We were there to see The Hodge Twins. The show was great. My low rating goes to the service we didnt get.My husband and I drove from Colorado Springs to this show. We got there early and had to wait outside in the cold. That is important because before ordering any alcohol and food we wanted some coffee to warm up. Getting our coffee took a while but we understood it was a sold out event. When we got it she put it down and walked away so quickly and without asking if we needed anything else. I didnt have any silverware so I couldnt stir the sugar in my coffee. I patiently waited for her to come to us. When she finally did, she served the other couple sitting in the same table as us and I had to really try hard to get her attention just to ask for silverware. My coffee got cold and I still had no silverware, at this point I was warm enough so I wanted a drink and not cold coffee so I put it aside and waited for our server. Waited and waited. She came back maybe twice and both times she refused to talk to us and only served the couple sitting in the table with us. I have no idea how does that happen? I know you were busy and know you messed up by not bringing a spoon so I can enjoy my first drink, but to completely ignored us?She shows up a third time and just drops a paper in front of us. It was the bill for 2 cups of coffee we didnt drink, needless to say we never saw her again.I have never experienced anything like it before. I wanted food and drinks and hot sweet coffee. The table in front of us was so annoyingly drunk. Might have been annoying because they actually got served drinks and we couldnt even get a spoon. Finally at the end when I got the bill I was able to see the name of our server and our lack of service was provided or not provided by Treya. I cannot imagine what we did so wrong because the only words that came out of my mouth were first I would like a cup of coffee and second Maam may I have some silverware? I did not raise my voice at any moment I literally just waited to be acknowledge.I would like to think she was just having an off day and that is why we didnt get service but I watched her go to other tables and serve them fine. If she didnt want to served us she just needed to ask someone else to do so.
The venue was great and the comics were phenomenal. The service by one waiter was unremarkable to say the least but as for the rest they were all very polite, and very quick. Only thing that I had an issue with was that the bathroom and adjacent room stunk.......pretty bad. All in all, it was a great experience and would definitely come back.
Went here to see Tony Baker. The show itself was pretty good, but the overall experience had much to be desired. If you plan on going here, I urge you not to buy the VIP tickets. It is a waste of money as they are no assigned seats--more like a first come, first served type deal. The VIP ticket consisted of two small non-alcoholic drinks and two entrees (which we didnt get until about 20 minutes before the show ended). To be fair, they were pretty busy, however, they must have been short staffed in the kitchen, because the food took entirely too long to come out. And when it did, it was just okay (we got the chicken strips and buffalo chicken pasta). I would recommend coming here for a show, getting in line about 20 minutes before the doors open to get a good seat and maybe having a drink. Dont waste money on anything outside of that. On the plus side, the comedy club is located in a shopping center so there are plenty of places to patronize before or after the show.
Hodge Twins were phenomenal! Great venue, good food and libations. Very clean, well ventilated even with standing room only. Service was constant and amenable. Will frequent again indeed!
Nice venue for stand-up, weekend food selections are better than weekdays. And avoid the far corner of the stage for seating, its much harder to hear. Overall a good space, staff is friendly, and they feature some really talented comics!
The tickets recommended arriving at 6 with a start time of 6:30. The line didn’t start moving until 7. Don’t bother going to a show between October and March because you will stand out in the cold for longer than you plan. The club also enforces a two item minimum per person. Don’t bother going if you don’t want to spend $30 more than you plan
This improv theater is very spacious making it ideal to enjoy the show. Service food and drinks were good. It also has a large bar for splurging after the show. The outdoor parking was ample.
Its always a pleasure visiting this establishment. The food and drinks (that Ive tried may way) are very good. I only wish they would serve a few more vegetarian options. Also, there seemingly is an issue with an odor coming from the restrooms that lingers into the hallway where you enter and exit the show room that needs to be addressed but other than that, I truly enjoy my time at the Denver Improv!!
Awesome place, food is good. Great people performing every weekend! Not just the big names either! I havent ever had a bad experience here!!
Service is the worst. Rude staff. If the server makes an error on the bill, customer has to leave the show to go to the bar to attempt to have someone rectify the situation (not sure management is even on site). Why should a customer have to leave a show they paid to see to get an error corrected that was made by the staff! Server & security will rudely pressure you to go now & hurry up instead of apologizing for the error in the first place! Ive seen them kick someone out for laughing too loud. This is a comedy club, you cant control how people laugh. Thered be a problem if they werent laughing! People wouldnt come and youd make no money! This place will never get mine again!
