Very nice theater with comfy adjustable seats. If you join their rewards program which is free you get movie discounts and free popcorn on certain days. Prices are relative to other nice amenity theaters in town. Worth a try if you live close by.

Service is always timely even when they have a full house. The service was very friendly and attentive. The prices are fair for the quality of food.

One of the best 3D screens that I have ever been to. This place has a good parking facilities, nearby the road ( just next to University drive) and easy to reach. Movie Tavern has a unique facility of food and a movie. You can enjoy your food while watching a movie. The staffs are super friendly and they will make you feel home like you are watching movie in your home theater. You will never regret being there. A great place to be!!

Maybe just a little overpriced for the food but the screen is nice and all in all a good cinema to enjoy movies in.

Had a really great experience. They were short staffed due to reopening after covid but they bent over backwards to make our first movie outing with the kids a great one! Wpuld highly recommended!

Movie Tavern is a family friendly place. The service is courteous and consistent. The seating is comfortable and roomy. Prices are competitive with local area restaurants and the menu is perfect movie fare. They play popular blockbusters and other great movies that dont have as much notoriety but are great movies.

Been here twice. Great experience each time! Very courteous staff and food was good. They win extra points for customer service and professionalism - especially Harold. Give them a try if you haven’t already!

The movie tavern was clean and very nice, but the server (Madison) was slow, not helpful and not very friendly. We had our buttons pushed for at least 30 minutes prior to anyone getting to us. We told her we wanted her to split the tab at the end and she just dropped off the tab and never came back. The young man that brought us everything was great and you could tell that he was hustling and I wish I knew his name! I used to be a server and honestly Madison didn’t even deserve a tip.

Came here for the first time over the weekend. The reclining chairs were amazing! Thats the only way to watch a movie these days. The food and service was good. Theater was clean. Over all, it was a good time!

I enjoy Movie Tavern because of the comfortable seating and the fact that they bring snacks (or a full meal) to your seat. However I feel Movie Tavern is over priced even with the student discount. The only way it is a reasonable expenditure is with their rewards program. 5$ movie on Tuesdays and free popcorn. The rewards program is free to sign up for.

Great concept and the food is good. It doesnt seem to matter how early you get there though the food still takes a while to come out. Our latest experience there we arrived before they were seating our movie so we had some drinks at the bar, we looked over the food menu so we could order as soon as we were able to go to the theatre. We ordered right away, the party next to us arrived at the start of the movie and their food still managed to come out before ours. That was a real bummer. They have great deals on Tuesday if you are looking for a less expensive date night!

Was looking forward to a good time with my family but it really wasnt. The movie was nowhere near loud enough. If you sit in the very back, you can barely hear it. The screen is also ridiculously small compared to most theatres. We spent a little over $100 just for 3 of us, including food. It was $12 for both my husband and I and almost $9 for our 9 year old! We did their Valentine special but there was nothing special about it seems how the server was incompetent and got our order wrong which ended up with us having to pay MORE for HER mistake (with my husband having to wait over an hour to even get his food) and the food made us both sick and was disgusting. There was barely enough light to even SEE our food. My daughter didnt complain about her food but who could mess up mac n cheese with fruit? We should have saved the money we spent and made dinner at home and got a movie from Redbox instead. Very disappointed.

This is an excellent movie theater everyone works as a team even the managers get out on the floor helping their employees everyone goes above and beyond...heard people complaining today about many things listen folks I can remember a time when you were getting up getting your own stuff so lighten up and give these workers a break your there to see a movie not be waited on hand and foot! All you complainers stay home period!!!!

The food is always good and the theater itself is so cool.Also very cool that you can hang out there even if you dont have a movie to go to/theres stuff to do if you wanna hang out there before your movie.Tonight we actually had movie tickets but we intend to come back for trivia night!

This place has GREAT deals if you sign up for their free rewards member program. Tuesday movie tickets are less than $6 and if you sign up as a member you get free popcorn. I think there’s also food deals on certain days. Food is very pricey, but overall better than other dine-in theaters I’ve been to. Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful!

This place is just okay. I’ve lived in Denton for a long time and been here a lot and it’s not good or bad. Recliners are comfy but the whole place does have a strange smell to it. It’s definitely not my go-to theater and never will be. Food is meh considered it’s overpriced.

