There’s a stunning piece of the Connecticut River in East Hampton, where you can stroll down to the riverbank and take a family picnic in perfect seclusion. At this point the river is more than 200 meters across, and if you happen to arrive at Hurd State Park by water in the summer months there’s a small campground reserved exclusively for people entering and leaving by boat. The park spreads over more than 1,000 acres, and has a network of blazed trails streaking through the forest. The orange and yellow trails take you to the top of the split rock, a set of granite ledges where you can see the river far below through the trees.
There are some great trails here. I usually go to the Split Rock trail which is pretty quick and easy compared to some of the other ones. It seems that they are repaving so the drive within the park is quite bumpy right now.
Beautiful area to hike. The weather was fantastic. Hurd State Park is a Connecticut state park located in the town of East Hampton with hiking, picnicking, and mountain biking. It is one of four state parks that offer primitive camping for boaters on the Connecticut River. The park is adjacent to George Dudley Seymour State Park.
This is a cute little park. We went for a hike. The best part of that was we spooked a deer and got to see just how quickly they can get up and go & how fast they really are. The area was somewhat scenic. Parking was easy. There were some lovely views of the Connecticut River.
Its a great place to relax by the water. It leads right to the CT river. A little bit of a hill climb on the way back to the parking area but only took about 10 min.
What a great State park. Road going in could use some improvement. The river was fantastic and the trails well-maintained I would recommend for anyone especially with a young family for hiking the great Connecticut woods
Its a long drive in, a moderately steep descent and return. The river jetty is beautiful.
Great bike trails follow the white and green and then if you dare try the red. Lots of excitement for all.
Beautiful park with hiking trails of varying difficulty, stunning vistas, nice well-maintained picnic areas. The road, however, needs some serious work so leave your motorcycle at the main gate.
Very nice and quiet! Grass is green and park was clean.
The only thing that was a little annoying to me was the fact that the trails werent easily readable. I wasnt sure if I was still following a trail half the time but other than that, its a nice state park.
Came here on a weekday. Very quiet, almost nobody here.
We went to visit the park today.was one of the worst parks I visited this year. Unlike the picture I saw online.we arrived there,no entrance sign.the road in had craters where,I could have lost my truck in . However the port potty had sufficient toilet paper.very unusual for a state park.alot of horse flies. But a nice grasy mowed field by rivreside. Some trails were not marked.
Fantastic trails that are great for adults and kids. Beautiful views and a great way to get away from it all.
Its where a good share of The Grapes of Wrath are stored
Seems plain but once you find all quirky trails.
Great Vista trail and nice how to the Riverside

Nice relaxing park.
Nice place but not managed well. Could have been better
Beautiful hiking trails. Split rock is a very nice lottle hike, great view of the CT river. In the off season you will have to walk down the road to access the trails.

Very beautiful. Great place to see the Connecticut River.
Good place to hike.
Wonderful place to hike, hang out and be in nature. Hardly run into other people, so many trails to choose from.
Nice hike
Trails here are in great shape, and there are more than you think.
The park itself is very nice but road in the park are worse than terrible. A dirt road would be an improvement
Very scenic and alluring. The scenery is just too good to be true!
Great place to hike, cross country ski, have a picnic on the river. if youre a paddler, you can reserve a campsite on the river as well - no power boats, paddlers only allowed. Great place to take the dog for a walk, go for a run, or mountain bike ride (yes, CT DEEP allows mountain bike riding on the trails - please be respectful of others and trail maintenance issues!)
Fun,easy hike nice view of river

A favorite place to hike. Various wildlife, and vegetation for those of whom are able to recognize.
One of our favorite places.
One of the best state parks in the state, endless amount of trails, areas for outdoor cooking and picnics, extremely clean land.
Love this place for hiking. Beautiful views of river!
Its a nice quiet Walk in the woods, very easy going but lots of wildlife, and many sing birds. Not a lot of people, and it has a nice covered Pavilion for a picnic lunch.
