Fun place for kids and teenagers! The staff is friendly and there is engagement with the skaters as they do skate contests throughout the night. It is packed with skaters which made it much more fun for me and my kids. The vibe is positive!

Family skating on Fridays from 6-10 PM. **Military discount. If you have your own skates, bring them. The rental skates are older and 3 of my kids had HUGE blisters to the bottom of their feet. The skate floor was not the “typical” skating hardwood floor, but rather looked like pegboard, and when you fall, hands definitely get pegboard marks. Music was all “explicit” and was not family friendly, especially for the younger kiddos. Pizza and sodas are “brought” in. Otherwise, they had vending machines. Could use updating!!

Looking for a fun party locale?! You have to try Skate San Diego in El Cajon! The staff were incredibly hospitable, & went above & beyond to assist us! We were thrilled with the party package, too! It included the use of a party room with party essentials(plates, cups, utensils, table decor), pizzas, pitchers of soda, skate rentals, 3+ hrs of skating, song requests, & they even honored our birthday girl on the rink with a song! I recommend dressing cool as it is a workout & bringing extra water as you will need the hydration. Also, I was glad I purchased some LED eyeglasses from the 99 cent store for our guests, they loved them. Hope you get to go roller skating there sooooon!

I really like this rink. We found the staff to be amazing and helpful. They will even go out on the rink and give tips. My daughter has just discovered her love of roller blading and the staff was so generous to help her. We brought our own skates but her friend did the rentals and it was fine. The skates are not the newest but they work. They spent enough time with him to find the right pair. I only wish they were open for open skate more. Oh, loved the music also! Great time over all.

Reminds me of back in the day roller rinks I used to skate at! Sweet and friendly staff! Fun folks to skate with! Could use some AC so when you skate you are cooled off. Maybe a little better strobe lights? And more teen top 40 music? Overall a nice fun place and GREAT STAFF!

We went here for my nieces birthday party and almost immediately knew we should have went to the skating ring in linda vista. This place needs to be renovated to say the least. Its really run down and dirty. The floor is a weird peg board tile that is not smooth at all. It would be suitable for roller derby or something like that. Luckily we had a Groupon so we didnt pay the $24 a person entry fee they tried to charge us. The kids that run the place seem to be cool kids but they probably should chill on the making out with each other while theyre at work.Over all the kids had fun and so did the adults. Just be prepared for a run down old skating ring.

Need to know information below!Great idea, but not a great execution. I have no idea how they are still in business. It breaks so many health codes that Im worried for the health of many of the youth I brought here. Its dirty and poorly made. They fix their breaks with duck tape. RollerSkateLand was soo much better when they were open years ago.It all started at the front desk. They didnt have the pizza deal they said then changing there mind? What kind of business does that? The admission was $4 for chaperones to just sit there. That was after we got it discounted from the $8 admission. Never had a place do this before. One of there workers couldnt be older than 13 which was another red flag for us.There is no air conditioning either. I guess thats a great business plan for the guests to stay for a short amount of time. The skates are old and they give different types for a single pair of shoes. Its weird. There are barely any places to sit either. The workers were okay, but didnt seem to care about anything. As someone who has worked on the inside of businesses, this one was one of the worst around. I definitely wont come back here. I think many others would feel the same way about it after there first time visiting.Hopefully this review helps!

The staff is really friendly and the place is clean and a good price but the rink itself is a little off. For one, I think it’s meant more for hockey than recreational use. It’s certainly not the smooth glossy floor you’re used to skating on. Also, the skates themselves aren’t the best of quality. I think they just need to update those, which I know costs a lot, but I’d come here far more often if it was a bit easier to skate here!

The lack of a smooth wood floor is my biggest complaint. The tiles they use instead are somewhat uneven and they rattle your feet a bit, which just makes the whole experience a bit less comfortable. Not much seating or storage for your gear while you’re skating. Plus the fans aren’t really strong enough, so it gets kind of stuffy. Still a fun experience to go skating for an hour, but just not the same as a classic wood skating rink.

Had a decent experience. But you really get what you pay for. I have been to multiple roller rinks and you can tell the difference of quality. The first thing I noticed were the skates. Not the best skates, I have blisters from the soles being old and was very uncomfortable. Second was the rink itself. The hardwood is a definite must from now on when I skate. The smoothness and overall quality is much better on hardwood. Lastly, the overall environment was very poor. Poor choice of music all night. The games were a good way to get everyone to have fun, but at the end you just want to skate. Okay experience but at the end you get what you pay for.

Its great that skating rinks still exist. Its a dying past-time. Thanks to Skate San Diego for keeping it going. While Im glad it exists, the quality of the venue seems to have a lot of opportunity moving forward. The floor surface is not a traditional skating surface and the venue as a whole seems to cater more towards competitive roller hockey players rather than family and friends just skating for fun. At my last visit (for a childs birthday party) I was bothered that only one of four sound system speakers was functional. Also, I didnt like seeing so many things in storage, including literally piles of boxes and junk. The price is reasonable. The skate rental room stinks to high heaven. And you should give it a try.

