Absolutely exquisite. The home has been beautifully restored and is a true showing of the glory of the guilded age. If you love history or architecture, take a stop here. The docents could answer all of my questions, and it was great to experience the home with a docent who clearly loved the house.

Wow!!!! This home is absolutely extraordinary & Mark our Tour Guide was such a gracious host & extremely knowledgeable & fun. You will enjoy it so much more if you get involved & ask lots of questions, even quirky ones like, Is it haunted?I will leave the answer for you to find out when you plan a trip to visit this Mansion. You will be swept away at the Oppulence of Ruthmere.Mark is the Bonus, he was charming & genuine & made the afternoon so enjoyable. We visited Elkhart to walk some trails, we walked the trails at Cobus Creek County Park, just down the street, it is gorgeous, and the restrooms truly sparkle, they are soo clean.I can see why The Beardsley Family chose Elkhart to lay down roots.

Lived in Elkhart for 20 years and I visited inside for the first time a couple weeks ago when my aunt came to visit. It is a great tourist destination! They have guided tours every hour on the hour that last around 1hr. My tour guide was very willing to answer questions and showed us some cool secrets of the house. My aunt was surprised by the cool organ-type instrument inside the house, the goregous dining room, the china, Mrs. Beardsleys bedroom, and the electric car in the garage. Not to mention the calm beauty of the gardens. Learned so much about the Beardsleys and my own city. Definitely recommend!

Well worth the money! This place is such a gem. So much to learn and so much to see. Our docent was very knowledgeable and its clear he enjoyed talking about the mansion and is passionate about what he does. He gave us excellent presentation on the tour. There is such artistry and craftsmanship in every inch of the house. This is an artists and a history buffs paradise. Every room in the house is so unique. I hope to go back again sometime!

We attended the Ruthmere and the Havilah-Beardsly house and surprisingly the Ruthmere was the lesser of the two tours that we went on. While it has an impressive collection of art and furniture, so much of the room seems locked off and the tour almost feels disorienting as you go through it, and we left feeling like we hadnt learned as much as we did at the other house and with less of a welcoming attitude.

2 stars for the integrety of antique items, i found the whole museum snobby, and stuffy. No photos allowed, the first guide was young and perky kept it going, the second guide was old and stale, stopped the tour multiple times obviously distracted (possibly discusted) by the kids. We left the tour early. It was a free day, glad i hadnt paid for that experience.

The Ruthmere mansion offers tours on the hour during the season. The building is in excellent shape, and contains a lovely variety of decor in the Beaux Arts style. The tour starts with a video about the building and family. There are stairs to climb, but you get a very thorough overview of the way things were in the early part of the 20th century. Our tourguide is also the caretaker, and provided a very knowledgable insight into the life and time of the building. One of the best historic house tours I have ever been on