Have always really liked this place but I have not been in awhile and yesterday was not great. Started off strong - I had purchased three tickets online and one person couldnt come at the last minute. Was surprised and happy that the theater gave me a refund. Went downhill from there - service was extremely slow! Took probably 30 minutes to get our soft drinks and another 30 minutes to get our food - and it was cold when it arrived. My daughter turned on her light to get a refill on the $5.00 soft drink and no one ever came. Spent $45.00 on one cold appetizer, one cold entree and two soft drinks. Also, the movie beside us was so loud, I sometimes had a hard time hearing the movie I was in. Will have to really think about it before I go back.

I had a wonderful experience there.The movie started right on time with not many previews.the service was fast and the food there was delicious and reasonably priced.I Definitely would recommend going here if your wanting a movie date night out but not wanting to spend alot of money.

This was a fun experience for date night. We spent some time in the pub and chatted with the barkeep about movies and being local to the area. He was so nice and friendly - it really made our visit get off to a great start. The theater was really comfortable and we appreciated the open, friendly greetings we got from every staff member. We plan to come more often!

When Alamo moved in to town, I remained loyal to Movie Tavern for two reasons. First, I didnt like how Alamo threatened to kick people our for talking because I felt like it wasnt friendly to people with kids. The second reason was because Movie Taverns veggie burger and fries were much better than Alamos. Today we went to Movie Tavern, and I learned that not only have they taken the veggie burger off of the menu, but they also have MUCH fewer vegetarian entree options. Also, they now include a pre-movie message that says that anyone who talks will be asked to leave. So now I have no more reasons to go to Movie Tavern, and Alamo still has veggie burgers, which I can no longer get at Movie Tavern. I also dont like how the owner of Marcus Theaters always has to show an ad of himself before the movie; its arrogant. Bye, Movie Tavern.

Very much improved from what it used to be. Im glad they revamped the place; its a much better movie-going experience now than it was before.

Any issues I have ever had, were handled immediately. We come almost every other week. Always friendly staff. Good food although a bit overpriced. It’s still great though. My number 1 theatre

My husband and I LOVE movies and we decided to give the Movie Tavern another try, we hadnt been in several years, after I received a recommendation from a customer of mine. The chairs were very comfortable and the theater was clean. However, we had to wait a considerably long time to be served, all the while witnessing people who had sat down after we did being served first. I ordered two alcoholic drinks and was disappointed that there were maybe 3 sips in the glass and it was 90% ice -- waste of money. I dont think well visit again any time soon; well be sticking to the Alamo or AMC Hickory Creek 16.

My family and I visit Movie Tavern almost every Tuesday for $5.00 tickets. If you are a rewards card holder you get a free individual popcorn. The chairs are comfy and recline and are simple to get up unlike Alamo Drafthouse. No complaints about the food other than its a little pricey.

Food was pretty good, but typically over priced, which I know to expect. Service was good, chairs are comfortable. Highly recommend the movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Done so well.

Its a bit pricey but definitely worth it (and Im a cheap person, lol). A trip here for a family of three is the same amount (tickets+food) as if a family of five went out to eat. Great family experience I go with my mom and brother once a month and I look forward to it every time!

I have have been going to for years now and Im so disappointed in the food under the new management. The food here used to be better than their competitors and was the main reason for me making the drive to this theatre. The only reason its not a one star was that the hostess was very nice and removed the sweet tasting Mac with (no) cheese and comped the price from the receipt. They got a nice new remodel but are obviously did not invest in their menu. Will likely go to Alamo from now on.

A bit expensive for food and drinks but thats expected at a movie theater. Super comfy reclining loungers with a small moveable tray for your food. Bring a blanket and wear comfy clothes and easy to slip off shoes and its the best movie experience ever!

I really do love coming here. The recliners are very comfortable, and allow you to sit in any seat and fully enjoy the movie (even front row) We always get the combination nachos and love them. It would be 5 stars but the last couple of times we went the servers were rude. Still my favorite place to watch a movie though.

Weve been visiting here for a while now. Movies always great. It seems the menu changed recently, and I had the loaded mac and cheese and it was just alright. Will try something else next time. Customer service always great. Clean theater.

This place has excellent service. We loved the space and the seats were super comfortable. The app was good and we like the fact that there were no fees when getting tickets ahead of time and ticket prices are reasonable. The reward system is great because it doesn’t take as long to earn rewards. The theater is a bit out of the way from where we live but totally worth the drive. And how can I forget the huge 42 ounce Tavern mug of beer that is also a souvenir after purchasing it and you can bring it back. You can bring this mug back, it can be replaced with a nice new chilled one for your next paid refill of beer. So awesome.

We enjoyed our visit for the most part. The staff was kind, helpful and attentive. The only issue we had, was that we ordered our son their chicken nachos. It lists all the ingredients. Not listed, but heaped on throughout and on top of the entire order were jalapenos. Hes ASD and cant abide hot foods..we simply swapped plates around and enjoyed the show.

