This location need to be updated but the customer service is excellent the office manager Tina was awesome beds needs to be updated soon for the money that’s being spent comfort and relaxation should be top priority along with the excellent customer customer i enjoyed my Birthday stay
First time, room smelled of smoke, staff brought over air freshener & massage oils & shower gel to make up for it. Everything was clean, even when using my blacklight there wasnt a reveal of anything that should not have been.
Place is dated and not kept up, needs paint on outside, cracks in tiles, rust on vents. It appeared to be clean. Pool was nice. would recommend one of there other locations, I heard they are nicer
Wow! The Sybaris was so beautiful, heartwarming, comfortable and inviting. I fall in love asap. Sybaris is a great place to get out and have some fun as well as get close with your mate. Loving it!
The room was great and very private for a little get away. The place was a little dated and could use some updates- especially the massage chair. Definitely was. It as advertised. Very small (shirt and super narrow) and didnt work great. Definitely need to upgrade that. The hot tub and steam room were amazing. Would love it if it wasnt so expensive though. Could get the same thing for much cheaper minus the steam room. Overall a nice getaway.
We went to this location yesterday for the first time and we were really impressed. Staff was so friendly and welcoming upon checking in. The room was CLEAN, spacious and beautiful (in other words, definitely worth the money we had spent). Only downside is that our jacuzzi jets were not working. Maintenance came to check on it but didnt stay long for us to continue to enjoy our stay. Upon check out the front desk apologized for the inconvenience and definitely handled the situation professionally and, most importantly, fairly. We definitely will be recommending this to our friends and will be returning soon!
The pool in the room was nice and the overall ambiance. However, the room was really outdated and needed renovated. The bed was super uncomfortable and the bedding was scratchy.
Definitely a gem! Staff was extremely friendly, the room was beyond clean and the views are great. Even the food from the dining room was tasty.
I have a beautiful room. The fireplace. Whirlpool, lights around the bed, and quietness is what I wanted.

My only problem is massage chair is made for a child. No adult can fit especially when sides inflate. Otherwise been coming here for many years and love it. Thank you.

Disclosure, I used a Groupon and did not pay full price. I also did not plan on reviewing this location until after the stay. All photos were taken after our stay, I tried to tidy it up.We drove in from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The location isnt bad, the drive isnt bad from downtown either.The likes: they have everything you need to stay, toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, robes you can use(not keep), and 2 Andes mints, nice staff.Dislikes: dated, no closet space, there seemed to be blood on the sheet (photo posted below), small old TV, door doesnt close fully (it closes so no one can come in, but there is a crack so you can hear outside, also note that no one can see in, photos posted below), some small upkeep is needed like a cracked tile, also note that the hammock is basically useless and offers no support.The amenities are awesome, in ceiling radio, jacuzzi, shower, mini fridge and counter also a work area.Conclusion: I dont feel like I would come back, its nice but not overwhelmingly so. Good for one stop probably not two.

While we love this place, its strictly for nostalgia. Dont look too close, it is really showing its age. And you would think with the amount of money you pay to use the room, they could afford some updates! Oh well, it served its purpose just fine...lol
I went to Indianapolis it was much better, I enjoyed my stay tremendously. I will not go back to Downers Grove. It was small as ever, kinda ghetto, the pool was ccols as hell. The chair was ripped and old. It hurt my back bad.
Was cute, everything worked and had no issues. Only thing hanging on me is the price. No food on site, and small rooms for the price seems a bit much. The bathroom walls didnt go all the way to the ceiling, so no privacy there. The tv was small and pretty far away from bed.I guess just manage expectations.

