Acoustics are amazing! The Aretha aka Chene Park is an amazingly beautiful music venue on the banks of Detroit River. Views from the seats are of the water and Canada. You can even see Belle Isle. Seats are comfortable and the stage is solid. There is a guy who wont let you go swimming. LolBathroom attendants were polite and parking was reasonable. Would definently return for more LIVE music.
The Sitting area was Great a wonderful area to see the River. The Staff was very nice. The operator of Aretha Franklin Amplified theater said people can have a. Funeral service there when losing a love one. That they are there for us.
Me and my husband LOVE concerts at this venue every summer and we are truly missing concerts this summer due to Covid-19. Hopefully, everything will return next summer!!
Another favorite jewel of our city. So excited that it will soon be renamed Aretha Franklin Park. One of the most beautiful music amphitheaters in the world. Imagine sitting listening to one of your favorite artists while watching them perform on a stage with the Detroit River and another country (Canada) as its backdrop.
Great time volunteering giving back covid-19 photos to families
Its just beautiful every time I attend Ive never had a bad experience
I love this venue. Every seat is great. A nice vibe an atmosphere! Food an drinks are sold at every event. Great acoustics for any event. A nice view of the water an boats especially on a warm summer night with music. This venue is perfect for any event! You will enjoy the experience!
Im trying to get an understanding of this return policy for the summer jazz series. Ive called the box office but it does not ring. So no tickets will be refunded until a new date is set?
What a great spot! I can’t believe it took so long to find this gem! Recently renamed chene park ... now Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre is a wonderful venue. Great for outdoor concerts and shows. The views of the river and the people who pull up on boats to watch concerts make this an electric place to watch a show! The concessions are also top notch they have some truly fantastic chicken wings!
The amphitheater is very nice. It is situated on pleasent grounds on the waterfront. There are nice views of Detroit River shipping and boat traffic around and behind the stage. The seating is wire mesh and the seat numbers are difficult to find.Ive attended a couple of shows there several years apart. For both the venue worked well and the clientele very friendly and pleasent. The process of loading the main parking lot could be more efficient. An improved lot surface would also be nice. Once parked, and seated, the place shines!
It slapped with Dj steadyrock rhe baddest dj. In the usa
Very nice youre outside and people are pleasant
DO NOT BUY TICKETS!!! They postponed ALL concerts scheduled for Summer 2020 so that they dont have to issue refunds. What a SCAM!! Fraudulent business practices!! I bought insurance for the concert tickets and they still REFUSE to refund my money. I will never buy tickets for this venue ever again! I REPEAT...DONT BUY TICKETS !!
It is a beautiful setting, has excellent artists, and the employees are awesome!
I love this venue. Yet, the sound is not always great. I do not know what to attribute it to. Some artist, sound great and others not. Additionally, the sound of the artist ALWAYS sounds better than in the amphitheatre.
Im here as a volunteer for an Indian concert. During my visit there is shower of rain with pleasant climate. Most important about this place is its location, its on border between US and Canada. The stage background is Canadian city skyline of Windsor city with large corgo ships making it scenic spot.
Beautiful place here. Im from the city of Detroit and when I come down here this place feel like a nice vacation get away. The festivities that goes on down here is incredible and remembering. This place will give you the real Motown feel when they have performances. This place also an incredible view of the Detroit River. Its public restrooms for the people they even have a nice chill area that offer a bar so you can enjoy a nice beverage relax chill and enjoy the wonderful music and breezes from the river front.
Best place to see a concert outdoors in the metro area. Great location very close to downtown Detroit and many other attractions. The views of the Detroit River are spectacular, and also serve as a back drop to the action on the stage. I also like the concession stands here.
SEATING:Seats uncomfortable, bring a seat pillow.STAGE VIEWS:Visible from farther back (example rows W/WW)OVERALL CLEANLINESS/ATMOSPHERE:Outdoorsy; Not clean enough for my liking but decent.RESTROOMS:Womens - 4 stalls. Expect wait time.
