Great place for teens and smaller children!The music is questionable for younger children but they blank out bad words! The price is pretty good...it could be a little cheaper but its still worth it! I like the homeschool program! Keep going its like my entire childhood lol

$6/person to skate and play games. This place hasnt changed much since 1983 but thats a good thing. You come in grab skates and hit the floor to have fun, play games, and laugh. Great on rainy days when the kids are out of school.

This place is satisfying. It just needs a bit of a better, and larger arcade selection. Also some things werent perfect, but the rest is good enough to go. Food and drinks are okay. Could be better, but could be worse.They also got laser-tag. But I have not tried it yet. So I will go for it next visit. And hope it will be pretty fun like 10 years ago, from another laser tag place that long closed down.P.S: I have now Tried Laser-tag. And it is pretty good. The bad thing about it is, it is a short area, so not a lot of moving. But you play and take on 5 other players in a free for all. Or a team battle of 2-3 teams. You can take hits, then go down after a few hits in a row. Should you still have life in your vest, take cover to regenerate the life of the vest. You got 4 targets to shoot at the player. Chest, shoulders, back, and gun. Hit them to damage the enemy, and enough times will shut them down for good points. Its a decent and quite fun.

I had fun skating! Hadnt skated in over a decade, but it was like riding a bike. My little sister and her friend enjoyed themselves at ski- ball and skating. Certainly felt the need to watch their interactions carefully though... Avoid the ball pit, Ive heard some bad stories! I didnt actually see a ball pit, but I wasnt looking for one either.

It has something for all ages

I used to come here when I was younger and I loved it. I have since then moved out of town and when I came back to visit I was so excited to stop by again. Unfortunately I was super disappointed. The staff was very rude and the place is full of little teenagers who were not very kind. I was skating next to the nine year old I brought with me and when he fell I stopped to help him up, immediately we were yelled at for stopping and threatened to be kicked out. Which I understand for safety reasons you don’t want people stopped but the whole reason he fell was because a kid flew past him and knocked him over. Also when I was walking out, not even on the rink a kid nearly knocked me over. No one is watching them, or asking them to slow down and watch for people. I was just very frustrated and left feeling like a really wasted my money. If you have little ones or aren’t an expert skater maybe find a different place.

Ive been bringing my kids to the skate castle for years but tonight was first night Ive been since new owners/remodeled. I brought a group and they had a blast! The new owner is very nice and all the staff I encountered was helpful and friendly. Lots to do in addition to skating, the package deal is a good value. The parents helping chaperone enjoyed the adult only massage chair room. It is very secure, there are monitors everywhere and a police officer. While I was waiting out front to sign in people from my group I witnessed they dont let the kids leave the skating rink without an adult, I liked that. I also witnessed one young man try to sneak in without paying but the lady at the window handled it professionally and gave him a second chance. I also heard some young men using profanity but heard the staff professionally handle it with a warning would you talk like that if your parent was here. They want a clean fun family atmosphere and I appreciate that, my group will be back! I would also like to add my group was diverse, we had African American, Hispanic and Caucasian people in our group. Everyone was treated with respect. Dont listen to the negative reviews about them, go see for yourself and have a good time.

Fights supposedly happen all the time here and they dont call the cops because its not their responsibility. Anytime there is a physical altercation on property you are expected to call the police, especially if there are severe injuries and minors involved. A poor 13yo girl got jumped here yesterday and no one called 911 until her family came to pick her up hours later. How are patrons supposed to feel safe if this establishment is apathetic to this violence?

The drink machines were broken. They were serving drinks out of 2 liter bottles and my diet mt dew was flat. All the vending machines for snacks were empty. It is a Sunday afternoon and slushy machine was not operating either. What is the deal? They only had 5 of the skate walkers for kids who do not skate well.

For those of you out there that dont know what a skating center should be like....come to Funland and find out!! Its fun, its clean and ever and over accommodating. All of the staff(from the bottom to the top(Lisa Lee) makes families of all races and creed feel instantly welcome and safe. Morgan countys finest are on scene at all times to make sure of it too. Thanks to all staff!!

I was there for my Granddaughter Carolines birthday party and I had a great time. Music wasnt that loud and really clean place

It’s hard to watch a place I enjoyed as a kid become what it is today. I don’t know where to start. The floor has not been refinished for some time. I have visited several times in the last few years and have never seen a shine on it. On top of that it is covered in dust. Very little cleaning done. A decision was made to remove the water fountain and you will now be charged $100 for tap water. Absolutely ridiculous. Don’t even attempt to purchase any food items as I received my order of “nachos” on a paper plate. If we are trying to be as unprofessional as possible as a business, nailed it. And as petty as it sounds the music is terrible. Even the kids think it’s a little ridiculous to skate to luke Bryan. I miss the 90’s when this place was really nice. I get up here, I will not be returning.

