5-10 minute walk through.
If you like history you will love this place.
Very interesting place. Its too bad the pool had fallen into disrepair. I wish the interest existed to bring it back to its former glory.
Interesting historical building in downtown excelsior. If your killing time you can...you can do it there.
Excelsior Springs is a interesting town surrounded by woods like forest at the Hall of Waters, with a retreat, and almost everything else super common though, a gas station and poor boy sandwiches is still nice, nice mountain park and trails, stay a few days, but thats all, maybe 3 days
Great Ghosts!
Spent a lot of summers in the pool very sad to see it now city isissing out by not rebuilding it
Very neat, should serve waters again thou . .
So much history to be enjoyed by all!
Everyone was very kind and courteous and sympathetic to my situation. But has not a bad thing OK
If youre looking for history and art deco architecture, you have come to the right place. If you are looking for actual water, keep looking.
Neat historic building!
My granddaughters choir was singing and they were awesome!
I was expecting to see water. They had historical pictures and description of what happened to the springs.
Alot of historical info you can read about..self guided tour of medical use saunas, baths, and showers, etc.
Interesting site, but not well maintained
Wish that there was more available to see especially the pool area. So sad that such a piece of history is no longer functional.
Neet place to go
Kinda boring. Not worth the hour drive.
Its okay. Nothing like it used to be though.
Lived getting to see the building and learn a little more of the history up the street at the old bank!
Wonderful historic place to visit!
Great place
Beautiful buildings and interesting stories and photos.
Interesting place, local history shame you are unable to sample or purchase waters that made Excelsior Springs famous.
The hall of waters is where you can go to settle anythi mg you need
