Great place to hike with the kids. It has a playground as well. And an incredible overlook view.
So peaceful. Great cabins. The park rangers are super nice and helpful!
Lovely park for history buffs and nature lovers alike. Deer, groundhogs and other critters abound.
Beautiful area..history information is readily available..trails and grounds are really nice
Awesome place for family time. We enjoy it there. It is quiet and clean. There is alot to do close by.
Love this campground. Camp sites are not on top of one another. Staff is super friendly. They make rounds every night to make sure you dont need anything. Know a lot about the area and make great suggestions for things to do, go and see in the nearby area. Its a little off the beaten path, which is why we like it. Looking for a quiet campground? This is the place. Also has interesting history, complete with monuments.
We attended the Battle of Newtown this past weekend and it was amazing. The woods walk was a wonderful experience for the public and a blast for us reenactors.
Love this place. Even though some facilities are out of date they are clean.
Had a great time, a family history, throwback ACTIVITY, photo shoot too!
Such an amazing park. Quiet and secluded but at the same time so close to so many great things. Can not wait to go back.
Beautiful views, amazing trails, great history. Good for camping, to boot.
Nice out of the way spot for outdoor get aways.
A very pretty and calming place. Not a major battle field, but important. Easy to find, well maintained sight.
Nice small park with camping, trails, and refreshingly honest historic markers. The opinins and biased views of past generations remain, but the newer monuments and sighns attempt to record events from multiple perspectives. I appreciate both and commend those who maintain this place.
Great part of history
Great historic park
Excellent history lesson about the birth of our country. Pavilions are clean with warm water and showers. The view is excellent...picnic area is clean and nice.
Have lived in this area my whole life and today was the first time visiting Newtown Battlefield!- Absolutely beautiful area for picnicking with family and restrooms were very clean which is an absolute plus-- will definitely be visiting Sullivans Monument again!
What a great place. Definitely worth it for the price we paid.A little background; we booked this place because we knew it would be a quite, relaxing weekend and it was. I highly recommend the cabins. Theyre set up a little weird but still huge, and they have electricity and a bathroom. There is no running water, but if you pick a site that has a drinking fountain by it, you can wash your hands at the spigot. Each cabin has a porch, which was great because it rained most of the weekend. The staff was also very friendly and willing to help out if there was a problem. The bathrooms were clean.Just a couple of cons. There isnt a ton to do at the park, just some walks/hikes and a little bit of history. I wouldnt suggest this for a week-long trip with kids but it should be fine for a day or two. There are playgrounds. For adults that just need a break, its perfect. It is a little buggy, so be sure to pack the bug spray. I would not recommend the two electric sites, theyre basically in a parking lot. This is ideally for tent/cabin campers. Also, the soda machine was broken. We will definitely visit again.
Always nice clean and comfortable
Gorgeous views, wonderful staff.
I live nearby so I can come on a moments notice. Nice bathrooms and showers. Great staff and excellent star gazing opportunities!
Great visit
Beauty, cabins, hiking trails
Really cool place with a lot of history! Little-known revolutionary war cemetery in the area as well!
Great place for camping.
A very beautiful park with a great view. The cabins seem pretty well maintained.
Great view of the valleu
A great place for a family picnic or get together.
Beautiful quiet park. Nice cabins and super friendly staff.
Great history well kept place great views nive cabins and indian area
Pros: quiet and secluded, quite far from any main roads so theres very little noise pollution. Dark at night. There was availability last minute over Labor Day weekend.Cons: very many mosquitoes. It had rained two days prior which may have exacerbated the nuisance. I stayed at the north lot and most of the tent lots were a little close to each other but half were vacant.
Good place to get togather
Had a great time here. Quiet, secluded, incredible views and really neat history. My kind of park. Oh yeah, clean bathrooms, hot showers and friendly staff too, no complaints at all from me.
Interesting historic site with a small campground. Good place for those looking for a quieter camping experience. The back loop of campsites is more secluded then the front loop.
Great view! A few trails. Easy off the highway, nice break while traveling through the area. Nice picnic area. Spend an hour, the day, or the weekend and you will find an enjoyable experience.