I would give it zero stars if I could. Whoever owns this place obviously could care less about it or it’s customers. The floor is in horrible shape and the music terrible. I skated here as a kid in the 90’s and it was amazing. It’s horrible how it has fallen apart. I’ll be taking my kids somewhere else from now on.

We went to a birthday party here over the weekend. I had to pay a fee to use my own debt card to get drinks and food. Very poor customer service. I will not go back. Will go to Huntsville from now on out.

Isnt as fun as it used to be When the old owners had it. No new music they play songs over and over on repeat. Could be better . prices went up on concessions . its okay but not like it used to be . personally I think the white plain walls are ugly . it was better before.

Havent been since it was renovated. Took my son recently and the lady who works the front was very rude from the time I walked in. Also there was an officer there which is great for saftey. However, for some reason the officer would give me a dirty look when he passed..even when I would smile at him. Weird environment. Will not be going back.

About a year ago was the first time Ive been to the ol skate castle in probably 20 years! So today made a second lol and it was fun skating inside this old but very well maintained skating rink facility! Although, it could use some improvements, most importantly better air conditioning!!!

Its fun and I would go every Weekend. The people are really nice. But I wish the owners would play more old-school classics.

This place is awful, they dont like black people and dont mind letting it be known. The games didnt work, they have old church benches for seats. The party room is sorry an the owner is the main one, dont waist your money. They stopped playing R&b thinking blacks would stop coming there. Ive never been treated so badly. If you look at the pics they advertise there are no blacks it Hispanic people. Dont go there period

I take my kids to skate castle every Saturday morning. They added a few new things and went up on prices for admission. I didnt appreciate it one bit. I feel that they shouldnt charge extra for admission if children arent using their new equipment. Admission should remain the same and they should charge separately for their new features that makes me feel like Im paying for their new features but to able to use them.

Its a great inexpensive family fun place to go.. I havent been since I was a kid myself. The new owner has made it even better than it was back then. Theres way more things to do.. Not only can u skate your heart out to the same skate music from back then, but if you get tired you can take a break and play Laser Tag or Trampoline Basketball or ride the awesome new ride the Gyro-Chair. My favorite.. They also still have old favorites like Ski-Ball and Air Hockey. And Parents get ready!! They have the best Massage Chairs ever. I was actually dissapointed they were closing that day. Those feelings took me even further back to my childhood.

Its only improved with age ..

We recently got invited to go to the skate rink during a half day of school with some 2nd grade class mates of my daughter’s. We showed up at around 1pm, but little did we know that the skating rink was closing soon.The owner was SO VERY AWESOME, and opened up the skating rink for us 3 adults & around 7 children, even allowing us to stay there and have fun for hours, although they were technically closed! On top of all that, we didn’t have to pay to get in or pay for the skate rentals! (We were under the wrong impression that they were taking canned food donations in form of payment for entry).I just could not get over how incredibly awesome the owner AND the staff that was there, was!! Not only did they ALL do us a huge favor by allowing us to even BE there during closing hours, but they were SOOOOO friendly and fun about the whole thing! One of the staff (a female- I can’t recall her name) even went so far as to take song & game requests from the 2nd graders!I’ve been going to the skate castle with my children for almost 16 years. My children have even had multiple birthday parties there under the old management/owners, and I have to say; I have never had so much fun as I did that day. Not only would I highly recommend this place for great family fun, I’m personally looking forward to going back myself.Great job, new skate castle owners!!

Management is very rude. There are no water fountains so you have to buy water if you get hot skating.(The management will provide a cup for you to drink from the bathroom sink). Very little skate music.

The experience was fun but sometimes when I go my mom takes me but one of the workers has a big black dog and my mom is scared of dogs which is not good for people to come that are scared of dogs or allergic to them also there food is nasty there pizza taste like cardboard an there nachos taste nasty to also the rinkIs always dirty sometimes it would have candy wrappers on it also a lot of fights happen but the reason I gave it 3 stars is because sometimes it’s really fun and I really like skating also the skates need to be replaced and the rink to because in the middle of the rink it’s a little cracked and usually I trip on it it but that’s just my opinion

Gave it one star because our party was rushed, and they false advertise...no hotdog or ice cream for the party, they didn’t offer unlimited drinks like they said, no prize for the kids at the party, the bumper cars were not an option, not to mention it’s very dangerous next to the kids jumping area because of he “gyro chair” which is a large mechanical seat that spins and flips really fast and the children were all around it trying to walk into the jumping area, one small child actually was turning the handles to the chair while the “operator” was strapping riders in. This could kill a kid easily. WAY TO DANGEROUS FOR KIDS! Worst party experience ever.

