Beautiful show, showcasing the waltz, polka, and other dances of Johan Strauss. Free event, with some good food vendors that are pricy, but reasonable for a free public event. The dancers are very friendly and mingle with the crowd before and after the show. Professional orchestra and set make it very enjoyable. Parking in the EG park is $10, but there are many streets in neighborhoods adjacent to the park where you can park for free, if youre willing to walk further.
I’ve gone to this Strauss Festival for many, many years & enjoyed it tremendously each time.
I recommend you come early and set out a blanket on the lawn to view the show. For a free show it doesnt get any better. The orchestra is first rate and the dancers are a feast for the eyes.
I think its fantastic to have the wonderful StraussMusic with dancers and gorgeous costumes and each year a different theme and the wonderfull hardworking Volunteers that put the show together. If you cannot go to VIENNA IN Austria COME to Elk Grove,California see the Strauss Festival undér the stars in Elk Grove Park, ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA WITH a real life Orchestra... I have gone every year for the last 30 years plus WHAT A WONDERFUL EVENT UNDER THE STARS IN THE ElK GROVE Park last week in July EACH year
Love the event. First time going there and I was very impressed with the organizationLove the fireworks . It was a great finale
Excellent players, dancers and wonderful vocals from the queen. A wonderful.time had by all. Will be back next year!!!!
I performed in it this past summer and had a blast! amazing show!!
Elk Groves finest event: accomplished dancers, exquisite costumes, excellent music, lovely setting . . . !
Fantastic, professional performance with beautiful dancing, music and costumes in a free outdoor theater.
Free annual musical event outdoors based on Johan Strauss waltz music. Fun for all the family.
Strauss Festival has been on my list for years and July would just fly by for 30 years. Then I met a charming prince who told me that he danced at the Strauss Festival. Allard Profitt reserved seats for me and my husband for 2016 program and I was entranced by the evening. Our plans to meet again will not happen this year, because hes dancing in a Heavenly Ballroom now. I will be there this year to remember him. Thank you, Allard and may God bless you.
If you like Strauss, this is the festival for you!
Very disappointed that they are now charging to allow people to sit on the hot, noisy, uncomfortable metal bleachers. The music was beautiful, and the dancers did well, not excellent like in the past. Transitions were clumsy & awkward. I dont know... we may end our 25-year tradition.
Its a very well done performance and the only cost is the parking. A lovely way to spend a summer evening.
The festival unfortunately does not represent the XIX century Viennese culture. The XX. century american musicals, and Disney themes are not appropriate, the choreographies are amateurish, same every year, there is no artistic concept. We can assume they dont work with any professionals, no wonder in 30 years the event could not grow beyond the community, and in fact is barely known in Elk Grove. Its the entertainment of a few for themselves and their friends.
There were some technical difficulties, but a wonderful evening overall.
Fantastic show!