Nice place
We go camping here frequently over the summer to where some employees recognize us.such a great, quiet place to spend a weekend.the staff are wonderful and accommodating.public bathrooms and showers are as clean as they can be for a campground.views are breathtaking.so much to do.the little village, playgrounds for the kids, pavilions for parties.i cant wait for camping season so we can go back
Nice view clean facility
Loved to vist when they had the Revolutionary War reenactments. That was a bad move when they stopped having those. I became a reenactor when I attended a reenactment at this park
Beautiful park. Camping cabins. Picnics.Beautiful vista
Wery nice park with lots of history
Nice place to visit or to have a get together
Beautiful and serene
Nice views.some ok trails.not a lot of signage in terms of historic perspective. As a battlefield buff-its a nice place to walk around but lacking in terms of getting a sense of the battle. No visitor center.
Very interesting park. Love the historic nature of it
Very hard to find where yr parties at signs needed but nice there
This park is right off of the interstate. Not much going on here except the incredible views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Good place for a picnic and a bit of history.
Cool historic park. A few short trails and overlooks surrounding a monument and camp areas.
Educational, historically significant. Intern did a fine job.
Beautiful place for camping but no much to do for a day trip.
We use this place sometimes as a small night visit to split up our trip to WNY; nice and quiet here
Ill start by saying that I love the fact that this is a historic site. For a day trip this would be a four star or even have five star potential with some very cool pavilions and picnic/cookout areas. As for camping it has the same downfall as most state parks. The camp sites are on top of each other with one or two exceptions. We did go on a weekend, but not a holiday, so out of the 9 sites (give or take) on the north loop there were us and 3 other sites occupied. One of witch did not show up until 9:30 and spent an hour trying to back-in a pop up camper. Lastly there are maps, but the road to the Native American Village is not marked so keep that in mind. It was a nice addition to the park. The vast majority, if not all of it seem to be recreated, but nonetheless its worth a look.
Loved this place since I was a kid
Great park to visit with picnic areas
Beautiful today. This park is a treasure
Great scenery love the history and memories of camping there as a kid
This is really a picnic area with some campsites shoved in. Poor management of the area has left scant regard for quiet hour rules with no enforcement and bathroom facilities in much need of updating. I wouldnt recommend camping here, but certainly worth visiting for a picnic or day out.
Beautiful. Interested in doing our wedding here and the ppl are so helpful and friendly. Always tell us that they are available for answering any questions and even giving us great ideas
Quiet and beautiful. No Ranger on site. Bathrooms were virtually unusable. We stayed one night.
A little gem of a historic place.
Well kept and never too busy
Visited Memorial Day Weekend, very clean grounds and bathrooms, and friendly staff who know the area and gave an awesome recommendation for some serious single track mountain biking (Two Rivers Park by Waverly NY:) However the campsites are really for group camping since most are located in a open clearing with no privacy between the sights.
This is an astronomers or photographers DREAM!!!
Good for camping or cookout, couple nice provillions for group activities... limited maintenance during recent years
Decent camp grounds. Cheap firewood sold by the park and the are other good options in the surround area.
Beautiful park, excellent reenactor event
A beautiful, historic park with playgrounds, camping cabins, grills and plenty of hiking trails
Great state park. Little used.
I use to work here back in 98/99/20 and I loved every min. Of it !
Very nice area
Nice historical place set in a peaceful area
A must see ...Cool info on local history
Excellent views, but there was a birthday party when I went there so could not explore much.
Great Historic Park with a great View and nice trails to hike nice cabins for camping very nice Big Cabin building great for celebrations of all kinds nice little area with play equipment for the kids peaceful atmosphere
Has some great information at the overlook, and just absolutely beautiful. I am not too sure I am fond of the swing sets, some of them have overgrown grass, some just no swings on them at all, And some are just set in some odd places.Water fountians are nice, bathrooms are clean, and showers are nice.Campsites are a bit too close but if there are other people thereit would be a bit too close for my comfort. They are all cleaned up with a garbage can at each camp site. The site we wanted was already reserved, but they never showed up untill 9:30 at night, check in is at 3.. Im sorry but I do believe it was a bit rude as I personally do not like headlights shining in my eyes, bc they are backing their camper into the site. I thought there was supposed to be a cut off time to prevent this from happening. Besides the disrepectfulness of other, the campground itself it nice. One thing that I didnt get was there was no sign for the Indian village. As thats the most interesting part of the park.
Great place for a quick hike and some nice views! Learn a little history while youre here!
Had fun!!
