After reading the recent reviews of the course I see since I last played there in late 2019, not much has changed for the better. You can tell at some point this was a great place with the layout, homes on the course, etc.Sadly this course even with a small attempt to remodel some of the inside is far from being a true golf course to come to now.I hope that with some real effort that this course can be resurrected soon. All the Best Castle Creek.
This is a fairly run of the mill course. I found the fairways to be in decent shape, but the greens were pretty beat up. The traps were well manicured, but the sand was rather hard. It’s a pretty long course, but not overly challenging. The facilities - bathrooms and such - are pretty beat up. That said, I only paid $25 and I finished in about 3 hours. Staff is friendly though. Below average course, but great value.
Fun course despite the lack of maintenance around the clubhouse. Great staff, very friendly. Lots of fun shots throughout the course. With a little maintenance this place would be sweet. I enjoy playing here, there is a putting green and a driving net near hole1.
Had a great time on this course the fairways were a little brown but the greens are getting worked on, the plus side it wasnt packed with golfer so we werent rushed on our game. I had a good time and will come again and play some more golf here. Ps so far this is the only golf place that was iced water around the course witch is awesome because its vary refreshing!
I stopped playing there a few years ago, due to the lack of maintenance. I thought I would give it another try, but was truly disappointed. The greens were in poor condition and the fairways were dry and thin. The bummer is that they knew of the conditions and still charged full price. If the course was kept up, it would be fun to play.
Bummer conditions especially for the price. $55 bucks when it was worth about $25. Went because me and my bro use to head there together back when we first started playing. Pro shop was in bad shape, starter, couldn’t remember our names after asking 3 times, fairways were bad, around the fairways forget it, greens ok, and finished it off with the cart guy asking me to move the cart I returned about two more feet over. Seems to be on the closing end of its run. Unless this is all covid related...sorry for the bad review but people got to know it isn’t worth it.
The pickleball is great. The golf, not so much. A goat pasture at best.
Greens need a bunch of work. When you find one in good shape they put nice.
Had to do 4 stars. Greens a little beat up, (fungus). But still like the course. Rough day today, though.
Course is in very bad shape. Fairways are extremely unkempt. The greens are in terrible condition with bald spots everywhere. Tee boxes were uneven and gouged. This course needs to fix itself if it wants to justify $40 a round. You couldnt pay me to play here again.Additionally the front desk clerk could care less about the customer. Barely acknowledged my existence and quickly went back to playing on the computer. All the course bathrooms are closed and the one that is open at the main building is absolutely filthy.
For the price very disappointed. Was my first and last time playing here. Plenty of other amazing courses for around $50 in north county. Greens where the only green part of the course and where in bad shape ball bounces all over the place. Fairways had some ok spots mostly dead grass. Hate to say it as I almost never write bad reviews but spend your money elsewhere.
DO NOT PLAY HERE!!! I can’t stress it enough. This place hasn’t been mowed in months. There’s craters all of the greens. The guy at the front desk was very rude. We asked for our money back after the first two holes. It was $60 and it wasn’t worth $10! We should have had our entire money refunded and they would only refund half. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
This has always been about the worst kept golf course in the area, but the the prices were affordable. Now, since coming out of the lockdown, the course is in even worse shape than ever and they are asking $45 a round with no 9 hole rate. No one is going to pay that to play at Castle Creek. That is the green fee at Pala Mesa which is a world apart from Castle Creek. Only explanation is that they are intentionally putting themselves out of business. And another North County golf course bites the dust.
A golf course that no one manages. The grass turns yellow.
Besides some of the bouncy greens, overall good times.
Only green grass on greens. Even the greens have very little green grass. No sand in bunkers, only dirt. Cheap price reflects playing conditions. They need to update their photos on their website. They also gave us a cart that died during our round. On the positive side, the burger and fries were delicious.
Golf course has gone to seed and not worth time unless beginner golf and cheap
10/6/1910 greens were under water. It’s a pathetic excuse of a golf course. I’ve played courses in the heart of Detroit that had wild pitbulls lurking around that I would recommend over Caste Creek in Escondido. I wouldn’t play here again if management paid me 50 dollars to do so.AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Worst course... Bathroom no toilet paper, green is horrible, grass not now, gopher holes everywhere, course need to be shut down complete for maintenance. Restaurant and bar, I wouldnt eat there.
Pros: wonderful young lady in pro-shop on Sat. 3.24! Great price $35 Sr rate. Great food special for lunch: pint of beer, loaded cheese burger & fries for $10 + tax & tip.Cons: greens are beyond damaged with loss of cover and disease. Fairways not too much better.Overall know what you’re getting for your $ and don’t be disappointed
Great food, great craft beer selection. Fast friendly service and theyb play live music on the weekends. Great local spot to eat, drink, and enjoy great live music at night. I would love to try and golf here someday.