Buildings are a Little close together but very very private rooms. Everything was above expectations. If you’r gonna go then go all out and get The majestic room! It was the best!! You won’t regret it.
This is a hard one to review. The room for the most part was clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. We did enjoy the room. However for the cost of these rooms one would expect the rooms to be keep better then what they were. Most of the glass squares underneath the bed were broke, dried paint on bathroom door handle, the water jets/shower heads in shower you could tell were clogged or had hard water bulid up on them as they didnt function as they should have. Everything had tacky looking instructional stickers telling you how to use it in which a 3rd of the were incorrect anyway, something you might expect to see in a 1 star hotel room. Speakers hanging off the wall and ceiling just looked bad, they should have used flush mount speakers in the wall that would have looked better.
Wow this place is nice and super clean !!!! I had a great time and felt rejuvenated. I did the four hour rental of the paradise pool and it was amazing. There is just so much to do. The chocolate strawberries are huge a delicious. Prices are very reasonable for what you get.
First time visiting for both my boyfriend and me. We really loved how easy it was to make a reservation. We loved our suite, really clean and spotless. We will be returning.
My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night and again on our 5 year anniversary. Perfect getaway to spend some alone time! Rooms were always clean and accommodating. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway!

My husband surprised me with a night here for my birthday! When we arrived the check in was smooth, the staff was quick and friendly. Once we got into the room, the fireplace was on, pool was warm and lit (the pool lights changed different colors, definitely a romantic touch!) and the radio was on so soft music was playing The room has a lot of different lighting choices itself to set the mood, there was also a coffee maker, microwave, DVD player, stereo, whirlpool (took a bit to get hot water and for the jets to kick on), steam room and a water installation over the pool which could be turned on and off by a switch. There was also wifi, but we couldnt cast our device to the TV, it said it just wasnt capable of doing that. Overall it was an amazing night, we would return!

Just celebrated our 23rd anniversary here. We truly enjoyed it. I surprised my husband with an overnight stay and I earned all the best wife points. Only wish all locations had the same room options available so we could go to one closer to home.

The Room was a little bit cheesy. Everything was labeled with a label maker and that made everything seem cheap. We stayed in the pool suite and the pool was by far the best part of the room. It was nice to have your own private pool. The last thing was that we asked about any discounts when we booked the room and were told there were none. After our stay we were told we could have saved over $100 if we had mentioned that we knew someone that had stayed there before and we were given a set of coupons. I would have preferred to have been told that before we booked.
One black woman asked my boyfriend whats wrong with me as discrimination or decoy against me. To make me look bad front of security cameras a d we are no longer accepted for request.
My wife surprised me. We enjoyed the bed swing.I didn’t care what low rating people had given. It’s the thought that my wife put into it. & I do agree that the rooms were outdated. However the staff here are friendly. First the desk receptionist told my wife to bring me at the desk to sign in. But Wife says it’s a surprise. They at least understood. I hope that they would do the same for me. When I reserve my wife surprise for her. I want the swimming pool this time.
Beautiful hotel, wonderful service, and the area near by has good food and things to do. Stayed for 3 nights of our honeymoon and enjoyed every moment and so did the wife!

Finally, checked it out it is “everything for romance” more like a “date night” then a hotel. There are separate little “houses” that don’t look great from outside, but once you get it, you’ll love it First, at the reception, you checkin with your ID and the CC. A variety of spa produces are offered for purchased in there (like massage oils, candles, bath salt and lotions). Then, you grab your magnetic key, and head to “your house”. Depending on the suit- they have small/regular suits, and some upgrades up to huge suits with private swimming pool and waterfall - you get what you pay for. But, anyway, the suits, even the most simple ones, are very cute, romantic, clean and cozy. Everything inside is meant to be used by couples.... you know what I mean )) you fee like you got into “fifty shades of Grey”’s room ))) There are complimentary shampoo, conditioner, lotion and coffee. We loved it. PS: no pets, no kids, no parties allowed!