Nothing better on a sultry summer night, than being at the Detroit Riverfront sitting and watching and dancing at the many wonderful concerts at Chene Park, now named after the Queen, Aretha Franklin. Remember that parking far away is good, so you can walk along the best attraction in Detroit, the Riverfront Walk and make your way to the concert amphitheatre. Many of the old legends still perform, like Diana.
One of the best concert venues in Detroit. Having the water as the back drop, adds a peaceful touch to all events.
Very nice venue with Beautiful views
I love this place! My daughters was here and I love every bit of this place!
Awesome venue. This venue is on the water, fantastic location.
Nice place right on the water. Auditioned for wheel of fortune.
Great always! Beautiful view to the river while you are having a concert; Great shows.
Nice setting by the water, adult crowd.
Great venue with ample parking.
My first time at this venue in Detroit... it is an amazing place to see a live show!!! Right on the water with boats in the back drop. The wow factor is there!!! Common rocked it too!
Rachel Farrel concert .Nice and cool on the Detroit River. Always has been a nice venue.
I enjoyed a comedy show there with my sister.
A great outdoor venue in the heart of Detroit. It can be a bit boomy with lots of echo if youre not sitting in the front or center rows, so dont expect tight sound quality. Go for the experience.
UniverSoul Circus a MUST see event for ALL. Theres something for everyone to see and enjoy
Under the right weather conditions, the most awesome concert venue! Where else can you watch good music on a stage directly in front of a waterfront? Its nice to take advantage of the precious few great weather days weve had this year, by being in an open- air theater to do so.Concession stand very weak. Two visits, out of candy both times. The soda pop is about 12 oz- with no option to buy, say, a 32- 44 oz, longer-lasting size. Considering its outdoors and warm, you can choose between a warm soda, or 6 oz of soda with 6 oz of ice...!? Bought a box of popcorn & their little soda- ($9 !), opened my popcorn box (they are not sold open top and overflowing- the level of popcorn was, like, an inch from the top of the CLOSED box...!mentioned this to counter girl. She muttered something, then grudgingly topped it off to about the closed level! So 25 cents worth of corn, and 6oz of soda for $9 . But hey, the music and atmosphere was great!
It is always nice here in the summer, I with they had big screen monitors so the guest can see the performer on stage from anywhere in amphitheater that would be really nice. Also it would be nice if they improved or revamped the concession stand because you’ll miss the whole show standing in the concession stand.
I had fun. The groups they brain are top notch.... But the sound system needs updating . They definitely need to switch to a digital system and the seats need painting or cleaning. Yes I know it is an outdoor venue but still needs routine maintenance and upkeep to remain as nice as its always been.
Beautiful place off of the water. I was able to attend the first event when they opened and I was just amazed!! Worth the trip!!
Went to see RBRM and it was amazing! No matter where you sit, its a great view! Expect a little party before the headlines. Trust me Its worth the wait!
I feel the strong presence of Motown here. The venue is Elegance, clean and the staff is friendly. One thing I have always been able to say about downtown Detroit, there needs to be more parking. Be sure to check this place out. Its in a great location near a couple of casinos as well
Seniors Day. A good activity for seniors.
The venue us unbelievable. The river is the backdrop and the acoustics are amazing. Kenny G was great.
Awesome experience at Chene Park. The place was upbeat with no extra drama. Enjoyed the overall ambience of what the location has to offer.
I had a ball coming to this theatre! The setting was perfect between the acts and the background of the water. Loved it !
The comedy show last night was ENTERTAINING. I had a GREAT time from beginning to end. Shout out 2 the lavatory lady, get your HUSTLE Ma Ur a Queen & you made me feel like a queen with your hospitality
Very good concert. Kem through down at chene park.
The atmosphere is wonderful. A fun place to hear good music, people watch, laugh and enjoy something you have in common with other people. The speaking voices are hard to hear unless the artist bring their own special equipment. Never much liked the acoustics except for the music. Purchase seats early and near the isle for better comfort. A seat pad is good to bring. Very hard to get a server for drinks or snacks unless you are on the end. Bring a cloth or tissue if you sweat a lot, a few cleaning wipes for the seats so your clothes dont get dirty & folding fan if are prone to getting too hot. Join the crowd and have fun!