I only come here to participate in roller derby practice or scrimmages, Ive never attended a public skating session. Like most skating rinks, the building appears to be older, and a little dingy. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The floor is kind of a rubbery sport court, youll definitely want harder wheels on this surface.

This is the worst roller skating rink I have ever been to and Ive been to a lot. It was so unsafe. There is no carpeting around the rink, just concrete. There is nothing to slow down skaters when they get off the rink. There is a PLYWOOD ramp. It is way too dark to see and there is barely any seating. I had to sit on the floor to put on my skates. The floor to skate on is like pegboard. It vibrates your feet when you skate. There were no employees monitoring the rink. I saw people texting and skating, laying on the floor and saw two different people walking around with shoes on the rink. While I was there a woman was pushed down by a girl that couldnt slow down coming down the plywood ramp. She broke her wrist. The staff there did nothing to help her. They didnt even have a first aid kit.The rental skates were disgusting and horrible to skate with. I complained to them and they said they know they are horrible, they were all donated. If you are charging me $10 to get in the door I think you could afford to buy some better skates.Unbelievable that this place is still in business. It is just a matter of time before a kid gets seriously injured.

Was not impressed with the facility nor were the rental skates even remotely close to being suitable for issue. The rink is a great size. Music plays from one end and is loud enough to be heard from the far end. I rented roller blades and they were of the worst condition. I approached the rental skate desk and was told I should have gotten their earlier to get the good blades. My 7 year old even thought it was a dirty place. Overall I would recommend going to a different location/facility. This place leaves a lot to be desired.

Skate San Diego is a place i’ve been skating at for a year and a half now. I go every week, sometimes twice a week. All of the staff members are absolutely amazing and give sweet advice on how to skate, and they keep everything under control. The rink is not too crowded and not too little either. The floor of the rink is meant for hockey, but it’s still able to get used to. It’s a great place to have birthday parties, and to go with friends. Unexperienced skaters can still learn to skate on this floor, but it may be a little difficult. The whole rink gives off a really happy and friendly vibe. Sure it isn’t very fancy and have giant TV screens, but the rink is still quite amazing. The lockers are a bit difficult, but you can get help with them. Here’s a tip — open the locker, put your things inside, and then close it with two quarters. Then to open it, use the key that you take when you first open the locker, then take your things out.I also would suggest taking a backpack, quite handy. I always take one. They serve pizza for every public skate, only two dollars for a drink and a slice of pizza! (the pizza is really good by the way.)They also play really good music. Really gives off 80s vibes as well, but they also play currently popular music. You also can request songs. If you go to Skate San Diego, you wont regret it.

My daughter wanted to do something different for her birthday. Shes getting older now, and birthday parties are too little kid-ish So instead she decided she wanted to take some friends to open skating. I bought the deal through groupon a month prior to when we planned on going, and had gone to their website multiple times to look at pictures, reviews, etc. Nowhere on their website did it block out the date we were planning to go. It did, however, say no open skating Nov 8, 2017 so I didnt think much about it. When 6 rolled around, I gathered all the girls up and we got ready to leave. But when I looked up their address to give to the parents, it said they were closed. When I called, they informed me that someone had rented the rink for a private event, but it didnt say that anywhere on their website and I had just been on it the day prior. I even went back and checked it after I got off the phone, and there was no notice anywhere. My daughter was extremely disappointed, and ended up crying which only made things worse because she was with all of her friends that had been talking about how excited they were to go skating for the first time. I am in no way upset that someone booked the rink. What Im upset about is that we planned this for a month, and they couldnt even put notice up that public skating wasnt available. We could have easily just changed the date had we any way of knowing. Instead, my daughter ended up in tears. With how difficult it was just to get her friends all together on one day, we wont have this opportunity again and unfortunately will be refunding the groupon. Its just all around disappointing.

Good music & they take requests while your out there skating your heart out on Friday & Saturday nights. They have birthday rooms, & actual roller hockey teams that play here. Hmm, well, where do I start off. When you first arrive you are sent down into a red hallway that later proved to be the entrance to the depths of hell. The shoelaces were extremely long and tripped me on the rink. And the wall literally shocks you every time you grab onto it! Now lets talk about the floor, if you would even call it that. Its literally just cement with some bumby covering. It doesnt make for a smooth ride at all, more like a demolition derby. THE EMPLOYEES are out of control. One was skating backwards at 40 mph and smashed my friends to smitherines!

I appreciate the fact that the rink provides a place for professional and aspiring professional skaters to train. While they are new and have not honed the art of catering to the public, they are not attempting to top you off . Despite the fact that clientelle is typically rude, disrespectful does not comply to simple rules and requests they still open their doors to the public, this giving san diego a different location to roller skate and a more economical choice. I have no doubt that of they had more security guards and a more supportive community they would flourish in every facet including customer service.