Small and crowded. Great prices. Get ready to wait in line to get good seating. Get there early good service
We went to see Tony Baker with Keenan Baker as the opening act. It was wonderful. Both comedians had us in stitches. The only negative comments are that they only had one cook on staff and their full menu wasnt available and you couldnt take pictures of the comedians while on stage. The one cool thing was they offered bottomless soft drinks for $7 and they gave us two glass cups with the Improv image on it. It was a great experience and definitely will return. Highly recommend.
I have been here three times when visiting Denver. Excrement place. Great comedians. Pretty Ricky and Guy Torrey. Keep that up
I am here at the Improv. After a minor problem that at least three employees didn’t want to fix, a very nice man named Kyle took care of the problem. We greatly appreciated his initiative, ownership, and customer service. I was literally typing this as Kyle came up and had marked it as two stars but Kyle turned this into a five star experience. Thank you sir!
Really good night out. Great show. The minimum spend on food/drinks is a little annoying. I can only intake so much before I need the bathroom. As I had bowel cancer & half my bowel removed. Think its unfair if you just wish to be there and enjoy the show.
All in all, its a great venue, not too crowded.I brought my boyfriend here for a surprise birthday present and paid a pretty penny for VIP tickets, wanting to make it extra special. We were second in line and I was blown away by the fact that 3 other people without VIP who we were talking to us in line, got to sit literally right next to us. There was nothing greatly special about the seating and there were actually seats closer to the stage which were Non-VIP.The food was average bar food, having gluten and lactose allergies wont be your friend here. I basically could only order sweet potato fries.Wine selection is very very limited.Advice to those out there... just get there early and youll have VIP seating... nothing special wont waste my money on the seating ever again.
Had a great time here! Havent laughed that hard in awhile. Definitely worth going. Date night or out with friends and family.
We were seated quickly, our server was great, fodd came our fast!Aries Spears was funny. We had a great time!
Thought this would be a dump like some other comedy venues, but its NICE and legit! Great time!
Good place for cheap comedy. You arent packed in like sardines like you are at Comedy Works. Food selection is limited but good overall. Drinks are pricey and you have a two item minimum per person.
We have been trying for over 2 weeks to reach the boxoffice to see what is going on for the April 25th show. No way to leave a voicemail and the website is down. Please update shows that have been postponed or cancelled!!!
I loved the Performance, and got close seats to the stage and enjoyed the show. Most of the staff was nice & respectful, ran into one staff member who didnt care to be their or take care of the guest. I wish the stage was larger for the talent.
Great acts! Its great that they have a bar while waiting. The dining is a bit awkward with the acts going.
Its a great place to see a comedy show.. great staff, even better food and the drinks are definitely worth a drink..lol. If you are looking for a fun time, you must come in for a laugh, food n of course drinks thank you all to who make all this possible
It was 20° degrees out the night we went. We had to stand outside for over 2 hours before they started letting people in. The show was supposed to start at 9:45 it didnt start until almost 11:00. It was extremely disrespectful to make everyone stay out in the cold with no one informing us what the hell was going on. Once seated our server was really rude not just to us but to all the tables around us also.I would never come see a big name here again its to small of a venue they cant handle the volumn of patrons from the front doors to servers to kitchen staff. Facility was a big disappointment.
The comedians where great. The waiter was rude from the very beginning. Horrible first customer experience.
Amazing night of laughter with the awesome Jay Mewes & all the fantastic comedians! My only complaint was paying good money & than being extremely cramped in the middle of this tiny table. We had no elbow room to even eat let alone drink our drinks & were not big people.
Saw Rob lipinski I think that was his name and DeRay Davis. Did not it stop laughing. Worth every penny
Went to see the Hodge twins and they were great. The staff however was beyond rude. Gratuity is automatically added so they really dont care about giving good service. Drinks arent good and take an hour to arrive and they make you order everything at once. Food is mediocre at best.
The location is nice, convenient to restaurants and shops. Only issue was there was something wrong with the pipes in one of the bathrooms, which made for the worst smell! It was very hard to be in the lobby waiting to see the show we came for. SOmeone tried to light candles at one point, but that wasnt gonna help!
