The zoo fits El Paso. The prices were decent and they accommodated military families abd honored the military IDs. It was a big enough zoo that it took most of the day to walk around, and there was plenty of places to view. I would highly recommend this stop whenever it opens!
Friendly staff and the price reasonable. The zoo isnt very large but exhibit are well place and cared for. It looks as if they or doing some expansion and adding. Its a nice and fun place to take the family or date. There are some shows to attend while there as well. Take a ride on the train and even get a splash . If not from the area Google will probably take you around back and you will be lost and confused. Stay on paisano
My Family and I enjoyed going to El Paso zoo as much as we could the two years we’ve been in El Paso! We’re sure going to miss this city! Thanks so much El Paso zoo for being so great to my family every time we visited. Also, thank you Terri for being amazing and wishing us well on our next journey. You really just spoke volumes of how above and beyond you all go for your visitors. We truly appreciate it, and if we come back to El Paso we’ll be back in for another membership.
Obviously things are overpriced in the same way concert tickets and t-shirts are, but overall a great experience. Friendly staff, plenty of appropriately placed trash cans and a great place to take the kids. The best days are in the middle of the week. Crowd control with a million strollers on the weekend could use some work.
Great new updates to the zoo! I do miss the old stables, but they were replaced with wonderful new additions including a jaguar who has a large enclose with overhead bridges to roam, and a larger space for the wolf that she really seemed to enjoy running through. The flood simulation is great, and the parrots who live near it seem to love when the water starts going.
Really enjoyed my recent visit to the El Paso Zoo with my 2 year old son. There have been many great renovations like the addition of the merry-go-round and the new Leopard exhibit. The staff were really friendly and the kids play area is nice and clean when taking a break with your little one. The merry-go-round and train costs extra ($2/ticket) but are worth it to fully experience this zoo. It is close to the USA/Mexico border so pay close attention to the signs or you may end on your way to Juarez, MX. Overall great place for a day of fun at an affordable price.
We had such a fun time at the El Paso Zoo. It was very calm and relaxing. We saw all of the animals. The zoo has restaurants and stores to buy drinks and food from but it is very expensive. I paid four bucks for a small water. The exhibits were nice and the staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
Clean, not crowded, plenty of parking, great variety of animals, a cool & unique Chihuahuan desert exhibit. Staff was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hours I spent here with visiting my brother
My family and I had an awesome time at the May the 4th event. Super cool. Loved that they recognized it. We had a great time.
It was great. Seeing all the animals was fun. Was able to meet Santa at the zoo!
Nice zoo for citys size. Wasnt too crowded today (Thursday, late May). Very reasonable price for admission with seasons passes available and discounts at other zoos.
It was a smaller zoo but had play areas for the kids to cool down, splash pad, tree house, can take your own sack lunch and cooler. I will be taking the kids agian and the staff were super friendly.
Nice, clean, easy to get around. Exhibits are great. There are plenty of food options indoor or grab and go. I recommend for families and groups. Staff was courteous and efficient. We are members of our city zoo and they allowed reciprocal membership.
Awesome new Chihuahuan Desert exhibit! Winter is a great time to go since it isnt crowded and the animals are more active when its not so hot. Also the new obstacle course looks really fun! Its $6-$8 to try it out.
The Zoos layout is easy to navigate, its not the biggest zoo but for the price it is well worth it. Several locations for refreshments and activities for children. Definitely enjoyed the variety of animals from the Americas Asia and Africa. There is also an aviary with several bird species.
The zoo is much improved from even as recent as a couple years ago, the exhibits have grown! Unfortunately there is not much catered for visitors looking to avoid the weekend crowd, no shows or guides
Wasnt what I expected but was still cool to see
There was a massive remodeling taking place, so that along with the winter weather had quite a few exhibits closed, but yet & still this was one of the best zoo experiences I can say my family and I have had! The animals were so interactive, it was almost as if we were the exhibits and they were checking us out! The Western Diamondback Rattlesnake came from the back of its enclosure to get face to face with us as well as most of the other animals. Excellent zoo, top notch!!
Loved that there was plenty of shade at the park. The splash area was a hit with the kids and was a great way to beat the heat. The playground was another highlight. There are a lot of animals inside so you can stay cool there as well.
I love to take the kids here. The new flash flood simulator was amazing, and comes in handy on hot days! Coming in on the new toll road also made for an enjoyable experience with a lot less traffic. The only thing I would improve or change is hiring police officers to work the front gate along with the security officers.