This was my first time going to this local destination spot, and as a late arrival had already missed the first act, but Peabo! Peabo rocked the house with a nice mix of his old hits and upcoming songs. The weather was perfect even as it came in off the River. This was a surprise event and the only things that would have been better was if Id known so I could clean out my memory so I could take more video and pictures.Really an enjoyable venue.
I usually go at least four concerts a year I love it, the acoustics is outstanding.
I love love love the new name for Chene Park. I appreciate it. Hoping the sound gets better
The company we work for here hear send this out to share information about our company... Everybody that came to our table was very nice and the venue is beautiful
Pattie LaBelle and Babyface Concert had a good time with family and friends
Went to the Maxwell concert knowing that my friend was going to be proposed to, tonight thank you for helping making tonight special for them.
Love going to events here..no seat is a bad seat and its always a vibe when the weather is nice.
Beautiful view of the river. Great sound, really no bad view of stage from what I could tell. As much as u may want to go to the box office and save fees, there is still a $4 additional administration fee, selecting seats is a pita and so is parking for it.
Came to see Steel Pulse and UB40 with my big brother, hes a big reggae fan, so.....
A nice, clean accessible place to enjoy a quiet luchtime meal and break if you work in or near downtown Detroit. River traffic is always interesting.
I went to see Michael Franks.. concert was nice..the place it self is too! However I believe between the riverfront hotel that is in walking distance should collaborate with the amphitheatre to be more informative to the guest and vice versa...we stayed at the hotel keep in mind it has that old hotel look but it was really nice and the price was reasonable..back to the amphitheatre the people were smoking and each its own but its a respect thing when youre in a establishment around other this was a jazz concert so I thought it would be laid back..I was mostly concerned for the seniors that had to experience that! You would want someone smoking that stuff next to your grandma! No structure on directing the crowd out of the venue that was a mess..easily can cause conflict! For a concert goer I like to enjoy the show and be able to leave peacefully! I would visit again I plan to write the people that run it hopefully they would understand. They have something great! Oh yeah! The boats also pulled up to watch from the river!
Beautiful! Wonderful scenic view eith boats strategically placed. Astonishing tribute to Aretha.
Great summer place to see a favorite band
A wonderful time.
Im hoping the NEW NAME, comes with NEW CHANGES. Otherwise, this place is going to lose patrons. The security DEFINITELY needs to be addressed. How is it that I pay for 6 FRONT ROW SEATS at $125.00 a ticket(not counting service fees), and people can come from WHEREVER and stand in front me, and Security doesnt say ANYTHING? If this is the case, I may as well pay for a lawn seat and just walk to the front. Why is the Blue drinks watery now? What happened to the Slushy Blue Drinks? Do you need a new machine? Why cant the mixture be rotating in the machine to get the Slushy effect PRIOR to the concert? Ive been to 5 concerts thus far within this year, and EVERY Blue drink been in liquid form. How is it that when it rains, the whole FRONT ROW SEATING area becomes a pool? No one wants water getting in there shoes, or to hold their feet up to prevent their feet and shoes from getting wet. I know it takes money to do things, and I LOVE MY CITY, but I cant and will not continue to patronize ANYTHING at AF Amphitheater if things continue on the way they are. I dont think ANYONE in the Mausi Family or The Right Productions would like if ANY of this happened to them or their friends and family members. This was a SAD thing to encounter out of ALL the YEARS that my family and I been coming to concerts at this venue.
Its always a great time at the former Chene Park. The blue drinks are killer, so dont drink and drive after you have a couple of those. The sound needs improvement, but watching your favorite band while overlooking the Detoit River is amazing.
No concerts yet but, it was nice just being by the water.
Wonderful Jazz experience
First time seeing a violinist play different music it was beautiful upbeat hes a good violinist Escobar
Fantastic venue, loved the lawn seating
I love this venue, its a great theater! You can drink and smoke while you enjoy the show. Such a cool spot...
