Started out with the bone marrow appetizer. Wonderful, my favorite part of the meal! Then we ordered the quinoa and garlic cakes with sprouts and lemon dijon sauce, and pheasant roasted garlic vegetables and black walnut cream sauce. Chased with Wisco ginger ale and a sour beer. EXCELLENT! Great service too.

Great atmosphere. The falafel and fries were very delicious. My only negative experiences: the place doesn’t have ranch nor honey mustard nor plain mustard, and by “live jazz night” I didn’t think they meant two people doing a jam session. But overall good experience and great food.

Hotel restaurants with great food is a common trend, and The Lakely upholds this tradition to the highest degree. The restaurants theme is bringing the farm straight to table, so traditional Wisconsin meals with a gourmet twist are what one would expect when walking in, and you shouldn’t be disappointed.Spicy-Sour Street Corn was a strong, yet pleasant, way to start a meal, alongside a wholesome tomato centered salad. Our main entrees started with the “Chicken”, which was glazed with oil and butter and then baked in an oven to give it a refreshing crunch that didn’t scream deep-fried greasy. The protein was accompanied with traditional farm veggies like Lima Beans, Mustard Greens, and Onion. The second entree, Chicken Pot Pie, had puff pastry and crust baked to perfection. The chicken left no complaints, but the rest of the filling was not very creative and the carrots were a bit bland for my liking. After our main meal, we ordered Gazpacho for the table to clear our pallets. This was the best Gazpacho I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting, even having lived in Spain for a year. It’s creativity in using peppermint oil and watermelon garnish was delightful and made each bite taste like an orchestra blasting flavor into your mouth at each note. This inspired farm food is perfect for anyone visiting, and please order the Gazpacho, you won’t regret it.

Although the decor and building is very nicely done, that can only get a restaurant so far. Our waitress answered questions about the different cuts of meat with a voice of rather uncertainty, so I chose the chicken. At $27 was surprisingly one of the cheaper items on the menu. The flavor and texture was very good, however the portion size was rather lacking. This was my second visit after being similarly let down on a breakfast sandwich over a year ago.

Great food and atmosphere, you cant go wrong if you are looking for a good meal. We stopped here on the way home for a trip and it was completely worth the short detour off the freeway. We were able to eat on the patio, which has all the charm and ambience you could ask for in an urban setting including 2 fantastic fires and Edison lights hanging on the arbor. Moving on to the menu... there was a good tap beer selection not so huge to be overwhelming but with at least one excellent selection for most Evey taste preference/mood and the cocktail list interesting and drinks were well made. We had the short rib and pot pie and they were both first rate. The only grip is that they do allow smoking on the patio after 9 Id encourage them to ban it completely, or at least wait until after 10, Id take a half a point off for that if I could but not enough to dock a full star.

5 of us from my family ate dinner here recently and the food was unfortunately nothing above average. We each tried something different and no one was enthused about their meal. Cant seem to get a consistent experience. Its beautiful dont get me wrong but one time its all great and the next time the meat is undercooked to the point of the waitress noticing afterwards and the drinks are so peppery theyre undrinkable. Certainly flavor must be experimented with but at some point I feel this place is trying to add things together that have no right being together just to stay hip. Sometimes it hits. Sometimes youve spent EIGHTY dollars on raw peppery gravel.

If you can call ahead, the staff is able to work out a vegan dish or four to be available. Though, vegan is not typically on their menu. However, the staff is much more flexible than that other place across the river. The bar staff are best described as alchemists that can take a suggestion of a feeling and mix your troubles away.

Food is sub par at best. Koldtbord offered good options but very limited servings by Wisco standards. Makes sense why it was so slow on Saturday night dinner rush, the locals must know the drill.

Ive had drinks with friends here a few times, and this is a cool cocktail bar. But this was the first time I had dinner. The seasonal tasting menu was awesome, affordable, and featured seasonal and local ingredients. My favorites were the celery soup, trout with fingerling potatoes, short rib with polenta, and flourless chocolate torte. They also had two highly rated wines at about $10 a glass, Colossal Reserva Red Blend and Stefano Massone Gavi. I definitely recommend.

I wanted this restaurant to be a five in every way. And in most ways, it is. The drink / tap selection is incredible. The ambiance is perfect- we played cards and sipped with friends until midnight on a Tuesday. The service was also great- quick, accurate and very accommodating. The food though- such a missed opportunity. The menu seemed great but both the meatloaf sandwich and the large dinner salad seemed a bit tasteless, straight bland- too much bun and not enough savor. That said, we will most certainly be back. This place has a fantastic hotel and is one menu shakeup away from perfection.

