Went for a day hike. Download the map online as they do not have a good map onsite. Beautiful scenery, I recommend walking down to the dam. If you walk down to the river its worth it but steep!Did not camp.If you are like me and originally from out of state, be advised MD parks charge you per person to enter.

Went to check out the pavilion. Looking to rent it next year for a wedding. Bathrooms are very close by and clean. Pavilion area 300.Edit*- Just had my wedding here yesterday (Aug 22, 2020) and the venue was perfect. Absolutely beautiful! Held our 55ish people very well!

I grew up in this park spending hot summers playing in the potapsco river. I have traveled to state parks all over the country, this park is my favorite. Great hiking trails, places to get lost

Very nice place. Calm and peaceful during the weekdays and little to no crowds compared to weekends. Nice place to take leashed dogs. Clean, no trash cans or trash type park. Bring trash and leave with it.

Holofield has a great playground for the kids. Didnt get much time on trails there, but was really here for our little one.

My wife, daughter, and I stayed here twice this summer. We enjoyed ourselves both times, but unfortunately this State Park campground has some drawbacks that took away from our experience. First, if you like camping as a way to get away from it all, forget about it here. Its not that far away, and youll know it. Road traffic and train traffic are audible from just about everywhere in the park day and night. Interstates 695 and 70, US 40, and MD Route 29 are all in very close proximity and all surely play a role. Yes, PVSP is a surprising little piece of nature so close to Baltimore, but unfortunately that close proximity comes with a price and this is it. Secondly, the bathhouse. Its not terrible, but its not as nice as those you find in other Maryland state parks. The signage on the door indicates they are awaiting bathroom rehab, so hopefully this issue will soon be corrected. On the positive side, the water is beautiful, and there are plenty of great trails both here and in the neighboring areas of PVSP. Overall, while we enjoyed ourselves, we see PVSP being more of a day trip destination than a camping trip, and going forward will likely only return for that purpose.

Kind of challenging to find if you have never been in the area, but a really nicely set up campground. We stayed two nights, and as a low budget traveling family we found it a great spot from which to base ourselves for a quick visit to Baltimore. The facilities were excellent. Great for kids and there is a playground for them in the day use area (not in the camping area itself, but at entrance area). Sites were very well kept and maintained, one of the best we had seen on our 2-3 months traveling and camping in the northern US states.

Theres a separate (and closer) place to park for the hiking trail and while the people who run the Hollofield Area knew about it, they decided to not inform me and charge me for parking in this area. When I confronted them later, they apologized and said they knew, but that they needed to make money for the park. Beware.
