Great experience at Effing Brew... I did not expect my experience to be as great as it was. The beers were significantly better than I would have expected. The coffee stout and the belgian are definitely on par with some of the best in the nation. The two tiny strips of bacon on the cheesburger were my only complaint. Service from the Bartenders was stellar! Then... homemade BlackBerry Cobbler... what! that is impossible to find anywhere and it was delicious! Can not wait to come back! Perfect Friday night experience when away from home!

Good burger, but poor service to start with. I was in the outdoor seating, the wait staff was chatting it up with tables around me but I must have been invisible. 20 minutes in and newly seated people next to me got immediate service. Finally had to go inside and ask at the bar if I could get served. From there it was ok. The beers were uneven in quality, I had a set of tasters.

Took a road trip and picked this place to eat. GREAT choice. Loved the food. Out of a few things we wanted but understandable in these times. Enjoyed what we got.... which was A LOT.

It is awesome to see a microbrewery in this town. It adds up to the good progressive vibe of this city. I had two of their beers and they were pretty good. Tyrant blood which is an rye IPA, 7.2 %. One can taste the rye right away. It was not full body, but well balanced. Nice kick at the end. The Don’t Red On Me brew was a nice red rye. Also 7.2 % and hops forward. If I were to rate this microbrewery solid on beers, I would give them a four. But, I also had their food. I was really excited about the Mac and cheese. It is described as having bacon, truffle oil and portabello mushroom. I got pasta for mac and cheese. It was not what I was expecting. The fries tasted as if they were not made in house either. On a good note, the onions rings were out of this world. The butter was just right. Thin and crispy. I will definitely come back for them. While this microbrewery has a lot more to offer, I am so happy they are doing well in this town. Oh. Victoria the server was awesome! She is a keeper. The experience was a lot better because of her.

Had a great time! The game room brought back old memories. Guitar hero, foosball, etc. Good times!

Consistently out of items on the menu, which the wait staff doesn’t mention until you’re about to order. That isn’t a staff issue, that is a management issue. Beyond that, the employees are treated poorly. Give your business to someone else.

Dont waste your time for a gamble at what youll get. Whether it was Chicken that wasnt plucked fully when it came out, hair in the drinks, to bugs in the drinks, and the food being baseline mediocre and overpriced, there was also poor management in regards to social distancing guidelines and mask wearing that is REQUIRED for the state of Illinois.

The staff behind the bar was incredibly self involved and knew very little about actual tending bar. The beer was mediocre and found myself choosing from the mainstream beers on the right. Additionally, the bathroom smelled of a sanitary line as a result of obvious sewage problems. The only reason why I’m giving it three stars is because the food was pretty darn delicious.

Id absolutely go back. I had a cheeseburger and chips. Both were good enough, but not the reason Im writing this review. The beer was shockingly good. I tried 4 and all had good flavor. The pecan beer was rich.

We had reservations for party of 10 and they wasnt prepared for us at all. They had put us in the back room and it took us 30 minutes to get a drink and the bar was right there but they didnt use it. The waitress was trying but they ended up taking her pad that she was to put her orders in on and then it all got messed up. One of our friends ordered the fish and it was burnt. Someone ordered the wings and said they was good. Overall experience wasnt the best I probably will try it again at lunch I heard it is better.

Arrived for lunch with coworkers and waited to be seated for around 5 minutes. Unfortunately not even an acknowledgement from the staff, so we sat ourselves. Were then ignored for another 10 minutes before we decided to leave since we were on our lunch break. Staff were uninterested in recognizing us, so I am not sure how long we would have waited.Did have a very nice SS Brewtech brew house, however.

Incredible!! The portions are insanely huge! Pretty sure i could split my order with someone else! The turnaround was crazy. I had my meal and was done in less than 30 minutes. The service was the best if u get Sam as a waitress you will be taken care of she is so sweet, and attentive. Im pretty sure I have found my new favorite spot in town

Delicious beers and great atmosphere. Cade is an awesome guy, helped me pick some fantastic beers and had a great conversation with him. Eric the owner is passionate about his business and it shows in how he and his employees treat their customers. Tory is better at darts than you think, don’t let her hustle you. 10/10 going to be back next time I’m in town.

Top notch! I always like when the brew master/owner (on a Sunday afternoon) can come out and make time to speak with patrons. It puts a much better feel to the visit. The beer, great flavor, & very appealing. Youve got a winning combo. I hope to make it back to Effingham, so I have more time to enjoy Effing Brewing. Great job!

Excellent service and food.

We were really looking forward to eating here. I ordered the BBBLT. Bacon, Bacon and more Bacon Lettuce and Tomato. After i ordered I was informed I only got a half sandwich and a cup of soup. That was ok, I like French onion soup and that was on the menu. I got my half sandwich and it has two and a half pieces of what looked like microwaveable bacon. Very disappointing. Service was not the greatest. Our waiter barely spoke and was not friendly. Doubtful we will be back

Josh is an EXCELLENT bartender!! Very knowledgeable. Met 2 of the Brewers/owners while we were here. Food smelled amazing but unfortunately we ate before coming so didnt get to try any. Will have to come back I guess

I went in Thursday (4/26/18) for dinner, and had the best fish and chips Ive ever had in my life!! My bartenders were Josh and Jacob, both were absolute rock stars!! Both were very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. This place surprised me, it had big city style but small town class with great beer and reasonable prices. I will definitely be back if I ever pass thru again!