Attended the Diva show! Fantastic job ladies! Good selection of food, waiter staff busted their tails taking care of everyone.
Bought tickets to go to a show on 12/30/2019. I showed up to the event and hour early with 4 other friends. We took an Uber down to the even costing us around 20 each way. When we got to the venue it was closed. It was cold and we sat outside waiting for almost 2 hours. While waiting over 20 other people showed up that had also bought tickets. We all searched our emails and checked social media and no one had any notification that the event was cancelled. We all ended up leaving after waiting 30 minutes past the start time of the event. We spent money on the tickets and over 40 for our Uber. We were on vacation and this wasted an entire night of our vacation. Denver Improv didnt even tell us that the event was cancelled and it was very disappointing that we wasted the night and spent money getting to the venue. If I could give then zero stars I would
I love the acts there and the staff is always friendly.
Great staff, good bar and kitchen. I had their Mac and cheese with Buffalo chicken and it was divine. I was there for a special event but expect Urban comedy most nights. Plenty of parking and the there are no bad seats as they get progressively higher as you get further from the stage. Prices are a bit more than most restaurants and it is customary to tip well over 25% because of the unique workload of the staff (all orders come at once).
We ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place! They were soooo great and accommodating when I took my friend who needed assistance. It was her birthday, and we both had a blast!
Excellent food excellent drinks best place to get your laughter on. I go there at least 5 or 6 times a year.
It was great!! Food was really good, reasonable price. Comediand actually funny.... Not just my kind of funny there was variety. I liked that the lights were off with led candle light setting. It was a wonderful date night experience... Price was GREAT!!! Which is Always good when on a budget.
Theres a really narrow hallway to get into the place where the seating is & the waiters forgot parts of our order (even though we only ordered a few things). Other than that, there really is no bad seat in the place which is great, staff was nice and I remember the menu not being too bad!
Fun and fun! Cant wait to go again.
Excellent fun exciting if youve never been this is the spot to unwind relax and laugh
Great place to eat and have fun laughing, Deray Davis was so hilarious. Had me laughing my ribs out. Love to see him again, such chill dude.
My favorite place to see comedians. Its a meal and a show kinda place which is awesome and convenient. The food is always good too so worth the money!
Great place depending upon who is there that night. Food needs to step up a notch with the price. Drinks are too expensive for the price. Overall you should eat before you come but there is a drink minimum or something like that. They make sure to get your money if you let them.
Lots fun. Good food funny
Really friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Feels like a club youd find in L.A.
The act was amazing. The drink was delicious
Love this place but, please hire more waiters and waitresses. It takes a while to receive drinks AND food which makes the experience as a whole less enjoyable.
Love this place comics are always funny tony rock was hilarious tonight
Ticketing is a very easy process. No room for the waiters to walk. They are often in the way and very distracting. They also talk at a normal voice when they could lower their volume to not interfere with the show. Otherwise, great shows and a lot of fun.
This club always has some really funny comedians and most you have never heard of but give them a chance. The 7ish shows always have plenty of seats up front. The wait staff is great too.
Love the layout of this comedy club. Great prices for the drinks and apps
Very poorly run establishment. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING. As soon as you entered the main doors, you could smell the bathrooms and they were 30 ft away from the main door. The floors were sticky from urine. Trash everywhere. I had to take a shower after the show due to how disgusting that place made me feel
Loved it! Great service and lots of laughs!
We love going, we always have a good time
It was a nice experience but it was so hot I couldnt fully enjoy the atmosphere. But overall it was a good time....
First time coming here.Definitely the last time. Horrible place.
My first time there and I loved it Cocoa Brown was AWESOME LOVED LOVED HER....
Everything was great, but the food! High priced, no seasoning, cold food. Eat somewhere else before or after the show. Buy 2 drinks for your 2 item minimum.