Love this place. Love the Tuesday $5 deals! Theater is always clean staff is always friendly.But I have one MAJOR complaint. If Im going to purchase a beverage with my meal I cannot stand getting only one refill during my meal and a 2 1/2 hour movie. The bottom has been pushed/light is on. They come by eventually. Never come back. Then put blame on other servers for not bringing my refill. Has happened last two visits. By the way, there are 6 in our party.

The main manager stole my ticket pass card out of my hands and refused to give it back, not manager material if you ask me... Took everything in me to not call corporate on him with his rudeness. If I remember correctly his name is David so watch out for the guy

I had to kill some time with my family so, we decided on this place. This place has a bar and full restaurant. You can order food and drinks including alcohol from your seats. If you get there too early like we did you will find yourself waiting in the bar which is kid friendly to. No problem at all. The staff was friendly and explained how everything works.

Couldnt get refills turned the button on for 15 minutes nothing . Will never come back here again. Poor service. The nachos didnt have enough chicken on them. I got about 6 pieces of chicken.

Good food, nice seating, full bar. When this place was under construction it was horrible. Now that they have finished all that, its really quite nice.

We love going here for family time and date nights. the seats recline to a perfect level, the food is good, and the service is pretty attentive. i feel like they could add some different menu items as the last menu change took away a few of my faves, but change happens.

This place is awesome, you can absolutely get tickets greater than 30 minutes in advance and then wait in the lobby, the staff is helpful, the seats are nice, they recline by the way. They serve food and drink during the movie btw. And the tickets are discounted for students, military, senior citizens. I highly recommend coming here to see the latest and greatest movies!

This place is unbelievable! Nobody cares about customer service. The bartender is sitting at the bar watching football..Ive been sitting here for twenty minutes not one employee has acknowledged me. BIG RED FLAG.

Favorite movie theater in the area! The food selection is wide and delicious. I would recommend trying their chicken chipotle sliders. Service is prompt and friendly. The recliners are comfortable with a personal table. The table to not to close or to far, especial for someone who is short who has had issue reaching dinner movie tables in the past due to being so far from the chair.

This place looks old on the outside but boy was I surprised by the inside. The prices are comprable. The Tuesday deals and student discounts are great and the seats are comfortable. Oh and they have complimentary water. Havent tried any food outside of popcorn and fries but will definitely return.

Ever since they changed ownership service and atmosphere has been really bad. Items have been late or completely forgotten. They comped our tickets and so we visited again but it was the same issues. Last year this place was great. But not anymore. Try Alamo or Cinemark for an enjoyable experience.

Comfortable seating, good food, and an overall fun experience. My only negative is the cost. Almost all meals are $14 and up, and our tickets were $12 each. It makes it hard to bring a family.

My sister and I love Drag Queen Night and Trivia Night so much that we attend both every week! Such a great place! So happy to call this my go-to theater choice!

My husband and I have been Movie Tavern buffs for many years now and we love the new venue. Its very inviting and most comfortable. However, we are very disappointed with the change in the food offered. It used to be very good and a little less expensive. We continue to go and each time we try something different on the menu, looking for a tasty dish. Each time weve met with disappointment. Its as if its about speed of delivery and be damned the taste. Many once available tasty items are no longer on the menu. I suppose they take too much prep time. As for this long term patron, I will eat elsewhere prior to coming to the movie. The food is no longer a reason to be there for us.

Not understanding the point of a movie “tavern” when the bar is closed at 5:30 pm on a Saturday evening. My husband and I came early after dropping our baby off with my mother for the evening, hoping to enjoy some quality time and a drink together before our movie. Instead, we are stuck sitting in our car for 40 minutes wasting gas. I will keep this mind on future date nights and drive to a theater/bar that actually delivers what is advertised.

The sats are comfortable, the food is prime, and the staff is friendly. Whats not to love? Plus, movie + beer = awesome.

Love the seats. There is a nice assortment of food and the kids have the option for a fruit cup instead of fries. Sometimes they seem understaffed, but they have always been polite and helpful.

Okay this is a great movie theater and concept but the food isnt very good anymore. For example the wings are very salty. A dt soda alone $5.10 each. They do have $5 Tuesday movies w free popcorn. I have been going here for years and l just wish the food was better. Ticket prices are $8.50 matinee and normally after $10-12 per adult. Food prices are about $ 15 per person + tax+ tip. Otherwise the theater seats a very relaxing recliners & sound is great.

