After seeing the pictures I brought my mom here to look around. I thought it was going to be beautiful...however it was just the opposite. The weeds are over grown...the water....you cannot even see it..because there is a plant of some kind that has taken over...Clearly no one is taking care of the place...too bad...it once was beautiful...by the looks of the pictures. There were many birds singing...it was wonderful...and the walk was to walk was great. If you like to walk and listen to birds this would be a good place to go.
Such a pretty place to go to. My 4 and 2 year had an absolute blast. Had no idea this type of nature was so close. We will definitely be going back soon.
Provided a nice walk and great birdwatching opportunity. They have planted trees but most of the walk has limited shade which could make a summer visit uncomfortable (they do have this posted on the website to prepare you). The informational signage is nice and I look forward to the natural child play area.
Great place to take kids, very accessible to all abilities and ages.
Very peaceful. Take binocs!
Quiet & serene. Best in early Spring when the grasses are low and many varieties of birds abound.
Beautiful and peaceful. The kids enjoyed the little playground area. Great place to go near Sacramento for fresh air and social distancing.
This place was beautiful! Very clean, and it was a nice trail for the kiddos to enjoy.. especially the little “Green Heron Play scape” super cool!
This weekend I volunteered to plant trees on the refuge. It was exciting to be part of the conservation effort and making the refuge wild again! There is plenty for all ages to do here, including wildlife viewing, nature walks and more.
Small and little shade, so it was very hot.
Stopped by on our way home from the Delta. This is a nice nature area to take kids so they can learn about nature. It is not too big so it is perfect for kids since their attention span is short. I give it 5 stars because all the trails are level concrete paths. Easily accessible for wheelchairs, walkers or chariots. Lots of informative signs describing birds and plants. All the volunteers do a great job maintaining the wetland. Lots of parking. Yes, the bathroom is to only be used on an emergency only basis. But, at least there is a bathroom since there is nothing else close by. I used it and I lived! Bring hand sanitizer, binoculars, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and an open mind to soak in nature. Enjoy!!
We were here today 3 pm. It is open (no gate anyway). Just make sure not to locate the admin building on google; the real gate is near, but you cannot go through by the admin area. Lots of birding flying around at 3pm, no bird really staying somewhere, so it is super warm but we didnt take any pic of birds. Not really recommended.
Nice little park. I would have given it a 5 but the bathrooms were abysmal to say the least, and the lack of running water was disappointing . But the trails and the pond/marsh and the amphetheater make this a very nice place to stop and have a picnic lunch or just get out and stretch your legs.
Beautiful, absolutely stunning. Bring hand sanitizer and a coat if you plan on being here for a while
A great easy nature walk.
Great nature area for birding, walking or sketching. Has cement paths in and around marshy area with tons of red winged blackbirds, bunnies, etc. Id give it 5 stars if they had flush toilets, but they are vault. Perfect for a family time. Its free and closed at 4:30 I think.Trails are great for strollers and wheelchairs users.
Restrooms, walking paths, many varieties of birds (if youre into birding), bring binoculars for close up of Hawks/Sandhill Cranes/Egrets/Herons, etc..., trees and shrubs have ID markers to identify species, freshwater wetlands not completely accessible but enough to take it in and see what its all about, easy access off road/freeway, does need a little TLC and minor maintenance but still quiet place to getaway for a walk. Didnt make it to the VC but they have one, Ill be back to check it out.
This has a nice walking trail and sometimes you can see cattle and sheep out there. It backs up against Stonelake Apartments and houses. Its worth the walk and my kids and I used to love it. Keep in mind...this is a short walk and restrooms are located at end of the trail where it meets public park with nice playground and fields
We had so much fun exploring! Great place for my daughter and I to play and learn
Beautiful. Delta wildlife. Peaceful.
One of the coolest experiences Ive ever had. So much fun. Family enjoyed it. If possible.... just get the membership.