Had a great time! Definitely recommend going during the off season since its so much quieter than going in summer!
This is maybe the BEST zoo I have ever been to! My kids (age 1, 4, and 10) all loved it too! Almost all the animals were out, there were few people (on a September Thursday), an awesome playground and splash pad. It looks like a new area is opening soon, too. Would definitely visit again in the future.
The zoo was nice I wish they had more shade for the animals. I’m glad they are recycling and teaching kids to take care of the planet.
Great place to spend time with the family. Very clean zoo. Alot of animals on display, some exhibits still under construction. But overall great visit. With our membership its well worth it.
Smaller than the other zoos Ive been to. Was also about half the price. Was very clean, had a nice layout and a nice variety of animals. The only exhibit I didnt like was the elephants. They were separated and didnt appear happy or very healthy.
Fun for families and kids of all ages. They have quite a few Meet the keeper events throughout the day where you can see the zookeeper feed a certain animal. Very interesting!
Had fun with the family it’s getting very nice on the new edition there adding. Well worth every dollar can’t wait to come back to see the edition.
I had an awesome time here. Very relaxing, and it was very informative as well. The bird show here was so, so cool. All the birds were a joy to watch.
This was my second visit to the zoo in more than 10 years. This zoo has been growing a lot and you can see it from its exhibitions. Just make sure to plan ahead and bring something to cover yourself from the sun. Is a good exercise to go see the whole zoo.It is nice to see this zoo grow.
Very nice zoo. Small, but it is set up very nice. Noticed a bunch of new exhibits being worked on, so am looking forward to seeing the improvements when they are done. Food concessions are a bit pricey, and L & J is just right around the corner....so, next time we will wait to eat.
Really nice place for the kids. The zoo is expanding and has some nice events on the holidays, giraffe feeding is awesome. There are a few suggestions I would make: clean/replace some of the glass dividers (specifically the sea lion glass is impossible to see through), a vendor or two on normal weekends might keep people at the zoo longer.
I love the El Paso Zoo and it is great that they are starting to update it! It is looking really good and I cannot wait to go visit. I recently was here helping work on the sea lion exhibit and helping get the feeding pool ready and they definitely care a lot about all of the animals here and really want the public to interact as much as possible with them!
Fun place! Not crowded, nice views of animals, easy to walk around and push a stroller/wheelchair.A couple empty exhibits and missing signs.Couldnt see the sun bear ️.Overall, thoroughly enjoyable!
Outstanding zoo they just opened the new added area and its so beautiful they added jaguars and wild cats! The awesome climbing obstacle course is so fun! And cheap too without a time limit ! Would recommend
My family enjoyed it so very much. Our town doesnt have a zoo no where as big. I thought the prices are great!
Fun fun place to take the kids or even a date. I always have fun coming here, especially when they hire me for entertainment!
My family and I come to El Paso for the Holidays every year and today was our first time to El Paso Zoo. We were all impress. Well kept, clean and not crowded. zookeepers are very responsive, informative and kind. Must be the weather but all the animals were very active except the bear...lol
So many animals were out and in the water tonight! Was really neat to see....
Growing into a beautiful zoo. Its is awesome and fun for everyone to enjoy. Can wait for the Chiuahuan Desert section to open.
I work for a construction company and we are building new additions to the zoo. The new habitats are going to look super when we finish. I personally love going to the zoo and cant wait to see the new exhibits. Its a great family destination or place to take a date.
This is a pretty good zoo with a great layout. I highly recommend trying catch the giraffe feeding times. It can get hot here so consider water bottles, you can refill them at the drinking fountains.
Very nice zoo. Some of the attractions were closed because of making it nicer for the animals. But that was okay.
We love this zoo. We received a free year pass from ACS and we want at least 2 times a month. It maybe small but my kids loved it. My only problem is only one time did we see the male sea lion trainer and he was the best. Sushi was my kids favorite reason for going and as we went the trainers seemed to make the show more and more bland and unappealing. The man was very good with the crowd and sushi. Plenty to do. My youngest was typically done after 4 hours once it hit nap time but my oldest could have went for hours. They loved the train, gift shop was not to badly priced but I mean it is a gift shop. We went to almost all the events. Just a great little place to go with the family or anyone really. We have since moved and really miss having this get away on the weekends. When we left they were adding attractions so I hope it has only improved!
Amazing best place to visit I recommend the memberships if you plan going more than once a year. One time payment and free for the year. food is a little bit pricey but good. People Are Awesome there the employees and the volunteers.
