It was ok, rough shape, they should think about doing maintenance to the course, a lot bre spots especially around the greens, the west course was tore up from the floor up. Plays long from the whites 6349 yrs. But hey how bad can it be if you playing golf and enjoying the day. Both the east and west side courses were packed even with the terrible conditions.

Theres a lot of both positives and negatives here. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating to me and I play here a lot so have a good sample size. The driving range is nice to have, theres a putting green and a chipping area. The new management has admittedly done a lot to clean up and improve the course by removing trees and cleaning up scraggly areas. The layout is pretty good, despite the fact that there are a few too many dogleg right holes. Its fairly tight and presents a good challenge. The course had gotten to be pretty nice over the summer but has really suffered lately. The rough is thin and patchy, the fairways are often devoid of grass and the greens (especially on the West) are bumpy and uneven. I think the amount of golfers has exceeded the drainage and conditioning buffer the course had. That wouldnt be so bad if the course were a bit cheaper. Even with a county card it feels a bit off to pay $34 to walk a course where finding a decent lie in the middle of the fairway is a challenge.Im thankful to have a 36 hole facility here in East Brunswick, hoping they get the conditioning back to what it was earlier in the year.

This review is for the grill they have set up at the turn. Not exactly sure whose bright idea it was to put someone that obviously hasnt cooked a burger or hot dog before there. She doesnt even have the heat on medium. It takes 30 mins for a hamburger and its not like she has some going at all times. She literally waits until she runs out. In the 30 mins I was waiting for my burger. She went to the clubhouse for change. Even though her tip jar was full if ones. Its not hard to take 20, ones out and put a 20 dollar bill in . Actually make it 3 times for change. She went again as I was writing this review ... oh and a 4th time to grab more Burgers. Unbelievable the Inefficiency .. oh check that.. 5th time for buns. Lol.

Fun course that was fun to play even w the fairways being aerated. Played a 3p tee time and didn’t run into any troubles at all w pace at that time. Played the East course have never played the west. Map wise East looks like and def played w a fair amount of water features.

With an East and West course to choose from, its a regular go to for my friends and I. The greens are well-kept and its always a pleasure to use the driving range before going out for a round of 18. They also have a tendency to stagger starts between the 1st and 10th hole, so they do get quite a few people out onto the greens at once.

Honestly ive never posted but unfortunately this was not a great experience at all... Course is in really rough shape... Good shots became bad lies every time... I understand the weather hasnt helped the maintenance but every hole 30 yards into the green had no grass leading up to air rated greens full of sand... I do like the track but it was impossible to play a regular shot without moving your lie even in the fairway... Im not a stickler but you cant charge $55 for a very badly kept course with a delay every hole... I apologize but I def crossed this course off my list... Wont go back...

Forgive me father I have sinned. I played tamarack east this morning. I would have much rather spent the $64 and donated to a charity or to help kids in need. $5 was well spent on the below average pork roll egg and cheese, so it was really $59 down the drain. I’ll give credit where credit is due though, the water was cold in the coolers. That’s about it for the positives. Invest in bitcoin, that may be a smarter use of your money.

I have been a long time player at Tamarack and I must say that I welcome the improvements that have been happening there in the past year.It was always a great layout, but needed quite a bit of TLC to get it back to its former glory. They have a new management team and I am impressed with what they have achieved so far. The clubhouse and restaurant have gotten a much needed face-lift. It is really nice now. I especially like sitting in the new outside veranda after my round. If you have not played Tamarack for a while, you will see a lot of changes on the courses. The first thing you will notice is, how many trees have been removed. This results in better airflow and less shade on the greens and tee boxes. Because of this there is a marked improvement in the quality of both. I have never seen the greens look better.Another thing that I like is the new policy of only charging me 1/2 price if I am taking a golf cart on my own. I have been told that they also have a new policy of having every 20th round free. I have not yet qualified for my free round yet, so I cant confirm this. but at least it is something to look forward to.If you have not played Tamarack for a while, it is well worth your while checking it out.

Theyre charging too much for range balls now. 5 dollars a token, and it takes 2 tokens to fill a small bucket of range balls. Ripoff. Not only that, but the West course seems to have gotten worse. The West course was the better course because it drained better - now, theres more standing water than there was in the past, and the par 3 15th hole, you cant even get to the green without your shoes getting soaked in water/mud!

This has to be quite possibly the worst course in the state. Last year they increased the greens fees and the course is in worse condition than prior years. Problems with the course conidtions on every hole from the tee box to the greens. Drainage is extremely poor. Standing water on most of the fairways even with a light rain conditions. Greens are in horrible shape. Not sure how they justify the increase in greens fees.