Relatively speaking this is a decent place. Staff are extremely friendly and the chocolate strawberries were amazing. As for the room, its dated, early 90s Id say. It was clean, no weird smells or stains. Everything just looked a tad tired. A few light bulbs were burned out, one of the speakers didnt work, just basic stuff. We all know what this place is for, and for that, it succeeds in spades. I think the owners just need to spend a bit and upgrade the rooms.
It was awesome I just wish they had rooms available instead of telling me I need to reserve a good room months in advance but it was a special day and the Sybaris top it off I love this place n will go back definitely

Nice relaxing place to spend
The buildings seem very old, but the rooms are very nice inside. They are well kept and maintained. The staff is nice and accommodating. The bathrooms are fully stocked, including toothpaste and mouthwash. Better than any other hotel room Ive ever stayed in.

Outdated compared to the others. We were unaware that we would have guests above us who made this stay VERY unpleasant. This is not secure parking like the others.The room was VERY CLEAN and the staff was friendly. Personally Ill drive a little farther next time. That way I dont have people above us ruining my romantic birthday!

The ambiance was good. We had Rose petals the first night on the bed, but the best didnt work and it was cold at night. The fireplace is an electric one and gives off no heat. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work either. I told the front desk after the first night, and I was told it would be fixed. It wasnt. I stayed two more days and had to wear extra layers at night. When I left I was told a manager would be contacting me. Still waiting. Next time I will try another location. I didnt a lot of money for a pretty crappy room.
This review has nothing to do with the staff as they were really nice. Unfortunately the room it’s self (deluxe spa suite) was absolutely terrible. Looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 70s. Fireplace didn’t work, cracks in the shower (looked dingy), the tv area could use some serious updates since some of the speakers didn’t work, the “spa” jacuzzi looked gross and had pubic hairs in it, and some lights didn’t work. For what the sybaris charges everything should be in working order. For a couples destination spot just walking in the room was a huge turn off from the get go. Spend the extra gas money and go to a different location. The downers grove location just looks run down and sad. Needs some serious updates.
This place has awesome atmosphere and great Hot Dogs! Didnt know what to expect when we got here, but WOW! This is an amazing place and should be considered a staple for Chicago!

Definitely the most romantic resort around here. Take that special someone and you wont regret a single second. We had our own private pool and jacuzzi. There is also an auxiliary cord that hooks up to the surround sound throughout the room/pool area you stay in. This is definitely one of those times youll be happy with the money you put down on this.
I love it there. Its a fantastic afternoon getaway OR a fabulous over night stay. I love the cabins, I dont feel.as if Im around people and I dont have to worry about hearing people in other rooms or in hallways. Very very clean and romantic!

Had a relaxing experience. Yes its kinda outdated as some have said, but it was a nice bday staycation getaway & everything was clean & fresh. Always great to get a steam & whirlpool in. Mattress was comfortable but I prefer a more firm one because this one left my back in pain when I sat up after a really good nights sleep. Liked being able to plug in my phone to use my own playlist Thru the speakers. This location is less secluded than the others but similar look once inside the room. Definitely will return but maybe to another location. Would give 5 stars if it was renovated & no air coming in through the bottom & side of door (had to put carpet in front of it :/

Its always a nice get away. You can tell its one of the older locations. We found old key cards left from other guest in the room. I bought chocolate cover strawberries and they were so small and a few werent very fresh.
Clean and simple booking. Perfect for a romantic chill time with hubby
3 stars only because It’s clean, but I was not happy with the bathrooms size and the location it self.
Very romantic place, its very clean and good customer service. I recommend to get the Paradise suite where you can have your own private swimming pool.

I went for my bithday with my boyfriend and we both loved the deluxe suite when we arrived the front desk clerk was very nice and helpful with any questions we had about the suite parking was great right by my suite but i wish the pop machine had more sodas and the i expected the room spa tub to be bigger some complementary water bottles would of been nice to have also but other than small things it was nice i got coupons for a future trip check-in and checkout was easy and fast im and on my way out oh and the bed was a 8 out of 10 it was the room and all very clean most of all and last we felt safe and got our money worth we would come back and recommend