We are zoological society members. We always enjoy our zoo visits. The giraffe encounter is the best.
The exhibits are good. A lot of construction going on and some exhibits were not open. They have a nice play area and splash area for kids so bring attire to get wet in because it can get hot.
Its a decent zoo. Animals are unpredictable so there might be days were you might get to see all of the animals and others where they might be hidden. Its a good family friendly activity. I recommend it. There is a big tree house section where kids can run and play. Very entertaining.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have done a lot of zoos. My favorite is the New Orleans Zoo which one needs an entire day to seeThe El Paso Zoo is located a few paces from the Mexican border. They offer military and senior citizens discounts. You have never been hot until you are El Paso hot. Thats why the devil left. Lol!Its a great bang for the buck. I only had one frown and its not the entrance fee. If you go on a week day, you can have the splash pad to yourself. We let the kids get wet in their clothes.Dont worry! Here one dries really fast. The bird show was worth the admission by itself and the keepers stop to answer questions. This is a must do. Suggest that you go in the morning, as its really hot there.
We saw 99% of the animals. Bring your own food and water!!!Our food at the cafe was good, but it took a long time to make and was way over priced.
Its a nice zoo, I just feel that the habits are smaller compared to other zoos. People were pretty friendly as well and it was fairly clean.
Great place to go visit and see wild animals. Also, they are constantly expanding so if you now and a year later again, most likely youll find something new.
Cool animals to see and very fun. Good food too
Family friendly, small enough to not feel rushed. Bathrooms need some maintenance, some sinks didnt work, missing soap dispensers, etc. Some enclosures were very nice, others could use some improvement.
The new Chihuahuan Desert area is a great addition and the Copper Canyon Ropes Course is great for kids of any size. Turning the splash pad into a snowy play area for Santa at the Zoo was a nice touch, all of the kids loved it.
Great zoo! And it will only get better after the construction is done. Even with the construction going on there is still lots to do and see!
I love our zoo, the El Paso Zoo. I love to just go there to collect myself and relax. Everyone there are so helpful and friendly.
We love the improvements! Cant wait to see it in a year.
We recently purchased the membership and the kids love being able to come whenever we want. finally went in to the water section and the kids loved bowling able to touch and play with different things, they even experienced a rainfall.
My Son and I had a Great time at Boo at the Zoo event 2018
Great zoo. Small but well presented attractions and affordable. Takes about 2 hours to see everything.
Overall the zoo here is okay, nothing special. A nice way to get out and visit the animals.
Nice zoo. Not too big, but definitely worth it.
This zoo has expanded so much and continues to grow. The animals look healthy and zoo keepers do a great job at maintaining the area.
Awesome place to visit with family or by yourself. Very educational even without talking with staff, you can read the signs and learn alot .
The whole experience was amazing! A few anima look s werent out because of the cooler weather, but there were a whole lot of animals out! The zoo is well planned. We had so much fun walking the map they have planned for you to see everything. Cant wait to come back!
This is a very nice zoo. May be slightly on the smaller side, but, every square inch of this place is used to its fullest extent. There is a large selection of animals with huge variety. The lion exhibit was wonderful. I look forward to coming back in the future.
We love going to the zoo here. My little one really enjoys it. Though, choose your times to go wisely due to the high temps. Overall, it is a very enjoyable time, just plan ahead, bring some snacks, drinks and enjoy a few hours of family and animals time. The new area that just opened with the carousel is really nice. Be warned, if you are going to take pics with the cement elephants touch them first, they get very hot and will burn you. Other than that, we love our little zoo.
My 10 year old loves it and all the animals! The water park is great and staff are super friendly! I just wish the zoo was bigger!
Love the fact u can actually see almost everything in one day, especially if you have an itinerary! Its not as big as NYCs Bronx Zoo but is still beautiful and entertaining for the little ones. We fed a giraffe and the costs to participate in certain activities wasnt so bad!!!
Had a good time at the zoo again. This time I got to see the bird show, the giraffe and ocelot exhibits.
Small zoo but very nice for kids and family. You get to really see the animals up close without the hassle of a big city zoo in which case youd be lucky to even access the exhibit without a second layer of ticketing. Affordable memberships.
It definitely was better than what I expected. The new addition is nice the old section not nice at all. Also they should try to keep the aquarium clean, cant see anything through green glass.
Beautiful, but a lot of the animals were unavailable and looked to be old and injured or in pain.
