What a fantastic place to go. There was a special event on Veterans Day where the museum had over 50 volunteers that were pilots or crew members on various aircraft on hand for the day to talk about those aircraft. My dad flew the C-47 during WWII and the gentleman there gave a great talk.We ended up spending the day there looking at all the exhibits.A great place for a family outing

I’ve been here eleven total times, since I was a little boy to now forty. They’re always expanding and making this place better and better. I’ve been to several military museums and this one never gets old. Next time I visit, I plan on devoting a couple days to completely enjoy this museum. You can’t see everything in just a couple hours. You arrive at opening and be sure to leave at least an hour for the gift shop (especially if u have kids... they’ll want EVERYTHING!!)I know this sounds weird but, I think this place would be most awesome if it came alive at night (like that movie), just a thought.Be sure to attend a free guided tour. Each tour guide has their own style and experience, making every visit more interesting than the next. The museum is always very clean and well maintained. I’d give six stars if it was available! There’s ample parking for handicapped & RVs as well. After the museum, the local Beaver Creek area is nice place to catch a bite to eat and has several hotels to choose from.Hope to see u there, you won’t regret it!

Great fun trip to take kids to or even just adults to explore and learn. The museum is huge so you could spend all day here or multiple days and the admission is free is so even better. Most of the aircraft that you could normally go in was closed off due to CoVid but it is what it is and still enjoyed it. The cafe was closed so pack a lunch, go with a full belly or leave and come back.... Its free!!!

This is the premier military aircraft museum in the United States. I have been here a few times over the last 35 years and it is now very large and comprehensive. Plus free. The displays are organized in a group of large structures in Dayton Ohio. Be sure you wear comfortable shoes as the buildings are extremely large and it takes quite a bit of walking to see most or even some of the exhibits. Take a camera and be sure it works well in low light.

Unbelievable place. The museum is free and arranged in several interconnected hangars. Tons of historical, futuristic, military, civilian and concept crafts. Go with plenty of time, as it can take hours to complete. Very informative with interactive exhibits scattered throughout. Five out of five stars. Must see whether you are interested in history or not. The scale of the place will blow you away.

This is my most favorite place. The history is amazing. The planes are amazing. The staff are all volunteers and they all have a wealth of knowledge to share. Best of all, it is FREE! However, they do off different levels of donation memberships which I am proud to donate to such a wonderful place. But you are not required to donate to enjoy all the history, places and amazing volunteer staff.

Theres something for everyone here who loves military aviation. There are stories to accompany the many restored aircraft from the Wright Brothers, World War 1 & 2, Vietnam and to the experimental aircraft. Make sure you give yourself at least 4 hours to see everything and have on decent shoes, although there are several places for you to sit and have a break. There is also a cafe available for light meals and you can bring water into the museum.

The place is absolutely amazing, and has something for everyone! If you’re an aviation enthusiast you’ll want to give yourself the entire day to enjoy the museum. I originally planned to be here about 4 hours, but ended up adjusting my itinerary and staying from open to close, and still didn’t get to take in every single exhibit. One recommendation would be to actually start at the end and work your way toward the front, that way if you need to take a break, or see one of their films, you won’t have to back track through the museum past things you’ve already seen to pick up where you left off.

A great place to take family or friends who are interested in the history of the USAF. Admission is free, and the gift store and concessions are reasonably priced. As a prior USAF member myself, its nice to see the staff wont try to sell you on best guess facts about the history and exhibits. It will take some time to see all it has to offer, but its well worth it. From the beginning of flight to the creation of Space Force, this place has something for all ages.

Absolutely excellent museum with aircraft from the beginning up through modern times. Aircraft are generally separated by time period, and each has a detailed board explaining key facts about the aircraft. This was an excellent place to visit during COVID as there is plenty of space to distance from others while taking in the aircraft.I would certainly reccomend to anyone interested in aircraft.

Best aircraft museum I’ve ever seen. Gives the Udvar Hazy a run for its money but I believe this one takes the cake. It’s an immense museum that has a massive gallery. A ton of airplanes, but not a bad exhibit in this whole museum. Such a cool place and so many cool sights. There is a lot of walking involved with seeing it but in my opinion well worth it. I have a difficult time with walking a lot but they have benches everywhere and it’s well worth it to explore this whole museum and get all that you can out of it! It’s such an impressive museum for being free.

A great place to go if youre interested in the Air Force, airplanes, or even just machines and history. Obviously focused on Air Force history and experience, but includes and illustrates how that goes into history at large as well. A world class collection of planes all under roof and climate controlled for you to enjoy as much or as little as you like.Masks are required, and other measures are in place, as to be expected, although one restaurant is open for meals and the theaters and simulators are running. Plenty of kid friendly parts, and the galleries are laid out in a way that allows you to enjoy however much you want without having to trek the whole museum once youre committed.Has been a favorite of this plane nut since high school, and nothing about that has changed a good many years later!

So much history and mind blowing progress in aviation - I can’t say enough about it. You just have to see for yourself. One of my favorite museums to visit, and one of my favorite sites in Ohio. A huge amount of aircraft and other exhibits on display, spanning different eras of flight from the first aircraft to the most recent ones. There are a lot of rare and unique aircraft, weapons, and artifacts on display. They even have Memphis Belle, and that should be more than enough of a reason to visit alone! Make sure you set aside at least 2 hours if you are quickly walking through or around 4-5 if you like to stop and read everything like myself. I cant give this museum enough praise, but the fact that I have gone back there at least once every year should be enough proof that it is worth your time. Oh, did I mention admission is free? Of course, feel free to leave a donation to help keep this wonderful museum open. What a wonderful museum, not only for history fans like myself, but also for the casual aviation fan who just appreciates aircraft! 10/10 worth trip every time!

The Air Force Museum on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is likely the biggest and best aviation museum in the world!Over 100 aircrafts are on display in this national treasure of a facility, ranging from a portion of the original Wright Brothers plane from 1902 that was the first airplane to fly to the Apollo 15 capsule which landed on the moon and successfully returned back to Earth.Admission and parking are free. The museum is very children and handicap friendly with free wheelchair, stroller, and electric scooter rentals. Backpacks and handbags are allowed after being scanned at the metal detectors.