Nice Muni courses (East and West) with chipping, putting areas and driving range. Unlike the other reviewer I often buy tokens 10 at a time and never had a problem. Once you get to know the staff they are really quite friendly and joke every time we see them. However their sense of humor may be misunderstood at times. The course is always in really nice shape and the greens are excellent. Where else can someone play 18 holes for 13 dollars ? (weekday registered resident senior rate)

Play at Tamarack a lot. Use range and putting greens plenty as well. Spend $$ at restaurant and drinks, inside and outside as well. Walking up to clubhouse to play this Saturday, my bag and 4 wheel cart hit a bump and tumbled over, just as a known employee (Rich- ranger for the day) was walking towards me to the electric cart barn. My bag with clubs, spilled over as did my cart but this worker just kept walking without helping me in the least. After I got my bag and clubs back on my push cart, R. Came walking back out and I asked him why he ignored me and didnt help me at all. He told me he figured I could handle it myself and got plenty of stuff for free at the course already. Saw Rich on the 3rd hole West a bit later, as he was passing in a ranger cart, how he could ignore a patron in need of help and make excuses for not being a d cent hu,an being and he was again defensive and obnoxious. As it was extremely hot today, I went over to Pine Brook, at Covered Bridge in Manalapan as it is a bit closer to me anyway, got there info for rates, course info and scorecard. I played with friends on the Saturday in question, including 4 birdies on 2, 3, 11 and 12, but I will be looking for a new home course and Pine Brook is closer to me and has other advantages. Hopefully, one crappy employee at Tamarack wont ruin your day, but for all the time and money I spend there, I am extremely disappointed, insulted and offended by the actions and remarks made to me thereRW in Old Bridge

Played the East course yesterday (first time here, booked hot deal golf now for $31). Its a good layout and the greens were nice. My biggest complaint and reason for the 3 stars is that even though it hasnt rained in a few days, the course was soggy and muddy. We met up with a local player and he said thats pretty much the way it is all the time. Im no golf architect, but its apparent that the course either needs much better drainage system, or the land the course was built on just wasnt suited for a golf course. The ridiculously deep rough (you can loose a ball 1 foot off the fairway) Im guessing is due to heavy lawn mowing equipment not being able to be used too often. There were spots on the fairway where we didnt dare take the cart for fear of getting stuck in the mud, and remember, it had been at least 3-4 days since it had last rained. Thought it was a little odd that the foursome in front of us all had their own carts. I would think the course would want to minimize motorized carts on poorly drained land.

Tamarack seems to space their tee times so close that the course is so slow it is not worth it. I also found the condition not competitive enough to justify the prices. Fellow New Jersey golfers -- the holes here at Tamarack are 4 and 1/4 inches in diameter, just like they are at Augusta National, or Plainfield C.C. Of course the conditions are bit shaggy. But lets look at Tamarack as an opportunity to hone our skills when faced with difficult lies. This is not the course for coddling pampered players. Therein lies it charm. For $20 and change, a Middlesex County resident can find hours of pleasure chopping away at these 36 holes.Lets just look at the front nine of West:1: Even topped drives will dribble 50 yards down the fairway. A fine opening hole.2. The tee shot gives one a lot to ponder, a slight pull and youre wet. A slight slice and youre in the woods.3. A gorgeous hole, I dont care if youre a member at Plainfield. Did George Washington lead his army across this wide expanse of fairway? Who can tell me he did not?4. Short par 4. An endearing hole. Beginners will love it, because it lets you carry a pond without ever really feeling threatened.5. I love Tamarack, but this is a rather bland par three. I dont think it has an inch of elevation change, or interest. Unless you play from the very tips, and then the branches on the right will pose a trajectory challenge.6. So, you want to play golf. OK. Step up to this par tee. Heres your driver. Now lets see what youve got. Woods to the left. Woods to the right. Classic test.7. A great par five that takes position as well as power to reach in regulation.8. Bend your tee-shot to the left, if you can. If you cant, then you better take an iron or fairway wood off the tee and hope you can reach.9. A wonderful par 3 that requires careful club selection and a steady hand over your first and second putts.

LOL. To say this place is mismanaged would be paying it a COMPLIMENT. Good old cronyism at its finest. Its comical how poorly some of the employee treat people....mind you these are COUNTY employees... residents pay these peoples salary!Just a tip of the iceberg on the mismanagement... they will not sell anyone more than 2 range tokens at a time because people hoard them.... now a token costs $3 and a machine shop could probably make them for about 10 cents a piece. Rather then be happy that people are hoarding something they paid $3 for which would cost 10 cents to replace, these geniuses DISCOURAGE the practice. LOL, any wonder the place is a dump.