Smaller location and the food menu is also smaller than other locations. Cinemas are nice but could use an upgrade.

Used to really enjoy this place but since the renovation its gone downhill in a big way. Tickets are way too expensive, food is expensive and NOT good at all. Alamo Drafthouse is a much better value with much better food.

It is with much sadness that I have to write this review. I have been going to this theater regularly for the past two years. It must have changed ownership or management or something in the last couple of months, because the quality of food has greatly changed. Gone are the specialty dishes such as the ahi tuna salad and the ever so yummy sweet potato tots. In place are items that I can find in the Costco freezer section. Tonight three of us ordered burgers of some type and all of them were burnt. They used to have big, juicy burgers. Last week I ordered the barbecue chicken pizza and had to send it back because the barbecue sauce tasted like something that just was not barbecue sauce. The only reason for the one star is for the awesome, fun Wednesday night trivia hosted by the friendly, cool Caleb. looks like a classic case of new owners trying to save a buck at the expense of their customer. It has not gone unnoticed and it will affect my attendance there. Theres too many other really nice movie theaters to stick to one whos quality is now subpar.

Great movie theater! On Tuesdays tickets are only $5 and they give you a small bag of popcorn for free! They have totally renovated this theater if you havent been in a while. The food isnt bad for a theater.

Seems like today just isnt their day. Service was slow. Thay had no idea who got what even though the seats are numbered. Also if you thinking about bringing a baby, please dont. Its annoying to hear a baby cry through out my movie.

We love this place. Comfortable electric recliners. full menu with everything from ice cream sundaes to steak and shrimp dinners. All of it brought to your seat right there in the theater. Plus Tuesdays free popcorn.

Excellent place to grab a dinner and movie! The service is great and the delicious food ranges from apps and pub style food to chef inspired cuisines. Many beers to chose from including local brews and the specialty drinks get pretty creative, especially if it’s themed to a new release. They had butterbeer flavored mixed drinks when we went for Fantastic Beasts 2. This theater also hosts throwback movies for two days every week so you can catch your favorites back on the big screen. Great atmosphere and location with ample parking.

Watched a great movie but the food service was lacking. Had to ask for my drink twice, most of the blue thing was melted. And then I had to ask for the correct wing sauce. He ended up bringing me a selection of sauces... all I asked for was bbq sauce.

The quality has declined at this location. My party and I ordered the same meal. Three members of my part received their meals. Mine was not brought out. I had to request it two seperate times. Over an hour later the meal was brought out. No excuse was offered, it was cold. The lounge was dark and unmanned. Does it have a separate operating scheduled? The restrooms wer also dark and unkept. At least the seats were comfortable.

In a nutshell, I get the distinct impression that nobody who works here wants my money. What a shame after all the renovations; someone spent a buttload on this place and Alamo, which is better in every single way, will surely run them out of business soon enough.

I love Movie Traven, I am from out of state and we dont have one at home. The menu has changed a little, awesome. The prices are a little high. I love the reclining chairs. But all in all nice place to watch a movie.

This place is always a good time. From their new delicious food to the comfy reclining chairs they never disappoint. Seats fill up fast, though, so I would recommend buying them in advance so you can get your favorite spot!

Ive only been to this theater once before so I asked where to find the complimentary popcorn that you get when you buy tickets on Tuesdays, the host was really sweet and said she could bring the popcorn to me, she also asked if I wanted to buy a drink and informed me that refills were free I ordered one drink and I was charged about $6 for that drink, which isnt awful, the cups are large, but I am a college student on a budget. I waited 15-20mins thinking that I would receive my drink and popcorn at the same time the drink came but no popcorn, completely okay host was busy server was busy people forget its no big deal I found the complimentary popcorn and went back to my movie. Later I asked for a refill on the drink which again I thought refills were free, because I was told so. The movie came to an end and I did not receive a receipt to check if I was properly charged, and truthfully at the time I didnt think much of it because it was one drink.. Today I check my bank account I see I was charged roughly $11 that was a bit upsetting. People were talking the entire movie, a couple was fighting in that case Im not sure who is supposed to intervene.. Understandably service was busy however, became distracting a lot of pacing back and forth, talking, and standing in confusion to find their guests.. Unfortunately the people next to us were being picky eaters and were continuously asking for service only to have them return or cancel their orders. Needless to say they were also distracting. The people who work there have been kind and helpful I understand they are just doing their job and have plenty to do so there can be confusion at times. Disappointed at the mistake on the bill and sad that there were so many distractions. At the end of the day Ive realized next time I go I will make sure to ask for a receipt and check my charge.