Is a very good place to go with the family they have a splash area, playground for the kids. And is very relaxing.
Always love the zoo. Def a must see if visiting el paso or if youre local.
I see the 5 star reviews and I just dont get it. Did I visit on an off day? Or perhaps my expectations were to high. The entire zoo just looked so sad!!! Let me start by saying that I havent visited since I was a child, I am 31. So I was super excited to visit because Ive heard of all the expansions and remodeling they have been doing. We headed straightaway to see the African exhibit, the giraffe so beautiful and majestic, it broke my heart to see its enclosure so close to the damn freeway!! Poor thing forever hearing the sound of passing cars. The tiger seemed thin and malnourished (unless Im missing something, Im no tiger expert). We then headed to the sea lion exhibit and the water was so murky you couldnt see him ( there was a sign stating the water had just be cleaned and thats why there was no visibility it also stated that the cleaning is safe for the sea lion). The saddest part for me was the elephant exhibit. The poor thing was stuck doing repetitive behavior, swaying back and forth. The zoo just wasnt for me. On a positive note the staff was very warm and friendly. And my daughter really enjoyed the new playground. Its really beautiful and it was our favorite part of our visit
Great place for the entire family. Zoo is well kept and the exhibits are really nice.
Decent zoo for the area we are in. Most of the animals were hidden/sleeping. Some of the exhibits were dirty (with random trash) ESPECIALLY the sea lion one. That one was actually really really gross. The glass was disgusting to the point you couldn’t even see through it :( If you look HARD ENOUGH you can see the outline of the sea lion in both photos.Overall it’s a nice way to spend 2-3 hours or your day. We went on a Saturday and I’m so surprised that EVERYTHING was basically closed. No drink or food stands, and didn’t really see any workers. Didn’t seem like very interactive with kids or their guests.
Fantastic zoo! However, please plllleeeeease PLEASE improve the poor sea lions home. Small bit of advice- no more additions are needed, just improve on what you already have. I have loved coming here for the past 28 years, thank you for all the memories!
Such a huge change from the past few years! Once the chihuahuan desert opened up, the zoo looked amazing. The jungle gym was a huge hit with my 2 kids. One area for children 4 and under and the adult one has 2 levels! The zoo finally had sea lion shows as well as orangutans feeding. Huge difference! Hope the zoo gets more attractions in the near future, but as a long time zoo member, I finally feel its worth the trip to come and spend the day at the El Paso zoo!
Our children love the zoo. We got a pass and it has been well worth it.
Good zoo, if you live in El Paso and have kids the yearly family membership the playground is awesome! If youve been to big city zoos you wont be impressed. Not that they dont have a good array of animals but its just not as diverse as other bigger zoos
Tremendous, was lovely to see all the animals that were situated. Was also great to know certain facts about each animal
We had a great time at the zoo so much fun and see
I love this zoo! It isnt too big; you can easily get through it in 2-3 hours. Always activities going on. The new Chihuahuan Desert addition is amazing!
Loved the place!! Our girls really enjoyed it! Nice and clean
Love going to the zoo on quite daysAny day during the week while school is in.
A great place to visit in El Paso. Watch out for directions by google maps; it took us to two different employee entrances until we found the right one on our own. Wear sunscreen for sure. Lots of fun animals to see.
Great zoo my daughter loves it
We love to visit the beautiful animals.
As a family we frequent the zoo almost monthly. This zoo is very well kept and the staff is friendly. I really enjoy the meet the trainer shows that they put on daily. There is a new exhibit that is being built and I am excited to see the new animals. The zoo isnt too big nor is it too small. It takes about 3 hours to walk through. They also have a splash pad open during the summer and a huge playground for kids. Definitely a place to visit if you are in town and want to enjoy yourself. It is close to the highway and about 3 minutes to I-10.
Had a great time.
Worth giving it a try! It has change quite alot the past years it feels completely new!
It was a really unique experience, the zoo keepers and trainers are friendly and the elephant workout was awesome
We had a good time, just like any zoo expect the long walks and excited children. Its the perfect tool to use if you want your little ones to take a nap afterwards and you will most likely join them.
Great animal exhibits with new animals to see and fun things to do there. Always new things to do and new exhibits. Always changing for the better. Staff is friendly and informative. This is a Great place to go spend a day.
Its really nice compared to how it used to be. Quite small but fun indeed.
Few animals out because of the cold, but I liked the layout and there are a lot of Pokestops to hit
