This is a nice walk and a suprisingly pleasent area. Only 3 stars because Des Moines and much of the USA have this weird idea of isolating things rather than complimenting things. This walk and the Asian park are isolated from other things. In my humble opinion, the road the goes along the park near the Botanical center should accommodate businesses and shops. A place to get a bite or a drink and/or some shops. Its essentially a desert. You drive there. You park. You walk. Thats it. There is no place to get a bite or to shop. Typical American desert of a park.
Fun little Park & fun to walk across the bridge! Love the fishing pole & bobber!
Probably the nicest walk you can have in Des Moines. You can park your car across the bridge and walk on over it and make your way to this park. Here you can walk around it and see different architectural buildings and also different landscaping thats unique in this part of the country. Theres also a biking/running trail alongside the river.
A fairly recent artsy installation on the western bank of the Des Moines River in downtown Des Moines, right next to the western entrance to the iconic Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge. When it first opened, there were a few more swings installed on the fishing pole, but when I visited this time, there was only one lonely swing left. The park is nicely lit at night and adds a more fun element to the river front space in downtown.
Neat views of downtown and bridge is dedicated to women and their achievements!
Great walk around Des Moines. Nice street art and statuary in and around the riverwalk.
Its small, but I think its appeal is more about location, location, location!
Not only is this place beautiful, its clean, has gorgeous views of the Drs Moines skyline, and a wonderful mix of city and nature all in one. Its kid friendly and handicap accessible as well.
Its beautiful at night.Got to see fireworks from Sec Taylor Stadium also.
Very clean, beautiful views, wildlife and plants are respected, the trail is well kept and easily used by both pedestrians and bicyclists.
We fished there and enjoyed the view how pleasant the water sounds.
A beautiful walk around the Des Moines River.
Beautiful, especially at night when its lit up.
Beautiful view of the river and fun place to people watch
Scenic & beautiful and my kids loved the swings!
Very neat design, very peaceful.
Beautiful bridge good lighting at night
A very nice and well-maintained park. Everyone should walk along here a few times on a nice day.
Beautiful river walk. Enjoyed the sound of the city and the river. Very unique Bridge. The fishing bobber is pretty cool.
Awesome park and river walk, only trouble was that it was slightly confusing while under construction, but overall very nice
Another wonderful bridge for Des Moines area
Nice area. Great rest stop when enjoying the city.
Asian garden is pretty. I wouldnt walk there at night or alone.
Pretty nice area to go and walk around at. There was some construction when we went but they still had one side open.
Good place
The park itself is quite small, so dont expect too much in terms of play structures or running area. What do you get are some stunning views and things to explore that are completely unique to Des Moines. Rotary Riverwalk Park is basically a giant sculpture with swings, and its located on the western side of the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge (a pedestrian bridge). You can walk over the river, and on the other said is the Robert D Ray Asian Gardens with a pagoda. Taken together, this free scenic stop is definitely worth your time in downtown Des Moines.