This place is really awesome. I read most of the reviews before coming. I am really impressed. The bathrooms need updating. Other than that this place is the best skating rink Ive ever been too!

It was nice the staff was great friendly and overall very professional now the food was good pizza tasted tho as if it was pre cooked a hour ago some people can be mean or rude overall this place should be more on people visit and go to list 4 stars

My experience was not good. I spoke to the owner Ms. Lisa and got a price. That price was not relayed to the other staff members, so it was always a miscommunication. I attempted to go sit down with Lisa on several occasions she was always gone. I left my number for her to call. she never called it was other staff that did not knowing what was discussed. The day of the party, I arrived at 6:10pm, mind you the party was to start at 8. to look around and set up early after they closed from normal business hours. They told me even though they were closed there would be someone there so that I could set up. I was asked to come back at 7:15 to 7:30. Ms. Lisa advised they had to clean up and set back up. No problem I agreed. When I got there at 7:30 well a little before there was no one there. the doors were closed, the lights were off. No staff present. so I proceeded to call the owners son. I spoke with him, he was at dinner. He said that he will be there in a few. As I waited, 2 staff members arrived waiting as well on the owner to open the door. When he arrived at 7:45 mind you the party starts at 8 oclock. He lets his staff in and says give us a min to set up and get situated. This was supposed to have happened at 6pm. We still havent set up for the party. By this time you know the annoyance and frustration was at a all time high. I contacted Lisa son a few minutes later and advised him the party starts at 8pm. He stated he did not know that we needed to come in early to set up as it was not relayed to him by his mom and he told his staff to be ther at 745pm again party starts at 8pm. The 1st conversation started at the beginning of the week every time i called to speak with the owner she was gone and I spoke with someone else who also did not communicate with other staff so I had to explain everytime I got some one new which was 4 different people. The party was suppose to be 8pm to 11pm. They cut a hour stating Lisa said party was over at 10pm. That was not discussed. When I spoke to someone other than Lisa they had to constantly call Lisa to verify what was already discussed. They also tried to add another $50 to the price for security which was not discussed either. After all of that and the lack of communication and not being let in, The party was cancelled. We did not want to give these people any money. And on top of all of that, I seen Lisa at 620 and when I spoke to her son to speak to Lisa when I finally was let in to get the party stuff of course she was MIA again!!!!!!. Go Figure!!! I do not recommend this place to have a party. Lisa is a ghost in the night you never know when you will see her.. Very Very dissatisfied!!!!!!!!AGAIN DO NOT RECOMMENDNOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL!! COMMUNICATION BETWEEN STAFF MEMBERS VERY POOR!!!!!!!!

Do not let your girls go to this place. Girls are being attacked, and multiple, multiple fights.

I have been coming here off and on over the years (first through my childhood and now for my children). Even though we live in Madison I still prefer to drive to Decatur to continue the tradition. I feel they are able to change with the times and are sensitive to different needs of people as best as is possible in a diverse society. They offer many different options for different ages and skate levels and try to be as accommodating as possible.

Attended a birthday party, very pleased. The play area and bounce house was awesome for my small children who couldnt get the hang of skating.

I wonder if my comment will be deleted on here the way they delete it on their facebook page..Id give 0 stars if possible. To clarify, I LOVED the skate castle when JA was the owner. I grew up going to the skate castle frequently & Ive been taking my kids since they were old enough to skate. While I knew Id miss JA, I was looking forward to the improvements & hopefully more family oriented atmosphere that the new owner promised.I asked a question on their fb page. I was wondering if the price was different if you brought your own skates.. like it was with JA. The owners son, Beau, assumed I was complaining about the price & started cussing me. Then he deleted all of the comments, but I saved the screen shots first. Over several months I watched the page & it was disturbing to say the least. I was far from the first or last person that he treated that way. Its become a trend. He blows up on people then deletes it all. Any comments that arent positive get deleted. Thankfully, most people have screen shots saved to prove how these owners really treat people.So I started commenting again to ask Beau why he treats people like that, including myself. My comment kept getting deleted. The next morning he had sent me a private, threatening message. Then he blocked me so I couldnt respond. Then I got the owners attention (which is his mother). Her response was generic bs AND blocking me from the skate castle page. She has yet to respond to my message about her sons behavior. I most definitely havent gotten an apology. My husband brought it up on their fb page after a week of no response to me. He was swiftly deleted in less than 30 minutes.In short, Beau has major anger issues & has no business being around kids. Heaven forbid a child doesnt kiss the ground he walks on & he ends up snapping on them. Also, I can say for certain that the owner, Lisa, does not know how to handle the public side of a business. They are extremely unprofessional. They have managed to alienate most of the local families that regularly visited the skate castle BEFORE they even opened their doors back up. The best family fun park...mom and dad play a round of putt putt gold while the kids skate..and you can take your spring cleaning items and put in your storage there until your ready to do your yardsale.