The trail is wheelchair-accessible. We saw birds although there were none in the water. We certainly could hear them. I wish I brought my boots so I could get closer to that marsh full of hidden birds. They were having fun. Bring your own water. No drinking water available at the refuge.
A nice place to take your dog for a walk or for the birdwatchers out there a great place to see the local wildlife.
It was really quiet. We were the only ones at the park that day so we had it all to ourselves. Lots of birds but thats about all I saw
NO ANIMALS around where ur walking
I rode 30 mins to find out bikes arent allowed. lame
This is where you bring wild animals when they need help, we had to bring a sick little skunk here once. They do what they can to help them and if they get well enough they release them but if they cannot be released they will stay there and be cared for...
Nice place to come and enjoy the outdoors with family
Has a lot of trash everywhere.
I love what you have done with this place.
Plenty of parking.Nice paved trails to walk around.Distance of the trails are very short and easy to do.There is restroom.Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring, water, sunscreen, bug repellent, and a binocular if you enjoy bird watching. Its always nice to visit after the rainy days.
Looks to be a nice walk. I didnt do it because it was too close to those gates automatically closing. Just off the freeway
This was a nice small nature trail if you like to see birds and vernal pools.
Havent learned how to save yet breathtaking
On the smaller side, but there are many paved paths and separate areas of the preserve. There is a section with a little ampitheater. Very nice for a stroll and to observe wildlife.
Need a peace of mind here you go. Beautiful place
A quiet spot to walk around and take in some nature without travelling far
Amazing, calm, serene, simple country beauty. The drive alone is beautiful. Well kept secret.
Its a cool place for kids to go on a field trip maybe for 6th grade and under. It shows the circle of life and how bugs and birds migrate and such but its really flat and the car sounds kinda kill it ( its right on a road and maybe a half mile from the freeway)
Off the beaten path yet just a short drive. Saw a nice variety of birds including Herons and Egrets. Had a little rabbit jump right out in front of us. The trails are paved and level which is extremely nice for those in a wheelchair or using a walker.
We walked out on the furthest walkway; on the way back the birds were so loud, as we were walking back to the parking lot. It was the red wing black birds, it was amazing!!!
A new preserve. Flat, short hikes. Nice break from driving on I-5.
Loved it Im met a special person in my life here
Very nice and quite place. Small bu impressive.
It rocked love the people who run the place10
This is a beautiful place,I love fishing out this way.
Very nice lil refuge very small but lots of plants and birds and descent paved walking paths.
Its a great place to go to for a nice view of the river and the people here are very kind and politely.
No, no, and no. The trail is not even half an mile. It just goes in a circle. The reviews and pics are very misleading. Dont waste your time here. Off to an actual walking trail.
Nice place to visit, the whole day, very near the city.
Its good to get out and this place is close enough to find peace away from the city life.
Observed a few raptors & ducks. Cant wait to come visit in the fall/winter.
Nice little place to walk around & see alot of birds.
Lovely to walk and explore, even in late summer as I just did - but beware of wasps!! Lol
I looked up places to hike and this is not it. We walked each of the loops and the total couldnt be more than a mile. We enjoyed listening to the frogs and watching the birds.
Love this place. Its got great birds and places to walk.
Really nice and peaceful and the bathroom are clean.
Nice relaxing place to tour with the family. Clean and quite!
Peaceful small preserve with short paved trails that accommodate strollers. Information boards along the trails with birds chirping everywhere.
Very nice and quite place. No much visitors but I think it doesnt take much care.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will return.
Well-managed, small and accessible wetlands with paved trails.
Impresive
Peaceful, beautiful. Quiet, natural place to walk
This is a great place to spend an hour with a toddler.
Nice walking trail. Lots of birds.
Nice little wildlife refuge to visit if youre close by.
Best authentic mexican food hands down
Beautiful place for a nice walk
Had a great time
Really pretty place to see some wildlife and enjoy the outdoors
Most of the water seems to be dried up here unfortunately. Other than the lack of wildlife and water it is not a bad place to go if youre just looking to walk around.
Nice but high price
Secret beauty.