R--E-S-P-E-C-T...Put some ON IT!!! HER ROYAL HIGHNESS......Why did we wait to HONOR her in her Falling ASLEEP IN DEATH...Dont get me WRONG..its a BEAUTIFUL JESTER...but would it NOT have been GRAND to see that SMILE that ONLY RERE had when she LOVED SOMETHING...she would have PUT ON A SHOW IN THERE THAT WOULD HAVE BROUGHT PEOPLE FROM CLEAR AROUND THE WORLD...all the greats would have been there!!! Detroit lets start getting out in FRONT OF THINGS...PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WITH STEVIE AND SMOKEY...and please not just a street rename The Gem Theater and The Music Hall...Your Honor Mayor do it while they can STILL BRING THE HOUSE DOWN!!!... In other WORDS...N-O-W!!!! TRUST AND BELIEVE EVERYONE WORLDWIDE WILL FLOCK TO DETROIT FOR THAT EVENT!!!...Give them their roses NOW...while they can still enjoy the sweet smell of the fragance of DETROITS OWN HOME GROWN LOVE...WHATS IN A DETROIT ROSE?...SIMPLY PUT....S-O-U-L!!!!....ALL HAIL THE QUEEN
Great Venue! I have been enjoying great music here for over 20 yrs.
The bathroom was clean and the assistant in the Ladies room was on point. Maybe clean the chairs between shows. I truly enjoyed the concert with Boney James, he will always be a Detroit favorite.
Nice outdoor theatre. Awesome shows. Perfect concert venue. Great drinks.
Beautiful night with my husband listening to Jean-Luc Ponty
Very good concert. Enjoyed every minute of it
Attended the KEM concert it was very nice. Park was clean Staff was friendly Service was accommodating
Beautiful venue to see a show. Covered, right on the Detroit River. The venue is small enough that even the lawn seats have a good view. Great venue.
Loved this Venue. A Detroit staple!!! Youve absolutely have to experience a concert here. Wednesday are typically jazz line ups and weekends are usually hip hop and R&B. A must
Sound system SUCKS at times! Drinks are overpriced...BUT its so beautiful feeling the breeze from the water and the views are lovely.
Always great concerts and nice views of the Detroit River.
The venue beautifully designed. Great customers service and the audio / video is Crystal clear.
Beautiful with nothing but beautiful people
Went for a graduation ceremony, too many vehicles, unable to park unless you pay parking fee. Love this park/theatre ; the water is nice to see and the breeze is breath taking. Nice place to relax, drove 90 minutes to get there.
Awesome venue right on the water in Downtown Detroit! Amazing! Pricey for drinks. Definitely a great place to see a concert! I seen UB40 there!
This is a wonderful theater. You must bring your owncushion due to the seat are mettle. The view is great.
Love the events. Close to the water. Nice dining downtown area too.
Everything about my visit was great EXCEPT the sound which is why you go to a concert in the first place. I was there for Rashaan Patterson/Loose Ends and the acts were in top form but I could not fully enjoy the concert because I could not understand the words that were coming out of the singers mouths. The sound was TERRIBLE. Just a bunch of noise with no clarity at all. People were leaving as soon as Loose Ends hit the stage and I suspect it was due to the terrible sound. I dont know if you can have good sound in an open area such as this, but the sound they have now is totally unacceptable. That being said I will go back for Rose Royce/Con Funk Shun and try it again and if its the same I will NOT be returning until they fix the sound. I was there for the Aretha Franklin memorial concert and the sound was OK then. Maybe they could get some tips from Freedom Hill to improve the sound. UPDATE.... I went back for Rose Royce/Con Funk Shun and the sound was MUCH improved over my last visit. Maybe each act has their own sound equipment which could account for the vast differences in the sound that I heard during both my visits (I have no idea) however, I will still have a little trepidation about the sound when I attend in the future. I am amending my review from 2 stars to 4 stars.
Had a great time at the Aretha Franklin Amp. ..great seats no matter were you sit including lawn seating ( bring your own chairs ), good food and drinks. Ths sound is great and so is the view and the crowd ..Shared jazz concert with daughter and son-in-law .
Such an amazing venue!! I really enjoyed being there for the last Jazzy night of the year and also of the first year of it being the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre! Give it a go forsure people you wont regret it!
AWESOME ALWAYS A GOOD TIME EVERY VISIT. GRATE STAFF