Their beers were good. Atmosphere great. The place was busy. They seated us in the beer brewing room. Very cool. The portions huge. Prices also a bit high. Overall pleased and will go back.

Great beers! Great food! We had the hazy IPA! And it was one of the best Ive had. Had Mikes Burger and it was spectacular! You must try the beer cheese sauce, it was great! Also had the stuffed mushrooms appetizer and it was wonderful. Tried a flight and didnt have a bad beer in the bunch! This place knows how to brew great beer! If youre near Effingham, this is a place you shouldnt miss!

Service was on point. Our server was knowledgable about the brews and helped find something we would enjoy. The food was excellent; everyone enjoyed their meal and the stuffed mushrooms were hands down the best I have had. One complaint is that the beer list wasnt being updated with what beers were currently in stock; many that I wanted to try based on what was listed on the chalkboard werent available, and Id like if they would just erase the ones that had run out. Overall the environment was very relaxed with a cozy vibe.

The food was pretty good. The pricing was typical for a micro brewery hipster establishment. They have the normal menu items you find in most bars. They have not yet started pricing their own beer at this point. The logo for the place was very clever.

Delicious beer and food. I had the Tyrants Blood and the chicken sandwich with bacon on sourdough. I would ask to come back the next time we are in Illinois. Service was excellent. I left my wallet and they helped me retrieve it on a day when they had not opened yet. Very impressed with the whole experience.

Fantastic food and service....repeatedly! Impressive since its so new. Weve found our new favorite restaurant in town....HOWEVER not so much recently. Visited the last 2 times and disappointed.May need some time to adjust to keeping up on service and timing of food. Going to wait a few months for another visit.

Great brew pub open now for about 4 months! Ever Vigilant coffee stout was excellent. There is a total of about 5 or 6 beers brewed on site. Also got the Chef Salad and was tasty and had a nice combo of avacado, egg, and meats.

Great beer! The pretzel appetizer was awesome. Great atmosphere. Meat was tender and juicy. Definitely going to be a place to come back to.

First time going there. The onion tower was so big that I could not even eat my sandwich. Service was great. The place is too dark. Need to turn lights up a little. I will go back.

Excellent service, we walked in with a party of 8 that quickly grew to 12. The staff was extremely accommodating, one of the children with us spilled a glass of water, and they handled it like pros. Again the staff was very friendly!!! Get the Fish and chips with the Golden IPA.

Really wanted this place to be better, but it is definitely just a place to come and check out and then not go to again. We had a table of 8 and service was very slow and our waiter was rude and had to be reminded to bring drinks, straws twice, and we had a plate of food not come out until 10 minutes after everyone else’s came out. Servers name was Tyler and if you get him I’d ask for another server. Would not recommend.

Quite possibly the best Rueben I’ve ever had! Double decker, with perfectly sliced corn beef, sauerkraut, and TI dressing. Phish tacos also excellent, as were the house chips.

We went in with a group of 6 on a Saturday night at around 6pm. There were two tables available with at least 4 seats (one with 5). The hostess did not give us an approximate time of when a table might be open but just simply told us that they can’t seat 6. That’s it. Nothing more nothing less. And then she proceeded to walk away from the hostess stand.

We stood in the doorway for 10 minutes at 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon. It was not busy, yet no one even acknowledged us. The bartender and the waitress both looked at us standing there waiting to be seated and no one said a word. Maybe we will try again, but first impressions are pretty important.

If you love craft beer this is the place for you. 24 types on tap. Decent apps, sandwiches and entrees. Good service, enjoyed.

I have never had a good experience at the Effing Brew. Ive been multiple times trying to give it another chance, just thinking its because its a newer establishment. Whether it be the service thats horrible or the food (most of the time its both). Last time I gave it a shot, some friends wanted to go so I said why not. My friend, half way thru her salad found a latex glove in the bottom of her plate. They comped her meal thank goodness, and the chef continued happen, but it happens every single visit.

Was very busy but definitely worth the wait. Food was delicious and you get a lot of food for your money

First time here. The service and food was excellent. While there the co-owner Colby came around to check on everything. I thought that was a very nice touch. We will definitely will be going back!

They started out GREAT but their quality has declined and they have raised their prices. Very dissapointed.

Stayed in Effingham for the night while traveling solo for work. Saw they had a brewery. Gave it a shot and was blown away. Tried 4 of their 6 beers and they were some of the best I’ve had. Jeremiah and Mike I believe were bartenders; awesome guys to talk to. Hope to see their beers back in Ohio.

Came up Effingham from the south good place to eat you can see them making the beer you should go beer beer theres about 42 degrees Fahrenheit so if youre ever up in Effingham I would stop in its on Jefferson Street in Effingham Illinois

Checked out both Effing Brew and Gopher Grill last week. Effing Brew has good atmosphere and good beer. Service was slow but they are new.