Me and my husband and two kids went to skate we paid 30$ total once we were there for 45 min they called for everyone to leave at six or pay another 30$ to stay its a rip off and they should let u know that after six on Saturday u will have to pay again I would have just brought my family at six if I would have known my two year old and three year old cried all the way home the owner is a rude hateful old man and I do not recommend this place to any family trying to have fun! A good family place would have let my family stay since we had just got there and just paid. ....horrible owner grumpy miserable old man

This is a great, local run business. I have had both of my daughters birthday parties here multiple times. You can not beat what you get for the price! The staff is helpful and attentive, the pizza is decent for a skating rink, and there is no riff raff. The DJs are great and always play the songs my daughters request. I definitely recommend this place for not only birthday parties but also just to go for fun!

Prices too high to regularly visit. Went from $2.00 adm. + $3.00 skate rental to $9.00 skate rental included or you can do owners can thing which is $4.50 + 4 cans at $1.09 a piece = $8.86. Her free passes are not free you must bring 4 cans ($4.36) & skate rental is extra (?). Its good place to take kids but like Chuck E Cheese its a every 3 or 4 month thing. Has way too much going on to enjoy just skating. Also her only response to any criticism on her prices is that she doing a wonderful, pat herself on the back thing by giving to a food drive. Like no one else gives to charity....Update tried to go back maybe I misjudged. I went on a Thursday night in May hours are 4-9pm I arrived at 7pm to be told they are closing went back the next week only to close early again. On the 2nd try owner Lisa Lee promised to talk with Rick Wallace about her son kicking him out over a cup of water she said she would get her son & all 3 talk never happened she disappeared. Terrible management!! The skate floor was nasty & had trash on over it. Music was not anything to skate to. I really miss the old rink & management I could trust for everyones safety. You will not find it here! Be sure to watch your children if you go here no one is watching out for them. Lawsuit waiting to happen.....

Ive been going here since I was my sons age now I get to enjoy it with him all over again . Its a great family place and I enjoy the atmosphere :) The employees are always very nice and helpful :) The price is very reasonable and its always a blast :)

Nice rink with huge skate floor

Family friendly enviroment, great for children parties. A little out of date, but then again what skating rink doesnt look like its from the 70s or 80s? But that being said, its been kept up very well and is not run down. All in all a great friendly place.

I love scary skate I went the yesterday Friday 13 2016 it was so fun.

My kids can not get enough of this place. Prices not bad and they are adding a lot more things for them to do.

I was extremely appalled at how a medical situation was handled a couple of months ago. My 7 year old daughter hit her head in the play room and was sobbing uncontrollably in the food area. Being the environment, falls and accidents will happen. But when I went to the employee at the counter and asked for a bag of ice because my daughter was injured, she said, find a manager, it has to be okayed through them, and kept doing whatever she was doing. My daughter was visible from where said employee was standing, was surrounded by people and crying while my husband was checking her head. She showed no urgency to find a manager so that I could continue to check on my child. SHE should have gone to get a manager. Mind you, no one was needing service at that time but me. But thats beside the point. I had to find a manager myself to get a bag of ice! I wasnt asking for a cup of ice to eat. If this is policy, it is ABSOLUTELY ABSURD! I am an adult asking for a simple gesture. Being a kid friendly environment, you would think that an employee can see an injured child and make the correct assessment of whether I really needed ice and consult a manager afterwards. However, a floor ref did come up and check on her. I believe his name was zack. Thank you for showing concern for my child on her special day. Your so-called policy needs to be revised immediately. Two months after the fact, J.A. Phillips contacted me via facebook, basically told me that its policy to get a manager first. You know what? The employee should do that AFTER giving me the ice. Not once did a manager check on my daughter or see of she needed further medical assistance. A gash on her head isnt something to play with but the rude employee behind the counter Natalie showed zero concern and told me to find a manager to okay it through them! For a bag of ice? What a joke! Bathrooms were unsanitary, water fountain broken, stall doors wouldnt hinge at all. Absolutely ridiculous. Such a sad thing that the place I once loved as a child has gone so far downhill. Rude, incapable employees are simply something that I cant stand. Being a former manager of a child friendly environment myself, this is NOT how a business should run!

Ok so like the mean troll guy gives my new shoes that I just bought for my child away then tell me its my fault because those were not the skates they gave me but im like mf yall gave me the skates so how is that my fault like i can walk back there and pick my skates out come on now.. after all the fussing and fussing I did he slams 20 on the table and Then i get put out after spending almost 200 bucks in there because i want a refund for my child shoes where they do that at... at the skate castle in Decatur al smh he was very rude the manager