HORRILE EXPERIENCE.Bought tickets online for New years eve-eve 2019. The venue was closed down when we arrived for our show. MULTIPLE confused people were outside who had also who had pre-paid for tickets to a show we never got to see! Now I cant get ahold of the venue at all for a refund!EDIT* Finally got ahold of a staff member. Apparently, the club did not sell enough tickets to the show so they cancelled the show WITHOUT informing anyone who purchased tickets online. They never made an effort to contact us via email or phone number, which they had access to both forms of contact from our online purchase.Apparently, they can inform their entire staff and the comedians not to show up, but they cant inform paying customers or even be considerate enough to put up a sign in the window explaining what happened.Outside, we met a couple who was celebrating a birthday, another couple who has just gotten married yesterday and were out celebrating, and another 8 other people out for a good night. Plus, my party of 5 thats spent $40 on Lyft rides to get there and home because we anticipated drinking at their venue. Im so disappointed.Edit #2:Heard back from Amy who responded promptly. She was kind and explained the refund is in process and gave us complimentary tickets to the next show. She was cool, but the whole experience from yesterday still blew chunks and wasted our evening. Props to Amy for handling the process well though
The comedy was good, the chicken was burned and cooked in old grease, wont order food the next time I go.
Its an amazing place very chill an relaxed never had a problem
Most of the time the comedy acts performances be great. However, the food is always slow, terrible and has no taste to it.
Had Good Show Last Night Hosting Comedian Boomarang THicks Shuler King & Monie Jonezy with My Comedian Guys .it was a great crown last night who said thatpThank You Improv for haveing me see you soon
This is by far the FUNNIEST place to go in Denver. The wait staff are AWESOME!! Its CLEAN (unlike the other comedy club I went to that was dirty and the whole place smelled like sewer) NOT at the Denver Improv, this place is on point EVERY TIME!! Only problem I have is my sides hurting from laughing so hard. Go check this place out you WONT be disappointed, GUARANTEED!!
Great place to release stress!!! Affordable and enjoy the food as well!!
Just went to see Greg Morton and he was amazing!!!! Seriously one of the funniest acts Ive seen here!!!!
Would give 0 stars. Waited in line outside in the cold for 90 minutes. Once inside they rushed you to place your order. Lots of frustrated people. Not enough servers. Terrible experience!!
Very nice, open room, good food and drinks.
Ive only been disappointed once, but I always have a good time when I go . I love, and appreciate the light atmosphere . The waitresses have gotten better .
Went to see DeRay Davis this place was funny had a good time
I love this place. Sometimes we will call at last minute to see if they have free tickets and they do most of the time. The food is awesome but get there early if you wanna eat. I the nachos with pulled pork are delicious. We love supporting upcoming acts and local comics to..
Great service but long wait to get in the door.
Had a great time at the Improv! Coco A Brown was dope kept us laughing all night!
I love the comedy shows and is always a good time!
This is a great place to see a comedy a show. The seating accommodates many people. Its not the most spacious, but does the job. Most times you can get a ticket last minute, or free through promo. The food isnt 5 star, but if you havent eaten, Its not bad. There is a two item minimum per set. Overall, I have never seen a bad show. The comedians usually are out front after the gig to talk or take pics. Definitely worth a Friday or Saturday night!
Had a real good time he all the comics was funny.
We love comedy this place has great comedians we often are able to get free tickets for a fun night
Long wait but the food was good and the show was hilarious!
Always come here. This time was by far the worst experience. The mic didnt work well. I was sitting next to a belligerent woman. Service was slow and incorrect. I love this place n come often... But after spending 200 for a show and hated it... Might not be back for a while
Nice place to go, good food expensive but good alot of good talent.
The establishment was great, the comedians were funny, but our waiter, Anthony was rude! We left him NO tip.
Great setting and great shows. Drinks are a little weak lol
The maitre d JJ, and the whole show was funny. Had a good time
Witnessed funny comedian DeRay Davis ! Great Venue!
Worst experience ever. Literally packed in the lobby with 100 other people. Show was supposed to start at 9:45 but they did not begin to seat us until about 10:30 or so and show started around 11. Not only that but we ordered our 2 item minimum and my best friend passed out during the show. I on the other hand was actively laughing and enjoying the show when security let us know that because he was sleep we had to leave. No warning or nothing!!! So here we are $76 spent for tickets and a bill of $61 for mozzarella sticks and flatbread pizza and 2 drinks, but I have to go! The main comedian had just come out. I just think that because we waited over an hour in the lobby to be seated and we’re spending money that a warning would have been fair, especially because I was enjoying the show. Bad business and I feel cheated!
Comedians funny. Service good. Food good.
Went to see Tony Baker and he was great! In my opinion the alcoholic drinks could have been a lot better.
Staff was pretty nice. Food and drinks were good. Would be 5 stars but the floors are sticky and the seats are kind of uncomfortable if you are taller than 55