Course seems a little rough. High grass, greens look bad. I understand this is under new management. This is great. The layout of the course appears that at one time, this was a great course.
Disappointed and angry at how far this course has fallen in the last decade. Greens were TORE UP, fairways were over watered/ inconsistent cut (cut like rough). Dead grass spots everywhere. Facilities looked run down... besides the greens being so messed up, if you have a clear shot through chunks of grass missing they rolled out nice.
This place is not as advertised. Not a championship golf course. The only green that wasnt rashed up was the 1 visible from the main intersection. There is no real discernable difference between the fairway and the ruff. Its ruff all over... The grounds keeper was 1/2 a hole ahead of us watering all the greens in the middle of the day. We will never be back. I wish I could post the pictures I took.
I come here often with coworkers since its just down the street from work but there is a girl here by the name of Olivia and she decided that she would serve everybody at the table but me. The only thing I could honestly think of is that Im a nice pretty girl and some how that may of offended her. After finally receiving a drink I realized it had nothing but water in it and asked if she could top me up. She refused and turned her back. The next time I came in I was told that because I did not tip for this outstanding service she refuses to serve me because I did not tip. I have worked in the hospitality industry and fully understand that they work for tips. But its also understood that in order to make good tips you must give good service. She gave me the card to her manager Leeann and when I called her I was told that legally she can refuse service to whoever she wants. I told her that I hadnt done anything to deserve this and the manager informed me she would give her a call. I then was able to purchase a drink but only after making me wait 10 min. She slid me my drink and said give me your card! Never have I been treated so badly in an establishment. In combination with the staff and how the manager treated me on the phone I would not recommend this place to anyone. On top of everything its in very poor condition. I will also be reporting this discrimination to the BBB and will no longer be bringing my business here.
Course was challenging, but very fun. mature trees and tight fairways on some holes make for a very enjoyable round of golf. good conditions considering the drought and greens were nice and smooth. rex was very helpful and greeted me with enthusiasm. would recommend this course to anyone and cant wait to come back and play again.
Made for a great Monday afternoon golfing trip. They offer military and senior rates so the price is doable if you dont want to have to pay too much for a solid round of golf. Employees are cool, theyll get you out as soon as possible. The greens were in good condition, not too fast and not too slow. Some holes were more difficult than others but it was still a great place for any level golfer. On top of all this, I got one of the best hotdogs Ive had from their snack bar.
Course was in excellent condition, even in the middle of summer. Read some negative reviews in the past but we had a great time golfing here. Staff was friendly, newer carts, course in great shape, highly recommended. Was a little busy at 8 am on Saturday morning but pace of play was good. Course looked to be wide open after 10 am.
I love this golf course so much. Staffs are very nice and provide professional service.Courses are maintaining top condition especially greens are very nice to play.Nice view with beautiful course lay out. I want to play again.
Always great fun to play. Staff makes it enjoyable. Downcheck: many of the ball washers dry and/or no towels.
Little rough, extremely narrow, but a lot of fun. Lets you work on your longer game. Lots of par 5s.
Not super fancy but a cost effective 18 hole course with carts included. A nice place for beginners and for moderately advanced players as well.
Hello its under new ownership and I very pleased with the future plans
Great pickleball venue! The environment is so nice. Great people and a deal at $3!
Good pickleball games. Nice area nested between the hills.
We went here did a round of golf and accidentally left $80 cash on our cart. The staff was honest and returned it to us.
Nice layout. Could use some watering. Some holes unforgiving around the greens with no rough to stop the ball rolling to hazards
Greens were in nice condition. Fairways were a little dry but its understandable in that dry area.
Fairways and greens in terrible condition.
Greens poor, layout is fun. Good mix of hard, and easy.
Fun course. Great bar and food is N clubhouse.
Very good course, nice long fairways, clean Greens
We are canadian snowbirds who golfed here for the thjrd winter. this course got a great deal better this year.i would like to thank management and staff for making our golfing very injoyable. We made alot of great friends here so we cant to come back.If in area this course is a must play.
Few places needed more water, but the course is in good shape overall. Greens were really tough to figure out.
Great Pickleball there in the mornings for anyone that likes to play!
Worst greens in lower riverside or san Diego. go any where else but here
Service very friendly. Shrimp tacos are amazing.
If you can get the price on the thirties then this course is for you. Great greens and challenging for all.
Greens are terrible
Greens were terrible.
Went too late to play...will be back.
Course in OK shape. Recent rains have helped.
