Quaint and old-fashioned motel. A classic. Bathrooms could use a renovation, though. Toilets should be replaced. Theyre so scratched up that they look dirty. Small and turn of the century bathrooms are tacky.

My air conditioner went out at my home. I was going to stay at a new hotel but someone recommended Echo. I went and it was out dated and there were shady people walking around outside all night. I didnt feel comfortable. For the same price, I couldve stayed at a newer one with better secure parking.

We have stayed here several times and it used to be decent. HOWEVER its turned into a bad place to stay. 9-3-20 we got a room for 2 nights. We get in the 1st room turn on the lights and ROACHES scattered EVERYWHERE. So they moved us to another room in the inner part of the hotel so we couldnt see our vehicle this time. Well well qake up to our barlight on the front of our truck missing. Went to the office they have cameras but they dont work! So they moved us again to the front of the hotel and gave us a discount for 1 night. The staff said that they have been having trouble with a group of people that stay there. So if they know this get rid of them! Needless to say we wont be staying there again .

Avoid this place . Its has an musky stinch, it was hot inside the building, AC took forever to cool down the room, stains in odd places and the staff was never at the front desk

The front desk staff was very nice and professional. unfortunately the room smelled terribly of mold and I found a live roach in the bathroom.

Nice folks but the place is in serious need of a revamp. Everything is about 50 years past its prime. When we first arrive at 4 pm, our room was not even cleaned.The pool is sad from a trailer park. The rooms are clean but very dated with hard beds and cheap pillows. The towels are thread bare. They charge you for breakfast. The executive across the street is far better and the same price.

Joe the manager is very attentive, accomadating with great customer service. Breakfast is delicious. Noe the bartender made me a low carb drink that was refreshing on a 106° Texas heat.

The property can certainly use a variety of updates but overall it was a clean facility full of many amenities and you can’t beat and $.99 breakfast and free drinks upon arrival

Room to roam!! HUGE rooms with HUGE walk in closets! This is what it must have been like when America was great. Room for 2 King sized beds! Pool in courtyard. Huge reception area. This place should change its name from Echo to Huge!! Comfortable bed and clean room.

So when we first started staying at the Echo back in 2012, it was clean and the staff were very friendly. Fast forward to Thanksgiving weekend of 2019, weve decided that it will be the very last weekend we will stay there! The rooms were disgusting! There were toe nail clippings along the bed (not ours), carpet looked like it wasnt vacuumed recently, the bed sheets smelled like old wet fabric along the headboard area, the closet smelled like mold and counters tops by the restroom looked like it had not been wiped down. Although the staff were friendly upon check in/out, the experience there was not a great one. It was a great hotel, but needs more attention and upkeep/updates! It really is kind of sad, because my boyfriend and I loved it there!

We always choose The Echo. One reason is because it is convenient to my needs. The service in the restaurant is really good and so is the food. There was a little problem with my room and without incident we were instantly upgraded to a very nice suite at no charge. Everyone here is really friendly. I grew up around here and coming home to visit there is no other choice for us. Great job Echo.

I first had a room outside left of the check in and it was clean but had a smell of old carpet or mold. After just 10 minutes I had a headache. They swapped me out for the tower which was much better and no smells. Looks like they need some upgrades on some rooms.

Good value for Echo Hotel; public library across the street. Hotel is from the 50’s - 60’s but is updated. Staff very attentive. I was close to my business dealings.I would return.

This place is the only place I stay when Im working in the valley. The staff here goes out of their way to make sure you feel at home and do all they can to make sure your stay is comfortable. The rooms are nothing exceptional but they are clean and well maintained. For the price you pay for the rooms you cant expect a resort room but they all have fridges, microwaves, seating b and desks. You really cant ask for more for this price. The neighborhood is nice as well and they have 24/7 security for your vehicles. Id give this place more stars if I could. Oh and they have an on site restaurant and near that has nightly specials and entertainment. What more could ya really ask for. This historic hotel is a must try and you will see why I stay no where else when Im here.

Stayed here a couple of times for different reasons, breakfast is awesome, pool is cool, rooms are nice, and the staff is friendly. I havent had any problems here before, you can enjoy their lunches or breakfast which are both delicious. The dining area is kinda retro looking with weird chairs, but they are comfortable. If you look around the lobby theres a display case with some cool local memorabilia and old money.

Excellent service and wonderful food. There was a great variety of side dishes and main foods . All were delicious except the dressing for the Turkey. No taste! Not Expensive, either.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Room smelt a little funky but went away after a while. I was very upset and disappointed to find 2 cockroaches in the room. I assume they are coming in from the open panel in the ceiling.