Severely overpriced. While I had the Queen cut prime rib(the King was too expensive), which was really good. It came with a tiny potato and a salad that looked like some type of crabgrass, and had 1 cherry tomato sliced in half. That was $35. My wife had a chicken breast with some type of gravy for $29, she didnt finish it so I didnt want it to go to waste. It was dry and wasnt very good. How about $13 for a Grasshopper?! Some creme de menthe and chocolate chip mint ice cream... just because its expensive doesnt make it better. Our party had 3 couples and the waiter screwed up our bill 3 times, maybe they should write the orders down. Ill never waste my money there again.

Dont go to The Lakely during Restaurant Week unless you have several hours to spend. As I write this we just finished our entree. Weve been here for two hours. The table next to us got up and left after their appetizer saying they could not wait any longer (they were here almost an hour and a half).I dont know if its the Restaurant Week menu that is throwing them off, but be prepared to spend the evening. It will not be a quick experience. To top it all off, our waiter never once apologized for our wait. He knew we were getting to make it to the football game at 7. When he finally dropped our bill off at 7:22pm he made the sarcastic comment I hope you get there before the end of the game. Completely uncalled for.The good news is, their music is awesome.

We went for drinks on a Friday night. The dining room was packed, and the bar as well... The drinks we had were lovely, competently executed, and rather highly priced. I cannot fault the bar staff on this occasion for their relatively prompt service. However, when we returned for brunch Sunday morning, it was clear this establishment suffers the same ill fate as most fine dining establishments... Service was friendly but inconsistent, and quite slow. The side of bacon my partner requested was completely forgotten, and his omelette was both dry and underseasoned (the horseradish hollandaise with his potatoes, however, was magnificent). While my bacon and egg salad was quite satisfactory, and our drinks were, again, beautiful, we walked into a nearly empty restaurant. Further, those excellent drinks, usually prepared and delivered easily before the meal, werent brought to table until several minutes after we were served. I expected a little more at these prices.

I love the Lakely! It is such a cool restaurant with a nice vibe and layout. I’ve been there many times and while everything has been good, it just hasn’t been “exceptional.” I really love their koldtbord more than anything. It’s a brilliant concept however they dropped portion sizes down considerably about a year ago and I wasn’t a fan of that. Our most recent dining experience left A LOT to be desired. We went for the Supper Club event and without going into a ton of detail, booking was an absolute nightmare. They need to fine tune that part of this event as it is severely lacking. This event was also one of my boyfriend’s Christmas presents and I am so disappointed I spent almost $170 (including tip on this dinner.) My boyfriend ordered the rib eye with mustard mashed potatoes and salad. I ordered the lobster with mashed potatoes and salad. Both entrees were grossly overpriced. The ribeye was about 1/4” thick and that may be exaggerating. The lobster was barely 8 bites of food. The mustard mashed potatoes were awesome. The salads were tiny, I think they’re served with more dressing than actual salad and our popovers came out at the end of the meal. Because of the thinness of the steak it had to be sent back for being undercooked as we’d requested medium rare and I’m sure a steak that thin is difficult to cook to order. For these prices though, they shouldn’t be this thin. For dessert we ordered the Schaum Torte and it was very, very bad. I understand the concept, even applaud it but it was a bad choice and our server should have explained what it was as I ordered it for the fancy name. The ice cream drinks were $13 and served in martini glasses! They made a killing in profits there. Our server did a great job but we would never do the supper club night again. While I have been there numerous times with girlfriends, this was my boyfriends first time there and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get him back there again. I think there is lots of potential. I’ve had Chef Nathan’s food in the past prior to his Lakely days and know he is a talented chef but I’m very upset about our supper club experience.

We went to the Lakely in a bit of a rush to get to a performance at the Pablo Center at the Confluence (2 blocks away) so plan to go back for a fuller experience. I had the Boulevardier cocktail (bourbon, sweet vermouth, campari, lemon) and my wife had Lovin’ Bobby Burns (scotch, sweet vermouth, drambuie, bitters, lemon). Both were very good and at $8 a bargain compared to the Twin Cities or either coast. They describe their food at MIDWEST MODERN COMFORT FOOD, I would add chef driven, seasonal, innovative. We had the BEET SALAD (Roasted Square Roots Farm red & gold beets, caramelized onion, Cedar Grove chevre and microgreens in a roasted orange citronette ) and the THE KOLDTBORD, which I would consider as a Scandinavian lunch board; (A customizable, sharable tour of the land w/ artisan meats, cheeses, proteins, vegetables, crackers and more for one or for a group. Use the checklist koldtbord menu on your table to order and set your price.) It was very good, liked the selection and the ability to customize it to your level of hunger and/or the number of people you are going to share with.Overall, very good first impression. We will be back!

Multiple tables unoccupied, and the staff seemed generally unorganized. After asking about the table (after an hour) we were told they ran out of silverware so it would be a bit longer wait. Finally sat down and were then informed that they ‘ran out’ of half the things on the menu, including mimosa OJ, Bloody Mary mix, and waffles. At that point we decided to leave. It was unfortunate that this was not communicated to us during our lengthy wait time. Needless to say, not a good experience.
