Theres an apple tree that was there when Bob lived there. Alotta people dont know this, but Robert preferred to be called Bob by his friends. Anyways, the apples off this tree are the best youll ever taste.
While the house was closed because of COVID, we could still traverse the grounds. There is a cute walking trail in the back of the property, although not clearly marked. There are great poems by Frost and his daughter posted throughout the property as well.
Even in the off season with the historic home of Robert Frost closed the grounds and trails offer a wonderful visiting experience. Its truly like being in any of his master works written during his Derry years. At various points on the farm, signs are posted with his poems, all located at points that echo the words. My favorite is as the wood trail separates into two the road less taken greets you to read and ponder. The snow was deep and snow shoes made the experience possible. Volunteers worked pruning Frosts Apple trees. A very good way to spend a sunny winter day.
Robert Frost is my favorite poet, so this was a must-see on our recent New England trip. There is a small museum/interpretive center where visitors can learn about his life and read some of his work. The trail around the farm perimeter is worth the half-hour or so walk. There are several stops with his poetry and the stories behind them, and the field, woods, and stream are very picturesque. This was a beautiful spot with autumn color as well.
House was closed but walked the grounds. Love his poems are posted around. I pulled off i. Front of the picnic area. There isnt RV parking in the back.
You have to pay if you want a tour of the farm house, but to walk the grounds is free. The hike is easy and well marked. Nice place for peace and quiet, and contemplation. Not really a place for small kids unless you want an easy nature walk.
Went here and walked over by the field, a bug the size of my fist landed on my thigh and was staring at me and I instinctively lashed out but with my left hand instead of my right and got my mom square in the back and she cried. Seemed like a cool museum tho
Stopped here while visiting my friend. Randee(I think that was her name; her bag was upside down), was my tour guide and was phenomenal! Since it was just myself and another lady; we had Randee all to ourselves. She gave a very descriptive tour and answered any questions. The Grove are beautiful and story is of Robert Frost is beer interesting. An extra bonus, both ladies at the site provided suggestions for lunch when I asked. A definitive must see!
Always worth the visit. Dont miss the trail behind the farm!
Very personal and non commericial. Have taught Frost for years, and my wife and I both admire his poetry and his life. Loved witnessing the locations for the inspirations for many of his poems. Wonderful. The tour guides were lovely and polite, even packing up our lunch so we could make the hourly tour with Seth. A gem, espcially for literature fans.
I learned so much about the time he and his family spent at the farm as well as the area. Our guide was interesting and engaging! Definitely worth $5
A very beautiful place with a very good historical experience I wish I could have spent more time here there are also poetry books you can by.
Very nice walk with beautiful scenery. Not open due to Covid-19 but we enjoyed the grounds.
Great place, beautiful trails and the Frost story was well told by the Historical Sites staff.
Learned about the history of the Robert Frost and the homestead. Watched a short video that included Robert Frosts daughter and then had a wonderful tour of the house. After the tour we walked around the property where Robert Frosts poems are printed and mounted on posts. Since we are Derry residents and over 65 our visit was free.
Best to visit during peak of fall
Beautiful place!
We did not go in the home, but enjoyed walking the grounds. Well maintained and loved the plaques with some of the poetry scattered throughout the farm. Quiet and peaceful. Great place to enjoy nature.
Beautifully restored farm house of Frost. Nice guided tour and grounds to roam.
I think im going to remember this place for a long time to come
Its amazing to see the places where Frost wrote his acclaimed poetry. Many paths lead through the woods which are particularly pleasant in the late summer and fall.
Good guide. Loved the farm.
So much fun and safe for the kids to run and explore
Peaceful and great walk with trails through the woods
A place everyone should visit. Home of one of our greatest poets, knowledgeable tour guides and absolutely gorgeous trails to walk. Home open seasonally, grounds open year round.
Great place to visit and hike the trails out back. Very animal friendly trails and very very clean! I go to walk the trail often for many years now i highly recommend learning the history around and about Robert frost with very cool history right in Derry N.H.
Beautifully restored to the original home they lived in for over ten years! Many original pieces of furniture and even some actual items!
Beautiful grounds. Wish could have spent more time. Will be going again for sure. Lovely signs along the way to learn from.
Unable to enjoy since it was closed.
Wonderful tour. I learn something new every time I go. Nice serene setting. Well kept home. I always enjoy going to the Frost Farm.
You got a real sense of why Frost wrote the way he did
Finally was able to visit this historic site and it was definitely worth it. It was very hot today so lucky me I got an almost private tour. There was one other guest. Im not big on tours and Id rather look around on my own but Randee made the tour very enjoyable. She knew her stuff. After the tour was over I enjoyed the grounds and even ventured into the woods for a little hiking
Impressed with presentation and restoration of Frost home. Nice nature trails to stroll. Enjoy.
Comfortable and I supposed to relax and go for a walk and read the articles
Always a wonderful walkabout, especially on clear nights.
Great little walk with poetry along the way!
Nice place to stop by if youre in the area. Clean bathrooms.
Wonderful piece of history. Beautiful setting.
This is the place where Robert Frost stayed the longest, crafted his work, and became the man we know today. The tour guided are fun, and the property is expansive. Many of the shorter poems are posted around various spots on the farm. It is lovely and well maintained. It would be a nice family friendly outing.
Nice Walking trail with poems along the way. Some people dont pick up after their dogs though. Havent been inside, not sure when its open.
Quiet serene. I can see why he wrote such beautiful poetry here. Well worth a visit.
Awesome spot, very good tour also!
Great place. The tour guide gave so much interesting information and the walk around the grounds was lovely.
This is a beautiful place highly maintained. Great place to take a stroll through the woods where Mr. Frost himself walked and wrote poetry.Thank you NH Historical Society for doing a wonderful job here!
We had a great tour guide. She had a wealth of knowledge about Robert Frost. This is a must stop.
A great place to learn a little history, enjoy some poetry, or just walk the trails in the woods.
Fun place to walk the dog and read some poems
Exceeded all expectations. This staff was knowledgeable and entertaining. In addition to touring the house and learning a great deal about Frost and feeling his presence there, there is a self-guided walking tour of the property.
If you like history or literature youre sure to enjoy your visit.