Very quiet place to rest plus they also have an excellent breakfast and lunch area along with the club for music entertainment. Its affordable to stay there.

Stayed 4 nights and attended a family memorial dinner. Had a wonderfully positive experience. Arranging the dinner with the front office was easy, dining wait staff were so friendly as some of them remembered my mother coming for breakfast/lunch. There were about 40 of us coming and going; everyone was so helpful. Enjoyed the peace and quiet seclusion of the inner courtyard in the evenings. Eating their terrific .99 breakfast was a great place to begin each morning together. Good memories during a sorrowful part of life. Thank you!

Five days here...a very nice stay. The room was great; the customer service: excellent; and the atmosphere fantastic. The large lobby/dining room area with piped in Sinatra/Louis Armstrong music is like a time travel experience. Loved the cool, darkened bar. The coupons we got for a 99 cent breakfast and two free drinks in the lounge were icing on the cake. Price-wise it cost us about half for each days stay that some nearby newer hotels were asking for. Recommended highly.

I used to come here for lunch back in 1999 and this place was legit. It looks a little runned down but they have made some updates. At first I was a little reluctant about the place but it was clean the breakfast was actually really good and just a buck if you choose from the right menu. Door didn’t close right and they had signs all over about not to answe the door of strangers knock in the door. We didn’t have any issues so I guess we passed the test

Went to the buffet for Turkey and ham. After eating my salad i go get Turkey and ham and they were out. How u run out of food at a buffet. They replaced with nasty uncooked chicken. Very disappointed with how they handle the buffet. This second time they run out of what the special is.

I was here attending a Rotary event. The inside of the hotel is very nice and well maintained. We ate lunch from the buffet and the food was really good and fresh! I definitely recommend this place for events!

I go regularly for happy hour at least once a week. Also went for breakfast the other day&it was awesome. Bar isnt too noisy & bartenders are friendly. Good atmosphere imo.

The place was really great, outside it looked a little but once you get inside the hotel it looks beautiful! They have a great bar area as well seems like a little piece of Austin here in the valley. The lady bartender was really kind and friendly. The rooms were great the beds were really comfortable and the maids did a great job. Its location is really great its in the center of town to you have access of everything. I would recommended it to anyone wanting to visit the valley.

Very clean room. Very nostalgic retro Hotel, well kept. Had an excellent supper in the restaurant. They give a complimentary drink coupon and breakfast coupon for $0.99, when you get a room. Check out the incredible memorabilia display in the lobby. Chick Perez was as helpful as staff can be. Thanks Chick! My steaks have never tasted better!Highly recommend this place. Im batting a thousand for South Texas hospitality.

This place is awesome! A view into the past with good food, nice courtyard vistas, 1980s prices, and really good service. Very fun experience - look for the Freddy Gonzales tribute (Medal of honor recipient) and 1950s phone booth.Will definitely go here again and highly recommend.

Asked for more towels and they couldn’t provide any. We also walked in to our room and there was a bad smell. And the parking lot was very dark and sketchy.

We had a Gideon dinner here and it was served to us. Great service at all times. The roast beef was very tender. It was all good, even the key lime pie for dessert.

Meal was very salty in my opinion especially the roast beef and green beans. Dessert table was totally out of all pies on my first two trips. Table attendants were virtually nonexistent. No coffee was served like past years you had to help yourself.

Its costly for the area, winter Texas stay here so its got it ALL.

The rooms are not clean everyday well. The ladies just come and clean minimum. The forget to take the trash out and changed towels at least this is what happened to me

Had a meeting for recognition for the Rotary Student of the Month. This event was held in one of the meeting rooms. It was during lunch and we were able to eat off the buffet. Very clean facility and very courteous service as usual.

My job frequently travels to the Rio Grande valley and we always stay at the hotel. They have a friendly knowledgeable and responsive staff. Its usually pretty quiet and comfortable there. The walls are thin make so sure you ask for a room with no neighbors.

I eat at the buffet each week. The food is good. They have remodeled their ballroom. Very nice. Looks great. The bar has a new patio area which is great for mixers. Very affordable.

Not sure about this place. Dark as hell in the lot. Reminded me of a hourly motel?? Rooms are huge. But smells of old..musky smoke. Looked pretty clean but cant really tell since its an older hotel. Did not have breakfast.

Had a mini reunion with friends. Hotel provided a room to have lunch from a great buffet.
